Bait and Switch Advertising!!…read more Bought a set of tires here, they were listed as having the lowest advertised price for the set I wanted and claim they offer a replacement warranty. They charge that rate per tire, and then the fees start coming in. Fee after fee end up putting them on the higher side of the market for the tires. At this point I have too much time invested so I move forward. They end up taking an hour and half longer than originally quoted. Then when I got a nail in the tire they charged me over a hundred bucks to replace the dang thing! After I had paid for the warranty!! Predatory marketing and dishonest service claims. Find a different tire shop.

Though they said it was challenging to find the hole at first--as it was so tiny--they persisted and repaired the area for a very reasonable price.

Why would my sensor be bad??? It's doing what it's supposed to do..alert when tire pressure is low. Then he takes my key, takes pics of my car. Comes back in and asks if I had my wheel lock key. I said it's on the center console. I talked to "one of the managers " as he described himself and explained my concerns to him about this particular employee. He just said "oh I'm sorry"but did nothing. When the rude guy came back in, I had made my decision that I was not comfortable there so I asked for my key and wheel locks back. He said "why?" I said "because of your attitude " he said " I don't have no attitude " I walked out. Just because I'm a woman you cannot treat me like I'm stupid. My father was a mechanic. I know more than you think. There are plenty of other places I can go. You just lost a loyal customer. I had bought several sets of tires for me and my kids' cars. Never again.

Instead, I was told I had to approve a $1,300 repair for radiator hoses and a coolant flush before they could look further at the engine. Not only did three other auto shops quotes come back at half the price for the same work, but they left out critical information about my engine most likely not working after those repairs. I had to google all the codes myself for that information. The price difference was concerning and they left me feeling uncomfortable about the recommendation. Most auto shops would see that there was an engine recall code, and refer me to Kia. Not try to scam a pregnant woman into paying $1300 for a car that still wouldn't run after their repairs..

Unfortunately, this visit wasn't as smooth as my previous experiences. When I arrived, I walked toward the service area and was told to go to the front because there were employees available to assist me there. Once I got to the front, I wasn't acknowledged right away. Later, when I returned to pick up my vehicle, I went to the front desk again and was directed back to the service area. When I got there, no one was at the desk, so I walked back to the front and again waited without being acknowledged before finally asking for my keys. The work on my vehicle was completed, but the customer service and communication could definitely be improved. There seemed to be several employees working, yet the process felt confusing and unorganized. Based on this experience, I'll likely continue visiting the El Camino location, where I've consistently had quicker and more attentive service. Hopefully this location can improve the customer experience moving forward.

1 star. Do not bring your car here…read more I brought myJeep SRT8 in for a valve cover, oil pan, and crank seal job on 5/8. Got it back 5/13, five days for a two-day quote. It was smoking before I even got back to work. Oil dripping onto the headers. Returned it same day, they re-torqued and sent me home. Still smoking. Dropped it back off 5/14 at 3:10PM. Picked up 5/15. Two lights from the shop my transmission started slipping hard in second gear. Turned right back around. Owner Ricky confirmed the slip on a test drive. His first question was whether I'd done aftermarket work to the transmission, trying to make it my fault before we even got back to the shop. Plugged in a scanner, found an old unrelated stored code, erased it, drove it again. His conclusion: "I don't know what to tell you." I pointed out the transmission was perfect at drop-off. He got angry. Said no one drove it, they only idled it. Then offered to pull camera footage as proof. I said let's go watch it right now. He said he had other things to do. This happened in front of my fiancée and two of his own employees. No intake paperwork was made when I returned the car, no mileage logged for the exact period the transmission failed. What I can tell you is the mileage on my car does not support the story they're telling. A certified third-party inspection from the shop literally 150 feet away documented my transmission passing with zero issues the same morning I dropped off. The oil pan job on the 6.1L HEMI also requires physically moving the transmission for access. They did something and when confronted with the proof, they dodged cameras and kicked me out. BAR complaint filed. Small claims next. Update "Response to Ricky, thank you for responding publicly this actually helps me significantly. You identified yourself here as "Business Manager." When I asked you in person for the owner, you said you were in front of witnesses. That is now publicly documented. Regarding the OBD codes : the stored code found was a historical "lost communication with TCM" event. That is not a transmission mechanical failure code. It is entirely unrelated to active gear slipping. Any qualified technician or BAR investigator will confirm those are two completely different things. Regarding the SRT8 being driven aggressively: on the morning of my drop-off, another shop conducted a certified digital multi-point inspection of my vehicle. 31 of 33 systems passed. Transmission was in the green. The only red flags were the exact leaks I hired you to fix. That inspection is timestamped and on record. A performance vehicle with aggressive driving history does not pass a certified inspection hours before drop-off and then suddenly fail two blocks from your shop after picking up You stated the transmission was not touched. The 6.1L HEMI oil pan job requires the transmission to be lowered for access. It does not need to be fully removed to be disturbed. You also claim no evidence exists linking your repairs to the transmission failure. There is also no intake paperwork from my return visit, meaning no mileage baseline exists for the exact period the failure occurred. That absence of documentation benefits only one party, and it is not me. Your building advertises transmission services. You told me to my face you don't diagnose transmissions. Thank You Sir

My first use of their services was for alignment for new tires on our 3 autos from www/sd.motoring.com. Since then, we've had new tires and front-end alignment for our daughter's car as well - all great service from both companies! Recently that "daughter auto" was afflicted with a dead battery, leaving me puzzled how you navigate this sort of issue. I called Scot at Accurate Alignment simply trying to put together a plan of action. Not being familiar with the whole towing process, Scot's guidance was welcome in getting the car to his shop to move toward repairs. I hadn't looked to Scot's team as being able to also provide other "SERVICES" as their name suggests. With his help we had the car in his shop, and out with a new battery by 4:30 same day! Scot was his usual helpful, professional, friendly self, guiding me along the towing steps from AAA, to one of their towing agents, and on to Accurate Alignment SERVICES for our needed repairs. I recently have had trouble with my car, i took it to pep boys, and got it "fixed." $3,000 later, i was still having the same problems with my car before i even went there. I recently took my car to Mastertech, and not only was i greeted by a very knowledgeable service advisor by the name of Nate, i was also made to feel like i was a long lost friend that had stopped in for a bit. They were very conversational and friendly. I was given a ride home, and the driver was very friendly, he didn't just drive he made me feel like we were just two friends on a cruise. The next day i received a phone call, and it was Nate. He advised me that they weren't experiencing the same problem as me, so he asked if i could come in a go for a drive to show the head mechanic Lou what i was experiencing. After the drive Lou went straight to work, and my car was ready by the next day. Mastertech sent the shuttle to pick me up from my home. Once I arrived Nate and I settled all the details, and he walked me out to the car to show me what exactly they had done. If you ask me, i think that is one of the best things a shop can do is show you their work. At a mechanic shop you really have to just take their word for it, but not at Mastertech. Mastertech was by far one of the best shops i have ever been to. From the advisor Nate to the head mechanic Lou this shop is very efficient and well rounded. Mastertech is the best place to take your car or truck here in Oceanside. I worked here for 9 years before hopping into a different career a couple years ago, but still make sure my vehicles are only serviced by the technicians here. Rick and Lou have a strong reputation throughout the community for the business they built (27 years ago) and are as straight as they come, if they say a vehicle needs something, there's no doubt about it, and the technicians they have are honest and very talented. Bob is great with keeping people updated and has fantastic customer service. There are many auto repair shops that continuously utilize the knowledge and experience of Mastertech, along with some of their specialty tools or factory computers, when they have cars they need help with. This is truly the "to-go" spot for all auto repair, from a simple brake job to a complex electrical diagnostic, you are in the best hands possible here. read more

Avoid at all cost! AAA towed me here, and when I go there they told me they would be able to look at it Thursday. ( this was Wednesday). He was incapable of finding the problem with the car, even with the "hours" he claimed to work on it. If he couldn't find a problem after hours, maybe he should find a different profession. My boyfriend went to pick up the car, ( since ours his) not at closing, a half hour before, and he refused to release the car due to California laws that don't exist. I have dropped off at car at a dealer and had someone else pick it up for me before many times. He called me and said that he was not giving up the car under any circumstances since he was already running diagnostics. I had to come Friday to pick it up, where of course he was rude, since he knew he wouldn't get more money out of us. Taking it to another mechanic that can actually do the work. I appreciated the good reviews. Most of my dealings were with Nate - the operations manager. He was very professional, helpful, knowledgable, personable & respectful. Our truck ( a Ford f350 6.7 diesel 4x4 ) needed extensive care with: an oil change; a wheel-alignment; damper kits & excellent, choice Nitto grappler G2 tires. I met highly personable, competent & highly trained mechanics. The staff/shop, are both well equipped to handle any of your diesel vehicle care, as well as all vehicular needs. I took my 2000 audi a6 into this shop because the check engine light was on..and was told it was told I had to pay $142.50 for diagnostics. Then I was told that I needed a crankcase ventilation valve, cost $171.07 and that I needed to replace crankcase breather assy. another cost of $47.50..now were at $361.07..then they and say the catalytic convertor needs to be replaced cost of $838.81 and they would have to modify the exhaust pipes to make it fit...Thats when enough was enough. I told them I was going to another shop. After spending $396.05 for nothing and being treated rudely from the service manager "RICK" I will never GO THERE AGAIN....I took the car to Purrect auto and they fixed the car for $420.00 and a smog cert to boot...Great service without the drama. read more

I bought a 1993 Ford F700 delivery truck last month off of the Marine Base at Camp Pendleton. I searched around on the internet close to Pendleton for a mechanic to go over the truck thoroughly. I found Mastertech from some reviews and decided to take a chance. I cannot express how pleased I am with their work. To show people how good their work was on my truck, I floored this truck all the way to Vegas. Granted it is not fast, but I did not let up on the pedal. They have a hoist that supported the weight of this beast to inspect it. If you ever need a mechanic that has alot of experience, talk to Nate, and Nate knows his chit. Mastertech has always been great to me! Nate and Rick are as real as they come, I tell them what is wrong with my truck and they let me know what is going to need to be done to fix it and if i could do it on my own. My heater core blew up and flooded the inside of my vehicle with coolant and they cleaned it up and fixed everything like new. Since learning of them I have gotten my heater core replaced, master cylinder replaced, my rotors shaved down and my break pads replaced. Mastertech has always given me an honest quote on the work to be done. I wont go to any other automotive garage as long as I live in San Diego! read more

I brought my car into a different repair shop for a problem with leaking oil. The other shop said it was the valve cover gaskets, and the estimate was $1,200. I already had them replaced, and the quote was too high, so I decided to take my car to MasterTech. I'm so glad I did. They were really friendly, helpful and honest. They diagnosed the problem as simply a loose oil filter. It has been about two weeks since they fixed it, and the leak is totally gone. Nate is awesome! If you don't know much about cars, Nate explains everything in the simplest way he can. He will do extra things like take pictures to show you or print out extra documentation for things. He communicates and contacts you well and simply does his best to make the experience smooth and easy. He is very personable. My experience with Master Tech was phenomenal. The staff there was super helpful and explained everything clearly. Also stayed in contact throughout the service. I had thought I possibly needed a new transmission on my 2012 GMC truck which was nuts because it's still so new but came to find out it just needed electrical updates. Highly recommend master tech! I came to master tech a few months ago when my check engine light would not go away after months of it being on and another shop just clearing the code without looking into the problem. I was helped by Nate who is extremely knowledgable and friendly. They told me exactly what the problem was without trying to fix this and that and adding on unnecessary things. This has greatly boiled down to the accident I was in, however, the break job I received at Coastal Foreign Auto (the shop who referred me to Suspension Plus for a sooner appointment for the bearings) was something they actually refunded me for. I was told I needed full break pad and rotor replacement on all 4 brakes at different "highly rated" Poway shop; I was quoted $1100 for this. I got a second phone quote from B&C for the same service at half the cost. When I took my car in, they were honest, told me I still had 50% of my front brake pads left and only need to replace my back ones for a literal fraction of the cost. I'll be back for all future car things, including oil changes!
