My friend, Irene, gave me a gift card for my birthday a few months ago. I decided to get one for her, too... so that we could go together! I paid cash to avoid credit card fees. When we redeemed our gift cards, tax was included! We tipped with cash after we were done. We both walked in, after parking in the front. There's a small, free parking lot. It's located across from the Convention Center. The same woman at the front desk was polite, efficient, and friendly! We used the restroom first, and got seated next to each other in the dimly lit communal room. The combo deal (body and foot massage) started with a warm water foot soak while our upper bodies were massaged. Later, we laid face down on the padded table, then turned over and got a scalp massage. My therapist was very strong. I felt like my back was bruised... haha! When my legs were hurting, I was able to move my leg away from the pressure. It wasn't easy to move away from the back massage. I guess I could have yelled out, but I thought that my back was probably tight and needed loosening up? Well... it was an educational experience. It's not really a relaxing type of massage, but I think I did nod off a little... here and there...

After that, I used the dry and charcoal rooms. The business was clean and organized. They had lockers for us to store our things in. I only knew the place existed because I pass it nearly every day on Kapi'olani. I'm assuming they had re-located from a different address. As soon as I saw the sign go up, I was intrigued. The windows are all covered up with shades so my husband and I immediately joked that it was probably a front for another type of "business." Over time, I noticed that newer reviews started rolling into their Google Map page. One of the reviews indicated that our joke was not far from the truth, but it was one negative review out of dozens of positive reviews. I decided to check them out today since I was in need of a massage. I called 15 minutes in advance and told me to come in. When I arrived, I tried to open the double doors that appear to be the front entrance. However, the doors were locked. Just as I was about to give them a call, I heard the door unlocking and then eventually opened up. It turned out those doors lead to their employees' area; the front entrance is actually towards the back where the parking lot is. Because I live nearby, I had walked over and I wasn't even aware that there was a parking lot behind that set of buildings. Asian-owned massage places are a dime a dozen in Honolulu, and I've tried about 10 places so far. But that's only because I have a regular place that I like and keep going back to, so they remain my standard. Unfortunately, the massage I got just did not meet my standards. The technique that the therapist used was a mix of everything: Swedish, deep tissue, Thai, stretching, and she even used her nails at one point. Although they have reflexology listed on their price menu, what I got was just a foot massage. Albeit, a good foot massage. The best part of the entire massage was when she worked on my feet and calves. It felt like she had found every single little muscle in my foot and worked out all the kinks. Based on my own experience and reviews from other folks, I recommend this place for foot massages!
