Don't beg your friends to come over and move your furniture. Something could get broken and someone could get hurt. Certainly don't bother your friends when there is a service like mastermind movers that will do the job for you and do it right. Eddie and his crew get my full 5 Star recommendation. These guys were careful and efficient. They came to my home on time and did exactly what was needed. We were getting new carpet installed in three rooms and we needed all of the furniture moved off the carpet and into another room. After the carpet was installed Eddie and team returned promptly as planned and moved everything back exactly how it was. He even remembered where each of the pieces of furniture should go. Slick Eddy here used massive amounts of furniture pads. He didn't tell us the total until everything was packed up and then said we owed him hundreds for a few furniture pads for one week and requested it in cash. Don't accept any extra people, equipment, or service from these guys unless you get the total beforehand. I know this already, but stupidly assumed basic human decency in the rush to get packed up and moved. The guys also moved our TV console without properly packing it. I told them to leave it alone because I needed to empty it. Not only did they move it anyway, but they flipped it with a Wii, Ipad, and PS4 inside. Luckily nothing broke, but the Ipad and Wii controller were both a bit scratched up. We have a lot of cameras, and saw poor handling and wild uncoordinated taping which led to the bottom falling out of some boxes. I will say they worked fast, but if you have fragile or expensive things I wouldn't let them touch it. read more

This company took my money and didn't complete the job. They brought my stuff from storage and hired a group of young guys with no moving experience to unload and assemble my furniture which I had no clue was being done. The owner and his wife rush to get my items off the truck and when I went back downstairs they were gone. The men they had do my job broke a $999 chest, didn't put any of my furniture together and took breaks all day. When I contacted the company the wife said they would replace my chest and I also sent my purchase receipt and pictures. I was calling all day and night because nothing was assembled. They never answered!! Do not hire because they are not honest and will take your money! They did this because I don't like in Utah I live in Vegas! Mastermind Movers. These are the people that should never be trusted with anyone's belongings ever again. Eddie made great promises. He was engaging when I was in a bind and needed to move quickly. He and his crew showed up a little late but went to work. We were a tough case. we had a lot packed and a lot needing to be packed. I was told they would wrap furniture and some art we had. They hurried for us because we were trying to leave ASAP to get to Ohio. I was told they had to put my things in storage to get a bigger truck to move it all. I felt Eddie had things in hand. He didn't. We got to Ohio on October 31. Our things were supposed to arrive just 2 days later, November 2. That didn't happen. I was told the truck rental prices had gone up. I was okay with a two week wait. That turned into over 3 months of waiting. I'd contact them but unless I was very persistent, they wouldn't respond. To his credit, when we did speak, Eddie seemed apologetic. But I noticed he didn't take responsibility as he would blame things on his employees or other situations that had nothing to do with us. He charged us $5500 for the move to Ohio. This was to include wrapping furniture and appliances, dismantling furniture as needed, moving our belongs to Ohio, and unloading them here. The only thing that was wrapped was our TV. The disassembly of some of our furniture destroyed them as they were obviously knocked apart. One piece of art, a large board and paper portrait never got wrapped so it was destroyed. Boxes have obvious footprints where people had stepped on them. Boxes clearly marked fragile had heavy boxes on top. Huge boxes were crushed. Things inside boxes were broken from other loose items thrown on top that pierced them. Oh, you could see at the forward part on the load, where perhaps Eddie was helping or supervising, things were in better condition. But not so much as they obviously went along. When we unloaded the truck because Eddie claimed it was hard to find a FAX to get paperwork to a local day help agency. He did that on the one day we had to unload when he should have set that up in advance. I mentioned to him in a call I'd also see about getting some neighbors to help but that was a last resort. I think he took it as he didn't have to do a thing or pay anyone else really. I unloaded our things by myself because the next day called for snow and the driver had to get the truck back to Utah. I tried calling and I sent pictures and descriptions to Eddie of the damage. I had worked with him for literal months to get our things here. I suggested ideas to get them here. Eddie was good at seeming like he cared. It seems he didn't. Because when I saw how much damage and the disregard shown to our belongings, I demanded half my money back. No reply. Not a word. No apology. No remorse. No compromise on compensation for the length of time and damages. We had to buy items we already had to just get by because virtually all of our things sat in a warehouse in Utah for over three months and now we were going to need to replace things too. Do NOT trust this company or this man. Next up I'll be sending a report to several legal and business agencies in Utah, the BBB, and report FB that this business is acting in a fraudulent manner. "Buyer beware" is victim blaming. No one deserves to be treated this poorly by a business they have paid good money and put trust into. Shame on you Eddie Lewis. Shame on you. Don't try to deny this. This was years ago (2013) but it still makes me sad and I felt I needed to still post my review. Our move we were not prepared for I have to admit. But my husband and I had left our wedding rings on the counter in the bathroom to put back on after dealing with the boxes. Everyone was nice and a good sport - but after they left and we settled down- we went to go get our rings- no longer there. After a bit We held out hope that maybe they packed them for us..... I know it is silly to hope that but we did.... Still no rings. My husband actually teared up when he realized that night after packing that our rings were gone. These guys were SO great!!!! They really hustled the entire time and got our little pod unloaded in an hour. But I liked that they charged by the pod so I wasn't ever stressed about how long it took. They checked box labels and put everything in the right room and were so careful about not dinging walls or furniture. And they were both so polite and cheerful and generous on the phone and in person. They even helped move a couple of mattresses and a washer and dryer, just to be nice. This company is TERRIBLE, I didn't pay, but I was helping a buddy... But they took the money and NEVER rendered service. They stopped returning calls, texts, all communication after they NO SHOWED. Good racket for a scam company... Making at least $1000 every job and not actually providing a service... Good luck to anyone who's only reading the tip few reviews with more than 3 stars. I have done business with Eddie Lewis and his moving company Mastermind Movers and found his business ethic to be unprofessional and dishonest. He doesn't pay his bills. A contractual agreement means nothing to him once he gets what he wants out of you. He doesn't keep his word and hasn't renewed his business with the State of Utah as of the date of this review (12/06/2017). Buyer beware. read more

We were told that they would place cardboard or blankets on the white carpets when moving things into the house. When reminded of this, the "professional" mover became quite aggressive in his tone in telling my wife that it would cause a trip hazard, and so he would not do what had been promised, and if we insisted that they do so he would drop all of our belongings on the driveway and leave. When trying to reassemble the bed, he first placed the rails upside down, then inside out, then finally the right direction, but did not tighten them enough, and so the bed was extremely wobbly. He also failed to put the legs on the cross pieces, and finally realized that he could not reach them, and so had to go back and do it again. Much more frustrating, however, was the fact that he had backed the screws out enough for the cross pieces to be removed, but then left the screws hanging out, and so the vast majority of them were lost (about 13 were lost). As I am sure you are aware, furniture screws are often proprietary, and so trips to Home Depot, Lowes and even a specialty store (Tacoma Screw Products) did not give us the same screws to match those that had been lost, which left us sleeping on the floor! Many other things were not put back together, including the barrister bookcase, the stereo and the executive desk. The packing of the truck was done so poorly that three boxes of books fell and broke open, and were subsequently dumped out onto the floor of our garage. They promised to wrap the large big screen tv when they got it in the truck, but did NOT do so! They also did not wrap the large reflector telescope (approximately $1000), and so screws were jarred loose and may have been lost! The legs of the coffin freezer were damaged by these "professional" movers, and were severely bent. The plug on the upright freezer was severely damaged, with the prongs being smashed completely flat. The function of the pedals on the piano seems to have been damaged - their ability to move the piano professionally was deeply questionable. Extremely unprofessional! His crew carelessly broke a precious antique lamp, and did not take accountability for it. Although they brought the packing blankets, they did not have any tape or giant rubber bands to hold the blankets to the furniture, and so used multiple rolls of our tape to do the promised packing. Fortunately, almost all of our belongings were carefully packed prior to their arrival, as they were extremely inefficient in packing the few items that were left. On the day of the move we were told that Eddie wanted to make delivery that same night so that he could use the trucks for another move on Saturday. This caused significant (additional) inconvenience to us, but for their convenience and additional profit, we finished as quickly as we could and drove late into the night to enable this change in our agreement. That we were required to pay the balance before they would unload was also a surprise that they sprung on us the day of the move, and was startling given the circumstances. What occurred at the drop-off was absolutely intolerable in so very many respects. We were promised that our belongings would be placed where we asked. In a majority of cases, our belonging were not placed as asked, even after multiple requests. It became almost comical (if not so frustrating and in such clear violation of our agreement) to see how the movers would place things almost anywhere but where we asked (Jerome was the one exception - he did place things as asked, Greg was the worst offender - he seemed almost defiant/belligerent in placing things other than where we asked time and time again). Belongings clearly marked as "Fragile" were sometimes dropped upside down in a haphazard manner. When asked to place boxes back on the shelves, as per our agreement, the "professional" mover screamed at my wife in an extremely loud, angry and violent tone of voice that he was supposed to be home already and that he needed to feed his dogs, etc. This extremely disrespectful behavior was because she was asking him to perform according to agreement and was an egregious act which was completely indefensible. Paying "professional" movers to perform a service, only to have them speak so disrespectfully to us (the "professional" mover also made a loud disparaging remark about our new home with my wife present) does NOT reflect well on this company. I have pictures of the dozens of boxes that were NOT placed on the shelves, as had been promised. My wife looked into the back of the truck, and saw our belongings scattered across the floor of the bobtail in a haphazard and completely unprofessional manner. We wonder how many of our belongings got lost in the packing blankets and other rubble in the back of the trucks. read more

Eddie at Mastermind Movers is a fantastic worker; fast and efficient. He is always unfailingly polite. He moved me several times around SLC valley in 2012. Then he helped pack both an apartment and an art studio for my move up to Seattle at the end of 2012 and again for a second trip late January 2013. He just really got things done even though the weather was terrible and his workload backed up due to multiple snow storms. Do not use this company. My boyfriend hired them two weeks in advance for an out of state move and they did not complete the job. My boyfriend confirmed with them the day before the move and morning of the move on 4/22 that they would be able to manage the agreed upon 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. window still. They confirmed they would still be there. When requesting an eta during the window, they stated they could not get in touch with the drivers and became evasive in responding. 1 p.m. rolled around and they stated they would not be able to get to him until the next day. When my boyfriend explained that would not work due to needing to be out of his apartment based on the lease ending and needing to get on the road, the company went completely silent about returning his money. As of this posting, they have not responded to him or returned his money. We are following up with the better business bureau and law enforcement in Salt Lake City to take legal action until the money is returned. It appears that the company has blocked my boyfriend on Venmo. read more

MASTERMIND MOVERS, aka THE MOVERS FROM HELL. This company and its owner, Eddie, are the worst movers, and don't care how much damage they do to your furniture, doors, walls, collectibles, etc. I've moved 14 times in my life, and also sell online and have shipped breakables since 2005. So I KNOW how to pack breakables and valuables. Yet, boxes that contained 100+ year old collectible and rare plates that were worth $100+ each were packed well enough they could have survived shipping to any destination in the world and back were broken, in pieces! This particular box was also marked Very Fragile, and when I found the box it was upside down and crushed. In fact almost every box marked fragile had something broken and I honestly believe they took that as a challenge to PURPOSELY BREAK THE CONTENTS. Of course Eddie refused to take responsibility for any damage that was done. It was my fault - I must not have packed the items well enough...maybe not well enough for a throw, toss, and drop game, but for QUALIFIED movers all items were packed and wrapped like precious babies. Then there's the broken and/or scratched furniture! End tables, nesting tables, a NEW patio table. The list goes on and on. Our red leather reclining couch and love seat is so scratched and damaged that it's beyond comprehension that ANY company could be this BAD!! Not only that, but they dented the wall and left streaks of red paint imbedded in the wall. They also did the same thing with another piece of furniture! The leather set was very expensive and needs extensive repairs to the leather, if it can even be repaired. They also broke pieces off of our very expensive Sleep Number Split Adjustable Bed, leaving the pieces on our bedroom floor without saying one word about the damage. Watching them load items like a bad movie involving the Keystone Cops, I began pulling mirrors, valuable artwork, French confit pots, and other fragile items into corners and taping off the areas as 'No Touch Zones'. I'm so glad I did as I can imagine how much worse the damage could have been. Next is the damage they did to my new home. The front door and molding have gouges in the wood where they tried to force a refrigerator through the door because they were too lazy to remove the door first! Eddie did step in on this disaster and have them remove the door, but the damage was done - There are also large gouges in the walls and basement doors and casings. Eddie promised that one of his main guys, Robert, would come back the following day and fix the damage. He never showed up. He even left behind a dolly "in good faith" to show us that they were men of their word. Their word, at least one of them, is DISHONEST! I've also discovered my two concrete Greyhound dog statues, worth approximately $300 each are MISSING. I can only assume that they were STOLEN by Mastermind Movers. They are large enough to immediately know that they're gone, and I wonder how many other items that aren't as easily visible as large statues may also be stolen. This company from Hell also took 3 days to move us 6 miles! Why? Because they kept pulling their workers to leave and go on to other jobs. They left us high and dry two days in a row with the promise that they would finish up the following day. So three days and (if we're including the damaged leather sofa and love seat and missing dog statues) THOUSANDS of dollars in damage, incompetence, lackadaisical attitudes, dishonesty, and thievery: That's what Eddie and Mastermind Movers are all about. I've seen other bad reviews regarding this company, Mastermind Movers, and Eddie always comes back with snarky comments, as any guilty and unprofessional person will do. I'll tell you one thing Eddie. At first I thought you were a good guy and it was your workers who were to blame, as they became very lazy and careless when your back was turned. But, since you didn't make good on your promises to repair our doors and walls, and because there are items, such as the dog statues missing, you are just as responsible. In fact you are the MOST responsible because it is your company. Every decent review of your company that I've read makes me think the majority of them are fake reviews because your incompetence is really quite staggering and really sad. Every bad review reminds me of my own experience with your company. The details of our horror stories are so similar. You should be ashamed of yourself. Do you realize how successful you COULD be if you were competent? Why wouldn't you strive for that? Instead, your company is the antithesis of success. Worse is that you don't even care. Bad enough is good enough for you...I really feel sorry for you. So if you want to throw some snarky comments my way, have at it. I will gladly take all the slings and arrows you throw at me because BOTH OF US know the real truth about your business ethics, don't we?! So frustrated!! So angry! I'll NEVER use them again. We paid for a move for 3 hours and it took 4 because one of the movers decided to spend his time on his phone and I have pictures to prove it! One of the movers busted it out and did a great job, but I'm not paying so much to have ONE mover do the work. The mover kept getting on his phone and I'm so angry. We called Hire a Helper and Eddie and his helper came to unload. We had many items that we needed moved into a common location. Eddie was very friendly but I was concerned that it seemed that he and his helper were not working as efficient as I had expected, and because of this they went over the time and we had to pay additional. He was on his phone a lot also. They weren't as careful as I would have hoped, a few plastic bins were broken and some items, fortunately nothing of value. They also took a "5 minute" break which actually was more like 10 minutes. If the time had been over 4 hours, then a break would be ok, but for a 2 hour job (actually 2.75 hours), it didn't seem we should be paying for a smoke break. I'm glad we had someone to help, but compared to previous experiences with movers, this time wasn't up to par. read more

We used Mastermind Movers in May of 2018. We found them via Hire-A Helper-. Eddie and his team arrived on time and did an excellent job for us. They unloaded our Pod in record time. Nothing was broken and they were so accommodating. I asked for 2 helpers for 4 hours but Eddie brought a third guy that he was training. Because they unloaded every thing so quickly and in only 2.5 hours. I didn't have to pay anything extra for the 3rd man. I gave these guys a good tip and told them I would use them again when we bought a home. Well, we have bought a home and Eddie and his crew will be my movers one week from today. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! I contracted a move with this company for relocation to California. Yes, my items were packed, yes they showed up on time. Enroute to California there was an accident and our goods were damaged. The driver lied to the California Highway Patrol and stated they were moving a friend. My name or the moving company's name was NOT given for the report. Mastermind Movers called U-haul and started an insurance claim. The company stated that the items belonged to the driver of the vehicle. My name was NOT listed, nor was the moving company. It has been two weeks since we have seen delivery of our household items. Phone calls not returned, emails not returned. A company that practices business such as this should not be in business. Period. Now, I have to go through insurance claims agents that want photos of damaged goods that I cannot provide. This is due to Mastermind not working with insurance adjusters. We understand that accidents happen. What we do not understand nor will allow is crooked businesses to take advantage of people. Both agencies recommended legal action, which is what we will be taking. This review may be deleted, but it will be posted on YELP where you cannot delete reviews. Just got done clearing out my mom's house, and am in the process of selling. I needed to get the last of mom's things out FAST, but wanted to do it economically, because I had already spent a lot on the process. It was a local move, and I read that small local outfits were more economical to use than the big chains. I did a Google Search, then a Yelp search, and Mastermind immediately texted me a picture of a flier with their information. On Mon., I called and found they offered a very good price. I booked them and they were there on time as arranged, the next day. The owner, Eddie Lewis, came with 2 helpers. Dion, one of his helpers, was a sweet, polite, thoughtful and hard working young man. Eddie was great too, they worked very quickly and a carefully, they loaded up and followed me to my house. Some items were missed, so they returned the next day. I was happy with their work and with their pricing, and would use them again if I need. Moreover I would recommend them to anyone looking for an economical way to move. This is a small local company, and if you need to move in-state, and not get gouged, Eddie at Mastermind, is the one to use. I just wish I had found them last year, when I first started to clean out mom's house. read more
