We came to Dr. Masha after my daughter was diagnosed with large curve scoliosis. Dr.Masha helped educate us and helped us navigate our options for treatment for my daughter. She encouraged us to advocate for more time for bracing and PT. In the five months we've been seeing Masha weekly and using a brace (Masha gave us a list of orthotists who make braces, along with recommendations), our daughter has decreased her curve by 10 degrees and is currently out of surgery range. I (32F) started going to Masha in December 2024 after over a year of debilitating pain caused by scoliosis. I had tried 3 other PTs with limited or no improvement. My entire left side felt like it was squeezing me to an early death! More importantly, I couldn't do the activities I had done before and felt hopeless. In our first session, Masha taught me TMR and 4 Schroth exercises and my specific corrective posture. I tried these for a few weeks and made progress. Where do I begin?... Dr. Masha Katz has been a God sent! When I found out my daughter developed my genetic scoliosis , I didn't know what to do. I have suffered my entire life with back pain, and didn't want her to suffer like I have. When I was a child there weren't many options besides a back brace, which didn't correct curvature only prevent it from getting worse. Her orthopedic doctor referred us to Dr. Masha Katz for schroth physical therapy. I spent months going back and forth with insurance and as I'm not surprised!! Schroth therapy is not yet a recognized therapy. Why you may ask.. this process entails "Study's" which blows my mind, that these huge hospital haven't done yet! If orthopedic doctors are referring patients and getting results... take the next step so you can help so many more children. Insurance it's called "preventative care" prevent these children from having to have surgical intervention. Moving on from my rant, Dr. Masha Katz found a way to help us even though insurance turned their backs on us. We are so appreciative for her and the organization that helped make it possible for my daughter to get the care she so desperately needed. It's important to tackle Scolosis while children are going through puberty and growth spurts. Even though my daughter is a year into her puberty/growth spurts, she's already shown great improvement in her spinal curvature. We are diligent about doing her exercises, that Dr. Katz made sure we fully understood as she's always been helpful in guiding us every step of the way. Parents please always stay on top of your children's health and examining their bodies are their growing up, to ensure you catch things early. If you notice one shoulder is higher than the other get them checked! Have them put their feet together and bend over to touch their toes.. look at their spine see if it's straight. Dr. Katz was highly recommended by our pediatrician's office to address our baby's torticollis. Dr. Katz throughly examined our baby and educated us on the types of exercises and massages to do on our baby at home. Within that first initial session, we saw improvement with our baby's head motion.
