Great brewery not too far from the downtown area. Kind of dark atmosphere, however, but the service, food, and beers made up for it. I had a DELICIOUS Oatmeal Stout that was thick, creamy, and to me, tasted slightly better than the staple Sam Smith stout from England. I enjoyed a 1/3 lb. hamburger with plenty of lettuce and tomato, plus some spicy, peppery bacon. It was delicious, and so were the tater tots! Interesting approach to ordering. You grab a menu yourself, find wherever you want to sit, then come up to the front (ala McDonald's) to order your food and beer. They give you the pint glass or tulip that contains your beer, you take it back to your seat, and the food is brought up to the table much like a sit-in restaurant. Strange method for the beer, as someone could accidentally trip and shatter the glass, sending 8-16 oz of beer everywhere... Good service, at least! I wish I would have ordered some 4-pack cans, but alas I didn't. Maybe next time I'm in Sandpoint. read more

Excellent brew, nice vibe and a really cool facility. Their Double West Coast IPA was crisp, not too hoppy, pretty stiff at 8%, and had a very nice finish. Wifey greatly enjoyed her cider option. Friendly ladies pulling the taps. They have a decent menu, and if the kiddos weren't set on a different restaurant, I would have had no problem dining here. Maybe next time, huh...? read more

Decent food. I got the Korean bbq tacos. Pork was a little dry. Also, got a cup of Broccoli Cheddar soup which was decent, except it had a weird consistency to it. Almost like they used condensed milk or something different with it. My husband got the Reuben and said was also decent. Not the best he's had, not the worst! Bonus points for the kids play area and the nice changing tables in both bathrooms. We'll be back for sure. We had a great lunch here with our kids. Their kids menu was clearly planned by parents - they have a char-kid-erie plate where the kids choose 3 little dishes from a list that includes apples, blueberries, pickles, cheese, etc. They also have a kids play area with a chalk wall, trucks, bean bags, books, etc. On top of all that, the beer and adult food is excellent, and features local producers. This was our first time here, but we'll definitely come back next time we visit Sandpoint. read more

The staff was really nice. Loved the decor and ambiance. Service was a bit slow, but it may be they were understaffed due to COVID. My husband had the brisket philly cheese sandwich with a beet salad. He thought it was really good. I had the Greek gyro. It was good. Nothing spectacular about it, but I might order it again if I were in the mood. Loved the french fries. We also had the goat cheese bruschetta. It was brought out with our food rather than earlier as expected. It was delicious once I picked the onions out (sorry for those that are onion lovers, I dislike them raw. They are spicy to me - even the red ones). The description does not list onions as one of the ingredients, and when I mentioned it to our server, I was told they could not be excluded anyway. I understand they probably chop everything up ahead of time, but I'm sure they have the raw ingredients on hand and could chop up some on request or keep the ingredients chopped but separate and assemble per order. Lastly, the beverages. My husband had a Keep It Wild Wit and thought it was very good. I had an ice tea. However, they do not provide Splenda. I was offered raw sugar or stevia or honey. Unfortunately once tea is cold, raw sugar and honey do not dissolve, and stevia is bitter to me. Maybe they can offer simple syrup. I also find it hypocritical that they would offer Diet Coke, but not offer artificial sweeteners. I opted for they honey, and once it finally dissolved by the end of my meal, it was quite good. read more

My partner and I came back here for the second time (after a year away) for a sunny Friday afternoon burger and a round of beers, and it was even better than we remember. We got the totchos and my-oh-my were they delicious--truly one of the most delicious things I ate over the week long vacation. And we got the cashmere IPA, which might be my new favorite, which is saying something because I drink a lot of IPAs: fruity and hoppy without being too bitter, crushable without being too light. We bought a drunkards bounty of crowlers to bring home, canned to order and kept cold until you're ready to mosey on. The service is super friendly, fast, and helpful. The outdoor tiki-style ordering stand is convenient and easy. The merch is high quality and reasonably priced too. We love this place and will be back whenever we're back in town. read more

Really cool location in Sandpoint. I really liked their outdoor area. I had called ahead to see if they were dog friendly, they said sure, outside only. Great! When we arrived, were were told he would not be allowed on the concrete, so he had to lay in the bark...Really?? At least he didn't care. But this is Sandpoint, a pretty dog-firendly town. We just stopped to try their beer. While there were a couple in my group that said a few of their beers were ok, none were considered great. Some seemed unfinished. Maybe other beers they have brewed are better. Guess we will need to give them another try. Only had outside seating, inside was closed. read more

Ordered a spicy chicken sandwich with a simple salad. Wife had what they call a pasty. The pasty is like a light flaky crusted calzone and they change up the stuffing on the daily special. My wife had an artichoke jalapeño and stuffing it was delicious. My sandwich was great too but the salad had the best flavors... it was arugula with a citrus vinaigrette, craisins, and feta. After a few years visiting Sandpoint, I'd confidently say this place makes the best beer in town. I've had excellent IPAs, stouts and most recently an incredible bourbon barrel imperial stout. We've also eaten here and had great food all around. Shout out to the cauliflower banh mi style sandwich. Most importantly, the service is absolutely stellar. We were severely underwhelmed. Overpriced food that did not wow us at all. This was our most expensive meal during our 4 night visit in Sandpoint and our least favorite. The clam chowder was nowhere near what we imagine clam chowder to be. It was spicy and light green. And the bread bowl it came in was overcooked and hard. The soft pretzel was tiny and WAY too buttery. The only thing we liked that we had was the greek salad. Go to Mick Duff's instead. read more

Much like an oasis in the desert, Matchwood Brewing Company was healthy and delicious. A surprise in a sea of burgers and fried potatoes. Don't get me wrong, I love a good burger and am always down to polish off someone else's side of potatoes. However, even I have my salty, starchy limits. Don't get me wrong, I still ate potatoes during this meal, but Matchwood's food menu includes many tasty and healthy options. I opted for a side salad and grilled chicken sandwich and was offered some big curly like fries, which were the best potatoes I ate while in Idaho. I also enjoyed a Kolsch style beer, which was a nice compliment to the lighter food items I enjoyed. What put this spot over the top was the welcoming service and a super chill indoor and outdoor environment. Well done Matchwood! I am new to doing Yelp reviews, this happens to be my first. Sad to say it will not be a good review. Although I do enjoy this restaurant. The Food/Beer is amazing with fair prices and the architecture is aesthetically pleasing to the eye. The reason for this low score is because of the service. I've been here multiple times and normally the service is great. But, there is one server in particular who always makes my time here unenjoyable. She is condescending and rude. I will keep going here but I do not expect her to be here for long. read more

This is a beautiful space. I was just there this last Saturday for my daughter's MUN fundraiser. Matchwood was very generous0 to these kids which is a big plus for me. I am not a big beer drinker but I did take a few sips of everyones around me and they were all pretty tasty! I didn't order any real food but I did order some mac and cheese bites and my kids seemed to devour them so they must have been good!!! Again this is a beautiful space and it has a couple of cute little places for kids to hang out and play which I thought was amazing, my youngest is 8 but she loves to tag around with me and this will definitely be a place I can stop by with some friends and know she will not get bored. The staff was all great very helpful and friendly. Prices were a little on the high side for drinks and food but I am sure they are comparable with other smaller breweries in town. Tried lunch at Matchwood after stopping in for drinks several times. Menu looked good, but a little expensive. All burgers $18ish kinda place. My burger and fries were fine, but the $8 Caesar salad was a bit of a joke. Super small, and it looked like it was out of a bag salad kit. Lunch for two plus one drink each turned out to be 50 bucks. I'd give the flavor 4 stars, value 3 stars, and I'd stick to drinks when I go back but get food elsewhere. read more
