I believe was ripped off here. I had my three young kids with me and a party to attend so I didn't raise the issue at the time. I purchased 4 dozen donut holes and was charged $71. That comes out to $17 per dozen donut holes. I thought something was off about the price and I should have said something. I would definitely not recommend coming here. I came here because there's a famous location in Santee. I didn't realize there was one out here. We decided to go in and get a dozen doughnuts. I got to try the Bavarian cream one. So good. We also got red velvet and some other flavors. The ladies here were hard at work taking orders. New batches came out as they were running out of certain flavors of doughnuts. Pretty cool! The line goes pretty fast. There were three ladies taking orders. Inside there were a few tables to enjoy your doughnuts. They also sell milk in the refrigerators in the back. A definitely cool environment. There was even a crane game inside. Parking can be difficult but we just walked from Burger King since it was close by. Good luck with street parking as it gets full. Omg I'm obsessed with these donuts now . So much for a hot summer bod . The raspberry filled and custard filled cream puffs are absolutely delicious . I've never seen those before and now that I have I'm hooked . They're little bites of heaven . I also really enjoyed their maple bacon bar . Can't wait to have one of those again . Their Apple fritter is also so fresh and so good . They had all kinds of super cute St . Patrick 's day donuts when I came in on St Paddy's day . And the staff was super sweet and helpful . I tried Mary's Lakeside location again after a disappointing first experience. Their Santee location is great - well worth the line they always have. Mary works Santee personally and it shows! Her Lakeside location suffers from her absence, however. It's the same range of donut types - plus a mini deli, which I did not try. Their blueberry donut shines in Santee - the one I had in Lakeside today was a day old and chewy. Their coffee, however, was fresh and first rate - and they had medium roast and dark roast. NOT your average donut place coffee. Bottom line - go to Lakeside for coffee - and Santee for donuts. read more

These donuts are scrumptious. They offer a vast assortment of donuts. Every time we go we have to get at least a dozen. The glazed, blueberry, cherry sprinkle and chocolate glazed are amazing. Yummy donuts. I kept it simple with pink frosting. Also tried the maple bacon and it was too bacony for my taste (which is a plus for many). Super friendly staff. Cheap. My one complaint? I'm not generally a donut fan, although occasionally in Ramona (where I live) I'll take the kids to the popular chain place in town. Not excited at all about the quality there (to be clear, the chain place, not Mary's). Last Saturday I was playing a concert of the Lakeside Christmas street celebration. Our stage was near Mary's and after the concert, freezing from being outside for several hours, I stopped in to Mary's for a hot drink and to just check the place out. Wow! The bakers were in back, making up batches of fresh donuts. The selection on display was impressive, and the staff and owners were friendly and gave great service. Actually fantastic service: My wife likes Cruellers, and there were none on display, so I asked if any were coming out. They said they'd out in a few minutes and asked if I wanted anything special. I asked for plain, unglazed. So a few minutes later, they come out with a box of custom donuts for me! I also purchased some of their "cream puffs"; highly recommended. All are good, but the raspberries were delicious. I don't like too sweet, so I got some "old fashioned" donuts. I've never had better. Fresh and just slightly crispy on the outside, with good flavor and consistency. Likewise for the donut holes. Other reviewers mentioned the fritters. They had sold out (apparently lots of business on account of the street party), so I'm looking forward to trying those next time I'm in Lakeside. This place is conveniently located right off the 67, so it's easy to get to if you're in the area. They told me they're open 24 hours, so I'll definitely stop by on my way home after my gigs! read more

I noticed there's many entitled and inconsiderate complainers during this pandemic who come into hardworking establishments (that are trying their best to stay afloat) just to leave reviews to gain an ounce of fame and attention they desperately crave. I'm a fairly happy and loving person (though it's been a tough as sh*t year, majority of you are empathetic enough to understand) and I tend to take my anger and unhappiness out on my journal rather than everyone else ((thank god for emotional intelligence)). A brand new Mary's Donuts just down the street from me - DANGEROUS! Not having to drive the extra 10 minutes will not do any favors for my waistline. The donuts are delicious and so fresh. My favorite is the pink cruller because it's light and fluffy and not overly sweet. Their cinnamon roll is my husband's favorite, followed by the glazed twist. Their fritters take me back to when I was a kid and would get them with my mom. So moist. The place is newly renovated just for them - nice and clean. read more

Incredible. I had heard of Mary's in the past but living and working in Carlsbad never afforded me the opportunity to visit East County to try them. I recently started a new job in Lakeside and decided to try their location there. The bacon maple bars are truly indescribable. If you could taste heaven, this would be it. Went here with the family the other morning. We were very excited for our donuts from this place. We've been customers for years. On two recent and separate occasions I observed two individuals in the back, wearing aprons. I could only presume they were the cooks. I saw them talking and cooking the donuts without masks. This is a violation of the present order for safety in food service. What made it worse is they were talking and had their faces inches from the donuts. No doubt in my mind there were aerosol droplets falling onto the donuts as they were speaking. Use my review to come to your own conclusion with their care of customers safety. read more

I had to fly back to San Diego to take my mother-in-law back home after visiting us here for the summer of 2021 I could not wait to hit up Mary Donuts, bring back A huge order of apple fritters. and of course, the owner did me right. This is my favorite "mom and pop" style doughnut shop so much so that, I would easily place this above famous chain stores. I have never had a stale, or unfresh doughnut, or pastry here; I have had hot and fresh doughnuts here. I'm talking they were out of the fryer maybe 15 minutes prior. It was an old-fashioned type doughnut and it just melted in my mouth. Their old-fashioned doughnuts are just one of their exceptional offerings bear claws the size of a small plate, french curlers, cake doughnuts, filled both jelly and cream styles, just to name a few of their options. No matter what you pick you can't go wrong nor will you be disappointed. We recently picked up a dounghnut cake for our daughters birthday. The total price for the cake was only $10.00! It was the size of a dinner plate too so it will easily serve at least 10 people. They do offer a military discount and are law enforcement friendly.
