I've trusted my Jeeps with Massey since I moved to NC in 2013. They know what they're doing and have never hesitated to explain everything in full detail. I always, always get a call about price before they start repairs. And the turnaround is crazy fast. My Jeep is 10 years old so I told them to just give it the once over along with it's yearly inspection. I knew I needed new brakes, was having issues with a tire sensor and the actuator door on my ac/heat was going. It also failed inspection due to bad tires. They got all of the work done in 24 hours. Customer beware! Do not go here! Save yourself the headache and your wallet! I brought my vehicle in because the heat was not working. At first, I was told it would be around $300, which I was fine with spending on my older vehicle. However while they were working on it, a piece broke, which they never took responsibility for. Then I was told that this piece was necessary for the vehicle to run. So I had no other choice but to get the piece replaced, which brought my bill to over $900. This is not acceptable! When I brought my vehicle in, it was running fine, just didn't have any heat. Then they broke a piece which costed me several hundred dollars! read more

I brought my car in for regular maintenance and had to leave it while I was at work. I got a call mid day saying they want to replace my tires. They claimed they could see wire mesh sticking out of all four of them. That's weird...I had just replaced them a month prior. 25k miles later and there's still no mesh to be seen On the same day they broke my driver's door handle from the inside and tried to charge me $200 to fix it. I also had to clean up a bunch of oil they left all over the place. I haven't been able to get an oily footprint from the mats in the back seat. At this point I'm surprised they didn't try to charge me to clean the mats! I was going to leave at least a 2 star review because they typically did good work, but then I remembered after this incident I took my car to a different shop to get a second opinion. They said it looked like they hadn't been doing ANYTHING; my air filter was nasty and all my fluids were low and/or dirty. They are very nice people until you catch them in a lie. DO NOT GO HERE! All I needed was my car's ignition timing to be set since I had the distributor off. I thought to myself easy enough for a shop with Techs that are ASE certified. Picked up my car and was still running rough. Drove right back and told them. They insisted that the car was probably running rough due to another issue and if I wanted it to get looked at again that I would have to pay a diagnostic fee on top of the one hour of labor I had already paid. I walked out and took to another competent shop and sure enough the timing was NOT set correctly. They basically charged me for nothing. They could have at least rechecked their work. I guess you can't recheck something when you don't know what you're doing. read more

These guys have been my mechanics for a number of years. The last couple things just haven't set right with me. Seems like when I'd pick up my car what I took it in for didn't seem a whole lot better. When I'd take it back they'd hit me up with more repairs and the costs just started piling up. In February they told me I needed about $900.00 in repairs & not to drive my car until I got it fixed or I'd ruin the transmission. They told me it needed about 3 new sensors and the trans fluid was really bad. Last week I decided to try a place that a friend spoke very highly of. They specialize in foreign cars. Well, turns out my trans fluid was barely dirty, the sensors are fine, but my spark plugs were really bad and overdue by about 90,000 miles to be replaced plus the air filter was literally falling apart! Needless to say, I won't ever be returning to Massey Brothers! read more

They were great until I recently did some comparison shopping. I used to trust them with all my repairs and never questioned their charges (compared to others) until I recently had a big job done. I've been going to Massey Brothers for a few years and they've always been great. My car is twelve years old and I really need a new one, but I'm attached to it and they keep it running. They are not the cheapest game in town, but they always get the job done and they've kept my old BMW on the road, even though I'm in real estate and practically live in my car. With that in mind, they are still much more reasonable than the dealership! The only reason I gave them just 4 stars is because they left a valve cover off one time, but they fixed it immediately and got me back on the road. They are also very tactful,..like when I accidentally run into/over/through something and need them to make all of that go away. They look at me like that sort of thing could happen to anyone and they just get right to work. Bless them! read more

I had purchased about $600 worth of parts thinking I would do the work myself on my new (to me) truck. I purchased the truck knowing it had a lot of miles on it, and unknown service history, so when the driver's side front bearings got noisy, I didn't just replace the bearing, I also got new control arms, new ball joints, new shocks and new tie rod ends - all the things that can get weird at 150K plus miles. But as weekends got very busy, I realized this job was just too big for me to handle. (Did I really want to borrow a ball joint press? No.) I called Mr. Tire on Miami Blvd; they would absolutely not use my parts. Then I called Massey; and they said no problem. I explained what I wanted done. I wasn't given any sort of estimate (maybe that should have been a red flag? Maybe I should have asked?) They had my truck from 8 AM until 4. I watched nearly all of the work. So damn slow! I have no problem with the quality of the work they did; I watched - they did it right, but man, were they in no hurry to do it. Everything could have been done EASILY in 4 hours if they were better organized and showed a little hustle. 5 hours without the hustle. 8 hours is just downright ridiculous. Finally, I get the bill. $1,200 for all the front end stuff, (including alignment) 4 spark plugs and wires, and an oil change. DAMN! Don't forget, most of the parts were mine. This is just labor. The parts that they did use were WAY overpriced: spark plug wires - basic set $47. A super premium NGK set on Amazon is $21. Regular plugs, $6.50 each - where Autolite Platinums can be had for $3.10 on Amazon. I dunno. Maybe it is asking too much - these are good guys, I think they're honest and competent. They were very friendly; very nice in allowing me to watch them change the spark plugs so I can do it in the future (much, much trickier job than it was on my old Civic) but I just feel like I wasted the day and got raped on the prices. I came in at the last minute, they were closing. I had 2 trailer tires that needed to be swapped and quick (I live an hour away and was in a bit of an emergency). They all jumped right to it and stayed late to help me. Their machine wasn't the right fit for my tubeless tires (and they aren't a tire shop either so keep that in mind), but they did get them set for me and only charged me $10 even though they were working with me for over 15 minutes. I've taken my vehicles to Massey's for years. They are honest and trustworthy and do a good job. I had one $1300 repair recommended by Atlantic Tire. I took it to Massey's and they said it wasn't necessary. I've also had my heating system fixed for $60, where they blew gunk out of it. Massey Brothers did a head gasket repair on my daughter's car last December and warranted the job. Fast forward to August and the valve cover gasket leaked on the coils while on a trip to the beach. Massey paid for the entire repair at the beach repair shop- about $700 worth. Excellent job standing behind their work. I was very disappointed. The only reason I'm not giving a '1' star rating is that I was in a rather unique situation, so I'm giving some benefit of the doubt. Plus, the person working the desk was very professional. However, my disabled vehicle was right around the corner, and it was clear that they weren't very interested in working on it. Granted, it wasn't an everyday type of repair, but still something most competent shops would be able to handle. When we couldn't come to an agreement on a starting price for the work I needed done, I asked if they would give me a tow to the dealer. Even though I was willing to pay for the tow, and they had TWO tow trucks sitting idle in the parking area, they refused. ("We only tow to our facility"). Maybe that's policy, but I was willing to pay top dollar for the tow since I was going to have the work done elsewhere. Still, no dice. Long story short - I hired someone else to tow my vehicle to another shop and I was very happy with the work I had done somewhere else. It's really too bad as they are located in a very convenient location for folk working in the RTP area. I hope others have had a better experience. read more

I had a really unfortunate experience with Massey Brothers. My check engine light was on so I had my car looked at. They charged $90 for the inspection. They diagnosed the problem as a leak in the gas tank. They said the repair would cost $880 but they needed to order the parts. After 2 weeks, they called me back and I dropped off my car. An hour later, they called me and informed me that the part from the company was defective. They needed to order another part to replace it. 2.5 weeks later and they have not called me back. My check engine light has been off for a month now. I feel like I've been taken advantage of. I do not think they are professional. I will never return to Massey Brothers. read more

These guys took the time to properly diagnose my vehicles problem and took the time to explain the cause of this problem and the solution.
