Once again Mastertech saves the day! Better to say they saved my nieces vacation; while visiting from out of state the clutch in the car she was driving went out and she limped into Oceanside with it. I called Nate at Mastertech on Monday at 8am and he said to bring it in; we got it towed there and made them aware that we needed the clutch fixed asap as my niece had a hotel booked for the next day in NorCal. They fixed the clutch and made her aware of some other issues that could be fixed later and got her car back to her on Monday afternoon! She made it to NorCal with no further problems!! We take all of our vehicles to Mastertech even the ones still under warranty with the dealer, they do great work are honest and are priced fairly and Nate is wonderful! July 2018- I can't begin to estimate the amount of time, frustration and potentially thousands of dollars Mastertech has saved us in our current used car purchase? We were ready to make a purchase today and when I called to ask about getting the vehicle in for a AAA pre-purchase vehicle check up Nate from Mastertech made me aware of the recall on the engine of the car we were considering!! Be prepared to spend much more than necessary. Several sources (including two brake manufacturers), confirmed that I only needed my brake rotors turned with an on-vehicle lathe to correct my trucks problem. When I arrived for my appointment, before my truck was even looked at, I was told that the "real" problem was that I had inferior parts in my braking system.? I questioned how he could know that and I was told that if I leave my truck there, I need to agree to pay for replacement of ALL parts that they deem are not of the very highest quality that can be found! When I said I was uncomfortable with that, I was literally told... "here, its our way or the highway, we're not hurting for work." Exact quote! This is not a very professional attitude to say the least. Pep Boys said that they were happy to use the on-vehicle lathe without replacing additional parts. read more

I didn't make it to Mastertech. My car was smoking and I suspected it was a leaky lower radiator hose (not the first time I've had a similar problem). I called to get a quote and they said because they had to do a full diagnostic, the price would be $215-$230. Considering a nearby auto shop quoted a price of $55 for the exact same problem, I went with them instead (and the problem turned out to be not a leaky lower radiator hose, but a leaky heater hose, so it ended up costing $48, not $55). Their service may be good, but the quote was so astoundingly high I didn't give them a chance. read more

RM I had my transmission rebuilt at Mastertech 32 months ago. It came with a 2 year warranty. The vacuum modulator seal started leaking because I only drove the truck 1168 miles and the seal dried up. Mastertec fixed the seal without charge. They could have claimed "Out of warranty" but did not, just advised me to drive the truck more often. In this age of rip off auto repair shops, Nate and Mastertech are diamonds in a mud hole. I recommend them highly . read more

I hate going to the mechanic. I've owned my Honda for 10 years and my Ram 2500 for 6 years and have done all the routine maintenance and repairs myself (radiators, timing belts, water pumps, alternators, suspension, etc.). I took my truck in for an oil leak I didn't have time to trouble-shoot and fix. Turned out to be an inner timing cover seal (very big job). I was fine with that. They did find an associated issue with my camshaft alignment causing an error code. THEY FIXED THIS FOR FREE AFTER THEY HAD ALREADY FINISHED THE OIL LEAK! They could have easily charged me a huge amount to fix this but felt the right thing to do was not to double-charge me, but get me back on the road. Thanks Nate and team for being stand-up and trouble-shooting a problem that was very difficult to diagnose. If I ever need to bring my vehicles in again it will be at Mastertech. read more

Where do I even begin; Nate was hands down the BEST man I've ever had the pleasure of working with. I hate when mechanics try to sell you EVERY little thing that your car doesn't need for years down the line, Mastertech doesn't do that. Rick and Lou are consummate professionals. I had hired them to help with a brake swap in 2015 from drum to disc and they exceeded all expectations. I returned to them in 2020 when I had run out of capacity to swap out my front springs and again, they exceeded all expectations. I brought my F250 in because it was blowing white smoke After their diagnostic they said I had a blown head gasket and it was going to cost $10000.I proceeded to take it to another place They did a diagnostic test on it and it came back my EGR System was cracked The guys here did not know what they're doing the service writer Nathan got very upset with me because I wasn't paying $10000 to have them fix something that wasn't wrong with it I would never take another vehicle back here very rude when you're not dishing out a buttload of money.They should send their mechanics back Back to school and learn how to diagnose something and just don't assume because they don't know what they're doing. read more

I met Nate about three or four years ago when my car just stopped in the middle of the street. Turns out it was out of gas even though the gas light wasn't on. He didn't charge me anything to diagnosis this some what embarrassing car issue and he has been my mechanic even since. He's sincere, honest and does not try and push any unnecessary repairs. Funny thing, after reading the heater review I just had to tell you about my experience...a similar problem, however, a completely different outcome. My heater wasn't working so after speaking with them on the phone and trying to get some answers they convinced me to bring the car in and told me I would need to leave it with them for 3-4 hours. I took my car in to Mastertech on a Thursday afternoon. I waited until noon on Friday and started calling to find out what the problem might be. After several phone calls and broken "I'll call you back" promises, I was told the coolant was low so there was air in the cooling system. They bled the cooling system and added 1.5 gallons of coolant. The heater was working fine now. They charged me over $100 to add coolant. Five days later, I noticed the heater wasn't working again, so I took it to my regular mechanic and he tells me the radiator is cracked. I call Mastertech and explain the situation and they tell me it is going to cost over $500 to repair. When I asked if that included the $100 credit for the money I paid them to "repair" it the first time, they told me it wasn't leaking then and that the mechanic had pressurized it, yet nowhere in the very detailed invoice that I paid does it say they pressurized the system to check for any leaks. My regular mechanic charged me $375 for the repair, nearly a $200 difference. Bottom line, Mastertech failed to stand behind their work or lack there of. For a AAA approved repair center, I would be wary. read more

Just like 5 Stars says: Woohoo! As good as it gets! I've had this car for about 2 1/2 years, and it was running really ruff. These guys put this car together like it has never ran before. I'll not take my car anywhere else! The final price was lower than the estimate. The work was done a day earlier than we thought. I was given a ride home and a ride to pick up. These are real mechanics. Not the guys that just replace the part and charge you for it and that part wasn't the one needed, and then they guess and guess again. Awesome service, great hospitality. Took my jeep in for multiple codes on the engine. Diagnosed one of them (spark plugs) and replaced them had it running better than when i first got it. Ran the test for the other code which was for a gross leak but everything was checking out fine so they didnt charge me for that. Got a great discount too. Really wish i could take these guys to jacksonville with me for any other problems i know ill encounter with my jeep. I called them to get an estimate for a fuel pump (had got a diagnostic else where) since they seemed to be a place that would do a good job but the guy said he wouldn't even bother helping me since my car was not in the shop. I drive a 94 jeep wrangler and these guys have given it the TLC that I was unable to do. I love them. They are so nice and polite. My Mom goes there to and she has nothing but great things to say about them as well. They are always up front with you about what is going on. I was looking for a place to get my smog & emissions cert. and I saw this place on Yelp! while I was out getting my oil changed. I walked in and was greeted and helped by Rick. He was super awesome and completely understanding about my out of state registration requirements. I had to wait for about an hr.. But considering it was a Friday and I saw all of the cars outside, I didn't consider it unreasonable at all.. Plus the customer service I got totally made up for the wait time. Need an honest mechanic with an awesome staff? Look no further. I had a nightmarish electrical problem on a newer car and these guys knocked it out of the park with their customer service and quality of their work. They initially replaced the ECM only to have another electrical problem come up soon after. They spent hours and hours of diagnostic time chasing a problem on their own dime AND reimbursed me for my rental car during the time period the car was in the shop. Nate definitely know his stuff and was amazing at keeping me in the loop on what was going on, enduring my constant phone calls bugging them (I'm not the most patient person in the world). I've been taking my Chevrolet Malibu to Mastertech since around 2006. Overall going here each time my car breaks down is way cheaper than getting a new car (not to count the added reg & insurance costs). At this point I never even give it a second thought bringing it here for repairs over the dealer. Nate (a fellow devil dog) is very personable and always gives me some type of discount. But more importantly, I don't have to worry about my car being in good hands when I take it in, I know I'll be taken care of. I've used their after hours drop box and walked it in as well, so feel free to bring your car in day or night. I will never return to Mastertech with my car. I had to get a simple headlight switch on my car replaced and they knew exactly what to do and how to do it, however the receptionist was unable to find the part in under 3 hours. I sat there waiting and watching her call place to place seeing if they had the part when I finally joined the search with my iPhone I found out that the dealership had the part in stock and was less than 20 miles away. Idiots! On top of that they took apart my car in order to inspect to see what was wrong and when I finally said I would go pick up the part myself and bring it back they said, "Oh, we did $90 worth of work to take apart the dashboard and its going to cost another $90 to put it back together." They boast about their honesty but really? I walked out of there $180 shorter than when I walked in and absolutely no work was done, the problem was not fixed, and I still did not have the part I was looking for. They simply took off the dashboard and put it back together. They should not have charged anything for the service they did. Overpriced, Dishonest, No Common Sense. That's what you can expect at this shop, do not bring your business here! read more
