In town and Shari's wasn't too far from our hotel. Our server was very friendly and attentive. The place was pretty quiet on a Friday around 11:00am. Restaurant was clean and your basic diner type atmosphere. It has a varied menu. Food was fine, basic and nothing exciting. Portions seemed on the smaller side which was fine. Never been to Shari's but their pies caught my attention. It's on our way home so figure might as well give it try. Turned out they are run by the same company that own Coco's. I love Coco's pies in the old days and it's a shame they had closed down many locations in the Bay Area. Food - Great food and great values!! We came here for their pies and decided to have brunch as well. Their omelette comes with hash brown (with loaded hash brown option) and two complimentary (& huge to my surprise) pancakes. The ingredients were fresh and I like how nicely pan fried the hashbrown was. We also tried their special Cajun Alfredo pasta which was really good and delicious. None of the Cajun heat (if that's what you are expecting) but tasty with good balance of creaminess (not too rich) from Alfredo sauce. Of course we ordered to go- their popular banana cream pie and pecan pie. Had their coconut cream pie dined in which was ok. To be fair, these days it's hard to find really good fresh coconut cream taste. Side note: Their whole pecan pie was even great value ($20) vs other restaurants that serve whole pies and charge $29 for a similar whole pecan pie. read more

My daughter loves going to Shari's Pies restaurant for the food, but mainly for the nice Servers! Recently, Haley was so polite and kind, she really brightened our day! She was also fast and understanding when we had to return a soda that had little fizz. We noticed the other Server was also so sweet to a table of elderly and disabled women. We were very disappointed with our visit on Friday, December 26 Morning. The staff was rude and unhelpful, and when we asked a simple question about the wait time, they responded disrespectfully. Jorge Villegas greeted us rudely and told us that "he was the owner and could treat whoever he wanted however he wanted, and that he didn't care if we left" after we told him he was being rude to us. We weren't rude; we simply asked about the wait time. We found the way we were treated disrespectful and unprofessional. We decided to go somewhere else. This used to be one of our favorite weekend spots, but the manager ruined it because after today, and the way he treated us, we don't deserve that kind of disrespect. read more

My veggie omelette was amazing! The wheat toast was exceptional... not the bland type that most restaurants use. But nothing could compare to the kind server that was working yesterday morning. I have been in the service industry in the past and it's a tough job. This server was kind and responsive to everyone in the restaurant. My sister explained how she enjoys her coffee extra hot. Ordered take out here last night with a 630pm pick up time. Arrived 5 mins early and the order was all packed up ready to go! I got the Tillamook Burger, Seared Salmon Dinner Entree (with mashed potatoes, broccoli and added a side house salad) and their award winning key lime pie. My hubby thought the burger and fries was well done and not bad. My seared salmon was dry. Mashed potatoes and broccoli was bland I do not believe the side salad had been washed at all. Some dirt on the salad. Key lime pie was good, more on the sweeter side which can appeal to those with a sweet tooth. Pie was large, still have 75% of it left in the fridge! I think the price points of this restaurant is mid-affordable for "eating out". You get food that matches that, not the best but not the worst either. Can definitely improve, I get that they are a chain but quality control should be top priority. read more

We come here often after a great experience we had on their free pie night. The service and people that work there are absolutely amazing! We go at night and always have such a fun time Especially when Jenny is our server. She always makes us smile, laugh, and gives better service than we get at fine dining establishments. The ONLY reason i can't give 5 stars is the shape of the building. They desperately need their owners to fix their roof which is leaking and their bathrooms. The staff is always cleaning tables and doing what they can. This is a management issue. Management fix this for your staff! Match their enthusiasm for their jobs by fixing the problems with your building. As you can see from the review below some people will only see the negative and walk out giving a bad review when the staff doesn't deserve it, but the management and owner do! read more

It is with a heavy heart that I leave a three star review for a place that has been such a staple in my life as Shari's. On multiple road trips, visits to family and other random occasions, I've driven down to the Shari's Pie in Rohnert Park and had either a very pleasant 4-star experience, or a very middling 2-star experience. On my most recent visit, I would have to admit that the experience was rather poor. To start us off, the time to be seated was about 20 minutes, which, if the restaurant had been busy, would have been totally understandable. Giving a quick scan on our visit, however, I clocked about four tables already seated. Not exactly a full house, but i concede that they were seemingly rather short staffed, at least in terms of Front of House staffing. Our server was cheery and helpful, if not a tad worn down by having to run to and fro. Despite being attentive to almost every other table, we only got checked on once, which made it hard to get refills, extra sauce/napkins, etc. Despite the wait to be seated, the wait to order and the wait for the food, the experience was mostly enjoyable. My pancakes (blueberry lace, as pictured) were nice and fluffy with a good denseness, but were oddly a bit dry, which, considering the amount of sauce and blueberries, was definitely not the intended texture. Though I asked for more syrup, it never arrived. The Country Fried Steak (forgot to snap a pic :( ) was delightful crispy and very warm, but was topped with cold, somewhat lumpy gravy. The "Duo Bites" appetizer was okay price-wise, but I'd recommend getting a single order of whatever appetizer you're after instead. The half portions felt a bit too thin for my personal tastes. As with most diners, the coffee here is a bit on the weak side, but in a way I enjoy. It has a nostalgic taste that urges you to ask for a second, if not a third cup. Do you see what I mean? Most items have something good about them, but are missing an essential element or are struck by an error of some sort that brings down the experience that little bit. Essentially, it's a dice roll on whether you'll be experiencing excellence or mediocrity. When we finished dining, we were excited to learn it was Free Pie Wednesday! After receiving the bill, however, we learned only half of our pies were free. This was apparently due to the fact that you only get a free pie with purchase of an entree, and only half of our dining group ordered entrees and instead ordered appetizers. While this is totally fine and a restriction I support, this stipulation wasn't explained when the pies were ordered, nor was it listed anywhere on signage. In addition, some of the pie slices were fairly thin, while others were fat and thick. Not sure if that was due to what flavor was selected, or due to some pies being free while others weren't. All in all, this place isn't BAD (a three is average, after all), but there are, unfortunately, better dining options out there. If you're willing to roll the dice on your dining experience, you might have a surprisingly pleasant experience here. read more

Came here with a large group of people, and I am not sure but I think I enjoyed the food more than the company! This location is an easy to get to location, lots of tables and counter seating and clean and well lit. Of course the first thing you see is a case filled with all manners of pies just waiting for a good home. Oy - need to remember to bring one home! We were a group of about 20 and our server Teresa did a fantastic job with all of us. Imagine keeping a couple of dozen diners simultaneously happy and fed and watered - well, she did it all and then some! Kudos to her. I ordered the BYO (build your own) omelet with mushrooms, bell peppers, onions and and avocado (add $1) and Impossible sausage (add $2) and I upgraded the hash browns to loaded hash browns (filled with sour cream and cheese), and my neighbor had a Farmer's Breakfast (two eggs, and choice of three strips of Applewood smoked bacon or two grilled Johnsonville sausage links, with a side of buttermilk pancakes, hash browns or fresh fruit. The omelet was quite flavorful and delicious, with enough of everything to get some in every bite. The Impossible sausage was new to me and very delicious. And the stuffed hash browns are to die for - if you haven't tried this, please do. Your cardiologist will curse me later! And on Wednesday - which it was - you get a free piece of pie with an entrée purchase, so don't forget to ask! I also took a pie home. Well, three pies, but who's counting anyway?! The Banana Cream Dream is always a favorite, and I tried two new ones as well: the Sour Cream Lemon, and a seasonal (if I remember the name correctly) Triple Pumpkin Cream. The lemon one was absolutely my new favorite, being tart, sweet and so lemony creamy all at once. And the triple pumpkin was also great, with a layer of pumpkin on top of a custard like bottom layer. And the crusts were perfect for me - just thick enough to hold the pie, but not too thick to detract from the soft fillings. Wowwww. This is the second time we sat in to dine. We had a mini morning birthday party date. As I walked in, the host told me exactly where to meet my friends. Then beverages were served right away! All my friends ordered tea except me. For just regular coffee, it was brew to perfect and perfect. ( For so many bad morning restaurant coffee I had tasted, this restaurant win the top 1.) And yes, I was being good for not touching the bread. Our waitress kept coming back to fill in hot water. She was very busy but kept coming back to check on us. We were sitting in tucked away corner, so her services were Super!! I wish I could tell you her name, but I had to run early. Next time if people ask me where to have good brunch, i will say " follow me, we are going to Shari's cafe and pies". By the way, the pies here are great!!! Run down, was literally too afraid to eat food here. Upon entry, it was very dated. There was hardly a greeting, just two employees with nothing to do trying to figure out why someone sane looking walked in to eat. We got escorted to a booth and as we were told where to sit, at a booth that was busted as heck, the old man eating hollers, be careful, that one has a broken spring! And our waiter still sat us there with no offer of another booth. No personality. Multiple booths had massively taped seats, no cushion left, broken springs, etc. There were a total of 2 other couples sitting for dinner on a Friday night. Tons of empty booths and there were certainly a lot that didn't have broken seating. I was already like wow, terrible greeting, horrible seating, okaaay... Bad first impression. My friend and I decided that we wanted some late night breakfast on Sunday at 1am with our options being very limited we opted for Shari's. From the moment we walked in we were greeted by a friendly lady and she seated us at a booth, the restaurant was dead at this point. The restruant decor is old school with floral print around . First time here and for one I was amazed at how late they're open which I would have not expected. From the moment we entered we were greeted by who I think was the manager(?) and he was so sweet! The atmosphere was immediately welcoming and warm for us. Our waiter was also amazing! Talon was very attentive and so funny; we felt like we got along really well with him. Hopefully we can catch him next time he's working because we loved him! For the food I was very surprised at how tasty it was. We got steak and a breakfast combo. The steak was the juiciest and tastiest thing I have ever eaten. It was on the smaller side for a steak but I didn't care at the time. The pancakes were fluffy and really hit our late night breakfast cravings. As for all the other sides they were good but nothing to write home about. Overall, I still think the food is really good. I've only ever gotten pie here but that's not a bad thing. Some of their pies are hit or miss, the ones with fruit are usually top notch. Marionberry during Oregon month was the best I've had and my whole family demolished it (even the pie haters). Cherry is also nice with tart flavor and hits the spot. The chocolate cream pies (there are some variations of the pie) were ok, but everything was very stiff and I am not usually a fan of oil whipped creams. While I get it for stabilization, it's texture and taste leave much to be desired. Maybe they thicken the filling with gelatin which can set to much if there is a heavy hand. Will I be back for more?
