The second time, the food was good but the waitress needed a lesson on how to speak to "ladies", know her menu and listen to the order...also the cashier was very nasty when we questioned a charge... We tried this place a few years ago and didn't care for it. But decided to give it another try because it's always crowded and had some good reviews. What a mistake. Worst breakfast we have had in Wildwood! There are far better options down here. Save your money. Waffle was soggy and not crisp. Fruit was old. And the bacon was deep fried. Even though they insisted it wasn't, the amount of grease said otherwise. We also had chipped beef which was flavorless. The homefries underneath turned to mush! We will not be back here. read more

Such a cute setting and the food is terrific. They seated us immediately for breakfast between 8:30 snd 9 am. The staff is very friendly and they serve you right away. Wasn't crazy about the spices on the home fries that come with the eggs but they do cook things just the way you ask. Only one bathroom per male, one for female so there may be a line. They gave us a 10% off coupon for dinner at Pesto Pasta just a few blocks away and also very good. We went twice since it's only 2 blocks from the boardwalk and one block from our motel. Always a great meal here. Even when the place is crowded they get you a table fast and the service is good. Food is always good too. I find that most diners in NJ are wayyyyyyyy better than diners in PA, where I'm from. When the kids and I are in Wildwood we always go here. Horrible food, overpriced, even worse service...McDonald's chicken nuggets are better than their chicken fingers. They microwaved a piece of cheese on top of the fries to "make cheese fries." The cheese pulled off in a single piece. Server was worthless, rolled her eyes, tapped her fingers while we ordered and had to request a refill...don't make us ask, just do it! This place is great because it has a gigantic menu, huge portions, and decent prices, along with a really great atmosphere. I've only eaten here for breakfast but its got, you guessed it, tons of variety. Pancake types include: M&M, oreo, nut, fruit, granola, marshmallow, peanut butter, and even pepperoni (which I'd never eat but I guess if you're in to that, its a plus). You can get a tall stack and ask for three different kinds for no extra charge, it makes for an exciting breakfast. These pancakes are, and this is important, big! Unlike some places, you pay for what you get. Same goes for varieties of waffles, french toast, etc. Anyway the service can be hit or miss - slow waitresses. My waitress the other day didn't even listen to what I ordered even though she nodded like she knew - so I got the wrong thing. Just make sure you're clear! Arrived later in the evening just wanted something lite & this was just around the corner in walking distance. Menu was interesting and waitresses very polite. I saw many good dinners to my surprise. But sticking with may original plan I went with the opened face Turkey and Fries. it came out piled high with gravey on everything exactly as I ordered it. Last minute decision to eat here because the lines were to long at other restaurants. I'm so glad we did!! Everything tasted fresh and good size portions. We had Greek salad with chicken, grilled cheese, Waldorf salad with shrimp and ice scream. My kids normally pick at their grilled cheese but ate it all. Fries tasted homemade, not like other diners. A Wildwood gem! My favorite part of every Wildwood vacation is the food. Boardwalk food generally can't be beat. But in this very rare case, I'd have to say I'd eat at Marvis Diner over any restaurant on the boardwalk. The menu is unique and delicious, the portions are huge and we never leave hungry. I've actually always wanted to try their desserts but never make it that far. The staff is friendly, the restaurant is bright and a little bit retro. It is by far, one of my favorite places to visit. The Marvis Diner has been a great place since it opened for Breakfast and Lunch. At this place you can go healthy or totally belly buster! Being gluten free is always a challenge at a place like this b/c of cross contamination for me, so I prefer not to eat here but my family likes it. Be advised they have no separate fryers so stay away from that stuff. If you want fried food go to Wild Burrito or Maui's Dog house as they have separate friers for us Gluten free eaters. My family tends to take advantage of all the yummy food this place has to offer because after all we are on vacation so no salads for them. BLT, Turkey with Gravy and other great dinners. Im not a breakfast fan but my family loves all the breakfast foods. They find the Marvis so much better than all the tourist places like Duffers down the street. Reasonable prices so a family can eat here without breaking the bank. In nice weather they have outside seating which was great b/c the inside tends to get a bit loud with all the hustle and bustle. Marvis is one of the most popular diners in Wildwood. I believe there's a few of them around, and all of them are always packed. I go to Wildwood almost every year, so this wasn't new to me. This diner was our first stop after making our long trip down, and it definitely hit the spot. I love diner food and Marvis has some great food. But if you're looking to get breakfast, expect at least a half hour wait. Because of the abundance of people, the service is fairly slow. I can't say "It's worth the wait!" because it's not -- it's typical diner food. But the location and atmosphere is nice, and there's even outdoor seating. If you want breakfast and have some extra time, definitely stop in. Otherwise, any other diner will do. read more

For the last 4 years we've been stopping at Marvis diner for lunch before we check into our hotel for our summer vacations. This year was the same. Our party of four was seated right away in a booth. Our server took our drink orders right away and came back a few minutes later for our meal order. We ordered a corn dog and a side of fries, a grilled chicken Caesar wrap which came with fries and a chicken Alfredo pasta to share. We were a bit worried that our order would be all messed up because the server didn't seem to understand us, but to our pleasant surprise, she got everything right! The food came fairly quickly and we all enjoyed our meals. We all really like the chicken Alfredo and it could feed a whole family! The only down side to the restaurant is that it only has one bathroom for females and one bathroom for males. I literally waited outside the restroom for over 5 minutes and just decided to leave and use the one at the hotel because a couple of little girls decided they wanted to camp out in the bathroom while their dad waited for them in their booth. read more

Based on other reviews, I had breakfast here (Labor Day). I was not disappointed. As I approached the diner I saw a line, which is good and bad. My fears were for naught, as they took me to my table right away. As a bonus, the patio was open, and if the weather is decent, I would highly recommend sitting outdoors. My server Juan-Ramon was perfect. Always smiling, he kept my coffee cup full. I ordered the blue berry pancakes, and although they were good, definitely not 5-Star, hence the 4-star overall rating. Of course the ambiance is modern diner, so we are talking about a very casual dinner. What you will get is large portions of tasty food, such as a well-executed grilled cheese, with bacon and tomato grilled into the sandwich. The meatloaf was a mild miss, however, without much flavor. You can get breakfast food at dinner time as well, and one of our party gorged on a platter of eggs, bacon, and pancakes. I would never have believed a seven-year old girl could eat that much. Wow! And I don't usually "wow ". The best Greek diner I have ever eaten in and I'm from New York the home of Greek diners. Friendly , thoughtful and attentive staff. Of course I had the Greek salad with chicken. Chicken cooked perfectly and not overloaded with lettuce. Big chunk of feta to put on yourself and when was the last time you had a Greek salad with grape leaves? I would take the three hour ride just to eat here. Extra credit to the Marvis Diner for offering deep-fried tater tots as an alternative to home fries at breakfast. Oven-baked tater tots are awesome in their own right. But toss them in a deep fryer and you create some kind of supernatural culinary magic that will simply knock your pants off. Unfortunately, as you are pulling your pants back up, you are then led into a world of overcooked eggs, creepy thick-sliced pork roll, and so-so dishes like pancakes and waffles. It's not terrible, and in fact may actually be better than some of the other breakfast options in the vicinity. I'm notoriously not a big breakfast fan, so today I should have stuck with my fallback staple - a grilled cheese with bacon on griddled rye. I ordered that back on Memorial Day when I was here last and it was done to perfection. Today's breakfast, consisting of a pork roll, egg and cheese sandwich pretty much just sucked. My daughter had a waffle which was fine, but nothing special. And my wife ordered two eggs over hard. I'm not even sure what "over hard" means, but what came out didn't look appealing. (My wife was happy with it.) I'm no egg expert, but I prefer my eggs a little wet. Ok. That sounded gross. But you know what I mean. Again, too many amazing breakfasts in Brooklyn have made eating breakfast in the Jersey 'burbs a real challenge. And then you suddenly find yourself in Wildwood -- a complete and utter seasonal tourist destination where getting any kind of decent grub poses never ending challenges. The Marvis is your typical Jersey diner, save for the tater tots. (I don't know any other Jersey diners that offer tater tots.) But the Marvis is also situated deep down in South Jersey, which is a whole other world from the Jersey everyone else knows. Down in these parts, you are living below the Scrapple Belt, where pork roll is sliced thick, not thin, and finding a vodka pie is completely impossible, despite the fact that every pizzeria and Italian joint have all the ingredients on hand to make one. It's just weirder down here. (Not like Vineland inbreeding weird, but weird nonetheless.) Anyway, if you're driving in or out of Wildwood, you pretty much can't miss the Marvis Diner. And if it's typical diner fare you desire, you will not be disappointed by yet another mediocre Jersey diner experience. Mediocrity -- that's what diners are all about! read more

I've enjoyed two meals here. One at the very beginning of the season and one last week on a hot summer day. I enjoyed my sandwiches both times, as they have excellent rolls. I thought the fries were pretty good. Serving breakfast all day is a plus. The service both times was super friendly. The al fresco option was perfect! I brought three tween girls directly from the waterpark for dinner, and they were getting cold in the air conditioning. We moved outside to the covered patio, where the warm breezes were *exactly* the thing that makes me love eating outside. The second trip we really wanted to try the desserts. The kids went for the enormous Vesuvio, which boasts nutella, ice cream, a cupcake and some kind of liquid fudge syrup. They seemed to enjoy it, though none of them came close to finishing it. I think my simple brownie with vanilla ice cream was actually better. I'm trying to hold back on 5 stars unless a place really rocks my world, but this place was very very good trip food. read more

First time at Marvis. We like to try a new place each time we are down. We went for dinner and us two adults enjoyed breakfast that is served all day. The potatoes are so good and cooked to perfection. My one child had grilled cheese and fries and it was nothing fancy and my oldest at ravioli and a meatball. She is a big ravioli fan. She remarked her meatball was cold and upon checking it, it was very cold. She wanted to keep eating it because she stated it tasted so good, but we got the server who informed us it was from the freezer and comped her meal. They brought her out a new platter. The meatball was cooked-just not hot. Our server was Collin who was pretty funny and did good with my smart mouth hubby. The inside part of the diner is very small and the tables are really close. The outside part is also small but okay. The place is very clean and very pretty. The bathrooms were really clean and smelled good. The food was general fine. There wasn't much variety and a lot of the food was either over seasoned or under seasoned there was no in between. They didn't take long to bring the food out. The waiter was really nice. We accidentally spilled a cup of water and she was really nice about it. Except that she didn't tell us about new foods they were offering but she did tell the neighboring table about them. Overall, it was a great first experience but I wouldn't return. read more
