If I could give this restaurant 0 stars for their customer service I would. The manager here is so rude to all customers and his employees. Doesn't give anyone the time of day or respect. I called to make an order and made me feel stupid as I was ordering. When I went to pick up my order I received the same attitude as on the phone. I confronted him about it and didn't have anything to say to me. The food was good but it's not worth coming to the restaurant to receive poor treatment. read more

BUGS IN MY FOOD! This place used to be my favorite sushi restaurant in town. Quality of food has definitely declined since COVID. In our table, there were a few bugs flying around us during the entire meal. I asked the server to not put any cucumbers in the rolls multiple times. Two out of the four rolls included cucumbers. After I made a complaint to the server, he took them to the back, where the chef failed to make a new roll and served me the same roll with the cucumber removed. This was extremely upsetting but wasn't even the worst part of the meal. When I got the red dragon roll, after I removed the fish from the top, there was a bug in my food. Other than that, the other pieces had small black circles which were either dirt or other bugs. When the supervisor came over he took the roll with the bug of the bill, however still charged us for everything else. I was extremely disappointed that the food took such a long time to come out and then the order wasn't right. Save your money and don't come here! read more

Went here a few months ago and unfortunately was served bad fish. I ordered a traditional roll and when it was given to me it emitted a rotten smell. I told the owner/server that the fish was bad, he took it, smelled it, and then had the sushi chef throw away the batch of mixture that went into that particular roll which tells me that they don't check it for freshness. The owner was nice about it and offered to make another one and comped it but still sucks to be served rotten fish. Not the way I want to go out... I really wanted to like this place but I most likely will never go back. read more

I love helping small business but the employees are rude! Went in tonight at 7:30pm and waited about 25-30 mins. There was a man standing in the front of the restaurant that did not sit us at one of the open tables. I understand it's a very small restaurant with 8-10 tables but logic is when you have a customer waiting outside for an open table you seat them? Especially when you close in 1 hour. He said the table is reserved for table 6 or more. I was shocked when he said, "but you could sit outside!" The outside tables were filthy and the tables looked like they had rust on them. I would never allow someone to sit at those tables. This is unsanitary. I will not be back to this restaurant. There are so many other great sushi places in town. I will make sure my friends and family don't come either. The food did not look appetizing either while we were waiting. Save your time and money. read more

You must understand that all they deal with is people who order through apps as they have absolutely NO CLUE as to what customer service is about and no customers would be crazy enough to wait an hour and sometimes an hour and a half, yes...an hour and a half. I have visit this place twice. In both occasions the food was great and the only reason I when back. However, customer service is important to me. In the last visit, I wasn't even done with my food, the last couple bites are the best (granted I had three bites left) and she pickup my plate by sticking another plate on top. After I complained, they brought me the same plate with the food smashed for me to eat (granted I told the lady what she did and she wanted to bring me the plate back, for which I said No thank you, I didn't even ask for a refund, I just brought it to their attention since it was rude). The only food we ate that was good was one roll, the beach balls and one order of blue fin sashimi. This place is absolutely horrible. The staff (outside of the sushi bar chefs) is miserable. We had to buss our own table to the table next to us, getting any additional help was like pulling teeth. The sashimi honestly tasted like it was old. I own a pest control company and let me tell you, this place is a health hazard, I have never seen so many gnats in my life inside a restaurant. Either they have a ton of fermenting food/ripe food or they have a drain/leak problem but they sure did not care about it. Please if you read this review, go somewhere else. CONS: With as busy as this place gets, they need more staff on the floor. When I arrived there were 2 other groups, and by the time I left the entire place was filled. Poor kids. They were slammed. I fully I understand why it took so long to get my food. I watched it all unfold before me. There was a whole lot of waiting. The table had this sticky film thing on it, something smelled and it was either the menu or the area I was seated at. I am bummed I didn't check out the rainbow macaroon thing, but literally had no time. I really wanted to like this place and make it one of our go-to sushi favorites, BUT ordering online did NOT work because they forgot to pull the ticket to fulfill our order. I prepaid and even included a 12% tip for a pick up, not even delivery. Their text notified me that it would take 45 minutes. Ok, 45 minutes later, our order was not ready, we saw the hostess/waitress pull our ticket and hand it to the sushi chef. We waited another 25 minutes for the order. We were there they were not busy at all, surprising since the prices are a bit lower than I am accustomed to and the quality was quite good. Only to later find out that they didn't have any noodles left so I was forced to pick something else. I got an appetizer of vegetable tempura and sesame chicken, neither satisfied me. This place has really great quality sushi! I am very finicky when it comes to spicy tuna rolls, but oh man this place did it perfectly! They are not cheap with the amount of fish in the rolls either! I also got the salmon and avocado roll, salmon skin roll and California roll, all excellent! When I went to pick up my order, the place was PACKED. Granted, it's not that big, it's actually kind of small, but cute decor. That tells you that this place MUST be good if every table (and sushi bar) is completely filled. Their fresh fish case at the sushi bar was dripping water from the coils that ran the entire Length of the case and was dripping water all over the top of the fish in the case. I had just ordered my food when I noticed this did not complete my meal I paid my bill and left. I will probably be contacting the health department for this is a major violation and many people people can become deathly ill. I have worked in food service for over 38 years and have never seen anything this horrible. read more

We have been going here every once in a while simply out of convenience. The Sushi is ok and the other dishes rather poor. Terrible Ramen and terrible Teriyaki; not authentic and cheap quality ingredients, let alone the taste. However, what put us over the edge to the point that we will never spend a single $ in this establishment is the following: we called to order and wanted to use the coupon from the city shopper mag "free special roll with $35 minimum purchase. Buy 1 special roll and get the 2nd one for free". We had an order at $36 w/o tax including a special roll and when I said that I would like to use the coupon the guy on the phone said to me that I need to buy 2 special rolls to get 1 for free. I tried to clarify and refer again to the coupon and he repeated what his rule was. That is a deceptive business practice. Bad business ethics. Don't recommend! read more

Went here on our weekend trip To Oxnard per recommendation of a family member, and although it was nice to be able to eat some sushi and rolls on our trip, can't give it more than 3 stars. Unfortunately I did not enjoy the miso soup and even though it was nice that they gave us complimentary tofu drenched in some kind of sauce (sesame I think?), the sauce was too strong for the 2 tiny pieces of tofu they gave us. The rolls themselves were not bad, we ordered the Omega roll, Y2K roll, crunch roll, California roll, and salmon sashimi. I must say that the Omega roll and Y2K roll tasted very similar. Crunch roll was good- they gave us lots and lots of crunch, but as far as the sashimi goes, honestly I've had better elsewhere in LA. What I didn't really appreciate also was being told that they won't give us wasabi until we finish our wasabi on our plates. Gave the impression that they were stingy with their portions. read more

I have had 2 totally different experiences here on 2 different visits... In January 2019, I came here for a lunch special and was amazed at the amount of food they gave me. I was able to take half of it home for dinner. The food tasted pretty good - the chicken was a bit fatty and dry (Low Quality), and the sushi was small, but overall, it was a ton of food. I think my total was $16 for a bento box and no drink. I really enjoyed the lunch and planned on coming back. In October 2019, a friend and I came here and sat at the sushi bar to watch the "live action" of the sushi chef creating the rolls. I was REALLY, REALLY bothered to see that the main guy had a band aid on his finger and while he was rolling the sushi barehanded, his bloody band aid kept flopping off his finger and into the food. He kept pushing it back onto his skin, but it wasn't sticky enough to stay. I pointed at it and told the waitress and she rolled her eyes and then went to him and said something in a different language. The man didn't respond, didn't change his band aid, but kept rolling sushi. This really bothered me, especially since it looked like an open wound with blood... I showed my friend and he even said "let's leave". I haven't been back since, but if cooks are willing to do this in public, it worries me what they are doing in the kitchen. I hope no one got sick... this is very dangerous, especially since Camarillo serves an older demographic. I read other reviews about this place recently and it sounds like both Masa Sushi locations have had similar health concern type reviews written about them. read more

First off let me tell you.... when the REAL Masa owned this place it was amazing. However when he passed away and his wife sold the business the new owners just totally messed it all up. Mass used to drive down every morning to LA fish market and bring back amazing fish, the new owners just order it online from a vendor. The quality has absolute crap and the service is horrible. It took me 40 minutes after being seated to get a drink and the waitress was so looney that she even brought the wrong drink. Miso soup was good but other than that I would NEVER go back.
