Had my wisdom teeth removed, it was so fast and easy, I almost preferred that then getting my cavities filled.

Went today to get a teeth cleaning by Leticia. She explained I needed a deep cleaning and also showed me additional details regarding my dental health. She was very knowledgeable and explained everything in detail. She also went over my x-rays with me. Highly recommend going here and getting your teeth cleaning with Leticia! I work in healthcare so I understand that things can happen. However how the dentist deals with the mistake is typically where I judge the quality of the clinic. I few weeks ago I was recommended to get my filling redone. Mind I also point out that this office charges for a biannual check up but the dentist never comes into physically check my teeth and just looks at the x-rays. They always say "Dr Matar will call you if there are any issues" and he never shows up. Doesn't even have the time to even pretend to look at your teeth. So basically the past few check ups I've only had to deal with the hygienist who was professional and did her job well. But the fact that the dentist doesn't check it every time...that should have been a yellow flag for me. So based on the X-ray Dr Matar determined that I need to redo my filling this time for some reason. I wasnt necessarily complaining of any changes to my normal sensitivity in that area. I trusted him and went in for this routine procedure. I've gotten many fillings done in my life and was comfortable, knowing what to expect. He numbed the area and injected som lidocaine. He walks away and I immediately feel a weird sensation in my cheek. I feel it with my hands and it was a lump/swelling that immediately appeared. I know that this is not normal. I feel this immense pressure in my cheek. He comes back and I ask if this is normal and looked stunned too. Long story short, it was very painful to open my mouth but he proceeded to do the procedure anyway by forcing my mouth open and using a bite block to keep it open. At that point my face is numb, im not sure what's happening and I felt helpless and didn't know if I needed to protest or not so was at the mercy of the dentist. Few weeks fast forwarded I now have a visible bruise on my cheek with days of my cheek swollen. I did my research and he most likely punctured a blood vessel in my cheek that just immediately swelled up. Thank God it wasn't a major nerve that could have left my face paralyzed....I guess I should be happy that it wasn't that. I understand that mistakes happen but Dr Matar never called back to ask me how I was doing. I dealt with the pain on my own and slowly trained to open my mouth. Also i dealt with all my friends asking what happened to me cheeks for a few weeks as the bruise was starting to become more and more visible. I believe that this is a routine procedure and if he can't get that right, I don't think I can trust him to do anything else in my mouth. Maybe the office is very busy but I definitely felt like Dr Matar doesn't seem to care enough for his patients to keep up with the aftercare. For that reason, I wanted to make sure that others are aware that this happened. Make your choices wisely! read more

I want give a special thanks to his hygienist Astrid who has the most courteous kind and positive attitude each time I see her. Dr. Matar saw me last minute - on a Saturday morning nonetheless! - to perform an emergency root canal. For as bad as the root canal procedure sounds, Dr. Matar and his staff made my visit painless. I am so grateful I was able to find him because I don't know what would've happened if I let that tooth go another day. His staff is super friendly and they have a gentle touch, too, which cannot be overlooked when it comes to dentistry. read more

I visited this week due to my bridge falling out. I drove 2+ hours to get there. I was greeted by Evalyn who does not smile and did not say hello. Then I was taken to the back where they took 2 X-rays. After that Mr. Matar came in. He was less than welcoming and seemed to be in a hurry to even listen to anything I had to say. He put cement in the bridge and shoved it back in my mouth. Then I had to mumble to try to explain that I wanted to fix this right and actually start my $20K treatment plan he created for me. He says "I don't have time". I asked for an extended appointment so I can come back with out 3-4 hours driving each time and all they can do is one hour appointments. Then I proceed back to Evalyn to pay, they would not bill my insurance, she asked to charge my credit card $85 and when my insurance pays them they will credit me. So basically they want to double dip or they simply don't trust that I will pay them if insurance doesn't. So I just told Evalyn to not file a claim and just charge me the $85 and of course she seemed annoyed. I went to dentist Matar on a recommndation from a friend. As a result, the bridge he shoved back in there in a hurry isn't aligned right. So I had to go to another dentist in Torrance to fix Mr. Matars work. So basically 4 hours in trafffic and $85 later I got bad service and actually damaged my teeth. Also it was insulting that I had to basically give you a deposit to cover the dental work in case my insurance didn't pay. You don't think I can pay you $85? Is this how you want to be treated? Mr. Matar, time is our most valued asset and you wasted my time. I am a busy professional and I simply don't do business with people who don't respect my time. I expect bad service at the airport. Not a front staff member at a dental office. If you're going to a dentist most likely you're in pain and your wallet is going to be in pain shortly after. At least be nice and be professional. In today's world there are plenty of doctors and lots of choices. Service is everything. Generally my expectation are low of others, this was a waste of time, energy and money. read more

The Dentist: bane of many, friend of few. Introducing... Dr. Matar, DDS. I'll start by saying that my PPO insurance is pretty good, and the staff, including the lovely Ms. Elvira, set everything up faster than I've ever experienced in any health or wellness facility. Seriously, all I knew was that I had some insurance from a certain provider, and she took care of the rest. A quick 5 minute questionnaire, and I was being called into the room for my first cleaning. Another note: I hadn't visited a dentist since a horrible experience with my wisdom teeth so long ago that I am ashamed to say how long. So no surprise that I needed a lot of work, and the immense pain that I had at another nameless dentist didn't leave me very excited. Dr. Matar saw me on my second visit, and already he had a plan. "Root Canal let's do it, you ready?", he says. I give the green light, and ten minutes later, he's grinding away. Another 45 minutes later and he's fitting a temporary crown. I still haven't felt any wincing pain. I've gone back for more, another 3 procedures, never feeling any pain, able to chew lightly the next day. Amazing, as I was expecting pain and discomfort. On the good Dr. himself, he's friendly, informative, always smiling, precise, efficient, dedicated, compassionate, and welcoming. I've referred every coworker that I can, because I'm happy. Happy with my teeth, happy with my smile, for the first time in years. Thank you, and your team. read more

Dr Matar is a wonderful and caring dentist. Our family have been patients for many years and we are very pleased. Our son even has had orthodontic work by Dr Matar and recently had his braces removed with breathtaking results. The office is newly remodeled and his staff is always helpful and sweet. The hygienists on staff are thorough, nice and do a remarkable job. The office hours are great and they even have some Saturday appointments. They take DPO & some PPO dental insurance plans. In addition to working out a fair pricing plan for those who do not have dental insurance. I highly recommend, you will not be disappointed! read more

If I can give this guy a negative stars I would. I've asked several times to be taken off of their calling list. But every few months they keep calling me. They did such a horrible job on my teeth. So here's my story. I went in for a check up and I was told that I had nine cavities. I obviously believe him because he was the dentist. It's not my usual dentist but I was referred to him and he said he could hook me up. In other words take my money. He did three cavities and I was in a ton of pain. I came back and he put some desensitizer on my teeth. And then did three more teeth. Again my teeth are in a bunch of pain. After that I went to my old dentist who did x-rays again. He was amazed to find out that I said I had nine cavities. Because in all the years I had gone to him I only had one. He later told me that I had zero cavities left. And doubts that I had any in the first place.dr.matar is a crook and was just trying to make extra money off of me. I spent about $2000 on my teeth with him. Just to find out that I really didn't have any cavities and was in pain and had several hours in his chair. I would never go to this guy and I hope you don't either. And now with that said please take me off your calling list people I don't want to hear your voice is asking me to come back for a check up is been several years and you guys can kiss my ass read more

Dr. Matar was recommended through a coworker. Their staff is very friendly, and patient. They always try to accomodate your schedule. When I go there I don't have to wait 30 minutes to be seen, I am in and out! Dr. Matar, is very thourough, patient and gentle. He removed all my metal fillings and although no dental work is fun, it was the best experience. I will definately go back and highly recommend him. read more

Dr Matar hygienist Rey is supper friendly, courteous, knowledgeable, professional and amazing bedside manners. I high recommend Rey for your next cleaning. Dr. Matar is also very friend, knowledge and courteous, his staff is nice and professional. Unfortunately, he shares office space with Dr. Gulesserian and his staff is not profesional at ALL! Working in the medical field I would recommend to have a professional, friendly face at the front desk to greet ALL patient when waking into the front door, not single anyone out because "they don't work for one specific doctor" I would also suggest to keep patient information covered because I've notice HIPPA violation at the front desk. Unfortunately, your staff does drive you business and if you don't have a good captain you will continue to receive complaints and bad reviews. But on the bright side the Dr. Matar is very nice, I have recommend my family to Dr. Matar and Rey is amazing. read more

When I was a kid I had very bad dental problems. I remember my mother taking to many dentists and I would hate going to the dentist. When I was 7 my mom brought me to Dr. Matar and he was the first dentist that didn't scare me or hurt me. I've been coming to his office since then. Even when I was attending college in San Diego I refused to go to any other dentist. I would make my appointments on the weekend (big plus) or during school breaks. I had my wisdom teeth removed at his office as well I love his staff as well. My mom, husband, and a few friends also receive their treatment with him and they all love him as well. I always recommend Doctor Matar to anyone who is looking for a new dentist. He is very personable, intelligent and overall has a great hand and does not hurt you. This review isn't for Dr. Matar but rather for the front desk staff. I called to pay an invoice and was placed on hold for a few minutes only to be hung on. I called back again and spoke with Elvira, who has bad phone etiquette. I gave her my card number over the phone and she said she would run the card and send mail me the receipt. I told Elvira that I assumed she ran my card right then and there as I provided my card number to her over the phone. She put me on hold to run my card and confirmed payment went through. What I did not like is that she wrote my card number down rather than keying in my card number on the spot. This tells me that my information may not be secured or safe. I asked her how do I know my card information is safe in their offices. She replies that everything gets shredded. That's hard to believe when she had no intentions of running the card any time soon. Elvira also spoke in a condescending tone and kept referring to me as "honey" where I asked her not to address me as such. I understand a front office can get overwhelming but not to a point where the frustration and lack of customer service is projected over the phone. read more

Dr Matar provides great dental service and nice clean office and nice staff. You never wait long to be seen. I especially love Rae the dental hygienist. She has integrity in her work.
