This place are not kids friendly !!!! Today I took my daughter for a hair cut (she is the one getting the hair cut and almost 2 yrs old), she was doing great the whole time. At the end, while I was paying, she started to cry (not even running around), than an older guy from the store came to me and tell me if I can calm her down (not in a nice tone). Jeeze, first, the whole store was freaking noisy, full of people chatting and loud. Second, she was crying maybe no more than 3 to 4 minutes. So you want me to calm her down and not pay? I am a girl who likes to change her look (sometimes drastically), and since I have started seeing Nagi, I am looking for excuses to go back! She is amazing! I have seen her four times now, and after each of the first two visits, I was not quite happy with how my hair was looking. I called her and explained, and she immediately scheduled me for some touch up work. Both times, I left my 're-do' visits extremely happy and already looking forward to seeing her again. I went from auburn hair to blondish to very blonde in two visits, and my hair is still shiny and healthy thanks to the tips Nagi has given me (without trying to push a bunch of product on me). I spent 4.5 hours at Mascola's last night with the amazing color magician, Lisa. SHE IS SO WONDERFUL. I came to the salon with an absolutely horrible highlight job that I had done at another salon only 4 days ago. It was so awful, I was thinking the only option would be to shave my head and I had started shopping around for wigs on the internet. The top was silver like Bea Arthur from the Golden Girls but the bottom was bronze. There was also some gold in there meaning my hair featured every color of potential Olympic medals to be won. Not only did Lisa correct the problem, I am extremely happy with how natural it looks. And by God, my hair is soft after all that! Soft hair I tell ya! read more

Terra Barker has been cutting my hair for years now and I followed her from several salons to Mascolas. The new location in Lake Oswego is awesome by the way. I know several people ( men and women) that see her and I have heard nothing but good things. As for my own experience I have had nothing but the best service.. from her amazing scalp massages to her incredible attention to detail, her mens hair cuts are well worth it! I purchased a groupon to try a series of hair removal sessions. I was tired of shaving my underarms, and thought it wouldn't hurt to give it a try. I had gone in the past to two other places for single trial sessions- leaving with only some results and a feeling I was only a dollar in their pocket. This is exactly the opposite with Jeani! She has been so professional and took the time before we even began the first session to explain the skin and hair types the treatment would work on. I appreciated this information. Maybe this is why I didn't have the results before now. After the first session I saw great results. After 2 sessions shaving was only once a week. After 3 sessions- well so far no shaving needed!!! My mom called to make an appointment and the receptionist was very rude to her - she's never experienced such a rude treatment before. First she was told the person she asked for doesn't work there. after hanging up, my mom confirmed that she did work at Mascola as their website advertised her services. She called back and was told that the person is booked for 2 months. When the next available appointment was requested after the 2 months, she was told the person does not accept new patients in a rude and disrespectful way. My mom has an accent and I believe she was discriminated against based on her accent. I plan to follow up with Better Business Bureau. read more

Her loving and caring personality mixed with her attention to detail and very professional and amazing hair techniques creates for the perfect stylist. She always gives me honest feedback and is educating me on the hair process and what I need to do for fabulous locks. I have had my hair cut, color and hydration treatment and I have never been disappointed. This rating is solely for Yumiko. Ive been in Portland for over 2 years and have been having no luck in finding the right stylist for my liking. I used to get my hair done by a Japanese stylist in SoCal and have been addicted to that type of styling. I have tried many salons out here, showed pictures, explained what I wanted and like and have NEVER walked out happy. If you look up Japanese hair styles, you'll see what I'm in to....very layered...thats about it. I came across Yumiko on google and her bio made me want to book right away! All I can say is that about 10 minutes into my cut, I could tell that Yumiko is what I have been looking for. I showed her a few pics, and these pics were just to show what type of styles I like, and I let her use those as inspiration and let her do whatever she thought would be best for me. She cut my hair so amazing and was EXACTLY what I wanted!!!!!!!!!!! Probably even more awesome than I even wanted! If you like Japanese hair styling, it is almost impossible to find out here. My mother in law went in for color correction....158$ for color and cut.... Keeley was the stylist. She told my mother in law it would even out once she washed it. Six weeks later and plenty of washings....dark brown almost black roots and light brown roots. I took my mother in law back. There was, no apology or "let me make it right no charge". In fact she just made excuses. I ended up taking her home and doing it myself. Turned out light brown root to tip....What a waste of money!!! My mother Iin law believed her when she said after she washed her hair it would be ok and even tipped her 25$ ....what a waste of time and money! Beware... I am giving 1 star because the cut was good. read more

It's in a great location in Lake Oswego and worth driving out from where I live near Beaverton. Terra's been a great stylist as long as I've known her. This review is less about Mascola's salon specifically and more about All About Skin with Jeani Wright. I purchased a laser removal package for Jeani's services and she has been more than wonderful. She pays great attention to detail and has a charming personality. Every time I arrive at the salon I feel very welcomed and comfortable. Jeani always remembers every part of our previous conversations even though I only really see her for about 20 minutes once a month. That is pretty amazing especially because I know she has a very busy schedule and sees many many clients everyday. For this I look forward to seeing Jeani because she makes me feel special rather than any other person walking through the door looking for hair removal, in addition to her great service. She always double checks with me that I have not been tanning my skin for my own safety with the laser and for the effectiveness of the treatment. She is a wonderful person and I would recommend her services to anyone who asked me where I had my laser hair removal done. read more

This is the best salon in Lake Oswego. I have been going here for 12 years and I just have to say not only is my stylist amazing but the front desk receptionist are the most friendly I have ever seen in a salon and everyone who works there is very helpful also. I have to give my 5 star review to Breana today though who is the best receptionist ever she always has a smile on her face and always offers me something to drink and makes sure my stylist knows that I have arrived. She makes the salon a better place to walk into. I have been to salons that the front desk people hardly even talk to you but at Mascolas that is not the case. Whenever I call to make an appt. she is ALWAYS super friendly and is there to help me and every other customer that comes to Mascola's. I went in yesterday for the first time! I have always seen this salon when driving by to pick up Chinese food at Hunan Pearl or get a quick burrito at Taco del Mar. I thought I'd try it. I recently cut 8 inches off my hair and finally needed a trim since the big chop off. My experience was pretty good. I waited longer than I wanted to be seen but I know the hairstylist, beauty world is busy so I didn't mind much. I had Lisa cut my hair. When we went back to her station, I instantly felt comfortable. She was so sweet and nice. The consultation was great and I felt like I was really in good hands! Haircut went great, I'm really happy. Only ONE not so great thing to say... My blowout was disappointing. She left my scalp/roots completely wet and damp. I wasn't impressed with that part. At the end of it, I told her that my roots felt damp still so she went back through and quickly dried it. I left with my hair pretty flat at my head since my hair was basically still wet. I still liked Lisa enough to make a future appointment with her though for my color. I have purple hair right now and want to go back to a natural light brown. She was very confident that this could happen pretty easily. I'm real excited for what's to come and think I've found my new stylist/salon! read more

Yep, I'm a fan. I have a great stylist who is excellent. Malissa listens to what I say I want and then pulls it off every time! She and I have worked together (it has been a collaborative effort) on getting my hair cut, colored, and styled in a way that manages to make it look great and yet natural at the same time. I have had gone short, punked it, and then let it grow out in layers, gone gray, put some lowlights in it, and then gone back to many lowlights. I like switching it up and Malissa has been willing to do that with me - and make some wonderful suggestions for improvements. The Salon is warm and inviting and the staff are friendly. I haven't had another stylist there, but if I didn't know Malissa I would be trying out a few who I find to be just as attentive and expert. The salon is convenient and easy to find after the first visit. The prices are pretty reasonable despite the fact that I get top of the line service. Try them out! read more
