I really enjoyed this place. My coworkers and I came here after a volunteer event and we were worried about finding parking, but luckily, there's a parking lot down Santa Clara Place. I suggested this place because they have pastries and looked like a good brunch menu. It has a nice outdoor patio which was perfect on a beautiful beach day. I ordered the chilaquiles and requested if I could have any chorizo. It's not listed as an option, but I saw that they had it on other menu items. The chilaquiles is made with a red salsa, and you can ask for their house salsa on the side. The eggs come scrambled, plus a side of sour cream and avocado. I really enjoyed it. It had just the right amount of spice. I also ordered an iced soy milk pistachio coconut latte and I couldn't leave without trying their pastries. I ordered a chocolate croissant and a chocolate chip & blueberry scone. They also offer day-old scones for $2, which I love that they offer to reduce food waste. read more

The location is a block away from the beach. I arrived this past Friday and well... got a parking ticket for street sweeping.. so fyi to anyone wanting to visit on Tuesday and Fridays 8-10am is a disaster to find parking as the whole street applies to this. Anyways, the viral banana bread latte I thought would be house made syrup but unfortunately it was the standard syrups torani. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. I got a bagel with cream cheese, eggs and sausage. Lost a point because of the syrup and the parking situation. The place was busy at 8am on Friday so prepare so that on any given time. read more

First time here and this place will for sure be moving to the top of my brunch list. Not because it's some fancy, "want to be Instagrammed" spot but rather because it's exactly not that. It's humble, with local vibes, delicious food and super friendly staff. Everyone loved what they ordered. The hash browns were something special for me though. You can just really taste the quality ingredients. Seating is somewhat limited, especially for parties bigger than 4. But you can get to go and eat on the beach. Parking is going to be the major issue for many as this is right on the strand between PB and Mission Beach but I'd encourage people to park at the ends somewhere in either and enjoy a lovely walk on the boardwalk to and from the restaurant. Was craving an omelette after a swim, found on Yelp and mobile ordered from their website. Parking at this location can be tricky but there is public parking for Mission Bay 2 blocks past it. Staff were friendly and bagging my order when it arrived, I added a black cold brew which they get from a local coffee toaster, it was good. I ordered the Popeye Scramble and Yogurt and Fruit bowl which I ate later, it was delicious. The scramble is not quite an omelette and it works. I tend to like my eggs fully cooked (not runny), this was closer to Medium-Well/Well Done. Didn't see ingredients but a traditional greek omelette (spinach, tomato, feta, olives optional) would have been a home-run. I don't eat hash browns these days but I did sample these, a mix of crispy on top and cooked/soft in the middle, nice taste. The sour dough toast was a hockey puck, I suspect it was stale before it went in the toaster (no points deducted). Very cute cafe with outdoor seating between PB and MB - highly recommend. read more

The ordering was done at the counter, and the food was delivered when ready. I had the corned beef Reuben ($15.25) which was a special on the day I attended. It was a traditional Reuben with their homemade 1000 island dressing and artisan sourdough bread. I also opted for the macaroni salad as the side given. That was alright. We were brought here by locals and now I understand why! This place is great. We came here for brunch and loved it. You wait in line to order and find available seating. They have outdoor and indoor seating, but overall it's not a huge place. People usually are coming and going fairly quickly though. Finally made my way to Olive Cafe to try the viral banana bread latte and it was absolutely worth the hype. I came in on a Sunday around 11 and there was no line. The staff were so sweet and i loved the aesthetic of the cafe - super authentic, colorful, and cute. The banana bread latte was insanely delicious and so banana forward. The espresso paired nicely with the flavor. Definitely going to be coming back for this latte and the other food/pastries! read more

Delicious food! I can't remember the last time I had a breakfast burrito because nobody has GF tortillas. Kitchen is not dedicated GF, and I did have a mild reaction so there was prob some cross contamination. I'd probably still do it again..worth the risk. There is always a line here, but the food comes out quick so it's a wash when compared to other places. Seating is mostly outdoors. Great place to sit and people -watch. read more

Finally stopped here on our morning walk the other day, we usually visit the bakery across the street. The place was packed, every table filled. Finally got a small table in the middle of the buildings and then got in line to order. When they say basic breakfast, they mean basic! The amount of food and taste were the equivalent of the 99 cent breakfast you get in the IKEA cafe but for $8.99. We will definitely try something different next time, not overwhelmed. read more

Living in Pacific Beach for nearly a decade I have passed Olive Cafe numerous times and always noticed how busy it was. Staff is very friendly and helpful. I ordered the Veggie Vegan Burrito (without the peppers and onions) which came filled with hash brown potatoes, black beans, spinach, mushrooms, and avocado. I wasn't sure what to expect, but I was absolutely blown away by all the flavor. I was genuinely surprised by the size of this burrito considering how inexpensive it was! They are very dog friendly, but I thought it was weird when they gave me a hard time ordering inside while being so dog friendly. Where did they expect me to leave my dog when I ordered? I've been driving past olive cafe ever since I was little and it's always caught my eye. So happy I finally tried it. The breakfast burrito was a good size and had a great amount of toppings for the price, but the turkey wrap was the star of the show. The best breakfast burritos around! Everything we've had so far is great. They make a solid basic breakfast and yummy smoothies/coffee. Friendly service and plenty of seating. Parking can be challenging but worth a bit of a walk. Only complaint is there have been a few times when they've forgotten items in our pickup orders (probably because they're so busy) so would recommend double checking everything before leaving the restaurant. Sunday of Memorial Day - I ordered an iced oat milk latte with coconut syrup and an avocado toast with a soft egg. When the order came out I received a scrambled egg hard cooked through and the bread was so toasty that it cut the roof of my mouth There was a line out the door and on to the patio but thankfully it went by quite quickly. My group of 3 was able to snag a table in a reasonable amount of time too, and our coffees came out about five minutes after. But our food took about 30 minutes and it wasn't as I ordered. I know that there is difficulty with larger crowds like Memorial Day weekend. I am happy to be patient and wait but our food still wasn't made as requested. For a small cafe, they have lots of options. We ordered via their online app, and there's lots of customization options. I got the breakfast quesadilla with hash browns. It was delicious with a slightly crispy outside. There's avocado, eggs, mushrooms and bacon. It was very large; enough to share. The hash browns were also crispy outside and tender inside. We ordered the breakfast burrito with bacon and the breakfast sandwich on a croissant. Inside the breakfast burrito was scrambled eggs, has browns, black beans, and cheese in a soft flour tortilla. It came with a side of salsa. The breakfast burrito was delicious! I would have loved avocado with it. The salsa added a great flavor to the burrito. The breakfast sandwich on the croissant was more plain and bland. It needed some aioli or sauce on it. The croissant was fluffy and soft. We would order the burrito again because we really liked it!
