It is best to do take out as it is a small business, and they don't always have a lot of time to wait on tables. The owners are so kind and the food is absolutely the best! I always order Chicken Almond Chow Mein as it has so many fresh veggies. I love bringing guests here because there's so much variety, and the food is consistently excellent every time. The food was piping Hot, The sour egg soup was good. There was plenty people picking up to go orders. Perhaps I ordered the wrong food. I had sweet and sour pork chicken shrimp combo. I looked like lots of heavy breaded golf ball sized food. But I started peeling off all the breading and was surprised to see the meat inside literally was the size of a pinto bean!! When I finished eating the meat I had a big pile of fried breading left on my plate. How they can expand the those pieces ten times the size of a bean is beyond me. I'm not going to lie, it was pretty horrible. Everything. From the very dirty bathrooms (I wish I had my camera) to the dirty vegetables that were served in my stir-fry. The General Tso chicken didn't taste or look or taste like anything I've ever eaten before and it was fatty and gamey. Upon investigation, they failed their May 23, 2024 Linn County Food Inspection and passed upon reinspection. But the daily health practices are a FAIL. read more

I stopped in here on a Sunday afternoon for a quick meal prior to a movie. The service was very pleasant the owners seems like really nice people. I ordered ordered a combination plate lunch special and the food came out piping hot and decent. The plate seemed a little small, but I was full when I left. I did notice that a regular came in and they brought him hot tea but had not offered to bring hot tea when I ordered. Ok, first off, @Ariel B- NO. The Safeway asian food is not better then this place. I worked there. It's ALL prepackaged, frozen, and thawed the night before. There is little to no cooking of anything. That is not real food when you can get the same thing from the frozen dinner section. As for Yummy House Itself- It's family owned and the couple that run it are very sweet. The Wife even makes sure to have a picture that is the distinction between LoMain and ChowMain. Which to us when we moved here was a breath of fresh air. The food has a good flavor and is pretty consistent. They also offer half orders on some things which can save you money and from wasting food. ABC Chinese is just down the street from them and though both places offer sometimes VERY different versions of the same thing I have to say Yummy House is better overall and usually slightly cheaper. I do admit lately the pan fried noodles have seemed a bit different, but not in a bad way and it still better then any other place. ABC's pan fried noodles are mush, Love Love Teriyaki's noddles are so spicy they're inedible, and I could go on but I think my soapbox is getting wobbly. All in all, a good place and pretty much the best Asian food you're going to get in Albany. read more

First time eating at this restaurant. We were pleasantly surprised at how the food tasted homemade vs the usual big chain taste or lack there of. My orange chicken had a nice orange zest flavor and not super sugary either. The sauce looked like what an orange sauce should look like without orange dye added. My spring rolls were very tasty . Best part for me is they do not cook with MSG. So no migraines for me. Give them a try you will not be disappointed. read more

Fairly new to Albany, we've been eating our way through town and have not been pleased with any of the Chinese restaurants until now. We ordered three different soups, and all were distinctive one from the other. The hot and sour soup was perfectly balanced, the wonton soup had a beautiful tasty clear broth and The wontons themselves were carefully crafted, plump and pretty. The unique egg flower soup was tasty too and sprinkled with bits of yellow corn which was delicious. The chicken chow mein was fresh and actually chow mein not to be confused with lo mein (that we also ordered and it was also delicious). The vegetable egg foo yung was very tasty, the brown gravy delicious and the three patties were not oily or greasy at all like all the other restaurants in town. I give this a four star rating as it is just an average-decent Chinese food restaurant but it gets four stars instead of three because it's the best Chinese food in Albany. I'd give it five if there was something spectacular or special about it. All in all, we will return to pick up takeout, not the kind of place we would dine in, but a good solid food place. read more

I can see why this place gets good reviews, now that I tried it it's solid Chinese-American food, at cheap prices it's a small restaurant, so you might have to wait for a while, but it's large portions and most importantly, it's a not heavy (and MSG free) stir-fry style of cooking I personally recommend the wonton soup, which is plenty of food for one person and has a light broth with a nice buttery flavor, and like their beef-based dishes read more

I wanted to like Yummy House. The name is adorable, and it is owned and operated by a married couple who seem very nice. I had high hopes that it would become my go-to Chinese food option in Albany. Sadly, it's not to be. We ordered takeout: General Tso's chicken, broccoli beef, and spring rolls. The spring rolls were OK, but unexciting; they were a little overdone, and stuffed mostly with cabbage, but they were edible. The General Tso's chicken was flavorless, and the sauce was thin and runny, which made the breading on the chicken soggy. The broccoli beef was just bad: the meat didn't seem to be high quality, there was very little flavor, and the broccoli was overcooked. Maybe there are other dishes that this restaurant does very well, but those two seem to me like pretty basic dishes that any Chinese restaurant in the U.S. should be able to pull off. I wasn't hoping for fabulous. I was just hoping for "better than Panda Express." I'm sorry to say, this is not it. read more

I really expected to like this place. The lady at the front was very nice. We had ordered to go and arrived early to pick up our food. The rice was very dry and lacked flavor. The pork in the rice was hard and dry also. We had ordered the pork buns based on a earlier review. The pork inside was spoiled and had a fetid odor. Pre covid I would have given yummy House five stars. I'm a sucker for their shrimp egg foo young, past tense. I don't know if the owners are cutting corners due to cost or whether they're overwhelmed with takeout orders but, in the past this lovely dish the shrimp was cooked in the egg foo young everything was moist tender and delicious. I thought I'd found my forever Chinese food home. Wrong! Too tired to cook last night I called for my favorite meal as well as chicken chow mein (my son loves their chow mein) when my son brought it home it was egg foo young with shrimp in gravy poured over the top. The egg foo young was overcooked and tough as were the shrimp which were totally without flavor they were so overcooked. I didn't even want to eat it I was so disappointed, I was also starving so yes I tasted it long enough to realize I wouldn't feed it to my damn dogs. I called Yummy House to explain that their dish was totally unacceptable and different and I would like a replacement she said they were doing it this way now, that I was actually getting more shrimp more shrimp that's overcooked and flavorless. It tasted like the shrimp gravy had been sitting cooking all day till the shrimp were little tasteless pellets, convenient just dump it over egg fu yong, but not tasty! Oh Happy Day lucky me, down the garbage disposal. I've been going there forever just for this dish and now I'm looking for a new place with good Chinese food which is also NOT AB Chinese as mentioned in previous reviews. I gave it three stars because my son says the chicken chow mein is so good. Nevertheless they'll never get any more of my business. They told me that the other customers liked it this way.
