I finally made it to Mattison's after hearing how amazing the food is. Everyone was right - the food was unbelievable and I'm a tough critic. I thoroughly enjoyed everything we ordered from starters to desserts. More importantly, the service was fantastic all around. Our server, Cherry, was so personable and accommodating. I don't know where to start. Host was very pleasant and helpful, I think they were the highlight of the evening. No offense to the host but in no way should they be the highlight of the night. Made a reservation for 6pm, showed up early so our table wasn't ready but they were able to accommodate us at the bar. Once we sat down at our table the night changed. Waited at least 10 minutes before our waitress decided to greet us and ask what drinks we would be having. After 15minutes a guest at our table had to find our waitress and ask where our drinks were and she assured him that they would be right out. 10 minutes later and still no drinks, this time the same guest found the manager, which she was very apologetic and comped our first round of drinks. Finally received our drinks a few minutes later. For the rest of the night we had to go up to the bar to get our own drinks because of waitress was MIA. Our food came out at a reasonable time but thats where the accolades end. Everyone at our table had ordered different things, I had the half chicken with port wine Demi glace, the chicken was very bland and by no means was the Demi glace an actual Demi glace. A Demi glace should be a deep, rich sauce, this was more of a flavorless broth. . I did not enjoy it at all. My wife had the Salmon entree which she stated was very bland. A guest at our table had the scallops and they were a little under cooked and bland as well. My kids had the sushi and both stated that it wasn't very good, so my wife tried it and she agreed. I don't think one person at our table finished their meal. Thats pretty sad for the price you pay to eat here. Our waitress was rarely seen throughout the night even though by the time we got our food we were her only table. Bad customer service and bad food, not a good combo. The manager did come by at the end of the meal and ask how our meal was. After hearing our complaints she tried some damage control by offering free drink tickets and taking 20% off our bill but it won't be enough. I will never recommend this place or return. Its too bad, we ate here at Christmas time and everything was great. FYI, I own a restaurant and I've been in the food industry for 20+ years and in my opinion this place should be a lot better. read more

Took 3 golfing biddies from Tampa for dinner at Mattison's City Grill. We were seated quickly. Our waitress appeared right away. Drinks were promptly delivered and were all perfect-as ordered. I had the bbq ribs and was pleasantly surprised at the weariness and tenderness. The sauce complemented the pork. The crispy grouper sandwich was said to be well done. Another friend had a sushi roll which was greatly enjoyed. All in all, a pleasant meal was enjoyed. Only drawback was a leaky roof. Will return. read more

It's not the food that bothers me, it's the music, really good choice of music and i love the live music, but the volume, it's so low, i can't hear anything, and i have perferct ears! We've dined at Mattison's many times the last couple of years. We love the outdoor feel of the restaurant. The food is always delicious. This particular evening, we were meeting friends from home (MI) for dinner and conversation. Our server, Pam, was very attentive. The only down side of the evening was the loud band performing on the other side of the dining area. They were very good, (We enjoyed dancing to their tunes on Valentine's Day.) but it was very hard to carry on a conversation during their sets. read more

I was staying at the Courtyard across the street and the front desk guy said the food here was good and they had TVs to watch basketball. Well, the food was good but they only have one small TV in a very small bar area. I had the fish and chips and it was really good. The batter on the fish was very tasty and the fish itself was light and flaky. The fries had a little seasoning of some kind that was quite good as well. My son had the burger. It was very big and he said it tasted good as well. The service we had was excellent. Our waiter checked on us frequently enough to be helpful without being annoying. Met friends yesterday for lunch at Mattison's. What a disappointment. We have gone to this restaurant for many years and always enjoyed the outdoor seating and the food. While the outdoor seating was still there, although buggy, the food was not very good. My husband specifically told the server that he was allergic to cheese, and both items he ordered came sprinkled with cheese. The accompanying lamb chops for his salad where dry and tasteless. My breakfast "hashbrowns" were ordinary fries and my toast arrived at the end of my meal. The other two salads were underdressed and the accompanying chicken was tasteless. Upset with myself for suggesting that we meet here, especially with a 35 minute drive. Unless they improve service and food, we will be going to other places. read more

Dinner was artichoke appetizer and sushi...both were good not outstanding. For lunch the next day we had blue cheese bruschetta which was very good and also "lump crab cakes". They have music 6 nights a week. They have a big bar too. Food was fantastic. Ribs that fell off the bone, great bbq sauce and flavor. Cole slaw that had a nice touch of apples and cranberries. Chicken was super moist and flavorful. Sweet potato / Brussel sprout / bacon hash was really good and fresh, great addition to the chicken. Menu had a large selection.
