It is hands-down the best around. The steak itself is great, but the homemade gravy is next-level. It's incredibly rich and creamy, and packed with delicious, savory chunks of bacon. I'd honestly eat that gravy on just about anything! The only thing to keep in mind is the timing. We came for the first time on a Sunday and were a little disappointed with how slow the service was. Came in here for breakfast and really enjoyed the chilaquiles. The sauce was delicious. More flavorful than spicy. I do wish it was a bit more spicy but I know not many people do, so I did add more spice to my plate which worked out! I opted for the black beans versus refried, and the combo went well. There is ample of space to park in the parking lot, and plenty of seating inside. The booths weren't too particularly comfortable, but that's ok. I really wanted breakfast and I did a quick search and this place came up. Let me tell you, any place that specializes in chilaquiles is good in my book. And this place did not disappoint. I got the Chilaquiles Los Compadres which is their most popular platter with rice, beans, carne asada, and both their green and red chilaquiles. It was so good! I can't wait to go back when I drive up to wine country from the city. I also got a cup of their Cafe de Olla which is a sweetened and spiced coffee. So comforting and the perfect amount of sweetness. And served in adorable traditional mugs. It was a Saturday morning and the restaurant was maybe 50% full at 11am. But even with that, the service was quite slow. Not that I don't think the servers were hustling, just that I think they were understaffed. Since it was Memorial Day, I do think the food took longer than usual, and it took about 40 minutes for everyone's meals to arrive, though the drinks came out fast. Our table ordered both the red and green chilaquiles, along with a few other smaller dishes. I'd come back again to see if the food turnaround time is quicker on a regular day. The highlight for me was definitely the café de olla -- perfectly balanced with just the right amount of sweetness. We chose this restaurant for Father's Day because we've had good experiences here in the past. Unfortunately, this visit was a complete disaster. We arrived at 10:15 and didn't get our food--because it never came. We waited over an hour after ordering, with zero check-ins, zero refills, and zero communication. We had to chase down staff just to get water. What made it worse was the attitude. When we asked a lead employee about the delay, she didn't apologize--she blamed us, saying we didn't get our order in fast enough. Meanwhile, we watched multiple smaller tables who ordered after us get their food long before we ever saw ours. When we finally cancelled our order, the cooks were only then starting on it. The owner never came over, never apologized, never offered a discount, nothing. For a holiday meal with family, this was embarrassing and unacceptable. Husband wanted a Mexican breakfast and our usual favorite spot was closed. We were both surprised, given the name of the restaurant, at how few Mexican dishes were actually offered. Basically felt like any other American diner with a handful of Mexican options. Chips and salsa are not served here. My husband went for their chilaquiles rojo with chorizo and black beans (refried was also an option). They asked if he'd like to add avocado to which he said yes, and they asked if onion, cheese, and sour cream was okay (yes). I ordered a simple two egg breakfast with hashbrowns and sausage links. My husband really really enjoyed his chilaquiles. The sauce was thick and flavorful, and the chips still had some crunch (soggy chips are the worst). The chopped raw onion was a nice touch and added good flavor to the dish. His avocado was nice and fresh. He had asked for salsa and was brought Tapatío and a chili oil of some kind, which he said had good flavor. My meal was good- eggs were cooked perfectly and seemed to be of good quality based on the richness of the yolk- and my sausage was good. My hashbrowns seemed like they barely touched the grill- not at all crispy which was a bummer. Service was just a tad lacking (though polite) and we were only checked on after nearly completing our meals. When our food was initially delivered, my meal was missing an element so I had to flag someone down to ask for it, and my drink glass ran dry before I completed my meal but was not offered a refill. Nothing that would deter us from returning but I would have appreciated a little more attentiveness. Overall we enjoyed our experience and will likely return. I will definitely ask for my hashbrowns to be extra crispy next time. One thing I want to mention is that they are currently charging an additional $2.00 for any dish that contains eggs, dealing with the shortage and increased pricing themselves. read more

If you love diner food or Mexican diner food, this place is for you. The chilaquiles was so tasty. All dishes come with two hot sauces. One of them is REALLY spicy, both are very good. One drink I hadn't seen before was the cafe de Olla. It seems to be a coffee brewed with brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg and other spices. It was superb! Lety and her sister "Malu" opened up this gem about 6 months ago. I happened to be browsing Yelp for brunch spots and came across their restaurant and this most amazing picture of chilaquiles with carne asada. My friends know that I have cut red meat out of my diet for about 4/5 months now but I felt like I needed to try it as pictured. Was NOT disappointed. Armando greeted me on my way in and I chose to sit at the bar. He provided excellent customer service. The chilaquiles are better than the picture, even better than my picture. You absolutely need to see them in person. The serving is huge, me and a friend could easily be full off sharing a plate. The steak was cooked exceptionally well, not over seasoned, and a quality cut. The eggs were the co-leading role as crazy as it seems, not all eggs are created equal and theirs are buttery and just so delicious I could easily come just for a side of scrambled eggs and be satisfied. Back to Lety and MaLu - they took a chance and opened a restaurant that is family run, family recipes, and deserves to be a staple in our community. The torta ahogada was spicier than expected, so just take note of that. It was also huge! I was filled up with half of it. My partner got the chilaquiles. Both the green and red ones were super yummy. My only complaint is that the meat could have been served a bit warmer. The customer service was top notch. Everyone was very kind and welcoming. I was looking for a breakfast burrito place that I had not tried. Found Chilaquiles Los Compadres on yelp and thought I'd try it out. Upon entering the restaurant I immediately noticed the place was clean and inviting. I was treated at the front counter by a smiling staff member who took my order of a breakfast burrito with sausage. I had the option of bacon, ham and chorizo also but I tend to go sausage when I'm first trying a place. I was also able to order a Pepsi Zero Sugar which I appreciate because not everyone has it. Within several minutes I was served a massive burrito wrapped in foil. I thought for sure it would be packed with potatoes or rice that would give it such mass. Imagine my delight as I took my first bite and it was all egg, sausage and cheese. I then realized that the tortilla was lined with a thin layer of hash browns. It was incredible. I have always been a fan of hash browns over chunks of potato in my breakfast burrito. I wish I would have taken a picture of the cross section. The salsa that came with the burrito was a mild tomato puree and had good flavor. They had other options but I was sticking with basic flavors Every bite of this breakfast burrito was full of flavor and had hash brown, cheese, egg and sausage in it. It was outstanding. This place was ok as far as the food goes, had the chicken fried steak. The gravy was good, however the breading had a strange taste that I did not enjoy. I asked for hash browns and received the potatoes. When I brought this up, they quickly brought at the hash browns. We had to ask for refills. And when they brought out my ice tea the waitress reached across the table even though I was sitting closest to her. As doing so she spilled some of the ice tea on my breakfast. All what was said was ooooops. I could have tried to complained and maybe got the ok meal comped, though the previous service told me it would be a lost cause. My wife had seen a written about this restaurant on facebook and asked me if I would be willing to try it and I am extremely happy that I did. The restaurant was very clean, open and spacious. We were immediately greeted by an employee who told us to seat ourselves wherever we wanted. Another employee came over to us and asked if we wanted something to drink, which we both did. After a few moments we had both decided what we wanted to eat. After the server came back to our table my wife ordered the Chilaquiles with the green sauce and scrambled eggs. I also ordered the Chilaquiles with steak, two eggs over easy, along with the red sauce. When we received our food it was absolutely delicious. The owner also came over and chatted with us after we finished eating. We will definitely be back to this restaurant again soon. The only downfall is that they close at 3:00 pm. Convenient to my hotel so decided to try it for breakfast. Very welcoming, clean and open atmosphere. They weren't real busy when I was there (Thursday 10am) but service was efficient, friendly, and attentive. As much as I wanted Chilaquiles I ordered a ham steak, 2 eggs over medium, hash browns and toast. Everything was great. I will mention in particular how perfectly cooked my eggs turned out. I'm not a fan of runny whites so 'over medium' is more often than not over easy with runny whites. These were PERFECT, no runny whites with the trade off of a very small portion of runny yokes (yum!). Winner winner in my book and I'd look to return next time I'm in the area!! read more
