They've been open a year and a half. I've been going to grad school a year and a half. I am just discovering this location now. For shame. I love Matto and am so happy that this is right here on campus, but so inconspicuous. I got an almond milk latte, added some cinnamon, and was very grateful for their half-Starbucks pricing ($2.83). Their coffee is good, I'd say Pret-level, and the latte was made pretty well. It's a little too bitter and not quite as smooth as other places, but still did the trick and I enjoyed it. Service is quick and friendly. No space here, FYI, so just grab and get out.

The cheapest place to get coffee in NYC! They have so many different options and everything is 2.75 flat (2.50) with the app, no matter what shots/type of milk you add. Multiple locations and you can order in advance as well. I like their lattes and cold brews, I haven't had anything I disliked yet!

Delicious drinks for a fantastic price! Came here almost every day when I was visiting NYC! Highly recommend the iced strawberry rose.

For $2, the latte is an unbeatable deal but that being said, it does taste like a $2 latte. The espresso doesn't have a strong flavor but it did make me pretty jittery after. The service is nice but the ordering process is very confusing, especially through the app. It took one of my friends a good 15 minutes to get their drink because they couldn't process it. Would recommend if you don't want to spend a lot on coffee.

$2 everything. Need I say more? Anyway. The coffee is pretty good. Same quality as Starbucks but for like a third of the price. And, the alternative milks and flavor shots are free. Speaking of drinks, allow me to put you on to something: hot matcha latte with oat and a shot of vanilla. Just fantastic. The food is also quite good. I go here almost every day so I've amassed a pretty comprehensive list of what's good. Here are the food items I consider my favorites. In terms of savory food, the potato and spinach burekas are top tier. For sweets, the pumpkin loaf, pistachio muffin, and brookie are my favorites. When you order through the app, it can sometimes take a bit to get the text that your drink is being prepared, but the turnaround between getting the text and getting your food is extremely short. (Usually the longest wait is when NYU classes go on break and everyone runs to this store.) The staff is also extremely kind and understanding, so if you let them know that you've been waiting for your drink, they'll expedite the process and just make it for you. There is no place to sit inside, and the interior is very small. Very much a grab-and-go situation. The outdoor seating situation is also kind of small, but there are a few metal cafe tables/chairs, and a bench. I've never seen all of the seats here be filled, even when there was a line out the door.

    Iced Matcha Latte

This is probably the worst Matto I've been to. I ordered an iced matcha latte on the app this morning (4/20/23) and waited in-store for the barista to finish making a previous customer's matcha latte. Hers was a vibrant green. Several minutes later I was handed mine, which was surprisingly VERY LIGHT in weight. I confirmed with the barista this was a matcha latte, and she said yes. It nearly looked like a vanilla milkshake in color and was 90% foam. I took 2-3 sips (frothy foam) and I was practically done with the drink. Every other Matto has much better quality, so I'd avoid this location.

best deal EVER. i never want them to leave i love everything about this place and how you can make adjustments and it would still be so affordable. i'd gatekeep but honestly i want them to thrive SO COME!

I haven't had two dollar coffee in forever that's actually decent. I came by tia place as I was visiting the park nearby. The coffee was rather good and they had a wide selection for just two dollars! Can't wait to see more places like this!

What can I say, this place is amazing. From the customer service to the food and of course the coffee. Our server went over and beyond to take care of us and every customer in there in a timely manner. To top it off all the prices are only $2.50 for everything. If you're in Manhattan you need to try this spot. Highly highly highly recommended.

I've never tried a Japanese cheesecake before and was extremely excited to be able to pick up some treats for my coworkers as well as my partner's birthday cake from Keki. Ordering is fairly straightforward and done with a simple machine outfront. Once your order is ready one of the staff members hands it to you through a window; there is no inside area accessible to customers but our food came quickly and we took it back to the office. The cheesecake was fantastic. I read a bit about the background of the shop online and how the owner really cares about using high-quality ingredients, specifically dairy. It was justas described, light and bouncy. I enjoyed how it was not overly sweet and found that it was all too easy to devour the entire cake over the course of two days. Despite it not having much weight to it, it traveled surprisingly well as I took it home on my three train commute! Similar to what others have said, the real highlight of the shop, in my opinion, are their cream puffs. I'm not sure what I was expecting, but the outer layer was thin yet had a nice little crunch to it. We tried the classic milk, cookies & cream pistachio and ube flavors. Our favorite was the pistachio by far, which had such a unique yet decadent flavor and our second favorite was the milk cream puff. There's not much else I can say other than you really have to go here and try the desserts yourself. If you're a fan of Japanese desserts that are rich yet not too sweet, you'll be a fan of Keki.

And I commonly see the upstairs for private events like baby showers, bridal showers, or birthday parties on social media. After dinner with my friends, I was looking for dessert and I was glad to see this location closes relatively late on a weekday night at 11 pm. Upon walking in, I was greeted by a waiter who led us to one of the purple velvet chair booths that was perfect for two people and another waiter brought us a pitcher of water almost immediately. The menu is on a QR code already on the table and we were given ample of time to decide. My friend and I both already knew what we wanted to order. I got the purple Yam Souffle which takes 25 minutes to make and my friend got the fried squid tails. We also got a signature Rose Green Milk Tea to share. The waitress who took our order has great memory and recalled all of our items without writing it down. She also reminded me that I could adjust the ice and sugar levels of my drink which I had completely forgotten and would have got annoyed if my drink came out 100% sweetness. Another thing is that my drink order frequently comes out wrong at other locations so I was glad she got it right! Green tea instead of black tea and with milk instead of without milk. The purple Yam Souffle is just like the other locations. Hot, soft cakey texture balanced with an ice cold red bean Ice-Cream. So delicious! The squid tails on the other hand was not what we expected. It came out burnt and hard. The outer batter was not crispy either. We informed one of the waiters and he brought it back to inform the kitchen staff. We received a new batch that was not as burnt and had more flavoring this time around. However, the squid was still hard and not like the ones we get from other locations with smaller crispier pieces. Overall, it was still a good experience and I love the decorations at this location! This might be my second favorite location after the Flushing one. Would love to come back for brunch or hi-tea. Or regular food options when I have not already eaten dinner. My usual go-tos are the twister fries, Santa Fe chicken rolls, fried salted crispy chicken, and the trio dessert combo. However, this location has a lot more variety! We ordered potted rose milk tea to share, Dubai affogato and Brown Sugar Boba Mille Crêpes Cake. We came on a Friday around 4pm. Originally I wanted to try the strawberry matchamisu, however, was told that it sold out. What a bummer. The rose milk tea came with a themed pot and cups which is really cute. The rose fragrant smelled so good and the milk tea also tasted good and has a hint of rose taste. The cake was good, the boba was well cooked, chewy and flavorful! This time there was an unpleasant experience. At first when the Dubai affogato was served, we did not realize that the amount of the coffee was little until we saw another customer's dish that the volume of their coffee looked significantly more than ours. My friend brought it to the waitress attention but the waitress brushed it off and did not acknowledge our concern. When we finished and were about to leave, the same waitress came over and showed us that the container of the coffee was different and hence the volume of the coffee looked different. At this point, we did not care for it anymore. We would have been fine if the staff acknowledged our concern. We thought that maybe using standardized containers for the coffee would avoid this problem. Other than that, the food and drinks were good.
