Two Friends Movers damaged both the building I moved into & my property. They owe me $750 to fix the garages they ran into when they put their truck inside the parking lot. I should have known things would not go well when the Supervisor did a No Show for my (confirmed appointment) walk-through to get an estimate for the packing and move. I was quoted $1500, I ended up paying $3500 after they went into double-overtime. Plus $80x4 for tips. (I didnt know about the overtime until the head mover pulled out a contract right as we were about to depart.) My move took 12 - TWELVE- hours. They were scheduled for 2:30, they came at 1. It took them 6 hours to move (& pack a kitchen & 2 rooms). Then another 6 hours to move everything to the new place where they finished at 12:30am. I paid for 2 "no parking" signs & reserved parking in front of the building as big trucks arent allowed in the parking lot due to old asphalt. I showed the head mover pictures & a map where to park. They snuck through the parking lot gates that had multiple"no trucks" signs up. They said they wouldn't be able to give me my stuff if they had to park anywhere else. I could get past the damage to my personal property - about $400 worth, but they wont respond to my requests for their insurance info to deal with the building damage. read more

Will let text you a day before for final confirmation. move day: on time and they pack everything securely. i had 3 guys and the lead is really great but the other two are really slow. I also started moving things my own with the help of my wagon and that is only time i feel they started stepping up and when I started to stop, i sense they intentionally tried to slow down again. Slow in terms of rather using a cart to move multiple boxes/stuffs, they will carry it one by one. I was in 2bd and moving to 3 bd and i normally timed it 4hrs the longest in they billed me for 5hrs and 30mins - not that i put timer and it was 20mins and yet, they still rounded to 30mins. I still gave $70 tip. I already tried moving 3x in Foster City area so i feel i know how my stuffs normally take and i buffered 4hrs work so my emphasized here is i sensed they intentionally prolong the move to bill me longer. If my previous movers (Frank's) is still in business, i would hire them for the 4x time and i feel really bad paying $$$ for too much for Two Friends moving. The guys arrived at 8am (on the dot!) and by 8:15 were expediently wrapping and packing. The movers were nice, co-vid safe (ie wearing masks and distancing inside), professional and very organized. I had a great experience with these folks. Lily was responsive over email and over the phone to get me scheduled with a move. I changed the date once or twice and she had no problem accommodating me. The day of the move, she called me to ask if I was ok moving the time up, as another job had canceled. That was fine with me and the movers showed up at 11:15am (we had agreed on 11am). They had my 1BR empty within 30 minutes, drove everything safely to the new spot, and had it all unloaded again in another 30 minutes. Moved from a 2 bedroom to a 2 bedroom (1 of the bedrooms was literally boxes no bed no furniture, a crib that was in the box still) and it was like 8 hours. My roommate hired Two Friends Movers to move a piano into our second-floor apartment and the movers were super nice, but moments after evaluating our front door and entry hallway, they were unable to even try moving the piano from the moving truck. We tried strategizing and they were super helpful, but nothing worked and they ended up just delivering the piano to one of the movers' homes - I'm glad it could go to good use since our hands were completely tied with the situation. The problem is that the company refuses to reimburse my roommate any of the $490 that was paid to have the piano delivered to someone else; she really spent half a grand with nothing to show for it. We spoke/coordinated with Lily, and I am just really shocked and irritated that my roommate paid an additional $100 for the piano to be moved up the flight of stairs, and Two Friends Movers won't reimburse her even for the $100 since obviously no stairs were involved. Lily actually said over the phone that since the piano could not be delivered to our apartment, my roommate should pay an *additional* $490 to remove the piano to the mover's home, trying to suggest that we were fortunate enough to owe them $490 for nothing. Seemed super lame and ridiculous. For future customers - just be aware that the company's protocol doesn't require them to ask for the measurements of the entry point, but you will be financially culpable for their oversight. Since we live in San Francisco, many of the apartments are structured unconventionally and I am surprised that they do not ensure in advance that they can actually deliver the item. Here is my experience with Two Friends Movers (with a 3-person crew) in August 2018: When the crew first arrived, one of the movers told us that the job wouldn't go over the 3-hour minimum. First, they did not bring a big enough truck and the movers themselves did NOT realize the truck cannot take all of our stuff until the truck was almost completely full. We were not given the option of taking 2 trips and the crew did not make sure all the large items made it on the truck, several large items were left behind, so after 6.5 hours and over $1000 on services by Two Friends Movers for a move that is less than 2 miles, we have to spend more money to rent another truck to complete the move. Second, we did most of the packing ourselves, but needed some help on the day of to finish up. Second, Two Friends Movers offers packing services, but after 6.5 hours, there're loose unpacked items in every single room of the house that we have to go back and collect. Third, my cushions were loaded onto the truck without any packaging or wrapping; one of the cushions got several noticeable machine oil stains on it after being handled by the movers and being in the truck. I messaged Two Friends Movers in regards to the issues above, they responded with "When are you available that we can stop by at your house". When I asked them the purpose of the visit, they never responded, it has been over a week. read more

A woman who wanted the piano I was giving away via nextdoor.com lined up Two Friends Movers to move the piano out of my house in San Jose, down 6 steps to ground level, and over to her house. The time all three of us agreed to was 4:30 this afternoon. At 4:30, the woman contacted me to say she'd heard from the Two Friends' driver; he was just leaving SF (during rush hour traffic, no less!) and hence, would be an hour late. At 5:45, I phoned him to ask how much longer it would be; he didn't answer. Then I heard from the piano recipient that she had heard from the driver--it was going to be around 7:00 when they arrived at my house. She asked the driver to phone me, which he did. When I expressed my dismay that they were now planning to be 2.5 hours late, the driver said he was canceling the entire move. Methinks Two Friends Movers needs to give clients a WINDOW, not an APPOINTMENT. Their expectation that customers have nothing better to do than to sit around waiting for them to appear, possibly hours later than the scheduled time, is unrealistic and unprofessional. read more

Though did not purchase their services, from an extremely positive experience I would consider them at the top of my list for a local move. - They had asked for my contact information prior to the move date, confirmed an exact arrival time, and called me in advance to let me know they arrived. - They came about 10 minutes early so I didn't have to wait for them. - They were super friendly and very professional. - They took great care in wrapping the armoire and in carrying and securing it to their vehicle. - They're strong dudes and left me feeling confident that neither they nor the furniture would be injured. I had a really good experience with this company. I was in a pinch and needed my office furniture moved out and I only had one day. Surprisingly, with Less than 24 hours of notice, these guys were able to meet me at my office (they got there early) clear out my office, and haul all the stuff back to my home which was about an hour away. This company is slightly on the expensive side. When I compared them they were atleast 20% more expensive than the next competitor but I would say that they do justify most of the premium. I booked them about two weeks in advance and the customer service rep Lily was very very responsive and courteous. She was very patient explaining me all the details despite me being a first timer in moving houses with in the bay area or even in the United States. She was very communicative on the schedule for the movers and called me a day before as planned to confirm the move. She was also very responsive on text. The movers were also very polite and very very hard-working. They bagged everything very well and made sure that there were no scratches on the floor or carpet by placing cloth all the way onto the stairs where the carpet were recently shampooed. Very professional and they left no trash behind. I would strongly recommend them if you don't wanna take any chances by calling any random company first time. They were also not haggling for tips and made sure that they courteously accepted whatever we gave them. Our destination apartment had two floors and there were no complaints by the movers. We hired Two Friends to pack a 3 bed/2 bath/living/dining/family/garage/outdoors for our move from SF Peninsula to Portland. We had our own Penske 26 foot rental truck. Lily and Jorge were super nice to work with. The crew worked hard and were professional and polite. The truck was packed full with more than we could imagine it would hold. They told us at the beginning not everything would fit - but they did their best. They used a lot of moving blankets, wrapping plastic and tape which are added to the bill as materials. We were okay with it as we read so many moving reviews where things were damaged. Just ask about the extra cost in advance so you are not surprised. Nothing was damaged on our move. When you need a moving service, I'm happy to recommend "Two Friends Movers" (even though they were three :-) This was my experience: -I called them two weeks in advance asking for a quote, Santos told me to reserve the service at least one week before the moving date. ($129/hour) - A week later I called to reserve my moving service. - The day before Santos called me to confirm, he said between 12-2pm, so I made arrangements to be available by noon. - Moving's day, noonish: Santos called me he was ready, I was ready too. - Santos has a big truck, he and his crew were able to put my furniture of three bedrooms and living room. (these guys are strong!) - For wrapping my two pianos, he charged me $35 for the plastic. - Ready to go I followed his truck until our destination, he was driving carefully. - In four hours they got the furniture from the old place to the new one. - Santos and his crew were always asking me where to put everything and if I need help re-locating the furniture. - The price was affordable for lifting heavy furniture in a three level townhouse. Unfortunately having to sit down and write this review after being absolutely ripped off by this moving company. My roommate paid to have a piano moved from a ground floor apartment to a second floor apartment. She was quoted $390 for the move itself, and then an additional $100 for having to carry the piano up the stairs. The movers arrived, all of which were very kind. They measured the doorway and said the piano would not fit into the entrance of the apartment. They did their due diligence to try and make it work, but after my roommate spoke to Lily on the phone, she was informed that she would not receive any of her money back for the move. Keep in mind, throughout this entire interaction, the piano had not left the truck. I can understand needing to pay the $390 since the piano was moved from the initial apartment, but it's absolutely unethical and ridiculous that we are being charged for moving a piano up a flight of stairs, when in actuality it never left the truck. It's San Francisco, hallways, entrances, and stairwells are steep and narrow, surely this issue has come up before. Why wasn't there confirmation the piano measurements would fit into the apartment before the move was done, or before you charged a person half a grand to hold a piano in a truck? I've called both the supervisor and the person who handled the move with no answer, and have yet to receive a response. read more

My wife found an antique player piano (very heavy BTW). The challenge: we had less than a week to move it from a house being sold. I tried calling several piano movers and of those that called me back, most said they were booked for at least 2 weeks or would not move up/down stairs. I called Two Friends and they responded immidiately and said they could move the piano in my timeframe. They showed up on time two days later with 3 guys, but we determined that the piano would not fit up the stairs, so we would have to go out a slider onto downstairs deck overlooking a very steep slope. They came back the next day with 7 guys and muscled the piano out, across the deck to a narrow pitched path, and then up a very narrow and steep outside set of steps. They were extremely careful, conscientious, avoided any damage, and completed the whole move in an afternoon. Their communication by phone and text was outstanding! I used the movers last saturday. Experience was great. They were on the dot on time in the morning. They arrived with the truck (which was sooooo much easier than renting a UHaul). They were very polite and started working right away. They were also super careful with all my belongings both loading and unloading. They used furniture covers they had with them to make sure nothing was damaged. Also they worked in a very good pace. They was no taking breaks and trying to ride the clock since they get paid by the hour. All in all perfect experience. It took them 14 hrs to move 3 bedroom house that a single person lived in. They were slow, meticulous & careful, but you paid for it. They charged me for the lunch-break as well and I ended up paying $2000+ for this service...shocking! Discovered recently that they didn't even construct the bed properly and the slats came lose.
