Extremely horrible experience this evening. I would strongly suggest that any one who considers eating at Marvino's to highly think twice. Before you go to dine in. 10 minutes went by before a server came over to see us. I watched them go to 4 other tables , pre-bussing and checking on those guest. Not 1 time did either of them stop by our table to at least acknowledge us. They only service the tables that were already seated. We were never greeted only given water and drink menus. No introduction whatsoever from our server so I do not know their names, nor food menus (until I asked) I had to flag down a server to place a drink order. A second server (guy) came by and I politely asked him if he was my server or if the other sever (lady) who stopped by 10 minutes ago was my server. He rudely replied with "you can order with whoever you want too, it doesn't matter"! . That was very odd to me ; his approach and delivery. I felt as if he expected me to already know that this is how the establishment is conducted.With the concept of me literally having to flag down a staff member to place an order. The 1st server, a lady informed me that they were in fact busy ; (there were about 4 other tables in the section that I was in and a few empty tables, the empty tables indicate that they were not fully booked) which is why they were very snappy and un-attentive. To me, that excuse is very unacceptable. There is no valid reason to be rude/snappy towards a guest. We ordered a few appetizers, drinks and 2 entrees. The steak entree was not prepared to our liking so we asked if it could go back on the grill to be cooked a little longer. The male server rudely snatched the plate away and said that he could. Now first off we asked the server when we placed the order what the restaurants steak cooking temperature/color meter was. Between Rare to Well Done. We were told that M/W would be slightly pink. That's the choice we went with. However the steak came out completely pink throughout. Which in my opinion falls well under Medium and not Medium /Well. We offered to buy another steak; again another angry/rude reply. The male sever says " well I'll have to get the manger first" Not sure why when we offered to pay for both. Things really take a turn for the worst once the manager came out. He was very unprofessional, and didn't offer any suggestions. At this point I'm furious, we only have one entree at the table and things are getting worse by the minute. We decide to go ahead and pay for our ticket and just leave. Once we told the manager that we would pay for what was already on the table (which was everything expect for the extra steak meal) He had the audacity with a straight face to ask us "Well what do you expect me to do with the steak that is being made right now" he obviously was implying that we should cover that too, as if we inconvenienced him in some type of way. He never apologized until I asked him what did he think should be the solution. His response was also rude and aggressive. He replied with well " I'm sorry this happened and I hope you come back". He was clearly upset over the extra steak that was being "prepared in the back" regardless of the fact my tab was already at $178. The only people who were inconvenience were my fiancée and I because not only did we pay $178 to Marvino's for food that we didn't get a chance to eat. We still had to get food elsewhere after we left. This will be the last time I dine in or patronize Marvino's in any way. read more

My husband and I went to Marvino's tonight for an early dinner (without kids).... we were very pleasantly surprised with how great everything was: the friendly greeting by the hosts at the front desk, and two servers who explained the features on the menu and provided excellent service from start to finish.. We sat at a cozy, quiet booth near the bar which was perfect for our date night .... (the Astros were playing so my husband could casually check the score on the non-intrusive TV's).. our cocktails, wine, salad and meals were great and we will be back..... The food was delicious, but the service was atrocious. We arrived 30 min before our reservation and asked if we could be seated early. The place was empty. The host acted like it was such a big deal, but finally "found" a table for us. I would understand if it was busy, but there were literally like 5 other groups in the entire restaurant. Whatever, let's eat. The waitress came by to take our drink order. I asked what beers they had.. Bud light, Miller lite, Dos Equis, Peroni. Your standard macros. I ordered a margarita and it was pretty good for an Italian restaurant, but I really wanted a good craft beer. When we got up to leave, we saw the tap handles and they had like 5 other craft beers from Saint Arnolds and others! She had no idea what beers they had! Anyways, we ordered and the service was incredibly slow. Granted, we got the three course restaurant weeks menu. But we were sitting around for 20+ min between courses, with the waitress never checking in. Finally, all our plates were cleared, so I flagged her down and asked her to bring dessert out. She seemed annoyed, but immediately brought it. The food was really good though and made it worth it! They serve great bread with olive oil. Then I started with the Jumbo Fungo which was great! It's a big mushrooms stuffed with Italian sausage and cheese. Perfect! Next was the Heart of Italy. The Filet was excellent! Cooked perfectly, with great seasoning. The chicken Parmesan was good, but pretty generic. The shrimp Alfredo was alright. Shrimp was good, but the alfredo sauce tasted like it was straight from the jar. I wish I just ordered a whole order of the Parmesan crusted filet, but was still very pleased with the meal! To end, I had Tiramisu, which was really good. It's not very strong with coffee flavor, but I prefer it that way. They also cut the pieces in half for restaurant weeks (and likely did for the other dishes too)- just look at other pictures on here. I get it, it's a good deal. But at least advertise it that way. My friend invited me here. I went to bar to buy her a glass of wine, while we waited for her other friends to get there. When I asked bartender for a glass of wine he asked if I was going to pay for it, I felt like that was a stupid question, well of course, I didn't think wine was free! After he brought her the glass of wine he comes back with check and three other drinks on ticket, I said to him this is not my ticket, then he said who's paying for the other drinks, I told him I don't know what he is talking about. He literally said "well ask the other girls who's paying" I said what girls and I didn't know anyone but my friend. The point is that the bartender assumed I was not going to pay for drinks??? So. We were here for my fathers 88 birthday and they were aware because when I made the reservation they asked for the occasion. It was forgotten and never mentioned again until I asked about it and they said they did not know. All the food was served to the wrong person, they were out of 3 of the 4 wines offered. We had to pass hot plates around the table. There were so many waiters at times then there were none. No one mentioned desert at hour 2 or coffee. It took forever to cut a piece of key lime pie. The food was NOT GOOD the white sauce was milky and the read sauce too thick and gunky. No one even saw the disaster happening and reached out to help. We had to chase the wait staff down. I finally received a 30% discount after I asked and even then the bill was over 300 for a party if 7. This all took 2 1/2 hours to endure. I'll never go there again. DONE! read more

Nice place and the service was decent but they are portraying upscale and from a food perspective it was pretty average for Italian. I had the frutti di mare for my entree. The two shrimp were great but I could had left the rest behind. The muscles were small and few. There was almost too much calamari which took away whatever flavor was in the relatively bland sauce. The Caesar salad was tasty and they have a nice bread basket. I've lived near this place for 3+ years and it was my first and likely last visit. There is plenty of better out there. read more

It was okay, personally I felt very rushed and our waiter seemed very impatient. I'm not sure if it is because I'm a teenager or what the circumstances were, but I'm a paying customer and I feel that I should be treated with the same respect as the other customers. Food was pretty good we got the fettuccine Alfredo with shrimp, the fried mozzarella, a salad, and strawberry cheesecake. It was more service that tainted our lunch. We ordered two salads and only got one. The lettuce was ok it was kind of soggy but the dressing was good. I might go back with my family and see if it's any better. First of all, it was my husbands birthday dinner and he LOVED his meal. He got beef tips on risotto and was s talking about it the next day. We got the fried calamari for the table and I think the other couple were happy with their meals. I, on the other hand, am vegetarian and was disappointed that there really wasn't anything for me to eat. Ok ok now for the delectable food review. . We had the lump crab risotto, the stake and , duck mushroom ravioli... First for the RISOTTO. . which was melt in your mouth delish. Cooked to perfection, with crunchy zucchini with gave it a dimension of texture that was out of this world. The stake at around $20 was a steal in my opinion. Came with roasted potatoes green beans marinated onions which danced in my mouth. Now for the duck ravioli.. Wow flavors that are almost undescribable. They had roasted sweet red peppers just a few to give it a salty sweet flavor and the cream sauce was phenomena. Was a little hesitant on the duck because you have to cook duck Just right to be delicious. They indeed knocked it out of the park! Now for dessert bread pudding cappuccinos all around. Melt in your mouth perfectly prepared gooey goodness. I was also impressed with the cappuccino. Some places say they have cappuccinos but as it comes out a frothy wobbly mess . Not here. Food mediocre. Had the Norwegian salmon, requested medium rare. Salad was excellent, as were the ravioli and bread. Fish was very overcooked and extremely salty. My friends and I met here, thinking we were going to enjoy a nice night out with friends. We ordered the Sea Bass, which sounded delicious, and it was! I always get fish when I go to a nice restaurant. My bill is usually around $80. I know that's a lot of money, but for a special occasion, it's worth it. Well my bill was $165!!!!! I was shocked! I recently moved back to my home in NW Houston from NJ and always watch for a good Italian restaurant. They are plentiful in NJ but hard to find in Texas. I selected Marvino's to try and I can't believe the low reviews here I have seen! If this restaurant does not earn a 5-star review, I don't know what would! The food is to die for! I love Italian food but since it had been a while since I had a steak, I had a filet Mignon, that was cooked perfectly and correctly to my taste - it was awesome! I had 2 other people with me; their seafood dishes were excellent, too! The salads were fresh and wonderful! The deserts we had were great. I had the bread pudding, which is one of my favorite desserts and it was great my two friends tasted it and also agreed. One person had the key lime pie and after we all tasted it, we all loved it! I loved the salad so much that came with the dinner, that I came back a few days later and picked up two salads that the manager graciously got for me and they were just as I had remembered them to be - wonderful! We've enjoyed Marvino's several times in the past, but very disappointed last night. My steak was overcooked and came out much too salty to eat. Our waiter was nice, pleasant, but disinterested? It wasn't busy in the seating area. He asked a bit late and literally in passing if everything was ok, but all I saw was his back. Why bother asking at all if you aren't going to turn your head and pause to see if anyone responds? (We weren't asked when the food came out or soon enough after.) The mashed potatoes weren't warm. We were offered dessert, declined, but our birthday family member asked if there was anything, some treat, for her birthday. He seemed surprised, asking, "It's your birthday?" The gift bags were right there the entire time, and we had made a reservation with a notation that we were celebrating a birthday. We certainly were not asked at any time upon arrival or while there if there was any special occasion. A waitress came toward the end to offer to box our food. I told her about my steak. She seemed genuinely concerned, offered to have another prepared, but everyone else ready to go. the manager Alan is a complete psychopath and I believe a physical danger to the community. My parents are frequent patrons of Marvino's and they recently had an issue with to go meal they ordered, it was extremely dry and items were missing from the order so my dad called to speak with the manager and let them know and had the misfortune of speaking to Alan. Marvino's advertises that they do deliveries so my dad asked if this one time the missing items could be delivered and Alan was extremely hostile. He took high personal offense to my dad's complaint and started yelling at my parents, denying that they could deliver, and telling my dad to come back to the restaurant and see what happens and that my dad doesn't know who Alan is as a "man" but implying that he'd find out and that it'd be violent. THIS IS A DANGEROUSLY UNSTABLE INDIVIDUAL. He is not fit to be a manager at a restaurant. Our family owns a successful business and a big part of that is accepting feedback from customers in a healthy manner and accepting when things go less than perfectly. I believe that Alan needs to go back to basics, heck, maybe even back to nursery school and he needs to learn how to resolve a conflict without getting his feelings hurt. At the end of the day, this is a business. There is no reason to get irate and use threatening speech towards someone over a bowl of pasta. Frankly this is ridiculous and I urge the cypress community to not go to this establishment. It is not fun to write a less than charming review about a restaurant. Particularly when you have gone there for several years. It has never been a Zagat nominee, but it was just comfortable neighborhood place to catch a quick bite with good food. Today however was shocking. We arrived about 1 pm, not the lunch hour, but there should be some late straggling diners at that hour.....there wasn't. We decided to sit at the bar a grab a quick lunch. We waited for what seemed to be a long time, finally the bar tender/wait person came from the kitchen, gave menus and got our drinks. Then she left for another long wait. When she returned we order while we could. My wife's meal was a chopped salad with a wonderful " I don't Know" dressing but it did have small Brussels sprouts served al dente. Take from me, Brussels sprouts served that way are not good. My order was linguine, red pepper, olive oil and garlic , with grilled shrimp. It didn't show up at the table quite like that. It was linguine but the shrimp was baked with no seasoning, but had plenty of garlic, and a "dash" of olive oil. It had all the flavor of aged cardboard. I had to go to the kitchen to retrieve my wayward wait person - who was eating lunch- to get my Parmesan and red pepper flakes. We finished the meal, rather hurriedly I might add, and then I had to run her down for the check. She asked how the meal was and I informed her that the chef should really try to take a cooking coarse to refresh his/her skills. The wait person apologized and handed me the tab. ($24.00 for a bowl of pasta and a few "baked" shrimp! I should have told my server that she too should think about a career change for she certainly will not be moving up Vic and Anthony's any time soon. I guess they are telling themselves that Covid-19 has ruined their restaurant. A year ago you would have believed that, but if today was any indication of how the food is served, you shouldn't blame that on the virus, but poor management. Came here for a nice family dinner. The food was very good and will warrant returning. The service was quite lackluster and makes it hard to want to revisit. A clear disdain was shown for patrons who were not immediately interested in imbibing wine or other alcoholic beverages. After requesting menus (menus aren't given when you are seated, but must be requested after being forced to wait for your server, who clearly expects to be serving alcoholic beverages before any discussion of dinner options), we were pawned off on another server without any explanation. This other server showed consistent disinterest in providing decent service. He never proactively handled anything, from providing flatware and a plate for our fifth person (at a five-person table) with the bread to observing when our drinks were empty and offering refills, to following through with promised items in a timely manner and without requiring multiple reminders. In general, once the servers here decide you don't fit some preconceived notion of a big spender, they apparently shift into neutral and show a blatant disregard for your needs and their job, doing only the bare minimum. So, food: great. Service: poor. We will probably give them one more shot based solely on the fact we all really enjoyed our food. We quite a distance Saturday to enjoy the Houston Restaurant Week menu. We always call to make sure it is available on the weekend. It wasn't. They handed us a dinner menu at 2pm and a brunch menu. Of course we were surprised and disappointed after being told lunch was available. That was just the beginning. We were given the menus and water. I was pleasantly surprised at the ambiance of this restaurant! The interior design was adorable and inviting with plenty of rooms to host larger events. The facility was neat and clean, the restrooms were also well kept. Now onto the food! Tomato basil soup got a 10/10 from my family! We are big fans of the tomato basil from La Madeleine and agreed that this one is much better. Unfortunately the Italian wedding soup was incredibly salty. The caprese salad was incredibly fresh and worth the extra charge. All our entrees were delightful! I even asked for green beans and spinach to be steamed and they were happy to fulfill my request. I would say Olive Garden and this place are pretty equivalent, but that's just me. We had the creme brûlée and tiramisu. Both rich, sweet, and tasty! Our server even brought me extra strawberries! All of our food came out perfectly timely. We weren't waiting or rushed. We came on a Sunday during lunch time, and our staff was attentive and fulfilled all our requests! The tomato soup is so good!!!! I think this is the best tomato soup I've ever had in town so far!!!! It's not very sour, and has a good balance between sour and sweet. The linguine with clam, my boyfriend defined it as "amazingly good," it taste very fresh. Highly recommend! The crab cake (I forgot the name on the menu) is also delicious, it taste not creamy at all. All the dishes look delicious and so are the taste. The ambiance was nice, service started out good, the server/s were friendly and attentive at first but then it turned and at the end, it no longer was. A soup that we ordered to come out with the appetizers never was brought out, it took three requests to finally get a Diet Coke, water and Prosecco was not refilled, one of the main courses was initially forgotten and finally brought out late, a $90 steak and shrimp dinner was put out cold and simply warmed up which dried out the shrimp. The service is outstanding, we were greeted when entering and when taken to our table our waiter (Reyes) greeted us and was able to answer all of the questions. The crab cake & raw oysters were great!! I had the Akaushi Lasagna which is made with angus ground beef not meat sauce and it was so good. My husband had the Chicken Marvino, the chicken was tender & juicy and well seasoned, he replaced the green beans with angel hair paste & he had no complaints!!!
