Yummy ice cream for moderate- high priced ice cream. The Raspberry Chocolate Chunk was good but I think Haagen Daz is better. Husband got an ice cream soda with chocolate syrup and pistachio ice cream. It was delightful and refreshing. You can't visit Long Beach Island without getting Barry's. My family has been coming here for years and for the last two, our beach house has been walking distance (dangerous!) Came here for lunch and split the tuna hoagie, with extra lettuce, with my cousin. We also ordered French fries which she said were good here. The tuna hoagie was absolutely big enough to split. I actually had trouble finishing my half. I don't think there was extra lettuce although I could not have emphasized it more when ordering. And it was on the tab. Loved the paper thin sliced raw onion and tomato. Perfect amount of seasoning. Roll was fresh too. The fries were excellent. We didn't get our chips with the sandwich. They had Vitamin water which I love. Only one flavor but that just took away my indecisiveness! Would definitely come back and probably order the same thing. What's not to like. The food is good consistently, and the service is excellent. The owners run a tight ship. It's a great place for a family meal, there is delicious ice cream, and the vibe is fun and relaxed. The menu is full of all-American classics, but also some unique takes. We stopped in for the fish tacos. + The blackened shrimp tacos delivered. They were full of flavor and the shrimp were excellently cooked. + The Old Bay fries were well-seasoned. - The grilled mahi tacos missed the mark (over-cooked, dry, and chewy). - The food is OVER-PRICED. We paid over $50 for two orders of fish tacos, French fries, and an iced tea. Probably a 3.5 stars, but rounding up because the staff were friendly and helpful. read more

Went back to get same order and this time it was fantastic. The last time I must've gone at a bad time.

We arrived at Barry's at 7 o'clock and we were told our order would be ready in 20 minutes. We had come down to see a show that was starting at 8 o'clock, but with the traffic and everything we got delayed. Although we were also delayed in getting our food because it was not delivered until 40 minutes later instead of 20 minutes, the food however was incredible. The owner was extremely gracious with apologies and the food was amazing. We will definitely come back when we have more time to really relax and enjoy ourselves, but the owner went above and beyond to compensate us for the delay in our food delivery, and we made it to the theater on time. I do strongly suggest enjoying a meal or ice cream at Barry's next time you're in Beach Haven. read more

I visited Barry's on Monday 8/18 and had the Blackened Mahi Sandwich and a diet coke.....woke up at 4am projectile vomiting and the worst 24 hours of food poisoning I've ever experienced. They really need to watch the bacteria levels in the fish they serve. read more

Consistently the friendliest servers we encountered in Beach Haven. Every item we ordered was tasty. In a one month stay in Beach Haven from September to October, we must have ordered take-out from Barry's a dozen times. We might have gone more often but they were closed Tuesday and Wednesday and Thursday before dinner. The black and blue mahi salad, which I ordered several times, included Romaine, blue cheese crumbles, walnuts, cranberries and a not-too-large piece of blackened mahi. The mahi always tasted fresh. My other go-to item was the grilled tuna steak sandwich on brioche roll. This item was always fresh and tasty but the size and quality of the tuna varied from day to day. I liked the wasabi mayo that comes on the side. I substituted their tasty cole slaw for the fries. Their cole slaw is very finely chopped and not as creamy as most cole slaw, which I appreciated. I ordered the tuna sandwich once but didn't order it again because it came on a white Kaiser roll despite the menu saying multigrain bread. Maybe they ran out of multigrain bread; I'm not sure. Their online app can use some refinement. Every time I ordered, the tuna steak was not available on the app but it was available when I called by phone. Their app didn't allow substitutions, so I ended up calling by phone most of the time. Their creamy ice cream and cone were good quality as well. read more

We didn't come here for the ice cream - let me just say that to clear the air. Yes, they had PLENTY of flavors to choose from, but that wasn't what we were on the hunt for. We didn't have lunch after spending 4 hours on LBI, and we needed something tasty, filling, and reliable. Since it was an odd time, 3:30PM - not really lunch nor dinner, we were lucky that Barry's was still serving. I opted for the Drunken Flyer, and she got the fried flounder fish sandwich. Each came with french fries, which I was happy for, and took about 20 minutes for our order to be ready. Mine was exactly what I wanted; that first fresh fish bite and the crunch of the coleslaw on top, was what woke my taste buds! The french fries needed no help with ketchup or any other condiment, and that speaks volumes to me. A plain good 'ol fry, that doesn't need anything because it's so perfect being pure, is what my love language is. Before I knew it, my Drunken Flyer was gone, and she killed all of her french fries before we realized we mostly ate in silence on the bench across the street in the shade. Can't believe we have been coming to LBI for almost 30 years and just started going to Barry's a couple of years ago. We love it. The food is great, particularly if you are interested in cheesesteaks/burgers/french fries. Excellent milkshakes! You order in line at the register and then take a seat. It can feel a little chaotic with crowds sitting everywhere and the servers yelling numbers out, but somehow it all works out. We consider this part of our LBI experience at this point. read more
