I just ordered my new mattress this afternoon, and it was a very good experience! Friendly, helpful staff will answer any and all questions with no pressure to buy, and they have a wide selection of all types of mattresses. They helped me find a great mattress within my budget. Years ago, I had arranged to buy a mattress and box spring, but the next day I had to go to the hospital. I called to cancel the order, since I was going to have a big hospital bill. I was ready for them to say no, it's final, as a lot of businesses would have done, but they were very understanding and canceled it for me, no problem. They give you plenty of space to look around and aren't following you around breathing down your neck like other salespeople tend to do sometimes. People told me mail-order mattresses are the way to go... so I planned to visit some local shops, test what type of material, coils etc (arrrgh so much info) and take notes and then buy online. First stop was Mattress Lot which i'd visited like 10 years ago and liked the service. Yelp reviews were also a big factor. I came with my 6-year-old since we were each picking mattresses. Right away, Zach greeted us and we felt so welcomed. I told him right away that I was looking for cheaper mattresses. (Another associate there tactfully used the term "entry level" when I came back the next day... I'm adopting that term!) Zach wasn't judgmental about the price range at all. I had no idea what to look for and was kind of overwhelmed... and my kid was a bit cranky. Zach helped narrow down or focus us on different options. I discovered I do not like memory foam! I think all mail-order mattresses are memory foam, so I dodged a bullet. My daughter and I each tried a bunch and I took pics of the price tags/names on our faves so I'd remember. We went on to try 2 other mattress shops on NE Broadway - Mattress World and Mattress Firm. At World, the lady was kinda judgmental when I asked for the sales section. She apparently had to drag the cheap mattresses out from the back cuz they're not on display. We left. Firm was a bit better but there was a hard sale about the price expiring today or whatever... I left and slept on it (heheheheh) The next day I was confident in my choice to go back to Mattress Lot and seal the deal. Zach and the whole team were so understanding when my daughter was having a minor snit fit. The crew gave us some discounts I wasn't even expecting. I walked away paying $1,000 for 2 really nice mattresses (a full and a queen). That's way less than Helix and the other online ones. Delivery was only $50. Early 2021, full into pandemic, I needed a new bed. I considered the online route -- my brother had just bought an expensive "bed in a box" and was very happy with it. But it was confusing, there were so many different online bed dealers. They said you could send them back if you didn't like it but how many times would you do that? Then my sister suggested the old-fashioned method: go to a store and lie on beds until you find the one you like. This one was nearby, so I rode over and did some lying. I made a few notes and then left. I was pleased with the lack of sales pressure. There were several salespeople around in the large, not-very-busy store. And none of them seemed to mind that I just wanted to try a few mattresses and then leave. I went and did the same thing at another store and was disappointed in the options and the prices. I realized Mattress Lot was onto something! I returned a week or so later, ready for some serious lying. I relaxed more this time, spent more time on each, pretended I was actually trying to go to sleep on it and noticed how that felt. After quite awhile I had it narrowed down to two options -- one about $3,000 and one about $700! I almost bought the $3,000 one, thinking the cheaper one must have some flaw I don't even know about, plus my brother will be disappointed if I don't spend as much as he did on his mail-order bed. I discussed it with the salesperson, who explained the difference in price and materials but assured me that the $700 one was still a quality, warrantied bed. I came to my senses and saved $2,300. The cheaper one actually was more comfortable, I decided. And, 2-1/2 years later, it still is a great bed. Your results may vary, of course. But I wholeheartedly endorse this store for its pleasant atmosphere, huge variety of mattresses, no-pressure sales, prompt and friendly delivery, and quality product. Go do some lying! read more

Whenever I think of this place, that Ghostbuster song comes into mind. Do do do do, who you gonna call (for a new mattress)...Mattress Lot. I've bought from here before and bought from here recently. We needed some new mattresses and I went there. We had the nicest person help us. She gave us pillows to test out the beds. I wish I had more time because I really could have used a nap! They have all the mattresses one could ask for in all price points. They have spring, memory foam, remote lift, hotel styles...who knew there were so many types. My kids needed some mattresses and I appreciated them suggesting some basic models since the kids are young and don't need as much support. We still went with the mid-models. Then the person helping us provided us with warranty information, mattress saver options, and when they will be ready. It was a lot of information but they're there for you to answer any questions. They are not going to pressure you into buying a super expensive mattress but will cater to your sleep needs. Delivery was super fast and efficient. So far my mattresses have been good to me and so I'll keep singing that song. read more

Mattress Lot is so great. We went shopping the weekend before Memorial Day. I want to say the person helping us was named Alex? He was so patient. We spent about two trying EVERY bed. I then needed a break so we went to the super swanky/cute market across the street. When we returned, we spent another hour. My husband then wanted to look at other mattress stores. We went to three nearby and the price point was ridiculous (and included their Memorial Day "sale"). The sales people were also clearly commission and were judgy and/or made us feel pressured. After that, went back to Mattress Lot for another hour before buying a King Size mattress. They don't do sales because their price point and quality are already what they should be and we really found that to be true. They are also not commission based but clearly care about customer service. Fast forward to delivery day and the delivery people were so nice and careful. I'm going to add an unprecedented sixth star for Mattress Lot, based on way above and beyond service: my mattress started having issues after only a year, I contacted Mattress Lot and they sent me the warranty process, and I panicked and thought "here we go, the usual mattress non-warranty" but they assured me, no, work the process and we'll advocate for you, and sure enough I was awarded a 100% credit towards a new mattress. That's right, a non-prorated warranty that actually works! Mattress Lot was all apologies for the problem with the mattress, and we had zero problem ordering a new replacement mattress, and that 100% credit made it painless. I can't say enough good things about the experience here. Really nice folks, they don't mess you about, great selection in all price points, they stand behind what they sell. I bought a mattress online several years ago from The Mattress Lot, and it was such a great product and superb experience that I came back last month when I needed another one. I didn't even compare prices or look at any other mattresses because of the customer service and buying experience I had previously. I chatted with the sales rep and told her what I was looking for and asked her to give me a recommendation. She offered up two choices, and while one was a little pricey, she said she really thought the less expensive one would be perfect. I took her advice and had my mattress less than a week later. I couldn't be happier. It has just the right amount of firmness but is not hard. The sales rep obviously knows the products and listened to me and filled my need accurately. While the previous shopping experience was what made me a repeat customer, what I really admire about this company is the way it supports the community where it is based. I purchased a Queen sized mattress from the Value line. Please don't mistake the lower price point for low quality. It's by far the best mattress I have ever slept on! No frills or extras you see at major mattress store chains. It has a very local, community feel. The staff was knowledgeable and laidback. It is odd that in my 40 plus years that I have never needed to buy a mattress and I'm not sure why that is. I wasn't going to a big chain because it would have cost too much and I really didn't have any experience in handling this. Thankfully, I travel around the city and passed by Mattress Lot. I also checked the reviews and saw four people I know (including three I've met at Elite events). I went over there yesterday and within a half hour I had four very helpful staff members and a new bed. The mattresses are locally made in Washington and are hypoallergenic. I ended up with a pillow top. As for the delivery, they said between 3 and 4, they were at my place at 3pm, practically on the dot. Can't beat that. We went to Mattress Lot based on Yelp reviews, and it did not disappoint. When you go in to try out beds, they match you up with a pillow that matches your sleep style. I'm cheap so had never bought a serious pillow before, but the one they matched me with was amazing and I got sold. (Best purchase I've made in recent history, actually.) We originally purchased a Mattress that wound up being too soft for us. Sales people were super nice on all fronts, helpful without being intrusive, and helped us sort out why the first mattress wasn't working and find one that would. The original mattress was more expensive than the replacement, and we were able to buy a coffee table from them (among the last of their home goods furniture stock) with the remainder. They delivered the original mattress, and when we decided to return the mattress, they also picked up our old mattress for the swap, and delivered the coffee table. Delivery guys were very nice and helpful, and coordinated everything in advance, etc. etc. Then - today, ~6 months later - I got a card in the mail with a handwritten note and saying they appreciated my business. For the service alone this place is a 5 plus! Everyone is super helpful and the word customer service is definitely not an antiquated concept here. I also appreciated that I didn't feel like I was being swindled by a used car salesman. They let you peruse alone, but are gladly there to answer questions and help out. Our first mattress suffered a little mishap upon delivery and the bottom felt accidentally tore on our staircase. Mattress Lot was super accommodating and gave us a few options to remedy the situation. We ended up not liking the mattress (could feel the springs in the mattress) and they didn't charge us a restocking fee (secondary to the torn felt)) to replace the mattress which I thought was pretty sweet. Unfortunately I'm also not a fan of our second mattress. We've had it for over a year and I still think its too firm. We've placed a mattress topper to soften it up a bit and I still find the bed uncomfortable. At close to $2000 for a king its kind of a bummer, but I definitely would check this place out as hands down they have the best customer service! read more

This is another 5-star review for Mattress Lot. Perfect example of a local business that cares and provides great products. I actually had fun trying out mattresses here -- they're very low-pressure. I ended up taking about three hours to pick my mattress, including leaving after an hour for lunch so I could think about my decision further. Three words really come to mind when interacting with the staff here: patient, informative, and kind. We rolled around, jumped around, and pretended to be asleep on like half of their goddamn inventory while they stood by and answered every inane question that we asked (and I myself probably asked more than once). The first night we came pretty close to closing time, we didn't feel rushed or dismissed. We came back a few days later, were greeted by another employee, and received the same exceptional attention and diligence as the first time around. We had our eyes on a particular mattress, and both employees independently told is about manufacturer issues related to Covid. Not trying to dissuade us from buying it, but trying to paint the most accurate picture they could so we could make the most informed decision. The mattress I've been sleeping on for the past 12 years is a beauty rest coil with 4 inches of extra foam on top. For a long time I was on a cloud! Recently (1-2 years) my lower back has been feeling like hell. After deciding it's time to get a new mattress I did plenty of research and asked many friends. I decided on a latex mattress. I'm so glad we have locally owned places like Mattress Lot in town. I had great customer service and I bought a mattress from them that was locally made in Seattle. I have had better nights of sleep these past few weeks then anytime during the previous year. Even though I got the plush version of latex Woodlawn, I decided I needed to soften it up a bit more and ordered a 2 inch medium firm topper. During these strange times of social distancing, Mattress Lot went WAY above and beyond to help us and were a) so freaking kind, b) genuinely helpful, and c) the winner for having an incredible mattress on clearance that could be delivered almost immediately! Three cheers to fabulous small businesses! After discovering this week that our old mattress is full of dust mites - and that we've been allergic to it for years - we began researching mattress options in earnest. We found affordable ones online, but didn't want to buy a mattress without trying it. Though the storefront is technically closed due to social distancing measures, Michael is an ANGEL and agreed to have us come by the store that night after I got off work (who even does that under normal conditions?!). We had the entire showroom to ourselves, Michael politely and patiently showed us several great options within our specifications and price range, and then let us roll around like children until we settled on a completely different mattress that was HALF PRICED on clearance - and not one we ever thought of choosing online (double sided latex memory foam/coil hybrid). He also arranged for a snappy delivery that week, HIMSELF, since his staff are not available. It's 2 years later... and we're sleeping on the most uncomfortable mattress I've ever slept on. Please know that I don't think this is an issue with Mattress Lot. They really were lovely to work with. In fact, the first mattress we picked had an issue, and they exchanged it for something else. But the mattress itself is awful. Perhaps the problem is with newer, non-spring mattresses in general. It doesn't feel like the mattress is supporting me at all; instead I sink WAY down into it. The only comfortable position is right in the middle, where there seems to be support (it's a king, and I assume it's where the twin box springs meet). No wonder my back hurts all the time. Anyway, it's time to get a new mattress. Sigh. read more

Just bought my 4th bed at Mattress Lot, I've been very pleased each time with their quality and service. I've bought them both for my home and my Airbnb rental. I could have bought something online, but it's still nice to try different options at their showrooms and they have good starter prices. After trying several out I bought the same memory foam mattress that I have in my bedroom. After I bought my first 2 they started throwing in small discounts or free delivery. I also like their policy of free delivery if you show up on a bike to purchase it, and that several models are manufactured in the Portland and Seattle areas.
