This review is for desserts only. I know they aren't a dessert go to place but I was craving tiramisu, and after looking at the menu I also got creme brule and carrot cake. The tiramisu was good but I couldn't get past the fact that it had chocolate drizzled on top and had chocolate chips as well, I wanted cinnamon and there's no description. The creme brule was def not creme brule, they grabbed a spoonful of pudding and threw it inside a to go container, there was no cup or dish it could have been cooked in and then they separately make the sugar topping. Second visit because the first was great... however, not the story with our visit tonight. The visit started great with dang good shrimp cocktail. They came and took our bread and butter before we were finished with it ( and never brought any back, despite three requests). When our food came, they forgot one of my sides. When they brought the grilled asparagus, it was clearly not grilled. My "ribeye" lacked the rib cap and it was void of fat that's normally marbled in. I'm betting it was a sirloin. My fiancé ordered boneless short ribs on risotto. The ribs were dry and the risotto was crunchy. The service is good and attentive but the overall pace is slow. Finally, tonight was special with live music in another room that was fair at best but it was loud for the atmosphere. The servers couldn't hear us asking for anything. Marvino's has always produced great food. My children enjoy fettuccini Alfredo while the wife and I get wonderful rib eye, spare rib, seared tuna, and lamb shank. It's with a heavy heart that I say that the prices have risen at such a rate that I can't stomach the bill anymore. And even with recent cost increases, we haven't seen other establishment's prices rise as much as Marvino's has. If you're looking for quality food and can afford the significant expense, i haven't been disappointed in the food. But since kids love noodles with cheese sauce, we can find that at other restaurants alongside our adult dishes for less. I leave this review with much conflict. My meal is always satisfying and my wife even remarked the drinks were quite good, but some of the magic has gone out with the increased expense. read more

My roommate selected this place for his birthday dinner. It turned into my 2nd underwhelming trip to Marvinos Steakhouse and will definitely be my last. I ordered the special Cajun ribeye med rare. It was served medium well they returned it to the kitchen to cook a new one that was then served to me blue. I told them not to bother a third time it's in the name STEAKHOUSE the expectation is they understand how to properly cook a steak. Have showed up here twice with a reservation made in advance, and both times have had to wait 15-20 to be seated when arriving on time. Reservations obviously have been forgotten both times, as the tables are mismatched and srambled to be put together. Everything else checks out. read more

But what messed up my day was after I dropped my girlfriend off at home, I went back to school at Lone Star College, and on the way I felt the need to have bad diarrhea! I would typically NOT take the time to write a review. However, this was warranted. Made a reservation, this past Monday, for my daughter and her friends to celebrate her 18th birthday. I received a phone call, today, day of the reservation, hours before hand, to basically inform me, that they must have seen it was a table of 18 year olds, and detail out the "do's" and "don'ts" for said reservation. First timers. My wife and I came in for a day date on a Sunday early evening around 2ish - 3ish. This is the perfect time to come here. We beat the dinner rush and the lunch crowd has already been gone for awhile. So, the wait staff was very attentive to us and the kitchen was able to take their time with our meals. We took our time and started with some vino and smoked salmon. The smoked salmon was not the best I've ever had but it was up there. Our server was very knowledgeable about the menu and was able to answer all of our questions. We went with the Caesar and Tomato Caprese Salads, Linguini Fri Diavolo and SeaBass with Lump Crab Meat and Angelhair Pasta. They were phenomenal! My wife said it was the best Caprese Salad she's ever had. I'm like gtfo of here so I tasted it and yeah it was super delicious and packed with flavor. I will say that I had told the server that I wanted something spicy but nothing crazy and my Fri Diavolo was exactly what I wanted. I love seafood and this dish hit a home run with me. Very flavorful and all seafood cooked prefect temp with the sauce great. Washed it down with some red wine every now and then I was loving it. My wife really enjoyed her sea bass and pasta. I wasn't expecting much but these people took me by surprise. We enjoyed our time so much that we decided to stay longer, ordered dessert and more wine. We moved here from Dallas about a year and a half ago and my wife and I were sitting there asking ourselves "Is this the best meal we've had since we moved here?" Wow, I do not understand the previous bad reviews at all. I rarely review but I was so impressed with the service, ambience and especially the food, I felt this restaurant deserved it. We went to celebrate my belated birthday with my daughter and family. First time for all of us, the service was amazing, friendly, attentive, more than 1 person making sure water glasses filled, wine glasses filled, everyone had what they needed. Loved the ambience, cozy, classy and we could have a family conversation. Music was nice in the background but not overpowering. Building absorbs sound, not huge and echoing. We all tried something different on the Houston Restaurant Weeks dinner menu. We all had excellent meals, all 3 courses, all for $55. I had the Lobster Bisque, Chilean Sea Bass, and tiramisu. All excellent and I've eaten at some very nice restaurants in my life. Husband had shrimp course, T-Bone steak, strawberry cheesesteak. Daughter had Pear & Gorgonzola salad, Filet Minon, fruit sorbet. Son-in-law had ravioli, Filet Minon, and cheesecake. Everyone was very happy, steaks cooked perfectly, tender, seasoned well. Servings were generous. My sea bass was perfect cooked, melt in your mouth, served with creamy cheesy polenta, rainbow carrots, broccolini & asparagus. Vegetables cooked perfect tender crisp with some crunch. My tiramisu was some of the best I've had. I'm so disappointed in my delivery order from here. The delivery itself was great from Door Dash. But the actual food was disgusting and I don't say that lightly at all. I ordered meatballs (they were burnt and dry), bruschetta (didn't taste good and the bread was burnt), soup with the entree... it's a mystery what it is but it smells terrible so we didn't taste it, and the fettuccini Alfredo with fettuccini noodles and extra sauce (they gave me thin spaghetti noodles and it was a very bland tasting just like thickened cream). My daughter and 5 girlfriends went tonight for Homecoming dinner at 430pm to beat the rush and get out to enjoy the evening. they were so excited! The food was fair, nothing special. The server, Jose, was rude and treated them with disrespect. It took him 1 1/2 hours to sort out their checks, in which he messed up, double charged my daughter. He came back to the table and said I need all the ones with credit cards and then left. Then he came back and said, I need the ones that are paying cash, and then he came back, and he still messed them up and told them to sort it out for him, he didn't know which card belong to them. One was short .50, he said I don't have .50, so she told him to keep it. The girls have money and would have tipped him well, but he didn't deserve it! The manager wasn't any help and didn't care. Much to my surprise, it was $65. I think that was something that should have been communicated given the $22 white branzino I almost ordered off the menu instead. The food never disappoints when I come to Marvino's. They start you out w/ a warm basket of bread and olive oil dipping sauce, (might want to ask for butter)! The kids love their fettuccine alfredo, and burgers from the kids menu. They are great portions also. My husband really enjoys their steals because of the smoky flavor they have. I recently switched up my go-to selection, (wedge salad), and chose the salmon w/ creamy polenta and spinach. It was very yummy! The service is good, although there is a language barrier with some of the waitstaff. Broccoli cream soup (4/5)- very rich and creamy. My favorite thing here. It was very good Linguine Fruiti de mare (2/5)- not much sauce and overall just basic. The sauce was on the runny side and tbh tasted like dirty sink water Seafood tortellini (1/5)- was SO fishy, I mean I get its seafood but geezus Christ I wanted to gag in my mouth. What should have been a fun family gathering to mark the first time since pre-pandemic we have all been together for a meal and also celebrate Mother's Day, quickly veered off course. My mom chose Marvino's since she lives in the area and was craving their raw oyster appetizer. I am a vegan and therefore, went online to view their menu. (Now, before you roll your eyes and think, "inner looper, hipster Karen". Inner looper? Well, okay, yes. I have been a vegetarian/vegan for almost 40 years; 20 of those years married to a carnivore. I don't try to change people and hope they don't try to change me.) Not seeing any options, I emailed the restaurant. The reply I received from the GM was to ask my server. This statement implies that they have sooooooo many off menu options that it is too cumbersome to type in an email. So I conclude that I won't have any issues. I am used to checking places out prior. If they don't have a vegan meal, I eat something beforehand and can drink enough wine to more than make up for the lack of dollars being spent on food. I made reservations for Fri, June 18, 2021, at 7p. I also indicated on the reservation that it was a celebration. Mom & brother arrive ahead of my husband & I and are seated at a table that normally seats 6 people. Maybe that irritated the waiter, Jose, from the start. He was displeased from the very beginning. He mumbled something about drinks. Mom asked about diet drinks and he grumbled Diet Coke and Coke Zero. Only 2 menus were placed on the table. Reservation was for 4. When husband and I arrive Jose now has to be bothered to get us 2 more menus. Husband orders a cocktail and I, a wine. He comes back to take our order. Mom is craving their raw oysters still. She notices that they are a little different in the description and tries to engage with him and nothing. He could have cared less what she was saying to him. Mom can strike up a conversation with ANYONE. Heck, it takes her 20 minutes to say good bye. He also takes our entrée order. When he gets to me I inquire about vegan options. He suggests the chicken primavera pasta. I apologize that I didn't make it clear, I am a vegan; don't eat meat, dairy or eggs. He tells me they don't have anything. I asked about the pasta, as many pastas don't have egg in it. But he tells me that all of theirs does. Okay...what about a la carte vegetables. He tells me they have asparagus and spinach. Fine, I'll take that. Then he tells me that they have gluten free pasta. I say to him that it will still have egg in it, right? He says yes. Then I can't have it. He could have at any point say he doesn't know what a vegan is. Or better yet, ask someone on staff what options are there for vegans since he clearly doesn't know the menu. I can't believe I am the first vegan to try to dine at the place. After I order, brother orders. 15-20 minutes later the appetizers arrive and the waiter has come back because he forgot to get my brother's order. Not exactly, but all this time has gone by and he just realized he forgot to place brother's entrée order. Meanwhile husband's glass and my glass are empty. He has been to the table 3 times since I have been out of wine. A manager came by and noticed my empty glass and went to the bar to bring me another glass of wine. Our food arrives and Jose places a small plate in front of me with 5 asparagus spears and a half cup of sautéed spinach on it. I look at it and then look at him. He tells me (without any expression on his face) that those are the 2 vegetables I ordered. Now I am getting annoyed. I don't want to make a scene or cause further stress for mom, so I lower my voice and explain to Jose that the GM said that there were vegan options for an entrée. That he proceeded to give no options and therefore, only suggested these 2 side vegetables. Which if someone is inquiring about a meal wouldn't you at least give them a larger portion? I also mention that he had been to the table 3 times when my glass was empty and neglected to ask if I wanted another one. Keep me happy with wine! He said that he asked and I told him no. That is when we had had enough. Brother stepped in and told the waiter that no he didn't ask. That a manager was now getting the wine for me. He also pointed at the green beans on his plate and mentioned, there is another vegetable you could have suggested. How about the red peppers that are on that plate? You could have tossed around some vegetables, thrown them on a large plate and she would have been happy. I told him for the 2nd time that this is a celebration for mom. His response? You guessed it, nothing. Not even an apology. Basically he couldn't have been bothered with us. To the point that he never came back to the table. The backup waiter came by to take the dessert order. No one asked about us celebrating anything. They have lost customers for all 3 of their restaurants, which they don't need to do considering the restaurant wasn't full on a Fri night. read more
