This charming little local family bakery is a must visit when on Point Loma. We went for an early breakfast treat. The incredible selection of pastries was the pure definition of "eye candy". We were told by the clerk that the selection is best early in the morning. The clerk was super friendly and threw in a couple donut holes with our order. She also made me a cup of water. It's the kind of place that they know the regulars by name. A counter is devoted to gifts that customers have brought in for the owners. I thought prices were reasonable for hand made pastries. My Spinach and Cheese Croissant was flakey, buttery with a fabulous creamy spinach filling. The pastry was huge, I took half home for later. The Jalapeño Ham and Cheese Croissant was huge with lots of ham. The pastry was delicious. We sat inside at the little counter in the back. The muffins here are indeed marvelous. They are airy, moist, and large. I've tried many flavors and all have been delicious. My favorite ones are blueberry, triple berry, and banana walnut. Came here for a quick breakfast prior to a trip to Cabrillo National Monument. What a cute neighborhood joint for breakfast pastries! I had the sprinkles donut which was delicious and so fluffy. My friend ordered the spinach and cheese croissant which the server heated up for us quickly on the spot, as well as the lemon poppy seed muffin. The muffins here are a great combination of crispy on the outside and soft and fluffy on the inside, and very flavorful! Prices were very reasonable and service was friendly. Big bonus is easy parking as there is a small parking lot with a handful of dedicated spots for Marvelous Muffins customers. SPOILER ALERT: ONE OF THE BEST APPLE FRITTERS IN THE U.S. We stopped by on Saturday, just before closing (12:30ish). There's ample street and lot parking with handicap accessible spaces. They took cash and cards. The eating area was clean and felt like a nice place for a drop in breakfast on a weekend. The server/cashier was very pleasant and there were several options still available, to pair with hot or cold beverages (See photos). I'm not a muffin guy, so I went for the donuts (It's my cheat day). THE APPLE FRITTER IS A TEN! This apple fritter was a cut above: - Perfect portion size for an adult - Drizzled with the traditional powdered sugar glaze, but not overly sweet - Cooked to perfection and lightly crisp along the exterior - Moist inside without being doughy - Cinnamon spread evenly throughout the dough without overpowering it - YOU CAN TASTE APPLES IN EVERY BITE The fritter outperforms the 50 - 100 I've eaten over many years. We visited San Diego for a tennis tournament during November and tried Marvellous Muffins on our first day. The food and coffee were exceptional. So great in fact, we returned every morning of our trip and ate there every day. Both staff were so warm and welcoming which matched the homely feel of the place. Could not recommend enough! We got in here very late morning around 11:15am before heading out of town and driving back up to LA. The selection of what was left wasn't a whole lot but no big deal. What bothered me more than anything was that the muffins didn't look like anything to write home about. I ended up getting pink sprinkles doughnut and a croissant. The doughnut looked a little dry but my son really wanted it and I didn't have time to stop elsewhere. The croissant was really good and they warmed it up for me. I had passed by Marvelous Muffins a few days prior and thought it looked cute from the outside so I decided to check it out. We came around 10:30am on Sunday and they only had two muffin flavors available which was Banana Walnut and Chocolate Fudge. I was hoping they would have more flavors or at least Blueberry. We both opted for the Banana Walnut which turned out ok. Muffins here are $2 and some change. In addition to muffins they also have donuts and other pastries. Came here before I started yelping and now wish I had a yelp review or picture to remind me of the deliciousness. Back then I would ordered a lemon or orange muffin with a pat of butter with a coffee and call it breakfast. This time I needed something more hardy, so we ordered a bagel with egg, cheese and sausage. Just as good as my muffin. I ordered what I saw in the case: chocolate and berry muffin, but didn't realize there were more selections on the rack. My muffin just came out of the oven, warm gooey, and melted away in my mouth. Not sure if I'd call this place marvelous, but it is good, and close to shelter island if you want to grab a bite and walk around. First off, it is kind of expensive for a hole in the wall shop, a croissant sandwich was just shy of $7 and a chocolate bear claw was around $3. The croissant sandwich was good, and the eggs on the sandwich were made to order. The bear claw was tasty but nothing to brag about. They threw in a couple complimentary donut holes which is awesome. But I walked out with 2 items and 10$ later.. Nice service. I'll come back if I'm in the area, next time I'll get a muffin! read more

We visited this Marvelous Muffins during the pandemic and was glad to see that they were still open and conducting business as usual. Unfortunately, we weren't able to sit in and enjoy our breakfast inside but they made sure to keep everyone safe by marking spots on the floor to ensure social distancing can still be practiced. As with all other stores, masks are required by both the patrons and employees. We absolutely love this place! The lady is super sweet and makes sure she has our order down correctly. If there are other orders in front of yours, she'll let you know so you can have an idea of long you may be waiting. Don't worry, those folks are pretty quick so you won't be waiting long either way. We ended up getting two breakfast items- a croissant and an everything bagel both with bacon egg and cheese. The croissant was soft and flaky as you would expect a croissant to be. The bagel was perfect as well and the bacon, egg and cheese was on point! Super delicious. The size of both items were large enough to share- we would have been satisfied sharing either one but since we got our own, we were pretty full! We usually share breakfast items but decided to get our own- I guess our eyes was hungrier than our stomach were since we probably should have shared. Aside from breakfast sandwiches, they have donuts, muffins, coffee as well as some bottled drinks such as orange juice, milk, etc. We got here pretty early so parking wasn't an issue. Once businesses open up, parking could be somewhat of an issue. There are some reserved parking spots in the complex and parking along the street but we could see them filling up. We don't think that should deter you as the worst case scenario, you're gonna park around the corner and have to walk a short distance to front door. read more

Stopped at this cute store in our way to pick up food elsewhere. We got a box of assorted pastries. The lady serving us was very helpful and attentive. The customer service was great.The donut holes were fresh and fluffy. It was very difficult to stop eating them. My husband had the apple fritter. Just so you know, we call him the snack and dessert king. He said this was the best apple fritter he ever had. I had the lemon cheesecake muffin ...incredible.
