Bonnie and My Mechanic had my truck for 5 days for A/C repair and returned it in worse condition. After 5 days of futile attempts at repair, adding unneeded new parts daily , avoiding communication and creating charges of almost $5,000 dollars, Bonnie told me the A/C was repaired. She said "it's blowing 55 degree cold air" and is ready to go. It wasn't. When I complained, Bonnie was angry and defensive. She told me to return the truck for further repairs. FAT CHANCE! I took the truck to a Toyota dealer to diagnose the problem. The Service Manager informed me he had never seen such a terrible attempted repair. He stated that the mechanic was obviously incompetent and had no idea what he was doing. Among the problems noted were: blowing hot air incorrect parts missing washers, nuts, seals, insulation failure to remove critical new installation plug mixing new parts with contaminated old parts A/C compressor not properly wired compressor wiring too close to pulley misaligned pipes and tubes rubber seal at fire wall not properly secured A/C orifice not insulated The Toyota Service Manager suggested that I sell the truck "as is" or attempt to work out a trade with Toyota for another vehicle. I decided to have Toyota repair the A/C since the truck was in excellent condition otherwise. The Toyota repair cost was over $8,000 dollars. They had to remove all of the contaminated faulty parts installed by My Mechanic in addition to completely rebuilding the A/C system. Bonnie and My Mechanic have a serious problem with competence and truthfulness with clients. I was deceived for 5 days regarding the status of my truck repair. It appears that Bonnie and her band of stellar mechanics were unable to repair my truck's A/C system even though I gave them permission to replace the entire system. Apparently, instead of replacing the system with all new parts, they took short-cuts and mixed old contaminated parts with new parts. This resulted in them destroying the entire system. Bonnie and My Mechanic like to present themselves as proof that females can run a successful garage. Yes, there are many competent female owners and mechanics. However, Bonnie is not among them! P.S. Although My Mechanic charges high fees, they will smash your tail-light, scratch your paint and tear the rubber from your wipers for free. (see pics) Please avoid this garage. I drive a 2016 Chevy Silverado 1500 that needed it's transmission replaced, and My Mechanic made it an easy process! The process took about 4 and a half weeks from dropping the truck off to getting it back, but that was mainly due to the waiting period of the replacement parts to arrive, so that's not My Mechanic's fault. The Latin phrase comes to mind: "caveat emptor" (buyer beware) Quality (or lack thereof) of the mechanics expertise; my car and specific mechanical issue. POOR Quality (or lack thereof) of materials used for repairs; in my experience, my car: POOR. And when I had to have another repair shop 're-fix' the same problem , at an additional cost of $300.00 (on top of the $200 I had already paid My Mechanic to repair my car - at the new auto center they first showed me the "subpar" materials (aka: Non OEM quality) that My Mechanic Auto used; and/or didn't replace (in the first place). Again, "caveat emptor" (buyer beware) Quality of the NAPA and/or My Mechanic Auto Warranty; in my experience: my unique situation (at the time) etc. POOR. And after serval attempts (e-mails, phone chats etc.) over about a months time to have either NAPA and or My Mechanic honor all or part of their warranty; when all was said and done - and after NAPA kept saying it was up to My Mechanic and My Mechanic saying it was up to NAPA - nothing was done and when all the dust settled the owner (Bonnie) of My Mechanic told me, in writing (email), to just "chalk it up". Again, just "CHALK IT UP" (I.E. just write off the safety/road hazard issues caused when the car broke down, the financial loss, and the major inconvenience including the cost of spending 1 night in a motel while repairs were being made my the new shop) etc. "JUST CHALK IT UP"1 And the 'kicker' was that for all the road safety/hazards (occurred during road, driving break-down) plus the extra money I spent (motel, food etc.) including the $125 in towing charges (when we/car was stranded) and the additional repair cost of $300 (for the same job)/ Bonnie (the owner) didn't even apologize and/ or offer me (e.g.) a token discount on my next vehicle service. I appreciated the fact that they was fixing something somebody else started but they also did a half baked job. The car started to leak fluid so I took it into a mechanic. Come to find out when they did the repair they clamped then engine harness into the interior manifold which now resulted in me replacing both amongst other things. When if finished I was told I needed over 900 dollars worth of work with is impossible. Because the car was full serviced a few weeks back and it pass a smoke check a few months before as well is having a oil change and things were checked this place told me I need lots of work a gasket and so on. Went in for an oil change, they gave me a discount, tried to up-sell me on a bunch of stuff I didn't need, standard stuff. I was here on a road trip from cali, and decided to stop here for this oil change before going back. On my way back, my shield plate fell off and started dragging, which means they didnt replace it properly. I tried calling in to see if they could help me (at this point I was about 80miles out), and got no response, and no call-back from my voicemail. (Note: the shield plate was brand new, as I bought a replacement from another oil company doing the same thing, which destroyed my 1st plate). Fast-forward several months later, I returned later to see if they could just remove it, because at this point some screws were missing and it was being held up by tape. They discovered a crack in my oil tank (which was my fault, I bottomed out on a curb). They told me that I'd need to replace it, which would be an estimated $600 something. After calling around for a bit, every other place quoted me lower. I finally ended up finding a place that would just weld the tiny crack that was leaking oil (I know, not the best idea), which cost about $50. It's holding up fine so far. Anyway, overall, I feel like the initial job they did was rushed, and I also they feel like $$ is greater than customer satisfaction. Nice people, improper work. On 2/4/19, the MyMechanics shop on Maryland installed new brakes and rotors on my 2009 BMW 328i and performed approximately $2,000 in work including multiple sensor replacements to fix the check engine light. Prior to taking the car to MyMechanics, the car ran fine, no problems. The brakes were preventative maintenance and the sensor replacements were only to get rid of the check engine light in preparation for SMOG (8 months away). The car was fine, and it was a mistake to let MyMechanic on Maryland touch the vehicle. When installing the rear brakes and rotors, the mechanic improperly adjusted the brake to be too tight leading to catastrophic failure and stranding the driver with the brakes pads and bolts securing the brake pads crumbled as shown in the pictures. Rather than tighten the bolts etc pursuant to BMW torque guidelines, the mechanic used a pneumatic which improperly installed the bolts etc and the mechanic forced the rear pads on rather than adjusting the appropriate parts so that the parts fit together and within BMW specifications. Failure occurred on 2/16/19. Owner took vehicle back to MyMechanic on 2/16/19 BEFORE the catastrophic failure complaining of the check engine light being on (despite almost $2,000 in repairs to fix the check engine light and brakes), smell, and concern as to noise in the wheel. The mechanic turned off the check engine light, refused to state what codes the computer rad, and said there was nothing wrong. The night of 2/16/19 the rear brakes failed in a very dangerous and unsafe manner. AAA only covers the first 5 miles, so owner had to pay another $83 in order to tow the car to a safe location for inspection and repair. The shop owner refuses to refund the money for the rear brakes and ignores concerns regarding the check engine light. For your own safety, DO NOT USE THIS MECHANIC!!!!! I am out approximately $2,000, plus costs of additional repairs. Save your money and time! UPDATE: The repair mechanic provided the following information regarding the faulty repair job. "The front brakes were installed fine, except the fact that the lug studs were torques well beyond 180ft/lbs, my humble impact could not budge them, I needed to use a 36" bar that I stood on to remove them. The rear brakes had the same issue with the lug studs. Had to remove all but one with a 36" bar. Once the rear rotors were removed the disintegrated brakes fell out of their enclosure. The rear disk brakes have an integrated emergency brake which is a drum brake inside of the rear rotor. When the new rear rotors were installed that inside diameter of the "drum", which is integrated with the rotor, was a smaller diameter because of the lack of wear. In my opinion the rear rotors were installed without backing off or adjusting down the rear drum shoes because of the added material of the new rotors with the incorporated drum brakes. The catastrophic failure I believe was caused by the rear rotors would not fit correctly over the drum shoes so they were either forced on or literally beat on because of the fragmentation of the brake shoes. The pressure against the new rotor caused the emergency brake to be activated, or engaged, while the physical handle was down creating friction. This created very high heat in the rear rotors that was the most likely cause of the multiple fractures around the hub where it meets the rotor. This was the cause of the catastrophic failure of the brake shoes. This was noticed as a burning smell as the broken pieces of the shoe contacted the inside of the rotor, as well as generating a grinding noise that rendered the vehicle inoperable. I then replaced the rear shoes, rotors and pads, as i couldn't be sure the pads have not received heat past their tolerance. They did not appear damaged, but I was not going to take a chance. I also tightened all of the lug nuts, all four tires, to the proper 95 ft/lbs to not stretch my threads beyond spec. To be honest, they should be on the hook for 2 lug studs, well minus the two that were proper. Perhaps she may not understand the mechanics below have a lower competence then they claim to have. The fact a torque wrench isn't on our lug studs is downright dangerous and a disservice to the public." RESPONSE TO BONNIE: Your shop almost killed my husband through their faulty installation. I noticed my valve cover gasket was leaking oil and started smoking. I needed to get it fixed ASAP, so I called MYmechanic. They said bring it down and will have it done by the end of the day. I brought my truck in at 9:30am and to my surprise I received a phone call at 12:30pm to pick it up. It was done in three hours. They did a great job and replaced both gaskets for a good price also. I had visited this auto shop before for a minor problem and they took care of me and were super kind, so in December when I started hearing noises from my engine when I accelerated i wanted to give them my business again. I came in and let them know my problem, which they found that my axle needed to be replaced and that it could also be my transmission. After paying almost $500 for the axle to be replaced, the noise was still happening and they told me I needed to also replace the transmission. They seemed trustworthy so I almost proceeded to pay them $1900 to fix it but went to a transmission shop for a second opinion. I was surprised when the other shop told me that the problem was not my transmission, and that it was my engine (which I intuitively thought in the first place, but dont know enough about cars to be sure). I then took it to the dealership for a third opinion and found out it indeed was the fuel pump and timing chains inside my engine. Super bummed that I paid them $500 for a repair that might not have been necessary and almost paid them much more for a major repair that wouldn't have fixed my car. Definitely get second/third opinions before going with them! Update: They reached out to apologize and let me know that they did what they could to rectify the issue.
