We ordered 6 regular donuts... glazed twist, old fashioned, maple bar, cinnamon crumb, etc. The yeast donuts had a nice dough, but the maple topping had almost no flavor, similar to just regular glaze. The old fashioned was fine, kind of dense and dry and small. The glazed twist was my favorite from our order. Regular donuts are $2.25 each, and sometimes they throw in an extra one if you order 6 (but not if you're using a gift card or coupon). We probably should've "upgraded" to the more expensive filled or specialty donuts. read more

Lucky Donuts House is another mom-and-pop store in the PB neighborhood. They are not open 24 hours unlike some other donut shops in the SD area. As a matter of fact, they close at 2 pm daily which is on the early side. The business occupies an end suite at the Plaza Clock Tower that has about half a dozen tenants. If the neighboring yoga studio has a class in session, then good luck with finding an available space in the parking lot. The inside of this place was small, yet it still had three tables for on-site dining. Breakfast sandwiches were available for $7.50 each. You can choose either a bagel, croissant, English muffin, or glazed donut as the vehicle. The filling could then be bacon, ham, egg, cheese, or sausage. Donuts ranged in price from $1.99 to $3.99 apiece. The regular varieties could be purchased by the half dozen of full dozen. Beverages included coffee, tea, milk, juice, hot chocolate, and a few other offerings. I came in after lunch at which time the selections were less than optimal. My picks were three different donuts.... Bavarian, Coconut Flake, and Maple Bar. The total price was just under $9, and I paid with cash because there was a surcharge added for using a credit or debit card. The best of the trio was the Bavarian because of the vanilla cream filling that wasn't overly sweet. The dough was still quite soft even though the donuts were made much earlier in the day. Overall, the products I tasted at Lucky Donuts House were average. read more

The only thing better than the friendly staff is their Apple Burrito. I stopped by on a whim and couldn't resist trying their Apple Burrito. It's like if an Apple Pie and a Burrito had a baby and dressed it like a churro. It was absolutely incredible. I had it as is, but the owner recommended I warm it up and eat it ala mode with a nice scoop of vanilla ice cream. I like the way he thinks and that's exactly what I'll be doing next time. read more

Disgusting customer service, parking situation is terrible. Was accosted by the owner about parking situation, they make their own hand written signs (not San Diego city signs) saying that every respective restaurant has their own spots when the parking is for the general building. This is my favorite place to grab donuts in PB! Their donuts are fresh and good quality for an affordable price. I've really liked their maple twist and chocolate donuts. The ham and cheese croissants are bomb too! The cereal topped donuts look great as well, I'm looking forward to trying them out soon. They give great service and are friendly whenever I come in. Ok the donuts here are always fantastic but today I tried the Apple burrito for the first time and my god my life has totally changed for the better. I'm never going to forget this moment. I'm not sure if they are having an off day, but I am not a fan. I usually love apple fritters and I could only eat a few bites of this one. It's so greasy! The flavor of the oil overpowered the donut, and I didn't taste any apple. I tried a bite of the old fashioned glazed hoping for a better experience, and it was also very greasy. Overall, not a great experience. The few bites of donuts I did have left me feeling sick from all the grease. I should add that delivery was quick, but that's a bit of a non-starter given that the donuts are inedible. read more

Came in on a a Friday morning to pick up donuts for the office. I'm a huge fan of these mom& pop type donut shops because they're usually super friendly and have really fresh donuts. My experience here though.. not worth coming here for. The lady at the counter is rather rude. I ordered a dozen donuts ($11.50) but it costs more If you get any from the top row which are their "specialty donuts". With two speciality donuts it's came out to $13.39. They have all sorts of flavors ranging from original glazed, sugar, twists, maple bars, chocolate, fruity pebbles, cookies and cream, coconut, etc. Each individual donut starts at $1.29. On my way out, I asked for another box to separate the dozen donuts I bought and she looked at me RUDELY saying that she'd have to charge me more for an extra box. My bad, could've just nicely said no.. Donuts taste alright, not different from the ones you pick up from Vons or Ralphs. It's located at the end of Garnet in Pacific Beach closer to the ocean and PB traffic so it's also not the most convenient place to get to. I noticed they had Mexican Sweet Breads so I decided on the "guzano" not because it's made of corn, but because they are shaped like them. They cost .85 cents each. The outside of the sweet bread was nice. Having a generous amount of sugars and good flavor, but it was the inside was a different story. It was harder than I expected and a little dry for my taste. I learned from the owner that the inside is suppose to be dry. I was not very fond of the inside, but happy with the exterior, but as a whole, if that interior would of been a little more moister, the flavor of the chocolate would of been more noticeable. I ordered donuts from Lucky Donut House on April 4, 2024. I have ordered them before, and usually, they are very good. But this time, I was delivered donuts that were crispy, black, and clearly burnt. (I used Uber Eats delivery). When my order arrived, my apple fritters looked terrible and one bite confirmed that they were truly burnt. I was unhappy; my tab was $43.00, so I called the store. The man who answered (I take it the owner) said that they were closed but that he would take care of it the next day by calling to confirm the order with UBER and to arrange for me to have my order replaced. The next day when the store opened, I called and called and never got anyone to answer at the store. I left a message for someone to call me back, but no one ever called. Terrible service. They knew they were burnt when they sent them to me, then refused to make it better. Beware, especially if you're ordering through DoorDash or Uber Eats. read more
