    Coppa pie with sausage

This area has a lot of great pizza options, and Massimo's is the very best. Their Coppa pie with the sesame seed crust is amazing, one of the best pizzas I've ever had.

White pizza with broccoli and tomatoes good! Coppa pizza (red with sesame crust) delicious!

This review is for the pizza only because that's all I had here so far. My friend picked me up 2 slices of pizza from here one white pizza with broccoli and tomatoes, and one red square pizza with basil and a sesame crust. The white pizza with broccoli and tomatoes was good! The red square pizza which they call Coppa was delicious! It was definitely the winner of the two. The red sauce was so flavorful and tasty! The dough had a nice crisp on the bottom, and the top was soft just how I like it. I recommend Massimo's Cucina!

Great food and great service. We were recommended this spot and it didn't disappoint. Although they were super busy, we got our food relatively quickly and it was so good! The portions were large which was an added plus too. We recommend if you're in need of some reasonably priced Italian food

    Cesare Salad

My friend ordered delivery from here, and I wish she had chosen another place. The dressing with the Caesar Salad was weird and tasted more like Ranch, and there wasn't anything special about the salad. It was mainly just large pieces of lettuce, croutons, and grated Parmesan cheese. I also ordered an appetizer portion of eggplant, and I was pleasantly surprised by how big it was. Unfortunately, the taste was underwhelming. The mozzarella was like rubber, the eggplant seemed to be frozen and flavorless, and the tomato sauce was very bland. The ricotta inside of the eggplant was thick and didn't flow with the dish. The highlights of the meal were the side of bread that came with the eggplant and the croutons from the salad. The restaurant is fine if you are in a jam and need something to eat, but shouldn't be considered for a regular place to order or top notch food. I will be looking elsewhere or a place to order Italian food from in the area.

The gluten free pizza is disgusting. Don't waste your time. Cooked uneven and super soggy. Also the wings are wing zings and breaded

We just quit going out for Italian other than for tomato pies, but now we've begun actively looking for a place to enjoy simple Italian food--outside of the ubiquitous tomato pies. Gennaro's was our first stop, with the menu definitely reading more New World Italian than Old World. We started with a couple of appetizers: The Sausage Stuffed Mushrooms in Scampi sauce and the Antipasto Salad. I'm not a fan of Antipasto salads (I've a three item max addition rule for salads and tomato pies), but my wife enjoyed it. It was your standard antipasto salad for the area--perhaps more generous with the meat and cheese than the last one we ordered up the street at Papa's. The stuffed mushrooms had a good flavor, and although the sauce didn't really hit me as Scampi (the garlic wasn't really there), it was still good on its own, and I'd order it again. My wife ordered the Pork Chop Giambotta, which she truly enjoyed. It was a thick, good sized pork chop covered with a sauce that included potatoes, sausage slices, and sautéed peppers. The menu said that the peppers were hot and sweet, but they were pretty much 99.9% hot peppers. If that's an issue for you, I'd make a point in mentioning it to your server first. My wife doesn't do spicy, but luckily I was there to find a home for the hot peppers, and she said she'd order it again if we returned. My Veal Saltimbocca, however, was a letdown. The veal was overcooked and had lost its tenderness, but most surprising to me was that it was very different from the standard version I've known for years. Had I read the description more carefully, I'd have caught the fact it was in a tomato demi-glace rather than the white wine and butter emulsion I know and love. Also, the ham that was used was not the thinly sliced prosciutto one normally sees, instead it was a thick slice of something that I can't honestly tell you was prosciutto or not. The use of spinach instead of a sage leaf wasn't a complete shock, as I've seen that before. Overcooked veal, the prosciutto mystery, and tradition straying aside, the flavor almost bordered on being alright, but it definitely wasn't what I'd hoped for when I placed the order. To add insult to injury, I asked for pasta as my side, and was given a couple choices--I chose the linguini and got served a dente-less spaghetti. When I asked the waiter (who was otherwise extremely conscientious and attentive) if they were out of linguini, I was told that there's really very little difference between the two, which so blew my mind that I just shrugged and ate. While we were there, we could see that there were many people who acted like regulars enjoying their meals, and many of them were also eating tomato pies, however, we're on the hunt for a place that's going to satisfy our need for an Italian place that provides beyond the pizza oven. I'm up in the air about a second shot--my wife was much happier than me with the location (which means we'll likely go), but I'll definitely ask our server more questions about what I'm ordering next time to avoid any surprises.

On, the other side there is table service for sit-down meals. There is a separate entrance for each. However, you can get through from one to the other. Prior to our meal, we received fresh hot baked bread along with a delicious dipping sauce. I think it might have been an eggplant and marinara combination. We ordered the Chicken Portobello, Chicken Parmesan, and Eggplant Parmesan. All of our entrées were really good. However, the star was definitely the chicken portobello. The name does not do it justice. it was so much more than portobello mushrooms. It had sun-dried tomatoes, dates and a delicious cream sauce. Although we were full after our meal, we ordered a slice of the tiramisu to go, based on some of reviews. It was good, but not worth the price. The prices of the entrees and food items were very reasonable compared to other Italian restaurants in the area. I'm definitely a fan of Lola and would like to try their pizza next time.

Pros: The wait staff was friendly and courteous. The dining…read moreroom is spacious and well laid out, with tables comfortably spaced so they are not on top of each other. My Chicken Piccata was well-seasoned and flavorful. Cons: While the staff was pleasant, the service was extremely slow--especially considering there were only seven tables seated and we were the first to arrive. Our table of five ordered just two appetizers, yet the entire meal took three hours to complete. This delay was not due to extended conversation but rather very slow kitchen execution and service. Additionally, over the course of three hours, I was served only two glasses of water, the second of which I had to request. Water glasses were left half-empty for long periods; refills should be automatic. Finally, the broccoli served with my Chicken Piccata was ice cold. Overall: There are many other Italian restaurants in the area offering comparable pricing with significantly better food quality and far superior service. Based on the above mentioned, I'd give this a 2 out of 5 stars as this restaurant has some redeeming qualities, but not an experience I'd return for.

That is like opening a lemonade stand between two Niagara Falls. And yet Nonno Sal's keeps the ovens hot and the lights on. There's something admirable about that. Persistence is a virtue, and so is knowing exactly what you are. Nonno Sal's isn't chasing the high end pizza pilgrim. You won't find philosophical arguments about char or hydration levels happening here. What you will find is a fairly dependable pie with thin crust that holds up, a good layer of cheese, and sauce that tastes like someone has been making it the same way for awhile. The slices fold without complaint and the toppings behave themselves. It's the sort of pizza you bring home on a Friday when everyone is tired and nobody wants to cook or a speech. The prices are kinder to your wallet than the famous spots nearby, and that matters. Not every meal needs to be a religious experience. Sometimes food just needs to feed five people without causing regret. The sandwiches and salads are solid citizens too. Nothing showy, just competent and filling. They even still do a nice version of Peppers and Eggs, which is a throwback I can appreciate. The dining area has a few old Formica tables that look like they have seen a few Little League celebrations, but not much regular use. You can eat there if you like, but this is a takeout joint through and through. In a world that rewards spectacle, Nonno Sal's rewards appetite and respects your budget. It knows its job and does it. It's definitely not a fancy place you'd want to dine in at, despite having a full menu of pizza and Italian dishes. We kept things simple by ordering a large plain cheese pizza and a chicken parmigiana sandwich. The pizza was slightly above average for a central NJ pizzeria, with decent sauce, cheese, and crust. It was a slightly thinner base and crust as compared to more doughy and thicker counterparts in the area. The chicken parm sandwich was similarly above average with decent ingredients. Everything was satisfying and on par for a good central NJ pizza experience. I'd rate my overall experience a solid 3.5/5, but happy to round up since the person working the counter was kind and thanked me when I went to pick up.
