I came here once before for a private event and I sort of fell in love with the ambiance, style, food and service. When my husband came to town I felt that I needed to bring him here and show him that I found this absolute amazing spot at the rim. When I came here the last time I noticed that the decor was absolutely amazing, the moonshine is creative and yummy as well as the service is spot on. We we're told that the new deep dish pizza was coming to their menu in September and so one more reason to come here. As we came I was super excited about the pizza as i got to sample it and i was obsessed already. sadly at the time we came the pizza was still not being served for reasons out of the restaurants control so they were gracious enough to send out the manager and a appetizer so we could sample something else amazing they have to offer. we got the pepperoni roll as it resembles a pizza dish and could potentially calm my hunger for some awesome pizza. it was an ok appetizer, pretty tasty, however a bit fried heavy, to me not a super awesome option for a repeat visit but ok for a first curious try. one thing that i am not a super fan of is the gravy, it is a signature gravy for this restaurant and they are very proud of it, it is not a bad tasting gravy at all, i just personally do not like it, unfortunately that is the dip for this appetizer, so try to see if they can send another dipping side with the dish just in case you also dislike the gravy. my husband ordered the rebel burger and that one you cannot go wrong with, the fries are always perfect and crispy, every single one crunchy and perfect. i could not for the life of me find some other dish to have as the pizza craze was embedded into my heart, it took me a good half hour but i finally committed to eat the meatloaf dish. obviously my husband was bananas for the burger and fries and he ate the entire thing there even after the appetizer. this is an AMAZING DISH FOR SURE, super recommend. the meatloaf meal comes with some cool presentation on a very trendy looking style and on top of a newspaper like cooking sheet, it is a very stylish dish and pretty delicious as well, with was a bit larger but it is indeed enough if you have an appetizer on the side that is for sure. we had for drinks the happy hour moonshine drinks and those are always a great choice. ever since my last visit i have seen that the pizza is finally on the menu, so i would say that you must have that pizza if you get he chance to come there, this pizza is the single most amazing pizza i have ever had so far, so run to the restaurant and try to get your hands on this pizza. if you are not lucky enough do not worry, they have plenty of great items on the menu, give them a try you will love them as much as i do, i am certain. read more

My wife and I went in for brunch on Saturday and absolutely loved it. For an appetizer we had the flower power. Shockingly good. She had the unholy one, which is a French toast fried chicken sandwich and I had the Tator eggslposion. Both were really good! Can't go wrong with the $12.99 carafes of mimosas. A beautiful young woman greeted us with a smile at the door and ushered us into the restaurant. All of the staff at the front was smiling and helpful! We asked to sit outside and we were accommodated without issue. Our table was clean! Ivan was the best! Our food was hot, flavorful and came out QUICK! When my husband's order was incorrect, it was corrected within minutes. Ivan checked on us throughout the meal and I was happy to leave a great tip. We wanted to try a new brunch place, and this place came up in our search. It is located within a bunch of shops and restaurants, so watch yourself with parking. The brunch menu looks a lot better than it tastes unfortunately. The biscuits were super soft, and not flaky at all, though the honey was amazing. Had a great meal at Mash'd. Our server was great and made up for a lack of reception presence at the door. Had the spinach corn dip as a starter and it was as advertised. The Bulgogi Tacos were solid as were The Powerhouse salad, Cheeseburger and Chicken Sandwich all were delicious. Only drawback is the noise but I won't complain as it was football. 60 minutes was left on for a while and that was way too loud. Definitely will return. read more

Went here with some family on Saturday for brunch and this was such a great find. We were seated and greeted by our amazing server Armando. We decided to start with a round of their $2 flavored mimosas. I got their peach, which was light and refreshing, but had more of just a fruity flavor, but not much of a peach specific taste. For food I got their Avocado "Toast" pizza was nothing short of amazing, so flavorful, a little heavy, and just oh so gooey and delicious! The crust was caramelized and cheese pulled just right. It was topped with jalapenos, pumpkin seeds, and avocado. It also came topped with two eggs any style and I got them scrambled. I wanted to keep eating, but I eventually turned to my drink which was the blue moon mojito. It wasn't the best, so I switched it out for the "Knockout" punch and it was no problem, Armando was understanding and so sweet. The knockout punch was strong, but smooth and I love that it came in a red cup--reminded me of my college days! Overall Mash is so great! Love the moonshine theme and the laid back environment! Mash'D was open at 8:30 when we were searching for a place for dinner after a basketball game. We were greeted by the host upon entering, the place looked nice and inviting with great lighting (edison style bulbs, LOVE!) and good music, lots of television screens for watching all different sports. The music was upbeat, but a little bit loud on the bass, we were still able to converse and hear our server. We sat in a booth, they are a bit low but nice and cushy! Drink selection is interesting, lots of things to choose from. Range 9-12 for a mixed drink, a little pricey, but that is typical for the SA area. Menu - ranges from $9-15, and some plates are $20ish, with a nice selection of different things like tacos, salads, sandwiches, and pizza. Everything is scratch-made. I enjoyed my roasted chicken/avocado tacos, and we also had pizza, which a was a thick square type crust with pepperoni, mozzarella and sauce. Service was not stellar, empty waters, but indeed friendly. Will definitely give this one another visit sometime! read more

I truly love this place. On the occasions I get to be with my girlfriends or go on a date, I always choose this place. I have yet to be disappointed by the food or service at all. The ambiance is amazing here. It is quirky in the best way and showcases the kinds of moonshines served. One time, I was having a sad time and the waiter saw me crying and was just so terribly sweet and asked for consent to hug me. I wish I had his name so I could praise him. We hardly had a wait for two people on a Sunday, PRIME BRUNCH time and we're greeted/seated by a very friendly host. It got even better when we were seated, our waitress Janae, was as good as it can get. Not only was she super attentive but asked if we had questions and made sure to check on us. We asked for the shrimp/crab volcano and instead of telling us no she asked the kitchen if they can make it early and they did! The food was tasty, the peach mimosa carafe was worth the $12 and we left more than satisfied. The chips and queso is really tasty. I've been here twice and the bulgogi tacos (hopefully I spelled that right) are my FAVE. They're really juicy, the taste is special, and it's everything you want it to be. I've also tried the garlic butter siracha wings and those are good just not super special in my opinion. This place can get pretty busy around brunch so I would recommend making a reservation The atmosphere is great, we typically try to sit at the bar as we like to interact with the staff and other guests. On a beautiful day like it was, they have the windows open and the outdoor patio open to guests. Can't beat the lovely weather and the layout of enjoying both the indoors and outdoors together. The menu has "cutesy names" that tell you nothing, making you read all the little fine print of all the ingredients below. The food itself is not particularly bad, but not all that good either. We came in for a bite on Sunday. It wasn't too busy. Our party of 8 was seated almost immediately. The server was great! She was very personable and accommodating. I would have given this place two stars, if it weren't for her. I had a salad with added crispy chicken. My husband and two little boys had burgers. A friend off mine had a chicken sandwich and her husband had a pepperoni pizza. The burgers were good, so I was told, as well as the fries. My salad was not so great. They put on the wrong dressing, the salad leafs, themselves, were browning and the chicken was so tough I couldn't cut it with the knife that was provided with the silverware. It seemed almost like it wasn't cooked when I ordered it. My friend who had the chicken sandwich said the same. They also forgot her sauce on the sandwich. If you're debating what to get and don't want something too strong, this is a safe bet. This place is great from the decor, to our waiter, to the food and drinks. i was a tad nervous because it was a Sunday on a holiday weekend and we got there around 11am but our wait was only 5 minutes! I ended up getting The Unholy One which is a friend chicken sandwich made with French toast, it was nothing short of spectacular. My bf got the Mash'D-Tator eggsplosion which was equally just as good. FYI they have $2 mimosas on Sunday. For 2 meals, 2 mimosas and another drink we spent $44.00 I definitely cannot wait to go back and try the other dish I was eyeing. Met a friend for lunch at the San Antonio location. Our waitress Natalia was super sweet and attentive throughout our meal. Atmosphere: It's nice nothing super special to write home about. We sat inside but they do have a patio area that has a sign that it's pet friendly. Food: We started with the Spinach and Corn dip was pretty good! I would definitely get it again. We had a couple of drinks which were good as well. I had a cheeseburger with side Caesar salad. Cheese burger with no bun, added bacon with a side of the aioli sauce, and ranch of course :). The burger was good but would skip the Caesar salad in the future it was pretty bland. Friend had the Mahi tacos and ate them up. MY FRIENDS AND I HAD THE WORST EXPERIENCE HERE TODAY! I will not be returning to Mash'd ever again. We were a table of 5 ready to enjoy brunch and a few mimosas. For starters, our waitress was SLOW. She had no sense of customer service. We waited 25mins just for her to bring us our drinks from the bar and water, which our drinks were all wrong but we still drank them and never brought it to their attention. Secondly, 2 out of the 5 people at our table received their food AFTER an hour and a half of waiting-- and the remaining 3 individuals did not get their food until 15mins after the first round of food came out and we were done eating. The waitress never came to check on us and only sent the manager to tell explain to us why the food was coming out at different times. All the manager did was make excuses for their lack of customer service and never accommodated to our needs. When the remaining order came out the food was COLD. Once again I brought it up to the managers attention since our waitress still never returned! The manager's name was Carlos, and he apologized and gave more excuses. He then said he would not charge that one individual for his meal since he did not eat it, and provided 5/$5 coupons for our "next visit." After being at the restaurant for 2+ hours, they brought us our tickets only for us to argue back and forward with the manager because they would NOT REMOVE the other individuals meal that they said THEY WOULD NOT CHARGE SINCE HE DID NOT EAT IT BECAUSE IT WAS COLD. After literally 30mins of arguing they finally adjusted the ticket and removed that individual's order. In addition, we turned around to use the 5/$5 on our current tab because we will not be returning. THERE ARE SO MANY BRUNCH PLACES IN SAN ANTONIO THAT ARE WAY BETTER THAN MASH'D! How in holy moonshine have I yet to write my review on Mash'd. [insert pondering emoji here] I'm a huge fan of this restaurant and can't rave enough how great of a place Mash'D is. As a fan of this part of town, I enjoy swinging by here for drinks and food whenever given the chance. Every dish that I've had here has been tasty and impressed me every time. Some dishes I highly recommend are: -Chicken Fried Pepperoni: this appetizer is every cardiologist's nightmare but everyone's dream. You have to grab a plate of these! -Chicken & Biscuits: This delectable plate of carbs and protein is so good you'll be asking for extra gravy! -Bootleg Ribs: They literally fall off the bone and are so juicy! -Bulls In A Blanket: "pigs in a blanket" taken to a whole other dimension. -French Toast: This plate of heaven will blow your mind While you're here it's a must to try one of their moonshine cocktails! I love the outdoor patio when mother nature permits such sitting. Texas weather is seriously notorious for flip flopping weather patterns. Brunch here is a signature staple and you can't go wrong with their $2 mimosas and $5 bloody mary's. Ordered drinks which took another forever to get. Sat about 20 more minutes just to take our appetizer order. Had the queso, which was ok, just very small. Also ordered the sort of fried ish cauliflower. They fried the whole head, uncut. So most of it was bland and mushy. It was weird. After we finished the apps, the waiter finally came around to take order. I had the bulgogi tacos. Dontt waste your time. In fact, i wouldn't waste any time here. Our waiter NEVER took one dish or glass off the table. We had several drinks and he never took the empty dishes. We had to ask him to take the appetizer plates just so we had room for our main courses. Saturday night and this place was not busy. and all other restaurants were packed. They have reverse happy hour, even on Friday's. My go to appetizer is their guacamole. It has grilled pineapple in it giving it a sweet and salty flavor. This time around I had a salad and my boyfriend had the ribs. He said the ribs were tender and tasty. The salad was filling. They have two sizes to choose from. I chose the larger size and shared it. We were initially gonna go to a different restaurant, but last minute we changed over to Mash'd. Mostly because I'm from Dallas and we have most of all of the other restaurants in the area available back home. There was a bit of a wait so we decided to sit at the end of the bar. BEST DECISION OF LIFE! Food: I ordered the meatloaf, he had the pizza. Pizza was a nice square deep dish. Meatloaf was flavorful and had a great texture. The potatoes and sauce that was served with it complimented it perfectly. All three together was a "best bite" each time. Atmosphere: fun, great music, not too loud. I love how the bar is half outside and half inside. When the weather is perfect like this weekend, that can't be beat. Staff: Imma make this short. We felt like we were hanging out with friends. We chatted and laughed and had a great time. Specifically let me shout out Aubrey. The girl is perfection. We loved her so much that we came back the next day for brunch to hang out with her again. My family and I have been coming to Mash'd for over 2 years. It had been our absolute favorite brunch spot until today's visit. I'm not sure if management changed or there was a chef change, but things are different. I usually get the Migas which had some spicy chorizo and came assembled in tacos. Now, they've switched up the recipe and it had sausage and you have to self assemble the tacos. It was not very tasty. Also, they only sell coffee in individual French presses that yield about a cup and a half of coffee for $6.00. So no more coffee refills. Also, the chicken tenders are spicy and they don't tell you that even if you clearly order them for your 2 year old who wouldn't stop crying after taking a bite. Anywho, we probably won't go back. Third time here and each time hoping it'll get better. There's lots of different drink options that should satisfy any taste. But the food leaves me wanting. My friend had a cheeseburger which he said was OK. I tried the Shrimp and Crab Volcano. Mistake. I really never found the crab which was supposedly in the bed of dry rice in a skillet. The shrimp were a few sliced in half. The dish was tasteless. On a plus side, the draft beers were cold. Service was excellent sitting at the outside patio.
