Our server Michael and Jose were great but the food was just not coming out. We waited 20 minutes for bread, then another 25 minutes for the salad and then the entrée came out after 2 hours! Well... I would love to say that I've found my new favorite Italian restaurant but... I can not. I've come here twice. Both times with similar experiences. The first time my food was delicious , yet my boyfriends wasn't. This time it was my turn to have some not so delicious food. It's a shame really. The restaurant itself is so cute. The decor is warm and inviting and not to mention totally italiano. The wait staff and hostess are always very prompt and their customer service is wonderful. It's just the food. The best part of our meals both times has been the bread well, and the wine. I love exploring new restaurants and consider myself quiet the foodie. This time around I had the Lobster Tortellini. The pasta was over or undercooked not quiet sure which but either way not cooked. It was also stuffed with lobster. I love lobster, this tasted like a little lobster mixed with Italian sausage... not good. I set my plate to the side to discuss with my waiter how I didn't it care for the dish but the "busser" cleared it away before I had the chance. We used to go to Marvinos about once a quarter - but never again. The last two times (4 months apart) we went we ordered veal. The first time the waiter told us they didn't have any bk the meat shipment they received "was rotten" and not fit for human consumption - not how I would describe it when we were about to eat dinner. I commented about the addition of several steaks and that the prices seemed higher - waiter indicated they were trying to reposition themselves as a higher end restaurant with steaks - they failed. They have also changed their complimentary bread - which isn't worth requesting. When we went a second time 4 months later, attempted to order another veal dish and was told they had problems with their supplier and thus had not veal - still meat supplier problems 4 months later. If they were the higher end restaurant that they aspire to be - they should focus on the back of house operations and their meat supplier problems instead of on raising their prices. Also the restaurant seems to always have a strong smell of Fabulosa. The price increases seem to be a common theme at their Dario's restaurant. read more

My party and I were extremely disappointed with the food. The oysters were not fresh, and had an "ocean" after taste. The lobster ravioli did not taste fresh either, almost like frozen lobster was stuffed in the pasta. I will not be eating here again. read more

I called Marvino's Saturday, 02/08 at 7:30PM to ask what thier current wait time was; a young lady told me "about 20 minutes", I said great we'll be there shortly. She never said anything else except, "ok, thank you!". My family of four arrive at 8:00PM. BTW, over half of Marvino's parking lot is blocked for "complementary/forced valet"...complementary is never complementary! You always have to tip the valet. Why would you need to block over half of your parking lot!? It's not a small lot, they had a minimum of 30 space blocked!! Really, Marvino's?? We self park and make our way into the restaurant and tell the hostess table for four, please. She looks down on the short list in front of her and says "just a mInute", a man then walks up next to her and says "do you have a reservation", I said I don't have a reservation, I just called and was told there was a 20 min wait. At this point, there's only one family of four in the vestibule waiting, that's it! He then asked, "what's the name?"...WTF??...I'm getting really confused...I give him my name, he then says, "sorry, we just cant take you,". I'm totally puzzled at this point, I look around the restaurant and can tell it's not jam packed, I asked why, the man just a says "we can't". Nothing else! I've never been turn away from a restaurant, EVER! I've had to walk away b/c they had a 90 min. wait or something crazy, but at least they gave me a time I'd have to wait...not, "WE CAN'T". Marvino's IS NOT Steak 48 or Post Oak Grill!! It's a glorified Olive Garden!! Why would you turn guests away at 8:00PM when you close at 10:30PM?? First time at this restaurant- recommended for a family birthday brunch. Made reservations 2 weeks in advance, asked permission to bring a cake (granted), and asked if they had Wi-Fi to use for a quick zoom for birthday girl. All good. Arrive 30 min early to secure table and Wi-Fi set up. Reservation nowhere to be found, and as we were first customers, staff quickly accommodated. Family arrived at once, drink and app orders taken, party of 14 looking at both lunch and brunch menus we were given. Orders taken and salads and apps arrive, and manager pops out (this is 30 min in) to say the lunch menu is not available. Those 5 meals are quickly changed and off goes the staff. An hour later we have no meals, we inquire every 10 minutes to no avail. Then finally one of our party gets to the manager and he explains there was a missing order in the kitchen, food is coming within 20 more minutes! All tables around us (5 others) are seated, and receive food during this time. Busser keeps our water and tea full, no other offers for drinks are extended, nor refills of bread. As I'm about to have family walk out, food comes out, short two meals. The entire party finished eating and then we hear our last two are on their way, we tell them to box it to go. I asked for and received cake plates to serve cake, which went over well. We get the bill. No apologies, 20% off tab. Waiter is beside himself as manager basically blames him(!) We have celebrated my parents birthday at this restaurant, year after year, and I am afraid that this tradition has ended. I am not sure if the management has changed, but we have seen a major decrease in customer service and the food quality. The oil with spices that was given to us had barely any herbs in it, and the waiters didn't seam enthusiastic about her job. He have been ordering pork chops time after time, and they used to be thick and juicy, but now they are dry, overcooked and significantly smaller. Plus, the menu has changed and the pork chop is missing the polenta, and it's not coming with a side included anymore. After talking to the bank and confirming time and date and establishment, I called Marvino's about it and they denied and argued that no one in their establishment steals. Used to love this place, but we had my mother's birthday party there and was disappointed. They have good food and it's a beautiful restaurant. I'm only giving it 2 stars because they didn't abide by the signed contract. We were quoted a price and when we got there the day of the party the manager who made the arrangements with us wasn't there, and the manager on duty gave us a different price. We were charged almost double what was in the contract, then he told us the contract was just an estimate mind you we had less amount of people then what we had guaranteed. Manager said there will be kids menu and the kids will choose from it not only it wasn't provided they forced the kids to order from the adults menu. We weren't aware of this until after the party when my kids and nephews told us they told them they only have adults menu. Since it was a surprised Birthday party for my mother we went along with it. The menu is expansive and there are options for everyone. The caprese salad was delicious. You can ask for anchovies on a caesar salad for no additional charge. They offer a large wine list at fair prices. I had the seafood tortellini and loved it. The chicken alfredo was simple, but delicious. I used my yelp coupon for a free dessert - couldn't have been more impressed with the tiramisu! Only complaint was that the blackberry pie had little filling....... We decided to give Marvino's another try after some mediocre experiences. We went for our anniversary. It was a poor decision. We asked the waiter for straws for our water - they never came. Eventually we flagged someone down and she brought us a container of straws within 10 seconds. We ordered glasses of wine - after 10 to 15 minutes of waiting I went to the bar to ask them to please send the drinks to our table. After dinner the waiter brought the check and said he would box up the rest of our meal. After 10 to 15 minutes of waiting I got up, found him, and gave him my credit card for payment. He brought the check and credit card back, left, and never brought our to-go box. This place has had plenty of time to improve their service and they have continually failed to do so. I went in this evening with a friend of mine and we had an amazing dinner. Our server's name was Reagan and he was very nice and helpful. I ordered the 8oz filet mignon and it came with a choice of a soup or salad. i ordered the house salad and the dressing on it is mouth watering. I ordered the filet mignon medium rare and it came out cooked to perfection. I got an add on to the steak of peppercorn cream sauce (not seen in picture) and it was very good! my friend ordered the grilled Norwegian salmon that came with parmesan risotto and i tasted it, i definitely will be ordering that next time! For desert i ordered the crème brûlée and it was perfect, sweet but not too sweet. She ordered the strawberry cheesecake and enjoyed it as well. Went on a Friday night around 7:30 pm and was immediately seated. No reservation necessary! Afrer being seated you're served a basket of garlic bread and a herb-olive oil, which was quite tasty. For an appetizer we went with the fried mozzarella and it did not disappoint. It was more of a mozzarella log, and not some weak cylindrical fried tube that you see at other Italian spots. The menu has your typical Italian-american fare of eggplant parmesan, chicken scaloppini, lasagna, chicken marsala, etc. I went with the linguini with sausage and meatballs. The arrabiata sauce that covered the linguini and sausages was savory, spicy and had a little bit of sweetness to it . The sausage had a little bit of a kick to it too. The plate also came with one meatball, which I though was pretty good, although I wish it had more of crisper crust to it on the outside. Overall Marvin's is a solid Italian restaurant with a relaxing atmosphere and good food. This was my first time trying it and I definitely plan on coming back. read more

Poor service during Covid-19 takeout...I ordered 4 entrees & 2 desserts Sun. evening for delivery. 2 of my entrees(shrimp alfredo) were unsatisfactory, smelled BAD! Not sure if the shrimp or the Alfredo sauce was the culprit. We could not eat it. I called and spoke to Marvin @ opening the next day about the order. He took my name & phone # and ask me "what was I looking to get from this?"!! Rude.... We chose Marviinos to celebrate my birthday. I had 18 guest and called to confirm that the restaurant could accommodate a party of that size and separate the check. I was told yes and that Marvinos would love to have us. My husband confirmed when we were seated that we could have separate checks. I also asked if bringing a cake would be a problem. I was told there would be a $3.00 dollar per person fee for the restaurant to serve the cake. I brought in my own plates forks and cake knife and served our guests myself. When we were presented the bill $1xxx.x we were told they don't do separate checks and they charged a $30.00 cake fee. The food was ok the service was ok. The menu had changed since we last ate here and the prices seemed a little higher, but once the food was served, it was well worth it! I had the Chicken Marvino. The chicken was very tender and the shrimp was the best I think I've ever had. Two very large shrimp, cooked to perfection and tasty! But more importantly, our waitress, Ashley, was outstanding! She was helpful and very sweet. She had us laughing and sharing experiences. She really made our dining experience a great one. The wait staff was all very attentive but Ashley made our night! Can't say enough about her. Since Covid, it's not often you have a "great" experience like that. Everyone is short staffed and short on patience. It's was a great evening! The restaurant itself is very nice, like being in an Italian villa. Whoever designed the restaurant and built it deserves credit. It's a great addition to the area. It was pretty empty on Saturday for a lunch. Granted, we were there late at around 1:30 but I would have expected to see people finishing their meals at least. They have the best facility in Cypress which has a pretty big population now. It should be bustling with business. The bread was good. The food was not amazing or anything. It was not bad but it just did not blow me away. I didn't really like my lunch menu chicken all that much. My soup was objectively good. My dad said his pasta with shrimp was good. Visited Friday, March 9 for dinner. National meatball day! Of course, I had meatballs as an appetizer and my partner had a wedge salad. She also ordered the ahi tuna special while I had a meat-lovers pizza. The tuna was cooked to rare and he pizza was very good, if a LOT of food. I took half of it home for breakfast the next day. We got a decent deal on a Spanish wine and started the meal with cocktails. Service was prompt, you get two waiters on most nights and a busser here so it should be. For a rodeo night the room was full. Still, arriving at 8PM we were immediately sat and the server was there to take our drink orders immediately. I was impressed with the wine service, it was an older wine (2000) and the cork was fragile but the waiter was able to open it without cork fragments getting in the wine. Overall it was an enjoyable experience, this place has a beautiful room, a good bar and consistently good food. We were going to go to cheddars and my son kept begging for pizza and I had told him tough luck. However when we drove into the parking lot we saw an Italian restaurant and we thought we would appease his requests. This is a fairly new restaurant has not been here very long, everything was very clean and the wait staff was very nice. Even our wait staff was new because they were still learning the menu, but our waiter did his best to answer our questions and find out the answer even if he didn't know it. Now to the problems I have with this place. My son is 6 years old when we walked in and told the hostess party of three there was a manager that had walked up and told her to put us in a certain room, it didn't make much sense to me then and I can't remember the name of the room that he said, but he did direct her to put us in a certain place. When we walked into this part of the restaurant I noticed that every single table in the room had children probably five years old and younger. Three of the tables had infants and they are the reason I noticed this........because two of the babies were screaming and crying. So immediately when we sat down I felt we were being segregated but I wasn't sure until I got up and went to use the restroom and looked around the restaurant and saw that there were no kids sitting anywhere else in the restaurant except for where we were sitting. So if you are bringing your children here be prepared to be sat in a room with other families have young children. Next as my wife and I were talking I was looking at her and noticing that it was a bit hard to see her while we talked and I made the comment "it is pretty dark in here, I can hardly see you". We had a little laugh about it and that was that. It was funny though to see other people who got sat in our section pulling out their phones and turning on the flashlight in order to be able to read the menu. So a tip for them might be to turn the lights just a little brighter. The food was great I will say that it did seem a little pricey but hey $20 for some seafood pasta is about the going rate give or take a few bucks. It did seem like the shrimp in my pasta was a little bit overcooked, the shrimp were rubbery. The taste was good and we enjoyed ourselves. I had my first experience at Marvinos today and oh by the way, I'm an executive chef. Ambience- The look is fabulous. The design and feel is warm and has a classic Italian feel. Waiters and employees looked clean and professional and friendly. Food- The rustic bread was very good and the olive oil dipping mixture was great and full of flavor. Unfortunately that is where the train stopped. The minestrone soup was tart and forgettable and I had to send it back because of low content in soup, the second soup was better but again noting signature and I should have been offer parmesan cheese for my soup. I also ordered the chicken fettuccine and the chicken was bland and looked poached. The pasta was chewy and firm although I was told the pasta was made in house. Generally fresh pasta is light and fluffy in your mouth. The sauce tasted like reduced condensed milk and I felt It should have been more pungent and the did not garnish it with cheese. I have to say the did however try to make things right and I give them a thumb up for that but the dish was again forgettable. Summary- Marvinos has a lot of potential and the staff need to revisit some menu items and make the dishes a entree that make a statement and oh, please scrap the minestrone soup recipe altogether, I know the can do better. I decided to give this place a try after realizing I have yet to experience Marvino's. It was about 1:30ish when I arrives and thought the lunch special had ended which actually didn't end until 3. The place is spacious & beautiful. I love the outside lighting and how it reflects inside. The bar area in the middle is also a nice view as you can watch sporting events on their many TVs. I ordered from the lunch menu the chicken lasagna. I've never had chicken lasagna but thought I would try it. The food came out super fast and was hot! I tasted it and wasn't impressed. The texture was pasted in cheddar cheese. I'm used to ground beef but the taste and flavor of this recipe was not a favorite. I kindly told the waiter and asked if I could substitute it for the spaghetti. He said that was fine. The manager walked over, I again explained how I didn't care for it and he said that I could order something else. Please note, I used to work in the restaurant industry and no matter how much I didn't like something I would never send it back, in fear of what I may receive next but these guys were very nice about it and said it wouldn't be a problem. The spaghetti was amazing! Hot, fresh and with a kick of spice. The customer service was A+. Can't remember the guys name but the waiter was very attentive and was even entertaining while showing the dessert selections. The way he was selling, you would think a bonus is included lol I did order some bread pudding to-go and boy oh boy, it was good! A little too sweet but moist & yummy. My family and I used to frequent this place often. The food just isn't how it used to be. Today I paid 9.99 for 2 mushrooms stuffed with sausage. These were normal small mushrooms you buy in a pack at kroger for 2.99, not portobello.... not worth 9.99. You don't get what you pay for at this establishment. My eggplant was thin and cooked well which is a positive as previously it was thick and raw so that's a change for the better. But as I said before it is not good quality any longer. As a parent, I appreciate when the waiter acknowledged my kids at the dinner table. They did just that, they interacted with my kids.
