Our family had dinner here. The food was very good along with the service and atmosphere our waiter Austin was great.

I have a food allergy & cannot have Gluten. The menu was very helpful by adding 'GF' symbols to certain items on the menu. We had the Groupon Piccata (GF) & the steak w/ Truffle Mashed Potatoes! The food here was amazing, but I almost didn't get to discover this because the host attempted to turn us away. Surreal but this actually happened last night. My two other companions and I were met by Jonathan when we requested seating for our party of three. Without surveying the room he quickly said that there would be a wait of about 15 minutes. Naturally this would have been find if the wait was warranted, but unfortunately it wasn't. Although very busy, there were quite a few open tables that's could have accommodated us. Frustrated I pointed out two of them to him that were right at the entrance. Yes two empty tables less than 6 feet away. Even more frustrated I quizzed him as why we would have to wait when there are open tables. He remarked that the servers were busy and that he didn't want to overload them. I still however suggested that we sit and be serve rather than wait outside in the heat for 15 minutes. However he stood his grounds and stated that he didn't want us to wait and not get good/proper service. Seeing what was going on, Paul who I later learned was the assistant manager stepped in. Speaking very low to Jonathan, we could still hear him say that there are open tables. Taking charge of the situation, Paul sat us In less than 2 minutes. Props to Paul and our server Enrique for making the evening, what began horribly wrong, one that turned out to be a pleasant outing on #nationalbestfriendsday - yes this is a thing LOL. So Mr. Paul Madison, should you decide to retain the services of Jonathan, may I suggest that he not be allowed to come into contact with people that looked totally different from your other patrons at the restaurant. Yes we were the only people of color at the time. And since you can't control who attempts to patronize, as host and seater, that may not be the best job for him. We were in on vacation( July )and noticed one of our favorite bands ( Doug Deming & The Jewel Tones)were playing here. NO COVER charge!! A great place . Spacious. With a big bar.Warm out so all the windows were out and they had portable cooling units throughout. Definitely kept the " Riverwalk" atmosphere alive! Food was great. Pamela our server was great. Ordered 2 medium pizzas (brick oven)and a basket (Huge)of fries. Sound was great. Can hold a conversation while the band played. Area to dance up front. Very happy to have found Mattison's! I run and bike the Riverwalk regularly and have meant to stop by and finally did. First of all thanks to Nicole at the bar. While training a new teammate she provided a friendly professional and natural style of service. All outdoor dinning is my favorite style of restaurant...helpful cheerful staff is the best style of service...delicious fresh food is always the way to go. Mattison's nailed it. That is very hard to do as we know especially with the covid employment environment. Normally don't eat during a workout but if you offer artichoke hearts in a lemon caper butter sauce then I would try it anytime anywhere. Far exceeded my expectations with subtle elegance. Thank you to Chef Paul and whoever executed the dish on the line. I moved to Bradenton a year ago and love the area but have been a little disappointed in the food. What a find. This restaurant looked promising but at last the SERVICE is horrible. Made reservations and was seated early. We ordered our drinks which were received 20 minutes later, a Bloody Mary and an ice tea. The waiter has been and continues to ignore us. Guess his automatic 20 percent gratuity is more important than good service to everyone. Really nice location with plenty of parking when we went on a Monday. ALL the seating is under a roof but does NOT have walls per se. With cooler nights, heaters can be used. On this night they were not needed. The live music was great! And if dancing is your thing (it is most definitely not mine) some folks were cutting a rug down by the band. Service was average...everything I read on Yelp said reservations were needed so I called and a terse response from a older guy, who when telling him I wanted an 8:15 reservation said " Yeah, you got it." And then hung up without taking my name or answering any other questions I had...like about parking! Once there we were quickly seated to a mostly empty place at 8:15pm.. The waitress wanted to take our orders right away but maybe they have a lot of regulars who come in. I ordered the Pappardelle and my wife ordered the baby back ribs. She loved them and the sauce in particular was slightly sweet and had a little spice in the back. The pasta was paired with plenty of mushrooms and they were tasty...I would order this again. We also ordered the Shrimp Rangoon! It was the star of the show and was Chefs take on a de-constructed crab Rangoon. The cream cheese acted as the glue to hold in place U-6 shrimp fried in a tempura batter. And drizzled with sweet chili sauce and balsamic glaze. Dang it was good. Finished with the Key Lime Pie. It was only ok. Small tartlet lacking much key lime flavor, served with some whipped cream and a fruit squiggle that I could not I.d.. extra limes (not key limes but Persian)were cut and put on the plate. I used them to get more lime flavor. Cons: Customer Service on the phone and at times at the restaurant...like trying to order Key LimePie and later trying to get check. Also prices are high. I know this is a chef driven place but Pappardelle did not include any bread and butter for $31? Good grief a small mesclun salad with a vinaigrette would have added about .63 cents? Those things took a half star off which is pretty good by Yelp standards. 3stars is a-ok. With better CSX (customer service). And a few tweaks this would have been a 5. read more

Great service from Susan. However, watching the employees violate ServSafe by not using an ice scoop by dipping water and iced tea pitchers into the ice cube cooler. Along with taking food outside, uncovered, out into the parking lot and walking back into the outside area to bring food to customers. What it dust kicked up suddenly, would you still serve the food to your customers? Additionally, the kitchen was VERY SLOW in just getting chicken tenders and fries to our table which took over 20 minutes instead of seven, or so, minutes to the table. read more

We went to Mattison's Riverwalk December 14 and it was our first time eating out since February 2020. It's one of our favorite restaurants in the past 2 years since we found it and we want it to stay in business! Our waiter was Scotty and we can't say enough great things about him. He told us that it was a little too early to order pizza, but would check with the kitchen. Came back and said they would get it in for us a little early. Everything we've ordered here is delicious and the bartenders really know what they're doing. Such a pleasure to dine outside in such a beautiful area. My husband and I were so happy to have moved here permanently last week. We will definitely always ask when Scotty is working because he cares so much for his customers. Very disappointing experience! Came for lunch with my visiting family. Service was slow. Waiter's shirt was unappetizingly sweat-stained. My son ordered a fried chicken sandwich from the menu and it came out grilled instead. Waiter said he "hit the wrong button" so we had to wait to get the replacement. My grandson ordered the filet from the children's menu and asked for it medium rare. It came out well done! He opted not to send it back, but did not enjoy it.
