I called Marvino's Saturday, 02/08 at 7:30PM to ask what thier current wait time was; a young lady told me "about 20 minutes", I said great we'll be there shortly. She never said anything else except, "ok, thank you!". My family of four arrive at 8:00PM. BTW, over half of Marvino's parking lot is blocked for "complementary/forced valet"...complementary is never complementary! You always have to tip the valet. Why would you need to block over half of your parking lot!? It's not a small lot, they had a minimum of 30 space blocked!! Really, Marvino's?? We self park and make our way into the restaurant and tell the hostess table for four, please. She looks down on the short list in front of her and says "just a mInute", a man then walks up next to her and says "do you have a reservation", I said I don't have a reservation, I just called and was told there was a 20 min wait. At this point, there's only one family of four in the vestibule waiting, that's it! He then asked, "what's the name?"...WTF??...I'm getting really confused...I give him my name, he then says, "sorry, we just cant take you,". I'm totally puzzled at this point, I look around the restaurant and can tell it's not jam packed, I asked why, the man just a says "we can't". Nothing else! I've never been turn away from a restaurant, EVER! I've had to walk away b/c they had a 90 min. wait or something crazy, but at least they gave me a time I'd have to wait...not, "WE CAN'T". Marvino's IS NOT Steak 48 or Post Oak Grill!! It's a glorified Olive Garden!! Why would you turn guests away at 8:00PM when you close at 10:30PM?? Especially when there's obviously NOT a line out the door, but only one party waiting!! We turn around and walked out and found a hidden italian gem right down the road at Fry and 290; Azul Italian Kitchen, they had awesome service, staff, drinks and menu...and they don't have complementary/forced valet! read more

First time at this restaurant- recommended for a family birthday brunch. Made reservations 2 weeks in advance, asked permission to bring a cake (granted), and asked if they had Wi-Fi to use for a quick zoom for birthday girl. All good. Arrive 30 min early to secure table and Wi-Fi set up. Reservation nowhere to be found, and as we were first customers, staff quickly accommodated. Family arrived at once, drink and app orders taken, party of 14 looking at both lunch and brunch menus we were given. Orders taken and salads and apps arrive, and manager pops out (this is 30 min in) to say the lunch menu is not available. Those 5 meals are quickly changed and off goes the staff. An hour later we have no meals, we inquire every 10 minutes to no avail. Then finally one of our party gets to the manager and he explains there was a missing order in the kitchen, food is coming within 20 more minutes! All tables around us (5 others) are seated, and receive food during this time. Busser keeps our water and tea full, no other offers for drinks are extended, nor refills of bread. As I'm about to have family walk out, food comes out, short two meals. The entire party finished eating and then we hear our last two are on their way, we tell them to box it to go. I asked for and received cake plates to serve cake, which went over well. We get the bill. No apologies, 20% off tab. Waiter is beside himself as manager basically blames him(!) Very, very disappointed, as I planned it so carefully for my mom's 80th birthday, and family DROVE IN FROM AUSTIN for the party and this is what we got. Manager has work to do. read more

Food tasted great but portions were VERY small. It's rare that I can finish my food. I'm not what you'd consider a heavy eater. I've never left a restaurant still hungry after finishing all of my food until yesterday! The house salad was the smallest salad I've ever seen. The raviolis looked like a child's portion. Well the food and the service was great, but this establishment charged me for my meal the night of me being there then the next day added another $20 to my bill and recharged me again. After talking to the bank and confirming time and date and establishment, I called Marvino's about it and they denied and argued that no one in their establishment steals. And that I should dispute the charges as opposed to fixing the problem and not stealing from their customers. Absolutely never use ur card here and I'd never go back. Used to love this place, but we had my mother's birthday party there and was disappointed. They have good food and it's a beautiful restaurant. I'm only giving it 2 stars because they didn't abide by the signed contract. We were quoted a price and when we got there the day of the party the manager who made the arrangements with us wasn't there, and the manager on duty gave us a different price. We were charged almost double what was in the contract, then he told us the contract was just an estimate mind you we had less amount of people then what we had guaranteed. Manager said there will be kids menu and the kids will choose from it not only it wasn't provided they forced the kids to order from the adults menu. We weren't aware of this until after the party when my kids and nephews told us they told them they only have adults menu. Since it was a surprised Birthday party for my mother we went along with it. The menu is expansive and there are options for everyone. The caprese salad was delicious. You can ask for anchovies on a caesar salad for no additional charge. They offer a large wine list at fair prices. I had the seafood tortellini and loved it. The chicken alfredo was simple, but delicious. I used my yelp coupon for a free dessert - couldn't have been more impressed with the tiramisu! Only complaint was that the blackberry pie had little filling....... We decided to give Marvino's another try after some mediocre experiences. We went for our anniversary. It was a poor decision. We asked the waiter for straws for our water - they never came. Eventually we flagged someone down and she brought us a container of straws within 10 seconds. We ordered glasses of wine - after 10 to 15 minutes of waiting I went to the bar to ask them to please send the drinks to our table. After dinner the waiter brought the check and said he would box up the rest of our meal. After 10 to 15 minutes of waiting I got up, found him, and gave him my credit card for payment. He brought the check and credit card back, left, and never brought our to-go box. This place has had plenty of time to improve their service and they have continually failed to do so. The chicken piccata had no discernible lemon flavor and was too salty. The fettuccine Alfredo had no flavor and was dry. Both the chicken and pasta had a strange sweet taste. I went in this evening with a friend of mine and we had an amazing dinner. Our server's name was Reagan and he was very nice and helpful. I ordered the 8oz filet mignon and it came with a choice of a soup or salad. i ordered the house salad and the dressing on it is mouth watering. I ordered the filet mignon medium rare and it came out cooked to perfection. I got an add on to the steak of peppercorn cream sauce (not seen in picture) and it was very good! my friend ordered the grilled Norwegian salmon that came with parmesan risotto and i tasted it, i definitely will be ordering that next time! For desert i ordered the crème brûlée and it was perfect, sweet but not too sweet. She ordered the strawberry cheesecake and enjoyed it as well. Went on a Friday night around 7:30 pm and was immediately seated. No reservation necessary! Afrer being seated you're served a basket of garlic bread and a herb-olive oil, which was quite tasty. For an appetizer we went with the fried mozzarella and it did not disappoint. It was more of a mozzarella log, and not some weak cylindrical fried tube that you see at other Italian spots. The menu has your typical Italian-american fare of eggplant parmesan, chicken scaloppini, lasagna, chicken marsala, etc. I went with the linguini with sausage and meatballs. The arrabiata sauce that covered the linguini and sausages was savory, spicy and had a little bit of sweetness to it . The sausage had a little bit of a kick to it too. The plate also came with one meatball, which I though was pretty good, although I wish it had more of crisper crust to it on the outside. Overall Marvin's is a solid Italian restaurant with a relaxing atmosphere and good food. This was my first time trying it and I definitely plan on coming back. read more

Poor service during Covid-19 takeout...I ordered 4 entrees & 2 desserts Sun. evening for delivery. 2 of my entrees(shrimp alfredo) were unsatisfactory, smelled BAD! Not sure if the shrimp or the Alfredo sauce was the culprit. We could not eat it. I called and spoke to Marvin @ opening the next day about the order. He took my name & phone # and ask me "what was I looking to get from this?"!! Rude.... We chose Marviinos to celebrate my birthday. I had 18 guest and called to confirm that the restaurant could accommodate a party of that size and separate the check. I was told yes and that Marvinos would love to have us. My husband confirmed when we were seated that we could have separate checks. I also asked if bringing a cake would be a problem. I was told there would be a $3.00 dollar per person fee for the restaurant to serve the cake. I brought in my own plates forks and cake knife and served our guests myself. When we were presented the bill $1xxx.x we were told they don't do separate checks and they charged a $30.00 cake fee. The food was ok the service was ok. We haven't been in a couple years, but was craving something different. The menu had changed since we last ate here and the prices seemed a little higher, but once the food was served, it was well worth it! I had the Chicken Marvino. The chicken was very tender and the shrimp was the best I think I've ever had. Two very large shrimp, cooked to perfection and tasty! But more importantly, our waitress, Ashley, was outstanding! She was helpful and very sweet. She had us laughing and sharing experiences. She really made our dining experience a great one. The wait staff was all very attentive but Ashley made our night! Can't say enough about her. Since Covid, it's not often you have a "great" experience like that. Everyone is short staffed and short on patience. It's was a great evening! The restaurant itself is very nice, like being in an Italian villa. Whoever designed the restaurant and built it deserves credit. It's a great addition to the area. It was pretty empty on Saturday for a lunch. Granted, we were there late at around 1:30 but I would have expected to see people finishing their meals at least. They have the best facility in Cypress which has a pretty big population now. It should be bustling with business. The bread was good. The food was not amazing or anything. It was not bad but it just did not blow me away. I didn't really like my lunch menu chicken all that much. My soup was objectively good. My dad said his pasta with shrimp was good. Visited Friday, March 9 for dinner. National meatball day! Of course, I had meatballs as an appetizer and my partner had a wedge salad. She also ordered the ahi tuna special while I had a meat-lovers pizza. The tuna was cooked to rare and he pizza was very good, if a LOT of food. I took half of it home for breakfast the next day. We got a decent deal on a Spanish wine and started the meal with cocktails. Service was prompt, you get two waiters on most nights and a busser here so it should be. For a rodeo night the room was full. Still, arriving at 8PM we were immediately sat and the server was there to take our drink orders immediately. I was impressed with the wine service, it was an older wine (2000) and the cork was fragile but the waiter was able to open it without cork fragments getting in the wine. Overall it was an enjoyable experience, this place has a beautiful room, a good bar and consistently good food. I found the service to be very good given the location and appreciate having multiple wait-staff assigned to my table to clear plates, refill water etc. read more

My family and I used to frequent this place often. The food just isn't how it used to be. Today I paid 9.99 for 2 mushrooms stuffed with sausage. These were normal small mushrooms you buy in a pack at kroger for 2.99, not portobello.... not worth 9.99. You don't get what you pay for at this establishment. My eggplant was thin and cooked well which is a positive as previously it was thick and raw so that's a change for the better. But as I said before it is not good quality any longer. Marvino's has a long way to go to provide quality Italian food. Went here last night (9/13/16) for a birthday dinner, and was underwhelmed: -Menu is HUGE and UNFOCUSED (in terms of what should be Italian food). 15 appetizers, 14 pastas, and 21 entrees. Being that the *very first* item on the menu is the 'Duck Spring Roll' and they call them selves an Italian kitchen -- this should give you an idea of just how unfocused they are on the food. It definitely gave me pause (and a chuckle). There's no way they're prepping that large of a menu fresh, and/or from all the best sources. As for the food: -The calamari appetizer was well cooked. -The chicken marsala I had was not good. Noticed it had sun-dried tomatoes (per the menu) which is not an ingredient in traditional marsala, but thought I'd try. Unfortunately given they put a ton of sun-dried tomatoes in the sauce it totally overwhelms the marsala, chicken (which also wasn't well seasoned), mushrooms -- basically everything that you're supposed to taste in the dish. -I only tried a small bite of my girlfriend's chicken piccata, and it was WAY heavy on the lemon. -Portions are HUGE; barely even ate half. It's unfortunate as I always enjoy Alicia's (same ownership), but it's clear things are lacking here. Service, environment, and people were all very nice -- just not the food. Quiet intimate place, waiter was nice and friendly, bread with garlic oil was very good, appetizers were delicious, my mother in law loved her stuffed clams, calamari and fried mozzarella were great, I was already full by the time we had to order entree which came with a salad, I had the Caesar salad, it was very good. The chicken fettuccine Alfredo was great, I only gave 4 stars because my mother in law unfortunately did not like her gulf red snapper. Overall service was great and even though my mother in law did not like her entree everything else was great. The manager was kind and removed the snapper off of our bill. Dessert we took Home. Came here on a quiet Sunday with my boyfriend and two friends. It was really peaceful and I liked the atmosphere. Our waitress Melanie was really professional and helpful. I really liked their basil tomato soup and their Angel Wings cocktail. The menu was so big that we just decided to order the filet mignon special and seabass special that our waitress recommended.
