Eat here yesterday for lunch. Wasn't really crowded, but service was pretty slow. A little longer to get our (2 people) food then I would think, since our order was soup for both of us along with half sandwich for one. One order delivered wrong soup. French onion soup used croutons instead of bread - not my favorite- and was warm. Getting our check was a real hassle, waiting literally 15 minutes. Too bad, this place has the right ambiance and its outdoor patio is great. However, a little pricey for lunch ( soup $9.00) and service moves this to a 2 star rating. Let me start by saying the waiter and manager were very professional and accomodating... However, I was not impressed with the food. We went there for Sunday brunch. I ordered a veggie panini on focaccia bread. It came out as a regular sandwich, with room temperature vegetables and mozarella. The manager explained the restaurant doesn't have a panini press and they just decided to call the sandwhich a "Veggie Panini." They were apologetic, and asked me if I cared to order something else. I ordered the kale salad. Upon receiving it, the kale stalks were old and black/or molded. I showed this to the waiter. I've gone here a couple of times for lunch and the service is always fast and friendly. The sweet potato fries are crispy and seasoned well and the chicken burger is delicious! There seems to only be outdoor seating so just keep that in mind on warmer days; however, there are fans everywhere which helps with the heat! read more

Mattison's is always a pleasant experience with delicious food. The only problem I have is that I cannot try all of the menu items. There are large portions. The firecracker chicken is so good, fried right, crispy and well seasoned. We have also enjoyed the gumbo and the reuben. Oh and the bruschetta. I haven't had a bad bite yet. Food is excellent here! Appetizers are very tasty, particularly liked the fried artichokes. The gumbo is best ever. We have tried several things from salads to fillet mignon and every single dish was exceptional. But what was even more exceptional was the service we received from our server Toni! The grouper picatta was amazing. The dish was composed and all of the flavors were amazing. The fish had just the right amount of crispness without being over done. I have Simi currently in my wine fridge and know fresh vs open/ non- vacuum sealed cab's! Yes, he did offer samples from the "keg style wines", however, his non friendly attitude over this, is what pushed me to write this review! Had he provided good customer service ( as I am used to receiving at your other local locations), my honest review would reflect just that! In my 23 years living in the area this is by far the WORST restaurant I have ever been too. Lousy food, music so loud you could not even talk to one another. I will never go back and advise you not to go either! For your information we asked twice to be seated elsewhere but the waitress would not accommodate us. N.E. Clam Chowder. I've been served a larger cup of coffee for $6.00 USD. Color and flavor was off. Old scalded flavor, no clam flavor and no fresh thyme. Obviously inexperienced at executing a good chowder. In fact, no accent of sherry wine - just flat. Like delivering a can of clams with cream. No chef with any really passion in the food being served. Enjoying live music but the restaurant has no menu to compliment late night; drinks, apps and bar food to match up. By the way, this cup of chowder was $6.00. Had to mention it again. Look at scalded color. Eyes are not on their game. Did I try a lot more, no. For the dogs I am fully in support of service dogs in a restaurant, but only if they have proper documentation to prove the dogs are necessary. Anyone can buy a sweater for their dog saying "service animal". This is not proof of anything. Crystal, our server was sweet and attentive. The food was just ok. We ordered chicken tenders and fries. The chicken tenders were cooked well but had ZERO flavor. The BBQ sauce was runny almost like water. No thickness. The cheese pizza was also not flavored well. Almost no taste but it was cooked to perfection. Cheese was melted well and crust was crispy but the sauce needs flavor. The Asian wings were flavorful but was ready to eat as soon as they hit to the table. So they were not hot or even warm as if they were freshly cooked. The fried green tomatoes were delicious but also not warm and you literally get 3 slices for the price. What a great find. Staying across the street and saw the good reviews on Yelp. I had the Bison Poutine- the Bison was perfect, and the portion was huge so I stopped myself fro. Eating all of the fries. Still a bit hungry, I tried the Collard Green Wontons- wow! Delicious! I never made it to a main entree but saw several go by. Just finished a wonderful meal while listening to great rendition of Beatle Classics with a wonderful server, Pam. A perfect meal of lemon piccata grouper with risotto, while my husband had ribs, shrimp, French fries and apple slaw. The Apple slaw was probably my favorite - light crisp and not too sweet. Not your normal coleslaw as it was stepped up, as was all the food served. We had to try a dessert and the mango peach cobbler was an excellent ending. Fresh fruits, warm cobbler and vanilla ice cream. Not too sweet and just a perfect ending to a perfect meal. The music made us feel like we were back in the days of the Fab 4. While I've had worse, this was pretty bad. Sesame crusted tuna and stir fried vegetables were drowning in a cloyingly sweet cold sauce. My husbands meatloaf was burnt on the outside and cold on the inside, how do you do that. Mashed potatoes cold and the onion ring were limp and had a funny taste. I would have given one star but our server was nice, though she didn't ask why I left most of my meal on my plate. Maybe brunch will be better. read more

I like Mattison and now the snowbirds are gone, it is no longer super crowded. My favorite time to go is during is Happy Hour. I like the Happy Hour Pork Taco along with a small salad it makes a meal. My favorite and I mean favorite is the Shrimp Rangoon, it used to be a Happy Hour Special (I hope they read this review and bring it back.) After a stressful day tied up in a suite and a longer drive than expected, I wanted a beer, outdoor calm/quiet and a decent meal. Upon waking in, I was greeted with a smile and about all the professionalism one could ask. I had my choice of table and was happy to see a very clean place. An atmosphere lost. The fans racing over the rush hour traffic made for more than white noise. Food: menu has a few unique items but nothing that caught my eye as a 'must try', even the bison items. The sushi was fresh albeit small; like reeeaally small, but hey, that's the appetizer. The salmon entree was well, a mixed picture. Quality food, cooked well (I'm rarely asked what temp I liked my salmon at) but it lacked some season. Rice base and mushroom topping again were check box good but not impressive. No greens??. Beer selection was decent which I suppose is the theme of this review. Overall, this place was good. Polite service and no issues with food quality or time. Priced an inch above the value, I would encourage a little more attention to detail, theses guys have more potential. read more

The executive chef needs to go. The food combinations are questionable at best. Avoid the BBQ sauce with root beer. It is like a soupy watery BBQ sauce like a 5 year old would make if given the ingredients. The "roasted" wings are actually fried. The truffle mashed potatoes taste like box mashed potatoes with something mixed in. How do you screw up mashed potatoes??? The house salad is good. Caesar salad is not. Cheap croutons and runny flavorless dressing. They are trying too hard to be trendy and upscale ad they're really failing at it. Something's are better left without crazy combinations. I normally like new and interesting menus but not this one. We are foodies and eat at a lot of top restaurants nearby and are really disappointed especially since this is practically in our backyard.
