After dropping car off early morning Master Automotive had diagnosed the issue, received the parts and replaced all the coils and spark plugs by mid afternoon. His service mechanic showed me the old sparkplugs and marveled that my Volvo made it as far as it did. The price quoted was reasonable, so I had him replace all the coils. I am an out-of-towner and was surprised by the honesty and the quick service before the start of a 3-day weekend, In addition, the shop is next to an Enterprise rental car, so we didn't miss out on any of our planned vacation activities. I have a 2016 Kia Soul with an A/C blowing warm. John told me up front that if I was lucky and the car took the older R134A refrigerant, that the cost would be pretty reasonable as the newer refrigerant was MUCH more expensive. My experience with Fredie was undoubtedly the worst experience I've ever had with a mechanic. Fredie kept our car for 7 months without ever giving an accurate timeline for completing the repair. He consistently missed his own deadlines and rarely communicated with updates when he said he would. He completely lost all our trust when we communicated with him and made plans to travel to Vegas specifically to pick up the car, and he still didn't have it ready when we were scheduled to arrive. He texted us the morning of our arrival date to let us know we wouldn't be able to pick it up. After this incredibly unprofessional and frustrating experience, our car still wasn't fully repaired. I deeply regret leaving our car in his hands and I would not recommend this shop to anyone looking for any significant car repair. It's not worth it. I've changed my opinion 180 degrees about Master Automotive, and can not recommend them any longer. I really do feel like these guys were scamming me. I should have quit using this mechanic after I brought my van in for a few maintenance items, and to check out my AC. I told John that the compressor was making a bit of a racket when I turned on my air conditioning. When I picked up my vehicle, all the shop had done was add almost two hundred dollars worth of freon. A month later, I had a catastrophic AC failure. Twenty-two hundred bucks worth. Kind of annoying, but I figured it's not their fault that I own a twenty-year-old van. At least I had a completely new AC system. I did ask John if they could knock off the cost of freon from the month before, seeing as I had told him the compressor sounded like it was dying. He claimed that one never can tell if a part was going bad. Even though I brought it there because I thought the AC compressor was sick. But, lazy me went back for more repairs. A few months later, check engine light. Needed an intake manifold gasket, and fuel injector seals. After the work was done, I smelled a bit of gasoline, and my garage smelled like gasoline as well. I figured it was from the work, solvent, and such. But over the next few months, it got worse and worse. Especially when I ran the heater. It was concerning enough that I wouldn't park in my garage until I could get back over to Master Automotive. I dropped it off and left it there for two days. John reported that he, and a few of his guys, had looked at it. They left it running for hours with the heater on, and no one could detect any gasoline odor. Or visually see signs of a fuel leak. I thought I was going crazy. But was relieved that my vehicle wasn't a spark away from burning to the ground. But, the smell only got worse over the next few days. I quit running the heater, and couldn't park it inside the garage because my whole house would wreak like raw gasoline. I found another mechanic, and when he opened the hood, he immediately said, "I see exactly what's wrong." The fuel injector seals were leaking and putting little puddles of gasoline on top of the intake. I'm a wheelchair user, and if my van had caught on fire there's a good chance I would have burned up with it. I have no idea why John would put my life at risk like that. Part of me wonders if it's more than sheer incompetence. I truly feel like he was trying to get me to not come back. I have no idea why, maybe he wasn't telling his boss that I sometimes paid half cash and half credit. I'll never know. If you use these guys, trust your gut if you feel that something shady is happening. I wish I would have trusted my intuition sooner. I just believed I was too knowledgeable to be suckered by a mechanic. read more

Not sure how this place gets any bad rep. Freddie and the team did two massive jobs for me that other places had messed up on. First, he took care of my power steering issue and timing chain replacement on my truck. Previously had brought it to Sun Auto in the Northwest area, who not only charged me up the ying-yang, didn't even bother to purge the air during the process. Brought it to Freddie and the rest was history. Truck has been running smooth for the last several months Second, had an small evap leak on my van that has been going on for a couple years. Brought it to another shop on the east side that used to service this van for other stuff. After replacing the gas cap and doing temporary fixes that would cause the check engine to come up a later, the mechanic said he doesn't know where the issue was coming from. Two years, in and out, and couldn't figure it out. I bring the van to Freddie and he finds it within an hour. Believe the work too since he performed a better job on the truck for the powersteering/timing chain previously. Everyone has their mechanic. This is my go to now. read more

Critical: Quality September 2018 my car smelled of gas. Brought my car into Master Tran. Said I needed new fuel pump. The work was completed. Fast forward to April 2020 fuel pump failed. Christian Brothers garage in Leander, Texas was chosen for the work. I was told by Christian Brothers that a cheap after market pump was used, one that they would never recommend. Furthermore instead of using a harness connector the wires were crimped together. An expensive mistake using this firm. Trusted these guys. read more

SCAM ALERT!!! Do not take your vehicle to get repaired here. They will try to price gouge and overcharge you. My husband took his vehicle in to get the AC looked at. They told him that the compressor needed to be replaced and it would cost around 1200. They changed that estimate later saying it would be somewhere between 1800 and 2000. He ended up taking it to the dealer who repaired it for 900. I have no respect or desire to do business with a company who tries to charge DOUBLE for repair prices. John , the manager is friendly which is good for a social event. I have taken two vehicles for repair at this facility and each time the final repair bill was more than expected. On either occasion I did not receive a written estimate, i believe this is a state requirement. The second time i took in a Ford van that would barely start and was sputtering. The shop had it from Thursday until Wednesday of the following week . I thought that this shop would have the equipment and experience to fix the van.$600+ dollars later i had to tow van home.You are supposed to tow vehicles to a garage not tow them home after paying for parts and labor that the mechanic thought would fix the problem. Initially my bill was $991 until i protested.I will never return as far as i am concerned the are incompetent and crooks. For $600+ they drained old gas and installed 6 spark plugs. I had heard about this business from our neighbors and highly recommended them. I went to get my our 2016 Honda CR-Vs transmission oil changed as well as the coolant. I met with John who was very cordial. I told him what I needed done. I asked for a ball park estimate and he quoted me $350. He texted about 2 hours later saying it was finished. Went to pick it and the total was $358.16. I've had numerous places I've had my cars worked on and I've asked for ball park estimates and this was the closest I've ever heard. They didn't charge me crazy fees for just bringing the car into the shop, they found the problems and were very upfront about the cost and they didn't try to sell me anything I didn't need or take advantage of my lack of knowledge about automotive repair!
