Got a quote through Yelp, they were by far the most affordable for a move within the city. I communicated with the company over Yelp and they responded fast. The movers arrived exactly on time and we're extremely strong and efficient (they moved heavy furniture out my narrow door and up/down the 3 floor walk-up with ease), packing whatever I couldn't get to. Nothing broke or chipped through the move. Absolute blessings. A couple notes: - While they have efficient communication on Yelp, I didn't get a confirmation email or anything. And so even though I checked a bunch of times, I did kind of just have to hope the day of the move they would truly show up (spoiler: they did, and on time). If you're the worrier type (like me), it's not the ideal experience, but I wanted to assure you that they follow through. - The movers did not speak English, and I do not speak Chinese. Luckily, I had a friend helping me move that day who spoke and understood Chinese. If you are blessed with a friend who can translate, I would recommend asking them to tag along in advance just in case. - I would recommend asking for avenues of communication proactively, because they will likely not offer. For example, they had some trouble with finding the new address. It took a while for us to find the truck as we were in different vehicles, had to Yelp message the company to get their drivers numbers. We should have asked for their phone numbers before the truck moved. Would be 5 stars, but I had one concern. While the move-out process was extremely quick, the move-in process was a bit inefficient and slower than I liked (despite the new place having much wider hallways and an elevator too). I was worried they were doing it to stall since payment was hourly. We bought a couch that was too big for the stairway & they were persistent in finding a solution for it. With 3 guys, a pulley-system, and a fire escape - they were able to get the couch up and around, on top of the roof, down the fire escape, and through the door! The whole process took 1 HOUR! I used Master Lee Moving twice in the span of the past 3 weeks and their team was fantastic! Their rate was amazing for the work that they did and I couldn't be happier. For our specific move, they quoted us a flat rate (tip not included). They arrived on time with masks and were easy to communicate with via text. There is a bit of a language barrier, but their responses are immediate and you can 100% figure out what they're saying using context clues. Both the moves I hired them for included driving up and back between a location near Yosemite, CA and the Bay Area. If you've never been to Yosemite before, it requires a reliable truck, great breaks, and an expert driver. The highway to get to Yosemite sometimes only has one lane and it gets very dark, it's very curvy, and is quite steep (as in if you're not paying attention you'll fall off the side of the mountain and die). Master Lee Moving took apart larger pieces of furniture, packed them, and reassembled them on arrival. Our moves included a piano, several large TV's, glass desks, a huge marble table, and a few leather couches, and all were packed/wrapped/delivered/reassembled without any damage. For houses with carpet, they used a nice red tarp that they put down between the truck and wherever your furniture needed to be moved to so they wouldn't get our floors dirty. One of the moves included an apartment that was on the 3rd floor without an elevator and they moved everything using a dolly without issues. They also moved several pieces of larger furniture to a two-story home and didn't run into any issues there either. Long story short, hire them if you have a move! The two movers from Master Lee who helped me load up my U-Haul were ridiculously fast and helpful. Their skill with cling wrap was astounding, and they wrapped up all belongings I needed help moving in a quick 2-hour blitz. Price was really reasonable for the bay area too, if you're on a budget. I'd recommend having some bungee cords or rope to tie things to the sides of a truck if you're doing a similar operation (they kindly provided some to me as I did not have any, but they indicated this was not standard). Movers came late 1 hour and 10 mins. I booked two hours but the job was done around one hour and ten mins. I gave them tips for two hours and tips as the reference in an email saying. And yes they were a hole in the back of my mattress that happens while they moved but I did see it after they left. These guys are efficient! Recently had a one bedroom move to a place 30 min away and they were done in about 4 hours. Keep in mind I moved from a 2nd floor unit to a 3rd floor unit. With that said these guys they didn't complain at all about moving to to he 3rd floor and the current heat wave. In fact they were laughing about it. My stuff was also well take care of. Most of the larger furniture were wrapped and the boxes were stacked nice and tight to avoid tipping over. The only minor hiccup is that they use a translating app to communicate but that doesn't bother me at all since we should be accepting people for who they are. I referred 2 other people to them and they had the same experience. They are not professionals. While they were on time and delivered on time, their moving practices are not professional grade. They didn't wrap things properly. My beds backboard apparel had a large black oil stain. They damaged my new homes door frame and tried to blame it on me. They left some of my furniture improperly assembled so things were wobbly. If you can pay a little extra to go with a professional company then do it. Don't make the same mistake I made. I had really, really wanted to give Master Lee Moving five stars, and I had also selected Master Lee Moving as my mover in the hopes of counteracting some of the business impact of anti-Asian sentiment on Asian-owned businesses. Accordingly, this is not quite the review I had been hoping to write. However, I can still break down my experience into its component parts and give credit where credit is due as follows, though perhaps the most important takeaway from my experience is this: They are cash-only. -Pre-move communications: 5 stars! I can confirm that Master Lee Moving was incredibly responsive to my inquiry and subsequent questions, and as a stickler for detail, I tend to ask many more questions than the average person. I appreciated that they were prompt and thorough in their response, without a flicker of impatience with my questions. -Price point: 4 stars. Master Lee Moving gave one of the lowest quotes, and even with the "excellent" tip that I gave them (they gave me guidelines, and I gave them the highest tip they suggested), the per hour rate was competitive. That said, the actual move took one full hour more than the original estimate of three hours, even though I had already moved a cargo van's worth of stuff from my studio apartment ahead of the professional move with Master Lee Moving. This 33% increase is not insignificant, though the movers commented that my elevator was too small and ineffective and that it was the elevator that slowed them down, and I do agree that my old building had what felt like the oldest, most rickety elevator in the world. -Quality of move itself: 3 stars. I was slightly horrified to see the cavalierness with which they wrapped items together instead of padding them. For example, they tossed my mirror, an ottoman and my piano keyboard into a box and wrapped them together with no padding between them--just tape wrapped around them. For the most part, my belongings arrived unscathed. That said, some of my dishware was cracked by the time it made it to my new home, but I didn't discover this until after they left. Also, they somehow missed an entire shelf's worth of heavy items from my old apartment, which turned out to be quite a pain for me to pack and haul over on my own after the fact. -Professionalism of movers: 2 stars. The two-man crew who showed up to work did not speak English, but since I speak conversational Mandarin reasonably well, I thought we would be fine. As it turns out, only one really spoke Mandarin, and it was heavily accented, so it was hard to understand. This did not stop them from issuing directives at me loudly, oftentimes ones that I could not understand due to the language/accent difference. One hour in, I found myself sprinting up and down the stairs to help them open and close doors, wrap items as well as monitor the moving truck, which I realized they were leaving completely unsupervised as they moved. (Since I live in San Francisco, I was understandably concerned about the utter lack of supervision.) I hadn't realized that at time of hire that I myself would also be putting in a good couple of hours of manual labor myself during the move; I definitely got my steps in. Also, one of the men also used the bathroom in the apartment I was leaving, and he did not leave for a good while; I started worrying that he was sick. After he came out, my bathroom smelled foul for several hours afterwards. -Payment-related comms: 0 stars. Nowhere in any of our pre-move communications had Master Lee Moving indicated that I would have to pay in cash. This is also not clearly indicated on the website, e.g., on the home page or FAQs page. This is mentioned in the Yelp page but under the "specialties" section--and definitely not in a clear way since it reads (and I'm including their punctuation and spacing error here), "Fourth:Charging method. cash. check. Zelle online transfer?" Not sure what the question mark means. I had asked about whether they offered a cash discount, and the representative had said no, but they didn't specify that I could pay with only cash anyway. Of course, this turned out to be a major problem when, four hours in, the movers demanded the cash from me since I--like probably most of you--don't carry $500+ in cash in my wallet on a regular basis. Since I had been moving, I also had put my petty cash and my checkbook at a friend's house to keep them safe during the move. I had literally $30 on me. The movers asked me if I had a particular app (Alipay? again, I couldn't understand them because of their accent), which I did not. However, they eventually allowed me to Venmo my payment to someone they knew. This whole payment snafu cost us another 10 minutes when we were all tired and quite ready to go our separate ways, so ending on this note soured the experience. read more

The 2 workers/movers were great! They worked VERY hard & at a good pace. My lower rating is because I think the workers are over worked & under paid. They arrived late but that was only because they came from another job. The company should have sent at least 1 other worker for my move. I'm sure the job that the workers had done before mine was also a big job & it seemed that it was just the 2 of them doing that job as well. I say that because it seemed the workers were very tired & were 2 hours late for my move. That aside, they worked hard (7 hours) & completed the job. I commend both workers! However, everything went downhill during the actual moving. Two staff showed up, and they were doing their job as slow as they could. My 60 year old mother got pissed off at how slow they were doing their job, then started moving the furniture herself. And she moved the items faster than those "professional" movers. We had to treat them lunch before they actually start doing their job seriously. Oh welp, we were not only paying for their lunch, but also paying for the time they were eating it. It ended up taking almost 5 hours to complete the moving. The person managing Yelp messages suggested $9-$10 per person per hour. We tipped $120 for the two workers, which was more than the suggested tip amount of $100. You know what, the workers were not happy!!! They asked for $140. What the damn fxxk!?!?!? People did you remember how slow you were working in the first 1.5 hours before we treat you lunch? Did you remember who paid for your lunch?
