You will always find the place to be mostly full but you'll always get a table ranging from a party of 4 up to 8. The place is known mostly for deserts and that's really what you should be going there for. I have lived in the area for over 15 years and have never been to this place until last night when a girlfriend of mine wanted to go to chat in a low profile place. The atmosphere and decor was very comfortable. The place looks as if it has been there for years and was never remodeled. But even though the chairs were old, they were very comfortable. I literally felt as if I was sitting in my living room having tea with a friend. I like it when a place makes me forget about time and this place succeeded in that. We ordered a pitcher of green tea and mango sorbet and everything was delicious. I was skeptical about ordering the sorbet at first because I was afraid is was going to be a block of ice with mango flavor but to my surprise it was delicious. It was the food and the atmosphere that earned this place three stars. If only the service was as good as everything else was, then this place would have gotten a full five. We had to wait at least 30 min before a server came by and that was only because I screamed out "EXCUSE ME". This makes me wonder how much longer would we have stayed in our seats without anything if I wouldn't have taken initiative to call a waiter over. But the waiter was nice. I was here with friends tonight for desserts. Been here for few times for desserts and I love it every time. The place is nice and comfortable. It opens until very late which is good for summer time. About the food, since I only had desserts here so I'll only talk about desserts, I had powder tea (Apple flavor) today, it taste very good but a bit too sweet especially since we are eating desserts with it. We ordered the "3 chocolate mousse cake" (white & dark chocolate mousse cake), the assorted Turkish pastry desserts. It was good but didn't give me the wow factor, but this Kunefe dessert we ordered, it gave us the wow factor, it's a cheese dessert, it was very sweet, it was warm/hot. And I remember I had the lemon sobert in summer time once, it was tasty and refreshing, I'll definitely have it again when it's warmer out. We came to the restaurant this evening and still here so this is a live post. My opinion is, the food is great, service is slow and the restaurant is too big to run efficiently. For waiting staff using iPads to place orders, there shouldn't any errors. However, that was not the case. An order was missed and placed in the system not once but twice and came out wrong. The broken English within the staff is challenging having To repeat yourself so many times. Lots of excuses and service turned me off from not wanting to come back here again. Most tasteless and bland food I've ever tried in a Turkish establishment. Whoever is running the kitchen at Masal Plus is doing a terrible job. Good place for desserts and coffee. It is one of the best dessert places in Brooklyn. After trying Turkish coffee at Masal it is hard to drink regular coffee. No comparison! The atmosphere is relaxing and fancy. The antique furniture adds to the ambiance. You can come here with a large group, or just with another person, there is plenty of space. Hookahs are available, should you have a need to puff something. Dessert menu selection is good, and desserts are good quality. Don't let the name fool you, Masal does not only serve a wonderful authentic Turkish breakfast, they have plenty of various foods that are unique in their own way. Kumpir which is AMAZING is one of Masal's signature dishes. Imagine a giant baked potatoes stuffed with cheese, Russian Salad (olive) , olives, and Turkish sausage, the outside is crispy (YUM!). They also have an array of various deserts ( I'm talking a book filled with pages of deserts!). Upon entering the cafe it has a very warm and friendly feel. The owner is truly a gem and could not be a nicer person. He is almost always there to greet his customers with a smile :) I would definitely recommend this place at any time of day!
