This location is horrible. It is loud and therapist talk the entire session . Think twice before you spend your money here.

Recently treated my mother to some "me" time by spoiling her with a facial here at ME with Lorraine! Upon entering, first impressions were that the receptionist was friendly and attentive, establishment was nice and clean and the esthetician Lorraine was beyond informative and friendly. Would highly recommend booking an appointment with her if you're in the market for a facial or chemical peel! She was also very detailed and meticulous. 10/10! read more

I could hear the frustration in her voice while trying to explain things to me , but she remained calm and gave me a great suggestion of checking my bank statements to reverify. I am shocked they barely has 3 stars. This is the best Massage Envy I've been to for facials. Trying to find a good esthetician is so hard. I've been to almost every Massage envy in Northern VA, from Reston to Chantilly to Leesburg. Not only did I finally find one great esthetician I found two! Laylah (completely butchering her name so sorry) was the first esthetician who I loved but tragically left the company. They replaced her with Lorraine who was also amazing and knew exactly what my skin needed. The front desk is always so sweet and kind. I would trust these ladies with any product recommendation! Every product I've purchased here have became must haves in my skin care routine as they have completely changed my oily acne prone skin. They're never trying to just sell but truly take the time to know my skin inside and out. 10/10 will always recommend this location. 100% worth the 15 extra minutes from my house vs the location that's 5 minutes away. (Shazia at Leesburg was also wonderful but a bit too far for a 60min facial for me) read more

Sadly I need to update this review and more sadly give them 1 star. For me to give one star is pretty bad as I usually try and give businesses the benefit of the doubt. A few issues I've had as of late have resulted in me also canceling my membership and sadly I can not longer recommend this place to anyone based on my unfortunate dealings with this location. 1. Getting an appointment if you work a M-F 9 to 5 job has been increasingly difficult. Getting a weekend appointment seems to be next to impossible. 2. The other week I show up to my appointment after getting an email confirming it only to find out after I'm checked in oh sorry your therapist no longer works here and there's no one else available. 3. I rescheduled the appointment from #2 and oh your therapist is running 30 minutes late. Well unfortunately I have to be out of there by 3 and 2pm was the only time I could get on a Saturday. Again find this out after I get there. At this point I'm beyond frustrated and furious that's twice I've made my way to this location only to leave sans service I ask to speak with a manager and the assistant manager is on duty although she offers me two services I ask for a refund on the last two months of pre-paid services since none were to be had. I don't want a free service if I can't get service to begin with. At this point I just want my money back. Not to mention the time I lost in getting there. A refund seems like reasonable compensation. Unfortunately the assistant manager isn't authorized she tries calling her manager at another store without success. I then call the phone number for the franchise owner and left them a message too. The store manager is supposed to call me. Let's see if that happens and I'll edit if there is resolution on that front at least. Really unfortunate up until recently I never had issues and for the most part had good massages here. Time to take my business elsewhere. Just wanted to add on the manager did reach out to me to discuss my issues. She did work to rectify things although I still plan to end my contract after I try and use up my remaining massages at other locations. To me if a business cannot value my time, then I don't have time or money to spend with them. I have called four times to book an appointment to no avail and finally I got the scoop...right now they only have three therapists because they are all getting re-certified...so that is why their next appointment is two months away. So you are running a business that specializes in massages...but you only have three therapist available... why would anyone make that kind of dumb business decision? read more

Let me start off by saying that I have been a member of this Massage Envy for 4.5 years, until today. When this place first opened, I signed up a few months afterwards. Up until the last 6 months, this place was great. The therapists are usually decent and I believe I've only had one therapist that I wasn't totally satisfied with. Brenda and Char are the best therapist there but to get on their schedule you have to book fairly ahead, which is a great sign that they are the go to therapist there. Now here is my gripe. The front desk and management. These folks have got to have the worst customer service ever. I understand that the front has a high turn over rate, which I usually am ok with over looking it. However, after giving this place the last few months to work out the kinks that they currently have, I have had enough. I called 2 times last month, during business hours, to only get the voicemail box. Ok, they are busy I get it. I leave a message (like it asks you to) and hope that someone calls me back so that I can schedule my appointment. No one bothers to call me back. I then call back the next day and all I get back is attitude about how they get busy and sometimes things like this fall through. Nice customer service. I get better service in a hospital ER room than here. At least they get back to a person in a timely manner. Yesterday, I called to make a 2 hour appointment for today at 12 noon. Today, I get a call at 10:40am to tell me that the therapist that had my appointment has called in sick and that they need to reschedule the time or to another day. I'm sorry, do they not have a company policy that says something to the fact that employees must call in sick by a certain time like 8am when they open? I am a business owner, and if I didn't call my clients in a timely manner before their appointment that day, I'd be out of business. By my calculations, I've spent over $3,186 in member dues over 4.5 years and have tipped over $1,620 to the therapists. These numbers are based on $59 per month with $30 tip. This does not include the extra times I do go there each month which would double the figures given. That's a down payment on a house, car, boat or whatever, people. If they can't figure out how to treat customers well then they don't deserve my money. I'd rather pay a higher rate for great customer service and massage therapist than spend what I have had and get crappy service. read more

Too bad you can't give negative stars. Summary: avoid at all costs... or costs is what you'll get - in your time, money, and patience. First of all, make them write down all your appointments. I've had the times changed, the masseuses changed (without warning), etc. When I've brought this problem up to them as a recurring issue, the best I got was a rude, "Well, you're wrong, but I can see if I can move the appointment for you." Even when I had THEIR schedule printout in my hand, they still insisted I was wrong about my appointment time!!!!! While I like my masseuse, she told me she thought she had pneumonia and coughed throughout the session! Don't give them your credit card unless you're willing to shut the card off trying to get them to stop charging you. Also, make sure when you DO initially request to close the account, you make them give you a copy of the request. They'll say the manager needs to call you before the account can be closed, but the manager has no intention of calling you because they want to continue to charge membership fees. There is NOTHING RELAXING about an experience here, and there is NOTHING I "ENVY" more than people who have been smart enough not to sign up. Perhaps the other locations are better, but this is the WORST experience I have EVER had with a spa, and I am embarrassed that I gave this place a second chance (had a similar experience the first time and couldn't imagine they were still in business unless they'd improved - couldn't have been more wrong). Not sure how this place is still open except that most people don't have ten hours a week they can spend trying to cancel their membership. read more

UPDATE - We are going to file legal action. We have called American Express and blocked the vendor and gotten the charges credited. I still can't get the manager to return a phone call after 3 calls in the same week... wow. Horrible administratively! Do not give them your credit card or the nightmare will not end.. and the practitioners are average, at best. UGH we have been dealing with an 18 month cancellation process after we moved. We are starting the THIRD round of this. Twice now we "canceled" and revives itself.. We have canceled IN PERSON because thats the only way they will do it, credit cards are refunded, and then a few months later the charges start again... OMG do not join this place. read more

When I have been able to come in, the massages have been fine. However, getting through their system is impossible. They never answer phones and I always seem to miss their call back- which means nothing gets booked or resolved. There are plenty of other massage envy locations in the area that I can go to, but when I'm trying to deal with my account specifically it's near impossible. Dear Shaniece (no last name provided), Manager of Massage Envy, Sterling, I am writing to express my extreme disappointment and frustration with the treatment and customer service my friend and I received on Tuesday, December 31, 2013. To celebrate my friends birthday, we booked two massage appointments for December 31st at 1pm. At the time of scheduling the appointment, we confirmed that one appointment was for a prenatal massage and the receptionist let us know this service was available. However, when we arrived for our appointments, we were told that they tried to reach me because the clinician I was scheduled with was not certified in prenatal massage. The number they had for me was incorrect; they transposed the last four digits so I never got the message. When I asked about booking another service instead, we were told that they gave my time slot to someone else because they hadn't reached me and wanted to fill the time slot. I am appalled that a company would assume the customer no longer wanted the appointment without speaking with them first. Instead, you and/or the employee(s) determined that rather than allow me to select another service, they preferred to give it to another client. Perhaps the person I was originally scheduled with is only licensed to perform massage services, however this was never conveyed. A woman, who I assume is you or another manager, offered to book us for another date, giving us each 90 min massages for the 60 min price. While it was a nice gesture, neither my friend nor I live in the area and coordinating schedules to meet at this location on that date took a significant amount of planning. If it is standard company policy to cancel appointments or not offer alternative service options, particularly to pregnant women, then I highly recommend this being looked into as it feels like discrimination. We were both looking forward to our relaxing massages at your company, which we both had heard good things about. This was meant to be a way to celebrate my friends birthday and instead, the treatment we received left a sour note on what was to be a happy occasion. Any future spa services I book will not be with your company, at this location or otherwise. read more

I don't know how the massage would have been because the terrible booking system prevented me from ever making it there. This is what happened: I used the online system to request an appointment. (which doesn't show you available time slots... you request a slot and hope for the best) A couple hours later I retrieved a voice-mail confirming that the requested time slot was available and asking me to call them back if I still wanted the appointment. Within an hour I called back and got their voice mail... in which I left a CLEAR detailed message confirming that I indeed wanted the timeslot. (Which of course I do, im the one that requested it to begin with) -- Concerned on the day of the appointment that I had not received any confirmation I called back only to find out they didnt know who I was nor was I on the schedule and that the time slot was filled. The receptionist asked if I wanted to reschedule. I told her no because I don't have time in my life for a business that can't manage their appointments. read more

I would normally probably give 3 stars, but I have finally found the massage therapist and aesthetician that I like! I was suckered into a membership and have a ton of sessions racked up. I should never agree to memberships (gym), I waste too much money. I have had plenty of massage therapists that were too light with pressure or hitting the wrong spots and/or talking too much, but over the past year I found Baha. He is amazing, I highly recommend him. I can't remember the aesthetician's name (sorry), but she was awesome. Friendly and knowledgable. I love the actual massage portion. The rooms are small but clean and not exactly sound proof. But I'll tell a masseuse that I want to focus on X, Y and Z and instead they do a full body massage even though I said that's not what I really wanted. Sometimes they push too hard and sometimes not hard enough and they never ask if I am okay or hows the pressure. Another thing, an hour long massage -- no, its more like 50 minutes at BEST. They always offer water after a massage but hustle you out into the lobby as soon as possible. Last and biggest problem. COST. I had a gift card for 60 dollars but because I was once a member I had to pay another 60 bucks (total of 120). To become a member, the whole cost is 840 dollars for a year. I'm not doing that again, so instead I just paid the 60 bucks to use the card and got the massage. I'll get my massages elsewhere. Update: Today the manager from Massage Envy called me to say that I was in fact overcharged for my massage. I should have just paid the gift card price and nothing more since it has been a year since my membership expired. Good job massage envy for making your wrong right... Originally, I gave this place two stars for the following reasons: I asked for a female therapist and got a male, and the therapist that worked on me was sick during the massage (a cold or something, but definitely a lot of sniffling and some coughing). I ended up getting sick within two days, and there's no way I can clearly say it was due to the therapist. However, a massage is a personal thing, and certainly it's easy to see how that's possible. The reason I gave it two additional stars is because, after filling out the customer experience survey, in which I let them know my thoughts above, the general manager called me personally and offered me a free massage (when I was feeling better) as well as a giftcard to Wegman's to "try the chicken soup." Very creative and appreciated customer service. As for the actual massage I received, it was just okay. I used to go to Eclips in Ashburn to see Angela, who was awesome, but now Eclips no longer does massages. But, who knows, after this next massage, and their general manager's desire for good customer service, I may come back. read more

The staff is rude, and their policies are constantly changing and you are never notified of it. I like Massage Envy much better than the other massage place in Ashburn. I've gotten massages here twice- once for my legs and feet after reconstructive foot surgery and 2 months in a cast and once in my second trimester. Both times they did a good job and I felt the technicians were professional. Yeah they try and up-sell the membership but it is a good deal- especially if you get the gift membership. That's the trick. Pay in advance for however many months you want and it won't automatically renew and you won't have to worry about remembering to cancel it on time. It's the same price and comes with the same benefits. My husband bought me a 3 month gift membership for Valentine's Day so I may update after I've used that if anything about my opinion has changed. I'm writing this review to give a HUGE shout out and thank you to Christy who totally went above and beyond today and extended a courtesy that made my day. I originally signed up for a 6 month membership at this location when I worked temporarily in Dulles, VA before starting my full time position in Arlington, VA. I only went to the Sterling location 1x, and frequented the Leesburg Pike property the entire year I lived in VA. Low and behold, when going to book my final hot stone today to use up my remaining 2 credits, I find out the Leesburg Pike location never contacted the Sterling location to process my membership cancellation so I was initially told I would need to bring the account current by paying for 4 more massages in order to redeem the 2 I already paid for. Crazy talk right? Right..... 2 hours later, Christy calls to tell me she waived the 3 months of "back dues' and said I would only have to pay the 1 additional month required with the 30 day cancellation, so I can book my hot stone for this weekend which I DESPERATELY NEED. My shoulders are so tight and.....I digress. THANK YOU CHRISTY! You TOTALLY made my day! P.S. Be careful with those Health Spending Account (HSA), Health Flexible Spending Account (HFSA)funds! Massage Envy will tell you that you can apply HSA/HFSA funds as long as you sign up for the "program" but they are only eliglble expenses if a doctor prescribes massage as part of treatment plan! After a host of billing and appointment issues, I cancelled my membership after 1 year. Although it is very nice to have a massage on a regular basis, it was difficult to get an appointment on the weekend unless you booked a while in advance. The facility is calming and the personnel friendly. The therapists themselves are hit or miss. The last massage I had, I barely felt the pressure, despite my request for firmer pressure. I have had fabulous massages from Kelvin and I know someone else who loves Patricio. read more

I wanted to thank Charles once again. He is the only therapist that can eliminate all the knots, adhesions, and tension from my back, neck, shoulders, and even from beneath my shoulder blades. (Car accident) He can do this this through a non-painful deep tissue massage. The other therapists hurt and even left bruising. Charles does not disappoint. (You can only use him as long as I can still book with him....that's the deal.). ;) The reception staff at this location is exceptional. They really do go out of their way for you. First - lots of reviews mention scheduling problems. I tried some time ago to book an appt and eventually gave up. But I tried again today. I called, left a message; went online and made a request (although online I couldn't request same day which is what I was hoping). I got 2 calls back - one from my message and one from my online request. In the end, they were able to get me an appt tonight (a Tuesday at 7). I was pleased with that. The facility was clean, and checks the boxes for the requirments of such a place, but it was lacking something I couldn't put my finger on. I just didn't get "relaxed" like I normally do. The technician (therapist? not sure what they are called), was friendly, asked appropriate questions, and did a good job but again, it was lacking... what it was lacking I couldn't say for sure. Maybe the spa music should have been louder... armotherapy must be an extra charge (it's standard elsewhere)... maybe it was me. I don't know. Positives: 1-It was a value compared to other places I have been 2-I got a same day appt (although my friend who is a member says they are always booked when she calls) 3-Everyone was nice, pleasant, did their jobs well. Negatives: I don't know... but it wasn't awesome. *******UPDATE FROM THE FOLLOWING MORNING******** I stand by my review from yesterday, it wasn't awesome and relaxing. BUT, apparently she did work a kink out of my neck that's been there for a few weeks. my first time, I had a gift card and this one had better Yelp reviews than Herndon. I used my hour for reflexology today. It was a very good massage, I stayed dressed and person worked feet, hand/arms/ head and shoulders. I felt very relaxed. I have muscle pain due to endocrine disorder and some massages can really hurt but this went really well and she is very friendly, was asking how I was doing during the massage. As a former massage envy member from another state, I have become accustomed to the varying ways this business is ran. I have frequented a number of these chains in various states and have had a mix of experiences, some good, others not so much. Well I must say I was happy with the service I received on my birthday from this location. I booked a 90 minute massage with John, he was fabulous by the way. John used firm but not forceful pressure, his bedside manner was awesome and he even put me to sleep! Always a good sign of a good therapist. I also had a 60 minute facial that was amazing (asian lady) sorry cant recall her name. My skin was glowing afterwards , I would definitely go back to her again. I have already booked a follow up appointment and will see if this stellar service continues....hence the 4 stars for now. read more

I normally just go in and do a traditional aromatherapy massage; however, I expressed to my therapist that I just wanted to focus on my back for this session. He was super accommodating and made sure that the pressure was okay throughout my massage. The two girls I interacted with at the front desk were also very friendly. This particular location of massage envy is all about the $ and not the service. The manager has a defensive, condescending attitude and is not customer oriented at all. The therapists are okay; a few are actually excellent; however, there are several who just don't know basic anatomy or kinesiology. In fact, several of their therapists are NOT certified. They have failed the national certification exam! I have found much better customer service, less attitude, and better follow-up at the herndon/reston and fair lakes locations which have a different owner than this location. I suggest you try these other locations. Avoid Massage Envy Sterling/Dulles at all costs particularly the manager. She has an attitude that could ruin any benefit you may have received from a m assage. read more

I received my email confirmation the day before and when I arrived, my therapist had called in sick, my reservation wasn't in the system and no one had called to cancel or put me with another therapist. I've had nothing but positive results from the Sterling VA location located in the area of where Wegman's and a few other eateries are located. Nothing but good service, accomplished massage therapists, and they've helped me recover from my injuries and gotten down and really worked it. I LOVE the fact that they allow you to book ahead after you're done with your current appointment. They CALL YOU to make sure you're coming. I've had multiple massage therapists here, ALL of them have been good and know their work and are Professional as well. They also call me, if there's a lapse in time and check to see if I would like to book an appointment as well. So, yeah - No issues, I'm a very happy client with this location. read more

I have been a member of the Sterling Massage Envy since it opened. I have a standing appointment EVERY WEEK and have always had outstanding massage therapists. HOWEVER.....overall, the front desk staff is the most poorly trained group of people I have ever encountered in a business. They have difficulty scheduling appointments, they cannot respond to any contract or billing questions and there seems to be no understanding of how to work with the public or what "customer service" means. There are a couple of individual exceptions...I try not to talk to the front desk unless I see one of the "competent" individuals working. I haven't wanted to give up on this location because I LOVE my massage therapist but I think I have been pushed over the edge. I spend $350 monthly here (including tips) but think I have had just about enough of Massage Envy Sterling's complete lack of customer service. read more

I would give my masseuse a 5 star, Renee. very happy with her, she always works whatever pain I have. Before I left he clinic last week, I talked to the person in the front (didnt catch her name, dark haired) and while trying to book a couple's massage, another person walks in, and she starts talking to the customer, ignoring me, okay, I am relaxed, just had a wonderful massage, I will let it slip. Fast forward to today, I call (granted, 30 mins before my appt as my sitter bailed) and this chick, Angelina ( think is her name), picks up and tells me that since I didnt have 24 hrs to cancel shes charging me. So I asked her, how much will that be, puts me on hold, comes back, says, full price, then says, oh 50%? So I said, okay, btw, how come you guys never confirm aschedule, she immediately said, yes we do, so I ask her what number do you guys have for me, she said, I have your cell and your work number and we called you yesterday, I said, funny, I didnt see a call and no VM and even with the last appt, I never got a call. So I said, that's fine, just a question.. I continued to ask her how much they were going to charge me, she said, full price again, so I said, will you take that out of my massage credits ( I have 10), she said, oh, so at this point, I was getting impatient with her, I said, how many appts do you see for me? What does she do, transfers me to someone else. So this other person says I can help you, I said what happened to Angelina? she doesnt answer me, proceeds to tell me the same crap, less than 24 hours, have to charge you (which I understand), so I said, yes, that was what I was ask Angelique /Angelina earlier. My massage experience has always been great at Massage Envy, but I've only had 1 positive experience with the people that work up front and thats when I called them the 1st time. After that, its always been mediocre, they make you feel like I should be thankful that they are helping me out. One solution, I am going back to Herndon, might just be 1 customer Sterling is losing, but word of mouth is much more powerful. Sad how customer service in most places have gone out the window.
