I finally made it to this quaint and very small matcha cafe. The pictures on here make it look bigger than it is LOL so that caught me off guard. The designated parking lot is too small for the level of traffic they get, but you can easily park in the adjacent (and much larger) lot right next door and walk over. I'd say Matcha Cafe Maiko serves best as a grab-and-go, but there are about 10ish tables (only two being larger, 4-seaters iirc). I did see a high chair for anyone with babies. But I am not exaggerating when I say it can be really tight in there. I was there at 9PM when they close at 10PM and there was a line forming out the door with very few tables left. People seem to really like their matcha soft serve but I came to have their standard matcha. The first problem I had was that two digital menus advertised different prices. I asked the barista about it to which I was told they recently changed prices... perhaps take down the FIRST menu board that lists the older/lower prices? I was slightly irritated by that. Why have both on if only one reads the real prices? I was also blown away paying an extra $1 for oat milk with a relatively small drink that's already $6.50. It makes absolutely no sense to me. Unfortunately it just created more frustration in the process of ordering given the previously-mentioned price discrepancies. I was also thrown off by the fact that you can't order the matcha latte completely unsweetened (only the tea). As a place that advertises ceremonial grade matcha, you'd think that the powder wouldn't be pre-mixed with a sweetener. Hmmmmmm. While my latte was good, the husband did not like his as much. He said that the dairy milk was way too strong and completely overpowered the matcha leaving very little to taste. Again I have to ask just how "ceremonial" this matcha is (especially at its price point) if it isn't pungent enough to cut through milk. He preferred mine because the muted oat milk helped the flavor really come through. I was lowkey underwhelmed. The environment didn't help. No tissue in the bathroom. Cheap decor that should have been replaced/refreshed a while ago (paper peeling on the walls, etc). I'd only come back if I was in the area, but I'm not eager to revisit. The star here is the soft-serve it seems, and not the regular matcha.
First time eating at a matcha cafe in Atlanta and it wasn't bad. I mainly loved the aesthetic of the establishment and the ease of ordering. The ube/green tea cup we had wasn't anything too special but it still hit the spot. It definitely seemed like a chain which made sense. Not the best quality ingredients but overall pretty enjoyable.
As a new Mom, it was very much needed that I get back into drinking matcha (IYKYK). I took a long break while I was pregnant and even before as I felt like it was almost too strong for me and made me a bit shaky and anxious. But my new postpartum body of mine is welcoming it with ease, and this matcha spot has been on my list for far too long! Another local spot that doesn't have the most inviting curb appeal, however, don't let that stop you! Parking is quite limited, so I can imagine this location can feel/get busy quickly. My bestie and I arrived at the perfect time in the early afternoon and before we knew it, there was a line all the way out the door as we were waiting for our orders. I truly came here for the matcha soft serve if I'm going to be completely honest, but then my friend pointed out their matcha tea floats and I was immediately sold! Unfortunately, the ube soft serve was not ready yet so we couldn't do the swirl, but I went with the strawberry matcha latte with almond milk and the matcha soft serve on top. Probably one the greatest treats I've had in a very long time!!! Will definitely make the trek out here again soon.
Was visiting the area and friends and I saw this location and had to stop by. Such a great vibe for a small shop, which gives it more of that mom and pops vibe even though it's a franchise. The decor is great and looks well put together. There are seats to do work, meet with friends, etc. In terms of the drinks, the matcha was really good! I loved my black sesame matcha latte and the Ube matcha latte was good too! Definitely worth a visit! Also, although I didn't order it, I saw someone order one of their ice cream type of items and it was massive and looked super delectable. It's $10 for one but it huge totally seemed worth it!
I heard of the cafe because of the aesthetic inside and ice cream looked yummy! I am actually not the biggest fan of matcha ice cream, but I did a half and half with vanilla. Was not bad and the gold while looks cool, just looks good for pics! It did not taste like anything. Quick service and cute ambiance. Seating was plenty! Good amount of parking in the lot outside.
I've been to Matcha Cafe Maiko more than five times, and when it first opened, it was one of my favorite spots to grab a refreshing treat. Lately, though, the experience hasn't been quite the same. On my most recent visit, they were out of vanilla soft serve, which was disappointing. The space itself feels dated now -- mismatched furniture and not enough seating, especially if you come with a group. My friend and I sat at a table, only to have a group of six pull up extra chairs right next to us minutes later, which killed the relaxing vibe. That said, the treats are still delicious -- the matcha flavors are rich, creamy, and satisfying, and the service is consistently good. Bottom line: If you're just craving a matcha fix, you'll still leave happy. But if you're looking for a cozy, comfortable spot to hang out, the cafe could use some updates to bring back the charm it once had.
This little place was too cute! The parking is only couple spots in front of the building but it is very cozy when you walk in! The staff was very nice and helpful! This was my first time having matcha ice cream and I was so happy! Just blown away! Check them out because they won't disappoint!
I've visited this location a couple of times in the past, when they have their Black Sesame flavors on the menu (highly recommended). Today I came for the seasonal Mango Sticky Rice Sundae... it's soooooo good! It was quite busy but the service is always fast, efficient and friendly. I really like the minimalistic vibe and comfort. The is is one of the Buford Hwy places that I always keep coming back to.
All the hype about the banana pudding matcha latte just for it to be so underwhelming. Raise your hand for everytime you see people hyping something up just to be disappointed! The idea was great but the execution could have been better. It had so much potential but I didn't like the taste. It was not enjoyable and it was an expensive drink which is understandable.
Most people know of this spot from social media advertising their popular matcha ice cream. To date, the most talked about item on their menu is the banana pudding matcha drink. Im not the biggest banana girlie so I opted not to try that drink. This place is planted right in the center of the Buford Highway street that extends for miles. This location does have a small limited parking lot. So be mindful when you're coming here during peak hours. The place isn't big either and during the weekends it can be pretty packed. The barista and cashier were super friendly and knowledgeable of the menu. They have matcha ice cream pints in their freezer for purchase as well. I tried their strawberry iced matcha & let me know tell you! It did not disappoint at all! I 100 percent savored every sip of the matcha drink. Since this place has become extremely popular the prices are higher than a typical Dunkin coffee shop. I will say the price is worth it for the great experience.

I really enjoyed the Matcha tiramisu! It was so so sooo tasty and moist. I almost liked it better than the traditional tiramisu. The black sesame seeds latte was very nice as well, not too sweet. The brown sugar matcha latte was good too but I did not like the boba in it. It tasted like plastic or silicon. The cookies were pretty good too. Good flavor. I think there are a lot of interesting things to try here like the durian ice cream, ube crepe cake slice, and gold leaf matcha soft serve! Cannot wait to go back. ~Gyoza was good too! read more
If you're a matcha fan- this is the place for you. Tried the gold matcha ice cream -the gold is just for looks and cost more. The cup of matcha was the perfect size and the toppings paired well with it. The shaved ice wasn't our favorite, it's pretty big too. Was a bit disappointed because they were out of all the other flavors we wanted. We'll definitely be back if we're back in Atlanta and hopefully they won't be out of anything next time. read more
The desserts here are pricey, but the ice creams are worth it! I love the Ube and Matcha Soft Serve Ice Creams. This time, I also tried the Dango (rice flour dumplings), and I couldn't finish it; it had no taste. I'll never order that again, but I'm excited to try the other flavored ice creams next time. read more
Came here to get a dessert the other day. The staff was really friendly! It wasn't too crowded when I came in. It was a Tuesday evening. I got the maiko special. I got it with the twist - so it was matcha soft serve and taro soft serve. It was pretty pricey but the ice cream was so tasty! They have had pints to go. A fun place to try. I'd like to return to try one of the matcha drinks as well. read more

I went this past week to try the MSR sundae special. It seems there's some sort of sewage leak at the store... it smelled similar to the issues tea house Formosa and Cuckoo's cafe experience. If it wasn't for that I think I would round up my 3.5 to a 4 but the smell just wasn't great and I didn't want to eat in the car and make a mess. I thought this sundae was pretty good although the proportions could have been better with the fresh mango which was very good. There was a lot of mango soft serve ice cream which was a nice surprise compared to the promo marketing image. The sundae was $8.99 which for the amount of mango seems expensive to me but who knows nowadays in this high inflationary environment. I'm glad I tried it but wont be stopping in for it again. Next time I stop by it'll be for the standard matcha soft serve read more
I love Matcha Maiko! The interior is very nice and well-themed. The menu choices were a bit overwhelming for a first-timer: there are lots of options from drinks to soft serve to floats. I just ended up going with a classic, the Maiko Special ($7.80 at the time). I enjoyed this mix of flavors and textures, especially the matcha cake they added in with the ice cream. I'm definitely looking forward to coming again, and happy that they opened a location in Duluth which is closer to where I'm located! read more
This place is so adorable and has a great selection of everything matcha. I was feeling extra so I got the Golden Shogun soft serve which came with gold leaf lol. The texture was very rich and creamy and actually reminded me of the soft serve I had in Japan. I also tried one of their Hojicha teas but I didn't like it cause it was too bitter but my boyfriend ended up enjoying it. If you're a matcha lover, definitely check this place out! read more

I think this cafe is decent. The matcha drink was good and was around $8. You get a decent size of matcha for it, with a sweet blueberry layer (only good for people who like sweet stuff). The onigiri tasted like a fried hash brown since it didn't have any filling, but the crisp outer layer had a seasoned flavored to it. They were also quite small and were priced at $6. read more
I've come here a couple of times but I went when they were doing the squid game promo. They had the dalgona cookie and flavored ice cream to match. This place tries out new flavors frequently and they are always tasty. There's seating inside and a little bit outside as well. There are a couple of parking spots in front of the place, but if it's full you can park in the lot behind the place as well. read more

After another visit and comparing it to matcha elsewhere, the matcha quality here is unbeatable. The service here has improved immensely over the years and the menu has expanded to include snack foods and a matcha or ube mille crepe cake. They also sell ice cream as a takeaway in various flavors including durian, Thai tea, matcha, Sakura, and Ube. read more

Oh my goodness, why didn't I come here sooner !! What a magical little spot!! I saw my friend post about brown sugar soft serve with boba so I HAD to come try. Apparently they have different flavors that are limited time only served and ive heard such wonderful things about this place. They serve soft serve, floats, lattes and maiko. (Please check out their menu in pictures for a better idea ) The soft serve is delicious. Just perfect. Same with the boba. Service is quick and fast and it's so clean inside. I will easily come back again and just from trying my icecream, I just have a great feeling anything I ordered from here would be delicious ! The only complaint I have is the parking in the front is awful!!! A couple of spots and it's hard to squeeze into them. If not, you can park around the side and walk but it's more convenient to park in the front. read more
If you love Matcha, then this is a place for you! Dine in seating is blocked off so everything you order will have to be to go. Nice decor and set up. Service was quick and no complaints. I ordered the matcha soft serve ice-cream with waffle cone. I didn't realized the matcha flavor to be that strong. It was too much matcha for my liking. I should of ordered the vanilla and matcha swirl. I did enjoy the waffle cone, it was nice and soft. They do have special seasonal flavor offerings. read more
We found this dessert spot on Yelp as it had such amazing reviews! The reviews don't lie. This place is awesome! We sampled both flavors of soft serve: Green Tea and Durian (flavor of the week). We decided to go with one cone of the Durian which is a very tasty tropical fruit. We also ordered a Matcha Chocolate Chip cookie. Both were fantastic!! The soft serve is a little pricey but definitely worth it! If you've never been here, I definitely recommend you give it a try. They have a full menu of desserts! We always come here to try different types of soft serve flavored ice cream so today they had Ube and Matcha and It was a perfect combination. I really enjoyed it. There are no Vanilla or chocolate flavor soft serve - for ones who want to order on the more subtle flavors. I believe they only have two flavors every week or monthly. As I mentioned before you have to like Matcha and Ube flavor to like this, but if you do, this is definitely a hit! As far as the service it was really packed, and this time my ice cream seem to be on the softer side, It actually tilted and almost fell over. I had to catch it with my hand. The cashier at the front provided "ehhhhh" service not as friendly like my first time coming here. maybe because they were so busy but I didn't really care for her that much. But still give a 5 star. read more
In May, I came here for the first time with a friend who recommended it! Ever since, I've been dying to go back. Before ordering, I tried the durian soft serve which was yummy. The service was kind and helpful. I thought about getting the shaved ice (matcha), but since my friend had already ordered for herself, I decided it would be too large for just me. Cute dessert spot in Duluth! The matcha soft serve was great quality. The shaved ice was not as smooth as I'd like, but still pretty good. Do be warned that the shaved ice doesn't look like it does on the menu and it's HUGE! My friend and I shared one and we only finished half. Love this place! It's open a little later than other dessert options on Buford Highway so you get a nice after dinner crowd. The soft serve is delectable. They have matcha soft serve all the time and change up the other flavor - it was ube not too long ago (as of 3/10/24) and now it's Sakura (cherry blossom). I got the matcha latte float with both flavors in soft serve. Friend got the float with strawberry lemonade. If you like nutty flavors, the black sesame float is also great. The parking lot in front is super tiny, but you have a larger lot for the plaza behind and would recommend parking back there and walking up to the front. It's a busy area with the popular el rey restaurant in the next plaza and parking is always tough there read more

This chain is one of my favorite places to get matcha desserts, so I was ecstatic to find one here. My fiancé and I ordered the Maiko special to share. It included: matcha soft serve, mochi balls, Japanese chestnut, matcha sponge cake, red bean, cornflakes, and agar jelly. The matcha soft serve was rich in flavor and tasted amazing. All of the toppings were delicious as well, aside from maybe the agar jelly, which I am not typically a fan of in general. I have not tried any of their other soft serve flavors or desserts, but I definitely have those on my list! read more

I was so glad I got to have my ube craving satisfied today. I have been missing ube products since I left Maui in February. I recently tried going to Manila Mart nearby for the first time and they were completely out of ube ice cream. I kept seeing ads for "limited time only" ube soft serve at this cafe on Facebook, so decided I would drop by today and get my sweet treat. I have been wanting to try this chain for awhile, as I love all things Matcha, and I remember seeing them when I went island hopping to Oahu some time ago. I thought it was pretty cool to find out they originated in Waikiki, though I didn't know that initially. There was one spot available for parking today in front of the store. If you blink, you'd pretty much miss the turn, as it comes up quickly on Buford Highway and is on a corner suite. I could see a lot of people parked already had cones, but no one else was inside when I ordered. The seating area is all closed off as the pandemic continues. I wore my mask and a big family that came in after me were all wearing masks. It became pretty cramped near the counter as soon as they filtered in behind me as there was not much room near the counter. My order came out quickly, so it was fine though. If you're uncomfortable, there is some room outside where you could wait. I ordered the ube latte float with crystal jelly. It was really good - not overly sweet, but sweet enough with the jelly. It reminded me of Halo Halo - if you've ever had the Filipino dessert - minus all the other added fruits and toppings. I would definitely come back to this shop and would like to try their take on gyoza, takoyaki, black sesame products, raindrop cake, Japanese cheesecake, and matcha of course. I plan on visiting the Duluth location too one day to compare. If you want to try the ube flavored treats, come on down soon. I hear they will only be guaranteed until the 20th of this month so far. read more

I have been frequenting this cafe for years since they have opened. I am never disappointed by the fast service. Their new menu items are always exciting. I have brought many, many people here for dessert and almost every single person has loved it! They have a great setup of chairs and tables, optimal for socializing! It was a nice Sunday afternoon and I was craving ice cream. What better choice than a soft serve? We drove to BuHi and found this little shop across from Mozart Bakery. As others have mentioned, the parking here is minimal. Fortunately there were only one other customer when we arrived. They have their menu posted on the outside and you can order inside when you're ready. There is a plexiglass in front of the register. We got the Maiko special since it was our first time. The flavors available that day was matcha and ube. The girl behind the counter barely said 2 words to me, it's like we were disrupting her by ordering something. I wanted to see if they would do a swirl of both flavors, but decided against it in the end. She made my order right away and it does have nice layers of different ingredients. Jelly on the bottom, corn flakes, Azuki beans, matcha chiffon cake and matcha soft serve with matcha powder on top with 1 chestnut and 2 mochi balls. The ingredients are nice and they all paired nicely. Everything matcha had a good strong flavor and the soft serve wasn't overly sweet (which I prefer). However, it isn't anything special in my book and with the poor service, I wouldn't return again. read more

Listen I pulled up to this unassuming match ice cream spot not expecting much but was so very impressed. The outside isn't much but the interior of the place was bright, clean, and inviting. The nice young lady behind the counter recommended the matcha/vanilla swirl and it was delicious. The taste of the matcha was delicious ! It tasted amazing with vanilla. I was impressed with how quality this matcha tasted. And for about $5 it was definitely worth it. read more

Found the cutest matcha spot on instagram I'm obsessed. The matcha was perfect the way it came I wasn't disappointed. The 2 employees there let me take as long as I needed while ordered I didn't feel rushed. I also got to try a knew snack :) read more
I've been to this matcha maiko location a couple of times and overall, it's a cute place to grab a quick dessert and hang out with friends. I typically get their mix matcha soft serves as they have seasonal flavors to try. Sometimes it's very good, sometimes it's just okay. I've also tried their floats before and it was decent as well. One reason I did take a star off however, is because the seating areas can be messy when it gets busy. read more
If you're a matcha lover like my mom and I, this place is a MUST! She ordered the matcha frappe and I ordered a strawberry iced matcha latte, which was actually a recommendation by an employee! Both were so delicious! The interior was also very neat and clean, it has a nice green warm vibe to it. It is a small location, but very cozy and there weren't too many people. They also have some cake and ice cream which I'll come back and try another day! Overall 10/10 for service, environment, and drinks. read more
I'd planned to visit Matcha Cafe Maiko, but didn't have a chance to stop by until this time. I was so looking forward and finally I went2 times for this trip. I had soft ice cream first time and shave ice the 2nd visit. I am so glad the taste is pretty closed to the taste in Japan (I learn Match Cafe Maiko opened many locations in US, and lately in Waikiki, HI as well). The Cafe is nice and clean. The menu is pretty similar from the one in Japan. My suggestion is.. always go with Matcha soft ice cream if you don't know how to start, or just want to make sure whether the Matcha flavor is strong enough. I personally think Uji Kintoki is the classic one, but Parfait is always my favor. read more
Yeah yeah, I'm late to review but what's new? Matcha soft serve was still so new to Atlanta, although who else remembers their first matcha soft serve being at Nori Nori for dessert? Parking is probably the worst thing about the location. AWFUL. You have to make sure you don't park too close to Yen Jing or they will send someone after you and I'm not even exaggerating. If you can't find a spot in front of the cafe, try to park closer to that TitleBucks. I've been a few times since their opening - and everything I've ordered I've really enjoyed. Maiko Special - you can get this with matcha, vanilla, or mixed soft serve ice cream. It's a super insta-worthy parfait topped with some tasty Asian things. Iced Hojicha Iced Hojicha Latte Iced Matcha Hojicha Float - an iced hojicha with soft serve of your choice! I tried both the iced matcha and the Hojicha latte at Taste of Atlanta. The iced matcha was perfect, especially after I asked for no sugar - it was still refreshing and the matcha flavor was strong. The Hojicha is a roasted matcha, which has a smokier flavor. At the actual shop, I definitely recommend ordering the soft serve or Maiko Special. If you're taking to go, a latte or iced tea may be your best bet. read more

Love coming here for the hojicha or matcha latte and their soft serve. Got the ube and matcha swirl a couple months ago. The matcha overpowers the more subtle ube flavor, but the flavor on its own was good! This location can only do one seasonal flavor with matcha. The Duluth location has more flavors available during any time period (likely because they have an additional machine). They do carry pints here of other flavors even though they aren't available in the machine. If you stop by often, don't forget to participate in rewards! Earn points towards freebies. read more
What a lovely matcha cafe. The service is great. They let you sample if you ask. They explain all the difference in the menu to help you make your decision. I went with the matcha soft served matcha float. The matcha has a great flavor. We love it because it's not sweet. We went with just matcha tea to compliment the matcha soft serve on too and slowly mix in with the matcha tea. I would recommend this place to all matcha lovers. read more
