The presentation of the desserts and cakes was beautiful, but unfortunately the flavor and texture didn't live up to the appearance. I ordered the ube tart, which I appreciated for not being overly sweet, but it didn't stand out as anything particularly special. The L'Opéra was also disappointing--the balance of textures felt off, with too many hard layers and not enough soft cake texture. We also tried two cupcakes, and both were extremely dry and lacked the moist, fresh texture you'd expect from a bakery. The service was mediocre as well and didn't add much to the overall experience. I was doing a drive by and saw this place?! I had to do a double take cause it the same Bakery in Campbell and Palo Alto. They have those awesome Pinwheel Croissants. At the time of my visit is that they don't have them yet, but it will be here shortly by 2-3 weeks. I had gotten a Latte and a Creme Brulee pastry dessert for a taster. Such a nice fancy place!!! I tried the Opera Classic and it's absolutely DECADENT. I don't use that word often either! I also tried the Dubai chocolate slice and the cookie was soft and the toppings were rich. I think it could have been lighter with the pistachio topping but it wasn't an issue, just a personal preference. My daughter had their chocolate cupcake and it was moist. She really liked the frosting. I also ordered their rose vanilla latte and it was probably a little too sweet for me, but the rose flavor wasn't overpowering or overwhelming either. I visited Marvel Cake on a Sunday afternoon. There were quite a few customers the entire time I was there but the staff was attentive, polite, and helpful. It's definitely a more upscale feel - it felt almost like a pastry shop in a fancy hotel and the prices also matched that feel. The pastries were all so pretty especially the cakes and tarts and all sounded delicious. It was tough choosing which to try, I wanted to try all of them! I ended up choosing 4 items, 3 cake type items and one croissant - the cakes were over $11 each and the croissant was $9. Tik tok does it again! My addiction never steers me wrong. When I saw a video about the location in Walnut Creek I got super excited. I'm pretty sure they have a location in Campbell or San Jose and we loved it. So after our morning workout we decided to treat ourselves with marvel since it was nearby. We didn't try the coffee and croissants at our visit in San Jose but tried them here and tbh they were just ok to me. A little on the hard side even after being warmed up and the coffee was just eh. A friend and I arrived around 12:30 on a Saturday and it was busy but not packed and there were a few tables available. The staff we interacted with were nice. The pastries are gorgeous but the price point is a bit high so it's definitely a treat to stop in ($11.50-$12 for one tart/cake slice; for 7 items our total was $90). I got a tiramisu crepe cake and my friend got a chocolate crepe cake; we both felt like they lacked in flavor but texture was great and fluffy. This review was actually written in May 2025, so prices may have changed. Food was very good. First time I had a rose latte. They make their own syrup. I also had a little almond flaky nut pastry thing. It was small but went perfectly with the latte. I came back the next day and got the lavender, honestly I didn't like it as much as the rose. I don't know if that's because I forgot to get a milk alternative with the rose and got almond milk with the lavender or what. I couldn't taste the lavender as well and it tasted like there was chocolate in it. I, personally, do not like chocolate in my coffee. Anyway I bought a cake - vanilla with strawberries. I took it to a birthday celebration and everyone loved it. I wish I had also gotten the chocolate, because not everyone liked strawberries and vanilla cake. I loved it. It was not very sweet, but the strawberries were sweet and very flavorful. The cake was dense and light at the same time, if that makes any sense. It would make a great tres leches cake or any cake you put a soak in. The ambience is tea house, ornate. Definitely a place I could bring a book, get a cup of coffee or tea and sit for hours and eat myself silly, go into a sugar coma, though I don't think the pastries are too sweet to cause that. We've visited the downtown Palo Alto location before so we're ecstatic to learn that a new location was opening so close to our hometown in Walnut Creek! We visited on a Saturday afternoon around 3pm, and all the seats were taken inside and a queue starting at the patisserie section about 10 people deep. Location is right outside the main downtown Walnut Creek Broadway plaza, street parking is not super easy to come by but plenty of public parking garages. For food, we ordered: - an Americano and a rose latte (note that Sightglass coffee beans from San Francisco are used). Rose latte wasn't too sweet with a hint of rose flavor and aroma - Ube sesame mousse tart was our favorite. I went twice in one week to be able to give a proper review and sampling ;) I must off the bat say that the price of tea was very high. I understand that it was imported and loved the teapot it came out in but a single tea bag with a pot of hot water should not be more than a cup of coffee in my humble opinion, especially almost double. I think my opinion might be different though if the tea bag had been in the teapot rather than in the cup, which most tea houses opt to do and feels more like a tea sharing experience. That said, I wasn't overly impressed with the tea I had. The Paris Lavender tea had hints of rose and lavender but was overall a bit too floral and sweet for me. The same could be said for the matcha latte I had, a bit too sweet. My first visit I went with a group and we split a number of the desserts. My favorites were the mango passion fruit and strawberry tarts. The ube was good, but I wish it was more flavorful or had more sesame paste to it. The sesame crepe had very little flavor to it. They sure all did look pretty though! We all agreed that the spinach croissant was the best item we had, but when I went and ordered mid week it was not as good and seemed a bit too soggy with butter. On the weekend the place was overall packed but still delightful. Get here early though as we saw a lot of the items selling out. I appreciated the Parisian cafe music playing and it felt like we were transported to a cafe in Paris. During the week when I went the music was more top 40 which was a bit disappointing and there were only 2 or 3 people in there but a lot more options available. Overall, it is a delightful place and I will be back for more sampling. Also, to note the blue tea my friends ordered was not in fact blue. I drove by this place many times and I was thrilled to finally stop by trying their desserts. First off, the location is really nice. Bunch of street parking and paid parking around. The vibe of this place gives out luxury. This place was pretty packed on a Sunday afternoon. I walked in thinking to get some desserts to bring home.
