I came here today to try the weekend special of the mango sticky rice matcha and it was divine (though pricey). The space itself is tiny, with only a window seat that could fit max 3 people and a couple of bar seats. The service was friendly, but this was definitely more of a take out and go spot. They have a lot of matcha drinks on their menu, and I'll definitely be back to try more soon.
After having a great time at Matcha 108, I knew I had to check out their sister location Matcha 116 - even in the rain! Although there were several store specific seasonal features, I still opted for the classic uji matcha latte. It was super smooth!! The matcha and milk were mixed seamlessly and the ratio was on point!! My partner's banana matcha latte was solid and consistent with the one we had at Matcha 108. It was well balanced with the banana flavors and the slight sweetness that cuts the bitterness of the matcha. The space itself is quite small - only a handful of seats by the bar and the edge; barely space to stand while waiting for your order. Drinks did come out very quick. Loved that there was a dedicated staff member who just measured out matcha powder!
New viral matcha spot in NYC serving matcha hand-whisked in front of you...It kind of reminded me of watching the matcha being whisked at 12 Matcha, but with a much shorter wait. I tried three different matcha drinks from Matcha 116. Every drink is made with 5g of first-harvest, ceremonial-grade matcha sourced from Uji, Japan. They keep the menu small and matcha-focused, with two additional seasonal drinks. Since every cup is hand-whisked to order, the line stretched out the door when I went, so definitely expect a bit of a wait. The cafe is a lot smaller than I expected and not quite as zen as I imagined. The space was a little messy when I visited with cardboard boxes around. But the baristas were super friendly and welcoming. ＊Orange Miso Matcha $8.75 ** Unlike many flavored matcha drinks, the matcha didn't get lost here. It was very rich, while the orange and miso complemented it without stealing the spotlight. The sweet citrus and umami miso worked really well for me, but I think this is one of those drinks you'll either love or not. ＊Shinrin Spritz $8.75 Sadly I'm not a fan of this seasonal matcha spritz. I usually love fizzy drinks in summer. The sparkling matcha was refreshing, but the forest pine flavor didn't pair as well with the matcha as I'd hoped. ＊Ice Uji Matcha $8.25 Got the iced matcha with no milk to appreciate the quality of the matcha. It was deeply earthy and very concentrated that I could feel my heartbeat after a few sips. We had a caffeine crush after this lol.
orange miso matcha ($8.75) - with only one sip i can tell you it's one of the best matcha in the city - although i couldn't immediately tell there was miso in it, if i try really hard to think about it my tongue can be aware of it - it was a pretty strong matcha with unique fragrance i couldnt really describe, almost nutty like? - i thought it would be too sweet but it was just right! rating: 4/5 - solid top choice for matcha in nyc - it was a bit small for the price but not the worst... considering how strong and well executed this drink was, id recommend! - super quick service; store is extremely tiny though; can only sit 3-4 people IG: @nom.noms.only
This was not great. Had high hopes for this banana matcha. It tasted grainy. The banana flavor was not that strong. Would probably not try again.
One of the few viral matcha spots that has really lived up to the hype for me. 5/5 Banana Bread Matcha Latte - wow I did not expect to like this as much as I did!! Super fresh fruity banana taste (not artificial at all), and for my preference not too sweet! The ratio of matcha to milk to syrup in my drink was just perfect! Second visit -- decided on the Rose Matcha Latte which is equally impressive flavor wise! Tasted perfectly floral without being artificial or overpowering.

I waited about 15-20 mins They definitely excel at cold bevs over hot, so we stepped out of our comfort zone and tried the Orange Miso Matcha Latte. It's a little different, you get a unique hint of sweet and savory, but once it's mixed well with the matcha, it's incredibly smooth and tasty Shoutout to Jason the barista for the great service
OVERPRICED AND MISLEADING MENU!! Also, plenty of 5 star Google reviews are in exchange for a free pastry, fyi. Honestly, the matcha is just fine - but I've had matcha from other places that taste comparable for LESS $ (like 12 Matcha). I ordered the classic Uji Matcha Latte AS IS, which COMES WITH oat milk, as denoted in the item's menu desc. However, you still get charged +$0.75 for oat milk, which means the menu is misleading. They don't even ask if you want to sub the milk either, so why charge extra for oat milk...? I waited 25 min just to get inside. It's SMALL inside - pretty much just a bar counter with ~4 stools that are hard to sit on, as customers wait for their drinks by them. There's a small space by the window to sit at, but the space is cramped regardless. More of a grab + go spot. They weigh + whisk the matcha on the spot, which is all good to see. Friendly staff. Given the value of the bev, overall space, + wait time, l don't see myself returning. The price of matcha (esp with addtl milk alt charge) is getting out of hand.
Mostly drinks served at matcha 116. The service was quick and efficient you have atleast two bases of milk and 4-6 different drinks. The ambience was nice it has a china town setting, inside was different from outside they have it more modern on the inside. Matcha is more rich and earthy than others in this area! I got the vanilla matcha latte! Inside was very small area to move around but I am not from New York so it seems great to have a morning pick up and go matcha run anyways! When I visited they were very busy!!!
Really good matcha, high quality but def pricey. Love the cute intimate interior! Only 2 staff working and they have good recommendations.
There are a couple steps to walk up to this establishment. The store is small but still has a counter top with 2 big stools and a bench nearby the door and an outdoor seating with a table and two chairs. We were fortunate to have seats after we ordered. We ordered uji matcha latte, vanilla matcha latte, rose miso matcha and orange miso matcha. The miso matcha latte is interesting, it has miso in it and the taste is salty, not your usual taste of matcha. I recommend to try it if you want to surprise your taste bud! The rose matcha latte has rose syrup and the taste is not too strong to overtake the taste of the matcha.
Unfortunately this matcha place was not worth the wait. Didn't find the flavor that good and unfortunately this place just didn't feel authentic at all. Additionally the drink station seemed unhygienic and disorganized.
Very small shop with about 3 seats and almost no room to stand. The orange miso was absolutely delicious and must try. Matcha is strong but smooth and service is good.

I've heard about this place I decided that I wanted to come and try it out, and I'm so happy that I did. They don't have a food menu, they literally only serve matcha and hojicha, lattes the staff are was pleasant and very welcoming, which is really nice, and they were quick. It's a very small spot, but it's efficient and the matcha tastes pretty good. The colors like between upright and like frosty green, it has a very earthy taste, but they're bitter, but I do like it. and it tastes good If you're in the area, definitely stop and check them out. Priceline gives a pretty moderate standard, like between 7$-10$. I got a 12 ounce. They do so two sizes, and I believe it's 12 ounces and 16 ounces read more

We were on our last day in New York and wanted to try out one more Matcha shop - we heard good things about this sister location of Matcha 108 so we decided to check them out. SUPER small shop - literally one step in and you're at the counter. There are only 2-3 stools to sit at right across from the matcha making area, and otherwise standing room but would be crowded if so. We decided to just get the plain Matcha Latte to taste the quality. They asked if we wanted it sweetened and we said yes. After first taste, I was pleasantly surprised at the strength and flavor. We asked if we could add in a little more sweetner ourselves, and the staff said we could help ourselves. Adding in just a bit more to our taste preferences really helped out! I enjoyed my matcha thoroughly, and only wished there was more space here so we could spend more time. BE CAREFUL when you leave - that door is super heavy and will slam on you! read more

I liked both the rose and orange miso matcha. I don't think the combo works as well as strawberry matcha to me hehe. I still prefer 12 matcha or Mika's direction but this place was pretty good. read more

had higher hopes for this spot given all the recs i received. i ordered the orange miso matcha which is quite small for the price of $9.53. also, there was no orange slice or anything put on top which i saw in other photos. the matcha made felt rushed. I did enjoy the flavor of the orange miso- which to me just tasted like a balanced matcha with slight sweetness as the flavors of orange and miso aren't very strong. overall because of the experience i wouldn't return again but i do think the amount of matcha used was good! it's also a very small space!! read more

The matcha competition is fierce in the hood and Matcha 116 wasn't anything special. Place was a mess and staff were clearly in over their heads. Unopened milk containers and caps sitting on the counter with used drink cups all within reach of customers... Ingredients didn't seem particularly high end either (Poland Spring sparkling water poured out of a plastic bottle, neon "orange" syrup into a plastic cup...) This is not a premium experience. They upcharge for nondairy milk. Ordered a Shrin Spritz. Enjoyed it but not sue I'd return for it given the almost $10 price. Menu descriptions seemed much more exciting than the drinks delivered. Pastries looked typical/nothing special. By the time I got out the was a line down the block. Definitely not worth the wait if there's a line. Given the quality of the experience wonder if I visited during a soft launch and they're still working on the place. read more

The interior of Matcha 116 was so peaceful, and it was so intentionally done! Their specialty drinks were also so unique - I've never heard of an orange miso matcha latte before. I was a little scared but decided to go for it - I use miso all the time when I cook, so I was curious as to how it would taste in a matcha. Matcha 116 is extremely generous with the amount of matcha that they use, and the barista even gave me the option to customize how much miso I wanted in there. I opted for less than the normal amount and it ended up being perfect - you could still taste some of the saltiness from the miso but it blended so well with the orange that the last taste in my mouth was an orange matcha latte. If you really like miso, you could probably go for a little bit more, but I'd recommend starting at less than normal. But overall, I really liked it and think they deserve more hype! I would love to go back and try one of their staple matcha lattes, and I also heard amazing things about their banana matcha latte. read more
