I had a 90 min facial with Alayna yesterday and it was just what I needed. I was most concerned with my dry, winter skin. The treatment she recommended was perfect! I felt relaxed and hydrated. I came here thanks to Groupon-which kind of sucked because it was location specific and I clicked the Wilmette one when it would have been more convenient to go to their Chicago LP location. No matter-I needed to get this done before their coupon expired and I decided to smack them in the face by scheduling it exactly one week before it expired. I called, made a reservation, gave them my Groupon number and waited a couple weeks to come in. I came in a few minutes early and was seated in a waiting area and filled out a doctor's office type questionnaire. I did mention that I had a wonky right IT band that was okay now and a left hip pointer right now which the receptionist went over, in a really clinical way, location/duration/pain scale. He said he would relay that to the massage therapist. My massage therapist was really good-friendly but I wasn't in the mood to talk so he kind of took my cue and just went to work. He paid attention to my leg but kind of glossed over my hip which was the thing I wanted more attention put on. Everything else though was thoroughly worked on to the point that I felt like i went from a slightly knotty bundle to a relaxed, gooey mess. Where do you go when you are pregnant, need a prenatal massage, and cannot afford to pay $90 - $100 per session? Massage Envy! I have been coming here on and off for the past few years, but I was finally talked into getting a membership (at least for the pregnancy). I have had massages from a couple of their prenatal therapists which have been night and day. They do have a couple therapists who are certified but you need to request them. The front desk is super friendly, and their management is very accommodating. Bathrooms are clean and have a nice touch with terry cloth towels. The only downside is dealing with the craziness of Edens Plaza on the weekends. read more

The massage therapists are generally pretty good. Some are excellent and some are meh. But buyer beware of the subscription program! The monthly subscription program sounds like a good deal based on the price but comes with lots of conditions attached which are NOT explained to you - sure, you can stop at any time - but you can also lose a lot of money invested. If you can't keep up with 1 per month treatment (I have 8 in my account), you will have to deal with the following restrictions: (1) You can only transfer 1 massage per month to another person and there is a $10 transfer fee each time; (2) You can only transfer to the same person 1 time during a 6 month period (just learned that today); (3) If you cancel, you must use all credits within 60 days or lose them; (4) If you want to freeze your account so you can use them to catch up on your credits, you can't! Freeze new accrual, yes - but that also freezes your ability to book appointments. What good does that do? So, essentially, lots of rules to make it profitable for the branch and very restrictive and costly for the consumer. read more

I've been going to Massage Envy at this location for many years. I believe ownership has changed in the last 1-2 years and there has been a definite improvement at the front desk. I've been going to Viktor for the last couple of years and he is by far the best therapist there (that I know of). I work out regularly and also have a job that keeps me sitting much of the day. Viktor delivers a great combination of massage and stretch, which has improved my flexibility significantly. He is easy to talk to if you'd like, and will also just let you relax in quiet if you prefer. Always polite and courteous. A very skilled massage therapist. read more

I almost never write anything on Yelp, and if I do, it's to praise. It was impossible to make online reservations. And when I would call, it was equally difficult to make reservations. And they were often a week or more out. I called to try and cancel, and the woman who answered the phone said she would email me a cancellation form. Which, of course, she never did. I emailed corporate and several days later I received a form that now, I had to spend more time filling out to unwind my relationship with this terrible franchise. Then, the cancellation policy doesn't allow me to cancel for another 10 days. Will never use them again. read more

I've been able to use some of the massages that my husband who is a member could not keep up with so that is very nice of them to help him out. The service and booking an appointment making is nice and easy. The girls up front are helpful and accommodating. I like that there is always plenty of parking here as opposed to some of their locations down in the city. The only reason I didn't give them 5 points is that they can't keep the massage therapists very long. Once I get used to one, he or she leaves and I have to get used to the next. The girls up front are helpful in scheduling me with therapists who can give deep tissue massages but I would like there to be some consistency. read more

Viktor is an amazing masseuse at Massage Envy in Wilmette! I have an incredible tense back and neck and he has been so helpful in working out the knots. He also has recommended helpful stretches I can be doing in the off weeks when I don't see him! He truly cares about his clients. Overall, the COVID protocols make me feel incredibly at ease. I am not prejudiced, but I am speaking from experience when I say that the indian lady that did my facial has no tact or skills, and her customer services skills are not only non-existent but somehow along her career path she learned to be rough with clients. I love Seth and Ron to name a few. I pay upfront for the whole year and get a bunch of gift cards and gift them to my mom and she LOVES it!! I always get the 1.5 hour massage and it's an escape from reality for me. And the front desk staff - especially Denise the assistant manager - is awesome. It was bound to happen, the franchised massage place. And this is one I would recommend. I understand there are about 300 locations in the U.S., so for those who travel for work or pleasure, this may be very convenient. This particular location is the most convenient for me, as there are no locations on the north side of the city. But if you are a person who benefits from and enjoys therapeutic massage, but just never gets around to it, this may be a good set up for you. You can always go and get a massage here whenever you like, but you can also join as you would a gym, and they will charge you $58.00 per month, which will guarantee you at least one full hour massage per month. Not a bad deal as full hour massages in the city run much more at your average spa. But you are signing a one-year contract as you would with cell phone service or a gym, so you need to be prepared to pay the full contract unless you move to a place where there is no Massage Envy location. When your bank, credit card or account has been charged, they will give you a reminder call and schedule your massage, which I personally find convenient and helpful. They have a good supply of both male and female therapists. I had massages from two different female therapists or masseuses, but recently had one from a male therapist. His name is Lucian. And I am writing this review specifically to recommend him. His massage was simply the best I have ever had. He works there only Saturdays and Sundays. Even if you don't join, I believe they have an introductory full massage for $38.00 (then they try to sell you a membership, but they're not obnoxious about it.) So just go there for one good massage and ask for Lucian. It's well worth it. read more

They had this great $31 massage deal back in September where profits went to the Susan G. Komen foundation and it just happened to be two days after the Chicago Half-Marathon so I quickly booked that deal! I was a little wary of this location since it is located in a strip mall in Wilmette but the front desk waiting area is clean, relaxing and the staff is very friendly and professional. My massage therapist was great - he really worked out all of my knots and soreness. I'm used to telling massage therapists my trouble areas but he stopped me and said "I will give you a whole body massage and if I come across an area that needs more work, I will focus there too" Okay? Sure! He did a great job and it was a fantastic deal. Another bonus for me - this location is close by my in-laws so my son gets to play with his grandparents while Mommy gets a mini break. read more

I was a member of Massage Envy Wilmette since 2008. I have always had sensitive skin and since a young age I would see a dermatologist bi annually. There would be time when my skin was more sensitive than others. After some time I would break out from receiving massages (when I was able to get in). I thought I would get a massage at least once a month but I just wasn't. So my monthly membership would pile up and this factor made it hard to cancel. Massage Envy policy gave you a 1 month to use all your massages otherwise they would cancel your membership and your would lose the remainder of the massage. At times I would build up to have 10-16 unused massages. They would always work a deal with me (or at least that what they would call it) to transfer 5-10 of the massages to someone else. So I would, but they alway made it a point Never to transfer all of the massages so I would be inclined to have to use 2-4 massage (otherwise go to waste if I wanted to cancel right then and there). I never wanted to waste my money so I would make a good attempt using the massages that I paid for. After 2010 my entire membership would consist of me playing catch up on the massages I paid for. I would good attempt to use the messages. I would go back for 2 hour massages, twice a week. The massages resulted in a bad skin reaction which stopped me from going out of frustration of breaking out on my back, shoulders, and arms. This cycle repeated itself for the next few years as I would complain about my breakouts to the admin when I was booking appt and the message therapist. They would recommend I try other product like their oil, gels, lotions. And I did, but it would still make me breakout and now it's come to a point that I have scaring from the breakouts. Recently, while in another cycles of playing catch up on the 16 massages I hadn't use. 10 I gave away. At the time my old credit card had expired so I hadn't paid for the last 4 massages. Message Envy Wilmette said they would waive 3 of the massages and charge me for one message and I would once again be on a recurring charge unless I canceled. So once again I made every effort to finish the package once and for good. I took my own Cetiphil Cream and got a two our message. Of course broke out again. I had realized I was wrapped up in a bad cycle of receiving massages and breaking out. I called the Chicago Massage Envy where I was going for the past few years and expressed my frustration with how much money I spent and lost. And feeling like a prisoner to this company. The lady was very nice and comforting and gave really good advice that (one that was NEVER given from any therapist, receptionist, or manager). She said "You can just bring in a Doctors note and we can get your membership canceled" After 6 year attempt of trying to cancel my massages and the breakouts why didn't anyone ever mention that??? I visit my dermatologist twice a year and could easily obtain a letter. After 6 Years, and over 50 massages given away, numerous complaints why didn't anyone recommend the doctors note? There is a reason why this company had a class action lawsuit filed against them. Don't become stuck in Massage Envy membership nightmare. read more

I've been a member for a long time at another location and always received good service at the desk and in the massage, but not here. Of the 2 therapists I saw here one, barely spoke English and was coughing into her elbow every 5 minutes. The second therapist was good but it's nearly impossible to consistently get a good therapist. I will be cancelling my membership and going elsewhere. Good day sir. read more

One star for massage AND service now. Man did this place go downhill. My friend and I both had an awful experience. I vowed never to come here after they messed up my appts and sent me home without a massage multiple times but someone got me a gift certificate. I was running 20 minutes late and when I called they said that they can't reschedule bc of back to back appts NOR could they just give me a 30 min massage today and let me keep the unused 30 minutes for a different day!! So I had to show up (they take your gift cert number prior to appt so they can charge you if you don't show). So I rush inside knowing that I now have 40 mins instead of 60 and no way of recouping that lost time. Fair enough i guess... I was late. Well they have me sitting in the waiting area for at least 5 minutes before the masseuse comes and gets me!!! We proceed in the room and I tell her to come back within 2 mins bc I will be ready. Of course she takes her sweet time. She then gives me the WORST massage I have ever had. She asked me what my pain points are and I told her shoulers and feet. She must have one cruel sense of humor because she avoided both areas at all costs it seems like. No joke she spent 50% of the time on my legs, never once touching my feet! (For all of you who think that's gross anyway, remember 1. she chose this profession and 2. I have the cutest little manicured feet LOL ) To add insult to misery, she said thank you and said she'll be back with some water 5 minutes early! You've got to be kidding me! Other places I go give you a full amount of minutes you pay for from the minute they start the massage to the end not from the minute they greet you to the minute they give you water. If you have back to back appointements then don't have the masseuses walk people to the rooms and walk them out. Put the receptionists to good use, there are like 4 of them. So I spent a 60 minute certificate and got 25 minutes of massage. I will never come back. read more

5 stars for the therapist that I usually see (Anka). She is fantastic and I would recommend her without hesitation. My encounters with the front desk, however, have been less than pretty. A few weeks ago, I came for my appointment only to be told that I wasn't "on the books". No apology was offered, no alternative therapist was offered, nothing. I was told I could come back at 5 p.m. (which was so not happening -- I live 30 minutes away) or come the next week at my regular time. Seriously? I more recently walked in for an appointment and to overhear the woman at the front desk telling the customer in front of me that his tip wasn't enough and showed him the recommended tipping schedule (which is posted at the front desk in addition to in the massage rooms). Their online appointment request system is also worthless -- you put in your requested times and even if you write in the comments (as I do) "If either time is available, please just book me and call to confirm", you will get a phone call back saying "We received your appointment request, please call to schedule your appointment". read more

I have my next apt with Noor since Sharon is not available on a Saturday until SEPTEMBER! Will update my review afterwards. One other note, when I came in for my last appointment which I waited 3 weeks for Sharon, she had already left for the day! But the front desk staff were great and made it right. I have tried this location several times as they are closest to me; however, the front desk reception is consistently rude to me even when I have no issues or concerns and I do not think I will go back. The massages are always fair- not spectacular. I have even tried to pay with gift cards and there are always issues and concerns. I'm a massage envy member, and I think it's great to have the luxury to go to any massage envy and be able to use your membership benefits. But one of my biggest issues with massage envy in general, is the lack of uniform service at all the locations. Also, the technique and skills vary between masseuses. Somehow I was hoping for some sort of similar experiences in chain message places. As for this location, it has ample parking as it shares a parking lot with Walgreens, Sports Authority, and Bed Bath and Beyond. And once inside, there's always someone cheerful to check you in. But after that, this location features starts going downhill. Their relaxation room is right next to the check in and check out desk, which means you constantly hear the door open and close, and become part of all sorts of conversations and phone calls. That is something I haven't seen at the other locations. All in all, it's a decent location for an average massage. read more

Massage Envy has certainly cornered the market on establishing very respectable, professional massage therapy. I take comfort in knowing that they maintain a level of quality in each of their locations. I became a member through the Tinley Park location but while working on the north burbs, I sought the Wilmette location for a lunchtime session. My experience held the same quality as my previous experience. On a therapist-specific note -- this time I could tell there was more experience by my therapist (I think her name was Nor?) She and I had a brief, yet important, chat about the areas I felt strain and she worked on them specifically throughout the session. Having listed the same issues to my previous therapist, she did work on those areas but not in the depth that I got from Nor. She really worked on the areas without compromising the rest of the massage time. It was fantastic. read more

Was looking forward to having a relaxing massage. However, I was not greeted by my therapist until 7 minutes had passed the original appointment time. No spa music was playing except a very loud fan in the reception area. After being greeted by my therapist I had asked to use the restroom before we start since no one asked me when I arrived 30 minutes early to my set appointment time. She responded by saying to go quick because it will go into our appointment time. The massage didn't start till around 10 minutes later and ended exactly at the original appointment time. Not sure why I didn't receive the full-hour massage. During the massage, my therapist was clearly not feeling well as she was coughing multiple times throughout the service. The music playing in the spa room wasn't what I was expecting. Hoped for a better experience. read more

The Front desk/ receptionist area was actually pretty standard and you know okay in that usual sort of friendly a front desk person that doesn't know you normally is. Good small talk I guess. Unfortunately the Massage therapists are not great, I hate to say it but his was by far the worst massage I have ever received. I went in of course knowing this was a chain but with high hopes that it would be a decent place to get a massage here and there since it's so convenient- but no. I won't be returning just because I hear there are other great places around this area, and because f the fact that the way I walked in feeling was the same way I left. Just meh.
