We went for Easter Brunch and we were very disappointed. The seating was for 11 am and by the time they sat you and ordered your drinks it was 11:15... at noon sharp they placed the check in front of you. The cost was $30 per person but you didn't even have time to eat your moneys worth. When I made the reservation they asked for $90 non refundable deposit which I was ok with but when we received the check they had taken $30 off because my daughter never made it. She attempted to come at 12 but they wouldn't let her in. The staff was friendly but you never saw them. They charged 18% on the tip. There was complete chaos in where the food was, which was " ok". We had been here before and it was much better , that's why we returned there. I won't go back again. FYI the table next to us had 20 people and they too were disappointed with the " rush" to get us out. It was Easter, family time.. an hour is not long enough. read more

Went there with a buddy to find a new place to drink. Bartenders were really cool and friendly, good laughs, good recomendations... then the loud mouth owner walked in and started yelling at his employees in a very unprofessional manner... he explained our discomfort with his lack of professionalism and he told us to go somewhere else in a snobby attitude... I refuse to give someone like that a penny and hope you do the same... The burnt end is a good sandwhich but other than that.... it's all garbage.... okay food with an okay waitstaff.... if you go... sit at the bar and beware of the bald, fat owner.... he will make you uncomfortable!!! read more

I used to enjoy dinners at the Mason Jar up until the new ownership headed in a new direction. The food portions are much smaller (yet somewhat cheaper) than the previous ownership would serve. The burger is changed, I believe they have changed the cut of meat as well as the bun. the bun used ot be really fresh and hearty, cooked on site i think. New bun is smaller and not as "meaty". The mac n cheese side seemed watered down and somewhat cold when served. The pizza also has changed and is more in line with pizzeria style pizza, not what one would hope to find at a true brick oven establishment. Good for traditional bar type pizza but not nearly as good as the old style. Most of the servers and bartenders have remained on staff but some that were there for years have moved on as well. I will continue to try this restaurant from time to time with the hope that it gets turned back around in the right direction. on a positive note they have put more beers available on tap and have specials on buckets of beer on certain nights. also have live bands if that is your thing, enjoy. We had the Mason Jar cater our son's wedding rehearsal dinner and were pleased and impressed with everything - start to finish. The American Jar-B-Que food was FANTASTIC, and even better, the cook and server were incredibly professional, personable and helpful. Contrary to the casual name, the bbq was elegant and plentiful. Visited Mason Jar last Saturday night to see a friend's band playing there. After being seated in the half empty room, (it was way past dinner hour) we waited patiently for our waitress to approach us. Well, fifteen minutes passed, and we were pretty much ignored. I took it upon myself to head over to the main bar where I went ahead and got drinks for our table. She did come over finally, and asked how we were doing, but when it was time for another round, I was forced to go back to the bar, where I found our waitress very busy on her cell phone. The only reason I'm giving 2 stars is because of the fun I had seeing friends I hadn't seen in a year. Our waiter seemed "not right" -- drugs or something? The food is fine -- if the price were a whole lot less. The wine tab was outrageous: be careful, they'll charge $12 for a not at all good pour of fairly basic Chardonnay. When I questioned that, the fellow who came out to talk to me said he was the owner, but he did not look like at all like the nice, caring man in these photos, he was scraggly and dressed poorly and looked liked a homeless man. I stopped coming here when I took my staff out to dinner. The iced teas come in Mason Jars and are full of ice, we ordered refills and got charged for each refill in a glass that held maybe 5 ounces of iced tea. Obviously they know you are going to drink a lot of them. I think I paid 15 dollars in iced tea refills. We moved to another place that gives free iced tea refills. Not to be cheap, but I think if you refill sodas, you should refill iced tea. read more

Wow, I have no idea how this place has stayed in business all these years. My family and I live locally and have gone a number of times, and the food has never gotten better - if anything it's worse now. The night of Halloween we stopped by around 6pm for dinner. I asked for the cedar-plank salmon and received grilled salmon. I asked our inattentive, bored waitress Ashley to confirm (after waiting over a half-hour for our food), and she said 'yes it's what you ordered' without even looking at the plate she gave me. It had grill marks and did not have the flavor and aroma indicative of cedar-plank salmon, so no, it was NOT. The mashed potatoes were flavorless and cold. My boyfriend's roast chicken dish was honestly disgusting. It had very little meat, and was rubbery and lukewarm. The only thing good was the corn bread, but that was also lukewarm. I wonder how long our plates sat there while our waitress hung out chatting with other servers by the entrance to the kitchen? She took forever to bring our food and we had to flag her down repeatedly for drink refills and the check. Aside from service, the food here is pretty bad. I've had the pizza and ribs in the past (supposedly this place's signature dishes) and they were mediocre at best. Again, I question how this place has stayed open all this time - maybe the fireplace and bar? It's beyond me, but I'll NEVER go here again!! read more

Never again! I have been here at least 50 times and left positive reviews. We ordered a beer and a wine, the wine came with at least 6 flies in it. We ordered Asian wings, a personal pizza and a burger, requesting it medium. The wings came drenched in sauce, as though it was ladled over the wings-too sloppy. The server never cleared appetizer plates and empty glasses until asked. The pizza came a full 15 minutes before the burger, I was done eating by the time it came. When the burger came, it was RARE, red, cold in the middle. It was sent back, they were told not to remake it, just give us the check. Then the owner came over, told us we were wrong, the burger was medium. We have always sought out the owner to compliment good service and good food in the past. He continued to tell us how different temperatures of burgers should look. We told him that the whole night was off, from the wine to the burger and he kept telling us how wrong we were. The only reason they got 1 star is because I can't give them less. read more

tried the mason jar for the 1st time tonight. had to wait a long time after being seated for the waitress to come over and say hello/take a drink order. the food was just okay, not bad but not great. the buffalo wings were good size and meaty but the buffalo sause wasn't very good. the baby back ribs were just average and over-seasoned (the spice they were covered in was overpowering. mac and cheese was decent but my onion rings were overcooked and dry. the cornbread was tasty. they have live music in the bar area if you're into that. read more

I'm going to miss this place. Been going for years but after yesterdays meal, it's over. I once had the best burger I ever ate there until the new owner's took over. Now the food is nothing to brag about, the prices are up, and the portions are small. After the server spilled my iced tea on the table (a pure accident and he did apologize several times), my wife and I moved to another table with our 2 year old son. After they cleaned the table we were asked to move back which I said we were fine where we were not wanting to move our son yet again. My wife ordered a grilled chicken on a toasted english muffin with mozzarella cheese and grilled onions. The english muffin wasn't toasted making it very soggy, and she got swiss cheese. When mentioned to the server, he admitted his error and just offered to take the price off the bill. Never asked if they could make another or for something else. We ordered a small burger for my son and asked it to come out when ready. Yep, it came with all our food. I got the burnt end platter, a mix of their jar-b-que beef and pork. It was okay but the portion was smaller than we used to get. Don't expect big sides anymore either. My wife's rice came in what looked like a small dipping bowl. My sweet potato fries looked like they were from the local shopping store's frozen section, and only a few on the dish. The server was very nice and kept apologizing for everything or else the rating would be lower. But this place in nowhere what we've experienced in the past and have no desire to return. Was in the area last night for the first time with a group of people, and this place looked decent from the outside, so our group of 11 stopped there for dinner. And the overall reviews from everyone were very mixed. RIght off the bat, the biggest disappointment had to be the KC baby back ribs, which were ordered by 3 people in our group. And I felt bad because all 3 wound up hardly even eating much of them, as starving as they were, because they all said the meat was extremely dry, and to quote one person "disgusting". None of us in the group could remeber the last time that any of us had a bad experience with ribs anywhere. And the last place you'd expect to have a problem like that is at a BBQ joint, but we did. Another person in our group had the Buffalo Chicken sandwich, which apparently was also very dry and not very appetizing. I, myself, had the Pulled Turkey sandwich which was slightly on the dry side, but I added enough extra sauce to it to make it taste pretty good. I thought that the sandwich, being only on a hotdog roll, could have been bigger, too. Others who had burgers, chicken fajitas, quesadillas and the tuna sliders all claimed that those were pretty decent, but no one seemed overly impressed. read more
