I used to go to Mary's donuts in Santee. Since this location recently opened up, I've been going here since it's closer to my home. Lately I noticed the donuts taste horrible here. I usually get their blueberry cake donuts and their filled donuts. The blueberry cake donuts taste dry and greasy. The filled donuts have a different taste from before. It taste very artificial. I'm not sure if they changed bakers or the products. I think I'll be going to the other Mary's because I recently stopped by over the past weekend. The donuts taste so much better there. AMAZING! We had a large brush fire tear through our community yesterday. I was on a local Facebook page trying to organize donations for the Firefighters & crew when Mary's Donuts jumped into action and offered to take care of it! Not only did Mary's donate coffee AND donuts but they delivered and set up and completely stoked our first responders with all of the yummy donuts. My husband and I get donuts from here on our way home after date night every Saturday. They never dissapoint when it comes to taste and moisture, and the gal's behind the counter are always super welcoming and friendly. Definitely enjoy this location more than the one in Santee, where the employees are younger and less attentive. read more

This is the best donut shop!! The donuts are fresh, soft and warm. The coffee is wonderful. The staff are friendly and eager to help you. The owners are great people and very friendly!! The store is clean and bright, and in a very convenient location, right next to Eastbound on Maine St in Lakeside. I understand they now sell sandwiches and things too, so I will have to go have my lunch there soon. Prices are reasonable, so go get some donuts! read more

Went back a third time after giving them a 1 star review.... hoped for the best but unfortunately it was awful again. I see some 5 star review in here, just wondering if they had been to the original Mary's in Santee. There is absolutely no comparison. We got 4 doughnuts, not one worth more then 1 star. Worst customer service ever today! My friend and I thought we'd try out their deli sandwiches today. Girl took my order which included donuts as well as the sandwich I ordered. I paid and had to stand and wait for my order. Since she was the only one there she went in the back to start to make our sandwiches. Customers kept coming in and so she stopped making our sandwiches and helped everybody else! Stood waiting at least 20 to 30 minutes for her. Her co-worker returned from break finally! I complained on wait time. The girl defended her co-worker and said she is supposed to help the customers that walk in before making my sandwich. Ridiculous! I demanded my money back! The girl was rude! My friend took her tuna sandwich home to eat. She told me the worker did not even put mayonnaise in the tuna! My friend had to put it in a bowl and mix mayonnaise with it when she got home. Unbelievable! These girls need to learn a lesson about customer service! Shame on the owner for allowing them to treat their customers this way! Let's not even talk about the price! They don't even have it posted! $10.99 is steep! read more

I love Mary's donuts! They are the best in the world if you ask me. I especially love the Crullers. Sadly however they are quite often out of strawberry. I know they need time to establish themselves at this location and maybe aren't making enough right now. I also only gave it 4 stars because the parking is on the street only and on Maine Street in Lakeside it can be dangerous. A location with parking may have better served them. Sometimes my donuts have not seemed as fresh as usual as well. I know it sounds like a lot of complaining, but my expectations were set from the Santee location. I hope they get things on track and I can give them 5 stars soon. They offer a great variety and the price is very fair for what you get. read more

My son and I often go on "donut dates". On his birthday this year I decided to take him on a donut date after school as a surprise. Only problem was that I forgot the candles. I called Mary's Donuts in the off chance they might have them, and they DID! Not only that, but when we arrived, they'd put together a little box for him w/ donuts, holes, candles, and everyone sang :)). Truly made this mama's heart melt. Thank you!! Learned my lesson today. No matter how specific you are with what donuts you want always check the box before you leave. Did not get the donuts I asked for and with the amount you pay they should have better service to make sure you get what you are paying for. Otherwise the taste is always good and fresh. Found this spot for National Donut Day. Was greeted by 2 beautifully lit counters and a very clean look. Bought a huge Apple fritter, buttercream filled chocolate frosted donut, and 2 chocolate cake chocolate frosted donuts. All were delicious, my only complaint was the buttercream donut was oily, but still managed to be incredibly delicious. As this spot is roughly 20-25 min from our house, I would come back just probably wouldn't frequent. read more
