Marvins has been a solid go to breakfast spot for years. They have a huge regular menu and always have at least half a dozen specials every day. I usually get the Cotati omelet or Mexican omelet. We always frequent Marvin's due to the proximity of our home, however I have always been understanding to busy days & general forgetfulness. Today, however, felt a little different. I appreciate all they're doing to accommodate the Covid Social Distancing and dining restrictions, but they certainly seemed quite overwhelmed today vs other Sundays we've dined/taken out food. We called in our order at 11:06am, call took 2 minutes, was promised 15-20 minutes. We'll round to 11:10am, we were under the understanding that the food would be ready by 11:25-11:30am. We arrive at 11:23am, still within the window of promised time. Nobody told us that the order was behind/forgotten, had me pay beforehand, tipped 18%, and stood back in the empty dining room. Other take outters were waiting with me, no one seeming to get their orders. We were asked to wait outside due to building proximity, ok fine, no problem. No one chose to update me or us on how much longer the food was going to take, it is pretty chilly outside. I understand, the weather is not their problem. 11:50am rolls around and I head back in to ask if we should wait in the car... We were told we could do that. 5 min later my husband goes into ask where our food is. Still 5 minutes later, they ask if I've paid... Yes! I paid cash and I honestly could not remember who the cashier was, but I gave $67 on a $57 bill. They then gave our cold food, also missing a side of toast and jam. I totally understand that orders fall behind or god forbid forgotten, I've even done that! However, communication is KEY! Apologizing to me and the rest of the Togo family that they are falling behind and it might be a little longer than promised. Offering some small ojs on the house, coffee while we wait, an apology... nothing was done today. I felt completely ignored as everyone walked by me to bring trays of food to others and not a, "hi, have you been helped? Let me check on your order." Excellent breakfast! I had the chicken fried steak and real fried potatoes with the perfect over easy eggs. My mom had waffles and to our surprise they were not Belgium style but the old fashion small size she was so happy even finished her meal which is rare. Really reasonably priced excellent service and friendly and more important fast. Highly recommend can't wait to try lunch! My boyfriend and I really like this place. We usually order food to go so I can't speak to their service inside the restaurant but their takeout has always been very good. When we get our food it always is fresh and hot even when we drive it home. My boyfriend really enjoys their huevos rancheros. That is one of his favorite all time dishes so he tries it anywhere that serves it! Marvin's is not the best he has ever had but says it stands up really well and is very good! He enjoys it a lot and has gotten it several times. Their breakfast sandwich is also very good. My favorite thing to order is the Marvin's scramble. It has eggs, potatoes, mushrooms, spinach, ham, onion, cheese, and tomato all together and is so tasty! I love the spinach inside and they give very hearty portions. Every time we eat here we are very pleased and full afterwards. We also really enjoy getting their fruit and yogurt, they give you a huge helping of fruit and it's so good with the yogurt. Yummy and fresh tasting! A really good diner style breakfast. We have yet to try their lunch but have heard really good things and plan to do so in the future! Prices are good and they have a nice menu of choices to choose from. Anyone should be able to find something they would like! I recommend giving Marvin's a shot. read more

We have been coming to Marvin's for years and make it there every week on a Tuesday. The food is awesome and the service is nothing short of spectacular. Here is where I really give the 10 stars not just 5 stars. During the recent firs and power shut offs, Marvin's was without power but ran a generator and welcomed anyone who wanted to eat, eggs, french toast, biscuits & gravy with coffee and although they had a skeleton crew, they served us and it was NO CHARGE. Needless to say, a $20.00 bill in the tip jar was worth every penny. Major Kudos to Marvin's and I will forever be grateful. read more

What else can you ask for at Marvin's? I have been going to Marvin's since they used to be in Petaluma, and so glad they are in Cotati because of the small town feel. They have a good system in place, go in and have your name listed, and they call you when there is an open table. The food is just generous, customizable, bread choices are awesome since I like rye bread, wonderful jams available since I love orange marmalade, fresh orange juice yumm and their coffee is good. You feel like you're home when you go to Marvin's with extra added salsa for your main dish if you want. My go to favorite is the Cotati omelette with a special request to change the cheese to feta instead of cheddar, and light on the dried tomatoes. Perfect omelette for me. I am writing this review as I am going through my dining time. The wait was fairly short. It is loud but I think since it is small and nothing to absorb sound it echos, so everyone needs to talk louder than the person next to them. We were seated by a Kurt short Mexican woman, who upon grabbing our menus and walked us to our table dropped our menus off at a different table that wasn't our that she forgot to give them menus. We waited five minutes till she came and asked what we would like to drink. I said "we would like menus." She asked "didn't I give them to you." I almost said "if you did wouldn't they be in front of us." But what I said was "you gave them to another table as we were walking back." She said "oh," and went to get us menus (never apologized for the menus being dropped at another table). Then asked for our drinks and acted like we weren't that important, like she had something she needed to rush off to do. We then waited another ten minutes for a waitress to take our order. She was polite and took our order and now we wait. Now seeing how busy they are I'm not expecting my food with in minutes but maybe 15-20 will be about right. Appetizer came in 18 minutes. Got the fried zucchini. It's good. Still has a crunch From initial order till entree 25 minutes. Food came out warm. Not hot, warm. Have waited for almost ten minutes for my ice tea to be refilled. A waitress has walked by our table and even cleaned the on next to us and still no refill. We were seated in the back in the corner, right next to the waitress station. Almost feels like the forgotten corner. The food was good to ok. Not overwhelmed or underwhelmed just....whelmed. Probably won't come back again. read more

Well..my little mind said ""little mind.This might be a good place to get the Huevos Rancheros" So I do....and I shouldn't have!! 2crispy tortillas stacked on top one another w/ two eggs complete swimming in an Orange soup like sauce and a side of refried beans. Solid place for breakfast, brunch, or lunch. We came here for brunch on a Saturday around 10:30/11 visiting from out of town. It was busy but our party of 6 got seated quickly. The service was great and attentive. My family ordered both the green and red chilaquiles. Both were tasty and authentic, could have used more cheese preferably. I was not look forward to going here. It's been my grandpa's morning coffee hangout since Spiros closed down & became 5 other restaurants over the last few years. We have never had to wait for a table, however they are packed on weekends. Another bad day at Marvins. It used to be so good and now the food was just okay but the service was terrible. It was not busy at all during lunch time, and it took forever to get service. One took the order and someone else brought it, and both seemed to be having a horrible day. There was never any greeting or thank you. Never a how is everything. We ate lunch here while passing through town due to the good reviews. Service was very good and the menu selection ample. The food was of the solid American greasy spoon variety with ample portions and fair prices. The fish and chips and ribeye lunches were fine and filling, but nothing special. Both the fish and steak were over-cooked and so were somewhat lacking in flavor, but completely serviceable. I would not go out of my way to eat there again, but if I happened to be there I would. I would say that IHOP is a step up from Marvin's, but the nearest IHOP to Cotati is in Petaluma. read more

I had been here once before as part of a large group but this time I'm motivated to give a review. My wife, son-in-law, and granddaughter joined me for breakfast on this wet and rainy Saturday at Marvin's. The house was pretty full and things were hoppin' but service was spectacular! They have a very extensive menu for breakfast with so many choices -- it was difficult to nail it down for just what I wanted, but I finally did. I had the Mexican Omelette with chorizo, bell peppers, onion, tomato and cheese (chose pepper jack) and topped with guacamole, salsa and sour cream. Wow! It was huge as they make them with 4 eggs. Very tasty! Topped it with some chipotle tobasco and it was great. My wife had the chicken apple sausage with eggs. It came with 4 large sausages and her eggs were cooked just how she ordered them. She chose hash browns to accompany. My son-in-law had the biscuits and gravy plate (special) with eggs and bacon and it was HUGE! The biscuits were drenched in what looked like sausage country gravy and it filled the plate. His eggs and bacon came on a second plate. I'm guessing it was pretty good because when I looked back to see how he was doing, he seemed to have already sucked most everything down. :-) That's always a good sign. haha. And my granddaughter chose a waffle and some bacon from the kids menu. Our server was right on it and was quick and anxious to please, even though the place was packed. Who do you think you are? Curious about the cluster of eateries in this little section of Cotati, we stumbled into Marvin's "bakery." An odd menu - turned out not to be in a good way - kept me from looking at the off-kilter metal signs everywhere. Not a one was straight. And it wasn't in an intentional/artistic way that these sat so crooked. I chose the shrimp salad after much debate and was greeted with a mound of iceberg lettuce. Icebergs are meant for one place, and one place only. Putting Leonardo DiCaprio out of his 3 hour misery. Spotty avocado, chewy mushrooms and bland sliced tomatoes adorned the plate. There were so many easy, obvious improvements that I didn't bother to finish. My fellow diner was met with much the same fate. Limp hash-browns fresh from the freezer with odd cooked salsa and sour cream on top. Oh yum. Don't get sucked in. Drive yourself 15 minutes south and experience the REAL deal. read more

I tried the Mexican Benedict the other day. Eggs Benedict is usually my go to breakfast, besides chicken fried steak and eggs, but when you throw chorizo in the mix, you had me at, "instead of ham". Bummer! I had high hopes but was totally let down. I brought a client to breakfast and neither of us could hardly start, let alone finish our food. How tough is it to make oatmeal? Seriously? We would have complained but our server basically ignored us and because it was a business breakfast, we chose to minimize the poor experience and just paid the check (no tip) and went somewhere else for brunch.
