First course I played that had wild turkeys roaming the course.

Played Mather Golf Course yesterday for the first time. Had a tee-off time around 7am. First impression, the facility looks good. Did not check out the restrooms but they have them in the main building. Pro shop was decent and the guy working the register was friendly. The course itself was in pretty good shape. Nice fairways, greens were in great shape (though I couldn't judge the speed all damn day) and this course is fairly generous to beginners and intermediate players. Not a lot of hazards to worry about as far as losing balls. I shot a 115 and didn't lose a ball the whole round. There's only one hole with a water hazard (the water looks pretty yucky; looks more like an outhouse runoff). I spotted a couple of hydration stations on the course, but no dedicated bathrooms. I did see a porta potty at one point, but I don't really consider that a restroom. It's more of a last resort to avoid peeing or pooping your pants. That'd be my only criticism is to maybe have a small restroom structure between 9's. Outside of that, we all had a great time and with this being a former military course it was cool that the golf carts were all named after military jets. The tee boxes were also little bombs or missiles (although at one point I thought one looked like a goldfish cracker). I would definitely return and play Mather again. At $64 a person it's a little steep, but it was a well-kept course and that included a cart so I'm guessing if you walk it's more affordable.

I have brought my children to this range for instruction. The instructors are nice and knowledgeable. Good with kIds. They have a lot of patience and really take the time to try to show them the skills needed to be successful in golf. The course itself is also nice. They have great weekday early bird specials!

Had a great time playing at Cordova today! Our tee time was right before 2 leagues were playing…read morebut we didn't feel rushed and maintained a good pace of play, even with 4 players. The fairways are wide and overall very well maintained. Primarily par 3 & 4's, similar to Antelope Greens, but closer! Prices are also very reasonable.

Very wide and forgiving fairways!…read more Not the most pristine of courses but its very accommodating for newer golfers that need room to work with after a bad shot or ...10 when slicing/hooking. Its hard to miss a fairway here even for the most beginner of golfers and even if you miss, you're on another fairway with a clear shot to back on track on your hole to get up and down. Golf sure is tough aint it? There are trees too, but not enough to block your way but those squirrels gonna have to 'scramble' out the way. You won't often find yourself behind a tree having to lay it up but hey it happens to the best of us. The terrain is very flat and beneficial for the newbie that needs good lies where the ball is level with your stance. Theres some water too, around the back nine near the driving range so hopefully your ball doesn't take a bath here like mine did. The green fees are a bit high for the course quality but its also very convenient for finding tee times mostly. Will def be back for more bogeys...and hopefully some birdies next time. Watch our, beginner golfer on the tee box...FORE!

Haggin oaks is a great beginner course located in Sacramento…read more Pros: you are able to choose either a 9 hole or 18 hole game. I was able to rent golf clubs here as I was on a trip for $15. If you wanted to rent them for an 18 whole game, you could rent them for double the price at $30. The clubs here were pretty good where they give you irons from 6 to 9 with a pitching wedge, gap wedge driver and two hybrids of course itself is very straight with a couple par 3's to par 5's. The grass here is maintained with not a lot of dirt or bumpy ground and a great place to practice using all your clubs. I was able to rent a golf cart too which was nice and new compared to other golf carts at other courses. Cons: the price here is not that bad ranging around $50 to 80 depending on how many holes you play. The location of the driving range and the pro shop compared to the first hole is kind of far but the good thing is that there's two different 18 whole courses here one that's beginner and another one that's advanced specifically I played the arcade course, which was the beginner course. Verdict: I highly recommend this place to practice using all your clubs where I had great maintained grass and greens and was in a good location with high-quality rental clubs and golf carts.

I opted for the Trackman fitting (whole bag) and Jack was pure class throughout the entire experience. He explained the what and the why on club selections and what the Trackman numbers meant in an easily consumable way. Although this was my first fitting and my first time meeting Jack, he's obviously a high character/integrity guy that gives a shit about what he does. I highly recommend seeing Jack and will be sprinting back to him for all of my future club needs.

After spending the day exploring the trails at Stone Lakes National Wildlife Refuge, we had…read moredefinitely worked up an appetite and decided to stop by WildHawk Golf Club for lunch. Honestly, after being out in the sun, walking the trails, and melting a little in the Sacramento heat, walking into that air-conditioned clubhouse felt amazing. The AC was cranking, the drinks were ice cold, and it was exactly what we needed. We were actually the only people there when we arrived. I ordered a beer that came out perfectly cold, and we also grabbed a few Gatorades to replenish those electrolytes after our hike. For food, we ordered the club sandwich, a brat with fries, a western-style burger, and a side of fresh watermelon. I was especially excited about the watermelon because after being out in the heat, something light and refreshing sounded perfect. Unfortunately, as soon as I opened the container, I could smell vinegar. I took a bite just to be sure, and it had definitely gone bad. I brought it to the counter, and the ladies working there immediately checked it themselves and agreed something wasn't right. They were incredibly apologetic and told me to pick out another container. Unfortunately, when they opened the others, they discovered those had spoiled as well. While I was disappointed because I had really been looking forward to the watermelon, I genuinely appreciated how they handled it. They immediately offered to replace it with anything else on the menu, which was very kind and much appreciated. The rest of the food was great. My club sandwich was delicious, although next time I'd probably ask for crispy bacon because mine was a little softer than I prefer. My daughter loved her western burger, and my husband completely devoured the brat and fries. The only other challenge was the parking lot. We drive a larger vehicle, and some of the spaces felt a little tight and tricky to maneuver through. Helpful tip: If you're ordering fresh-cut fruit, it never hurts to give it a quick look and smell first. Also, if you're coming in after a hike or a hot day outside, the cold drinks and air conditioning are worth the stop alone. Overall, this was exactly the kind of casual lunch spot we were looking for after a day on the trails. Great service, good food, and they handled an unfortunate issue with the watermelon the right way.

Very Nice 18 hole course out in the Vineyards area off Bradshaw out towards Elk Grove…read more Making the tee times online was easy enough, however whether calling or online, the availability is only 7 days out. Price was reasonable, $76 for 18, riding. Course is decently challenging with doglegs, trap and pin placement and tricky greens when putting, but course is well maintained. They had just paved the area around the grill and had cobstruction on the patio, so the beverage cart was unavailable during my round, however there were plenty of water stations with fresh cool water throughout the course. The grill has a nice variety of good for before or after your round as well as snacks, and various beverages from soda, gatorades, beer and mixed drinks. My Bacon Breakfast burrito was quite tasty, with a healthy mix of peppers and onions with the eggs and bacon and cheese. After the round I enjoyed a Bacon Blue Cheese Burger. All on all , a decent change to our usual golf outings.

It has been lovingly taken care of and highly maintained to its present day perfect state of being in my opinion. Golfing at Ancil is truly a walk (or golf cart ride) along side nature and beauty. Having sooo many relatives and friends who call Ancil Golf their home course is no coincidence. They all love the Ancil history, appreciate the landscape of the course and yes the competitive spirit of the game. I have had the pleasure of walking the incredible fairways and being a ride-a-long with many a golfer. So I know the special nuisances and ambiance of the course. I was recently reminded, again, how blessed the Carmichael community is to have Ancil Hoffman Golf Course as their own very special place of joy! I returned to Ancil recently to purchase a gift card as a Christmas gift. Even though it was cold the sun was shining and the golfers were out in numbers. Turkeys and deer grazing about. And amazingly... I saw a flock of magpies flying from tree to tree. Such rare birds since the Nile virus took its toll. Made my day! The Golf Shop employees are such welcoming and professional people. I think Sam helped me with my transaction. Friendly, engaging and helpful. He thanked me for supporting Ancil Hoffman with my purchase. That is amazing! A thing of beauty is a joy forever certainly applies to Ancil Hoffman Golf Course. Come and enjoy!

The holes were challenging just enough for myself (novice golfer), lined with trees, great tee boxes and not a lot of areas to lose balls. Which helps my game.
