Public Service Announcement: FURNITURE GALLERY OF LONG ISLAND, 607 Sunrise Highway, Bellmore, NY…read more I recently purchased a high-end Flexsteel sectional and recliner from MICHAEL ACKER, the owner of FURNITURE GALLERY OF LI located on Sunrise Highway, Bellmore. Upon delivery, I noticed that the sectional did not align at all; the top, bottom, back, and front seams were completely off. Something was clearly wrong. After Mike's unsuccessful attempt to fix the alignment, he sent an outside field technician. Based on the field technician's multiple years' experience, he deemed the sectional a "manufacturer defect" and the furniture was removed from my home within 3 weeks of initial delivery. However, Mike thought it was acceptable to withhold $500 from me, the consumer. He basically charged me a fee for "defective" furniture; something I did not cause and had absolutely no control over. When asked why I am paying anything, Mike said he delivered it, picked it up, and spent time working the issue so I should pay; something he classified as "being fair." Mind you, I took time off from work for delivery and pick up, gave his men a generous cash tip, and spent numerous hours and experienced much aggravation to address the issue. Should I be reimbursed for that? I should also mention that Mike stated that the misalignment was "normal for some sectionals" and there was really "nothing wrong." Seriously? Neither he nor the field technician could repair the problem; and his field technician deemed it "defective" (I have the final report as proof). I reached out to a VP at Flexsteel (the manufacturer) for help. They informed me that the issue was resolved between them and Furniture Gallery of LI via Flexsteel's warranty process, which supports the "manufacturer defect" claim. After learning this, I decided to revisit Mike in his store to try and resolve this and give him another chance to return my money and make things right. Needless to say, we got nowhere. I am sharing some photos and a brief video so you can view and decide for yourself. Unfortunately, it has been a horrible experience with this local merchant. Upon calling the owner I was told to go to Home Depot and buy paint to fix them. I honestly could understand if this happened after a couple of years, but not this quick. I thought I was buying high-quality furniture and now it just looks terrible and I am afraid for the rest of the chair to be turning orange because anywhere you touch the paint removes. A must have PRE-COVID). Prices are higher than a garage sale, for sure. I know you CAN haggle with them but I honestly won't. They're a charity/nonprofit. The last time I spoke with the owner I could tell both him and his staff had huge hearts. here is the context:…read more I had a Bo concept Madison store designer Irina to help me furnish the entire 2B2B in Manhattan in late March 2021. and ended up bought 20k+ USD furnitures from her. Service was nice and there are a couple of items in stock and she promised to delivery within "3 weeks", and the rest in late June. That "3 weeks" was a beginning of a nightmare. the whole reason I chose them is free of hassle to have one whole batch of furnitures delivered and installed. It took them until 15 June to delivery the "in stock" desk item after I tried to contact them through email multiple times and eventually had enough and called their store manager. He realized that they have them in warehouse in early June and gave me mercy to send it to me. The attached TV unit is also sent in the same batch. But the door won't close as shown in the first picture. So I emailed them, waited for a couple of days. No response obviously. Then I called, store manager ensured they will send my "missing desk" and a service guy to fix it. I waited until Friday 18th June but no one contacted me as the delivery and service is supposed to be next Monday. So I contacted their moving firm, yes I know their moving firm now.. and finally confirm that on the Monday next. Two guys came in and did the "fix up" this Monday. Today is Friday. As shown in the second picture, the glue on the TV unit magnet, which is supposed to hold the door close, fell off. so my 3K USD new TV unit is broken again. I am too upset I am just gonna throw it away. now I am beyond frustrated with them and I start to reflect on the stupidity of myself for trusting them. My original naive idea was if I bought a lot with them, I should at least get their best service. so apparently this has been their "best service". The following is my last response to them and I do not want to ever deal with them again. "Got ur message and it's still broken. I actually have no more request for u guys. Too disappointed to care. This was not a typical install, but they were able to accommodate my schedule and install as they intially promised, despite not receiving the stone from the distribution on time.
