I disappointing new entrant into the area. I ordered an appetizer of wings, and a chimichurri steak. My wife ordered crabcakes. It was all bland to mediocre. The wings seemed to be from restaurant depot, and had both cold spots and overcooked spots. The chimichurri sauce had no taste. The portions were unimpressive and my wife left hungry, yet the bill was $110 with tax and tip. I would give the food three stars and my wife would give it four, but the high prices and small portions drag it down. Service was slow too, but I'm not taking that into account as everything is Covid crazy on that front right now. read more

First time dining in, though I'd had takeout a couple of times. I went during prime dinner hours on Saturday night. It was shockingly quiet/empty. As in, just us and a few other tables taken. It's weird to see Founding Farmers bumping but hardly anyone at Matchbox (especially since I've had such underwhelming experiences at FF). The really attractive outdoor bar was completely empty other than one very lonely looking bartender. The food was great, though I do think it's confusing that the menu in the restaurant is missing several items that show as available online. I asked for something that was missing from the physical menu (grilled chicken and avocado sandwich); the (excellent) server seemed super surprised it wasn't listed and assured me they had it (it was delicious btw). Other half very much enjoyed his meal as well. I really hope the lack of crowd was an anomaly because I think it's a nice addition to the neighborhood and we look forward to going back. read more

Ordered a burger cooked medium well which was served so undercooked it wasn't even rare. I know what happens when you send food back so I didn't. Servers stopped by a couple of times but then never cleared plates. We sat there for a very long time waiting for our check. When it finally arrived, I handed the server my credit card without looking at the bill. My bad. After I got home, I saw that they had charged us for an iced tea and an Arnold Palmer. We had 2 iced teas. There are too many good restaurants to go to these days. Matchbox isn't one of them. read more

The food and drinks are great. Love how they separate the hot food (protein) from the salad when you order to-go! The inside seating areas are in serious need of acoustic dampening. Concrete floors and ceilings make for a loud experience. read more

My husband and I recently ate at the Wiehle Ave Matchbox and are delighted to report that we will be regulars! First of all, I want to compliment the staff. Paul, our Server, has been there since the beginning and made us feel so welcomed. Another server stopped by our table, Taj, who was as sweet as could be, and the manager, Melissa checked in on us to make sure everything was satisfactory. We felt like we had been coming for years. Since we are new to Matchbox, we asked Paul for suggestions, and he did not disappoint! I ordered the fig and prosciutto pizza. Let's just say order large, you will want leftovers. My husband started with a bowl of chili - deep rich flavor - yummy! And had a burger that was juicy and perfectly cooked. The Reston Matchbox is on the smaller side, with a separate large bar. We liked the setting because it felt more intimate. Don't forget this gem next time you want great food with friendly, great service! read more

Another restaurant I need to rave about. I found this on Uber Eats and I am a huge fan. The food and service is excellent and the packaging and portions are outstanding. So we had read the previous reviews since this location opened and realize that the Covid economy and worker shortage is affecting everybody. We love the Matchboxes in Loudoun and Merrifield, so having one closer is only better. We went on a weekend for lunch, and it was not terribly crowded. Parking at Reston Station is free on weekends, but Matchbox does validate also. The bartender was very attentive and not shy about making suggestions. The food came out before long and was consistently as good as the other locations we've been to several times. The location will do well with the corporate offices in the surrounding office buildings, and I expect the outdoor bar area will be popular in warmer months. read more

Very good food. Tasty, well prepared and large portions. Service was surprisingly good for pandemic times.

My first time at location, I like they have a nice outdoor bar set up and big indoor bar area. Food was surprisingly really good, I was not expecting too much after the reviews. Big portions too. We had artichoke dip for starters, miso salmon and their doughnuts for dessert. The service needed wor though, server forgot to give plates for appetizer, no water entire time, we had to request silverware while our food was already on table. I also wish this location would not charge a parking fee if we come to dine. It's too costly. Validating is only for 3 hrs but I have dined in other places at this location where service is incredibly slow and we have to pay parking for going above our limit. Please reconsider this considering your parking garage is always empty. read more

Let me start off by saying that the food is INCREDIBLE; however, the customer service by the bar was poor. We Came here for Sunday brunch and four of us each spent $50 for the brunch bundle (includes bottomless mimosas, an appetizer, and a brunch meal). Our waiter was incredibly standoffish and didn't check on us for 30+ minutes, while all four of us waited without drink refills. He treated us like we were an inconvenience and was extremely short in his answers. I would not recommend dining at this place to anyone despite the excellent quality of the food. Food is excellent we got pickup, problem is they messed up our order twice on two separate occasions. The first time we were forgivable as they just opened, but the second time we asked for blue cheese on the side of our large Margherita pizza and they put blue cheese on the Margherita pizza. We loved the look of the outdoor bar, interior decor, and the menu. Unfortunately, after sitting for 15 minutes, we asked the hostess if a waiter/waitress could take our order. After sitting an additional 10 minutes, we left. Maybe it was the early 5 pm dinner hour that threw them though we noticed three hostesses and +/- 8 wait staff wandering around inside? We ended up at Big Buns just across the plaza for a salad and burger that was excellent and eager to serve. read more

I was looking forward to hopefully having a new great food place at Wiehle Station. I tried their carry out food - pizza with bacon. Um...wow....NOT worth the price. Their pizza is super thin, which isn't a bad thing, but for $20 for a large pizza...no way and no thanks. It was more like a personal pizza. It was so thin and I could barely see the topping. I thought MOD pizza was "ok", but Matchbox's pizza makes MOD's pizza look much better for quality and price. read more

This is by far the worst matchbox to dine in as a customer and from I was told to work as well. Management are incompetent and don't care for the servers. They belittle their staff as well. The owner of this restaurant needs to be made aware of what goes on in this restaurant because it's unacceptable. My Steaks being over cooked and no fault of my own and the general manager did not offer me a dessert or some sort of comp for the the extra long wait. Recently dining In I witness a manager name Melissa kick out a paying customer and from what I was told was a former employee that had recently put in his two weeks. He was a paying customer and did nothing and she even threaten to call the police if he didn't leave. Needless to say I could imagine that gentleman feeling embarrassed because I would be too! Is this how we treat customers? I looked up who the owner is and it's run by Thompson Hospitality. They will to be made aware of this. UNACCEPTABLE! read more
