The food wasn't bad. I got some brisket, which was happily not too fatty. I liked the BBQ sauce. The sides we got were pretty good as well; we tried some cornbread, and some macaroni and cheese. The elote was spicy! However, service is not good. I placed the order to go. After 20 or so minutes waiting, I noticed that a couple that had come in a few minutes after we ordered were eating. I got in line to ask for ETA on our food and the employee said my food is what had been sitting at the bar for at least 10 minutes. She didn't call my name, or ask one of the multiple people restaurant employees to let me know or anything. We weren't sitting at a table; I was standing with a stroller trying to keep a toddler pacified whilst we waited. It's not that I'm EVER in Lemont, but based upon this experience I wouldn't come back if I am nearby.

This is a cute local gem in downtown Lemont! When you enter, you decide what you want and order and then they bring the food to you. The girl taking our order was super friendly and gave suggestions. There is plenty of seating, both indoor and outdoor. We decided to sit outside since it was a beautiful day, but then had to move inside due to bees. I decided on the brisket slider and a side of mac & cheese. It was all very delicious, but I didn't feel like it was filling enough my friend got the loaded nachos with brisket on top and it was a lot of food! I almost wish I would've gotten that we both enjoyed our meals and it was nice that they had three different barbecue sauces that you could choose from to put on your meal. Overall seems like a great place to get some good food and hang out!

Great local bbq spot in downtown Lemont. It's pretty straightforward, walk in, order at two counter and they'll bring it to you inside or out. Summertime outside there's often music on the weekends. Super casual and all ages friendly. Food is good! Recommend the loaded tots with protein add to share. Pulled pork sandwich is also tasty and a good value. Def worth checking out.

We love BBQ and were excited to try a new spot. Overall, we liked the TX theming, but the food fell flat. The ribs were really dry and I could not recommend them. I also did not care for the Mac n Cheese. I did like the drinks, but won't be back, too expensive and just didn't hit the mark.

Matt's BBQ occupies an old bank in downtown Lemont, IL. This space is pretty cool, and even features the bank's old vault behind the bar. They also have a large, covered patio outside of the establishment that is open - weather permitting. They offer a full bar, and I was meeting an old friend for lunch recently, so we decided to "belly-up" and see how the BBQ stacks up. I don't want to come off sounding like a prick, but I smoke meats pretty much weekly in my backyard on both a drum and pellet smoker, so I rarely eat out when it comes to barbeque. However, Matt's got some good reviews, so I decided to give it a go. I was happy I did. First off , our bartender/server, Emily R was outstanding. She was friendly, made great menu recommendations and despite being pretty busy for a Wednesday afternoon, we waited for nothing. Hats off to Emily - Matt, please keep her happy because she's one of your biggest fans. We ordered some drinks and split the sampler platter for $50. We upgraded the sides from smalls to mediums and added 1 sausage and 1 Texas Twinkie (a jalapeno stuffed with cream cheese, pulled pork and wrapped in bacon). This was completely unnecessary, as we had plenty of food for the two of us, but my buddy was able to take home leftovers - which was appreciated. So what was good?? The pulled pork was spot-on. The house made sausage was delicious and reminded me of these homemade hot-links I used to get at an old cabinet smoking, carryout spot called Fitzee's on the southside. Simply delicious. The mac and cheese and potato salad were both very good, and the Texas Twinkies were also a standout. Very flavorful without being too spicy. Not so good were the burnt ends - which were very dry and tough. They definitely needed sauce, and Matt's offered a Carolina vinegar-based sauce, a standard BBQ sauce and a hot BBQ sauce. I'm not a fan of any Carolina BBQ sauce, but my buddy is, and he said it was good. I liked the other two sauces, but neither stood out. I'm also a believer that good BBQ doesn't need sauce, and most of our platter did not - which is also good!! Unfortunately, the brisket was just okay. It also required sauce as it was pretty dry as well. So overall, I would definitely reccomend Matt's. The place had a great vibe. Emily was super friendly and responsive, and 80% of what we had to eat was absolutely delicious!

Went for lunch and heard about this BBQ place. I tried the sliced brisket sandwich with Mac n cheese it was good. I also enjoyed the bartender as well. She was very friendly. I recommend it if you are BBQ lover or looking for a good meal in Lemont. read more

Went for the first time Friday night. Tried the brisket, melt in your mouth brisket, delicious. I tried all 3 sauces liked them all, but Loved the "Hot". My side was potato salad, absolutely the best potato salad I've had in 20 years. I have already told 10 people to try it out. Give a local a shot to make it you won't be disappointed. read more

Delicious, flavorful BBQ meats and super tasty BBQ sauce. I tried the ribs, brisket and pork. You could see the smoke ring, very important. Everything was smoky and tender. Sadly, the sides don't do justice to the place so I had to dock them 1 star. Skip the sides and go for the meats. read more

Five workers brisket was good but the buns for it were cold. Mac and cheese was tasteless and cold as was the sausage. Sweet potato was warm but the cheese was cold and the Frittos were missing. Never again. read more

Delicious Brisket and pulled pork. Really like having the Shiner poured in a branded Mason Jar. Thought the sauces were very good, even though you don't really need to sauce up the meat. Only item I was not a fan of, was the slaw. Needs more flavor in my humble opinion. Service friendly and warm Glad to have this business in town read more

Good BBQ in downtown Lemont. Great size portions on the pulled pork sandwich. Absolutely loved the sauce. Both indoor and outdoor seating. Mac n cheese is great and Brussel sprouts were ok. I can't wait to try the other sides. Well definitely come back. read more

Best bbq I've had in a long time. I'm not a big smoked sausage fan, but theirs' is fantastic. Everything is perfectly prepared, and they give a generous portion. Met the owner he's a really nice guy. I will definitely put this on my list of places I go regularly. Excellent drinks and dessert also. read more

Finally had a chance to stop in today, and it definitely was more than I expected. We had the sampler platter to be able to try a variety of items, and all were delicious. The barbecue sauce variations were also all very good. And we ended with pecan pie, which was amazing. read more

My wife and I got married in Florida in August and we stopped at multiple bbq joints driving home that were featured on Triple D. I have to say that the pulled pork at Matt's was the BEST I've ever had. The Elote was delish and the Texas twinkies were the bomb.com...can't wait to come back and try other items...well done guys. Love the vibe as well. read more

If you have not tried Matt's you need to get over there today. Change your dinner plans right now and head over. Obviously the Brisket and Pulled Pork are phenomenal, however my favorite is the ribs. All the sides are great as well and the service is top notch. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Matt's new menu item, The Smash Burger is the best burger you will ever have. This I will guarantee. If you are going to take my advice and try the burger make sure to call ahead as it is served at limited times. Anyone who gave Matt's lower than a 5 star rating needs to get their taste buds checked. They probably eat at fast food places everyday and have no idea what quality food taste like for a quality price!!!! read more

Great addition DT Lemont! Brisket was tender, flavorful and had had a nice bark. Pulled pork was solid as well. The sauce is tangy and sweet, good compliment to both sandwiches. Definitely need to give it a try! read more

Ordered pork belly burnt ends, pulled port slider, and tots. Very reasonably priced. Service was timely. Plenty of food for the price and we really enjoyed it. Fresh and very tasty. Strange, but I really liked the slaw - super fresh and not slathered in mayo. Sat outside and took in the live music. read more

We visited Matt's today and I have to say it's one of the best tasting BBQ sandwiches I have ever had. And believe me my waste size can attest to my love of BBQ. The meats are smoked to perfection over oak logs in a smoker that looks more like a torpedo than something you would buy at Home Depot. I had the brisket and it was heaped on in thick slices so you could really enjoy the flavor . My wife had the pork and she loved it. It's a great addition to Lemont, which by the way is becoming a real bumping place to hang out. read more

Matt's BBQ is a wonderful addition to downtown Lemont. The food is consistently amazing no matter what we try. Clearly the quality of the meat as well, as the "old school" traditional smoking method pays off. Lemont is lucky to have access to this top shelf food. We will we absolutely be repeat customers. Frist any BBQ Restaurant, brick and motar restaurants have tap beer on and a frosty mug. Just to have can beers and other beverages in a can like he is running the business as a food truck, I was very surprised at ribs were on Sunday only, Just gald for what ever reason they were closed and had ribs on Saturday. Wanted some bbq sauce and the girl looked at me like why. The bottle she gave me was one squirt, bottle was empty. The little napkins are for hotdog stands not a BBQ restaurants. Not even a wet wipes to wipe your hands. The cost was not cheap, but am willing to pay for good food. The ribs and my wifes pulled pork sandwich came out cold. The can beer was not ice cold and mug that was warm just made my beer warmer. The girl said we just opened, well the business of food, people are fussy like me and my wife. Spend over $50.00, i even tipped 15% knowing it was like no waitress. I want Matt to make it here in Lemont. But if he doesn't here people will not come back. People want new restaurants, and are willing to try, keeping them is hard. A friend had a great pizza place in Streamwood, Mike always said keep them happy even if you think your right. Back in the 80's I met Mrs Belushi, yes John and Jim's mom. It was a fun time working and being around a lot a Snuggery people that became friends. So don't that my review wrongly but work on it to make this restaurant a great place to come. read more

We also like taking our ice cream for a walk through downtown to look at the river just enjoy the scenery. Note that if you have mobility challenges with stairs, this place may be difficult to access. The entire area is full of very steep hills, and there are a few steps to get up to the entrance of the store front. There may be an alternate entrance/way in that avoids stairs, but I'm not sure where it is.

Lest you think, however, that I am not klassy and only fall head over heels for blue treats, I'll have you know that I gorged on: cognac, amaretto, apple martini (GREEN with apple bits on the inside!), and strawberry margarita (keep me near the cross; these made me go on a mama-slapping rampage that was only quieted by passing out from the sheer rip-your-clothes-off goodness at eating a strawberry cake, topped with berry/tequila frosting and filled with boozy berries treat). Don't sit in judgement of me: you would have done the same thing.. and I might have been drunk from cupcakes (first time for everything!). For comparison: * Most privately owned bakeries charge around $200-$350 for a two-tier custom cake depending on complexity. * Mini cupcakes typically cost $20-$50 per 24, even from gourmet bakeries. So I paid premium pricing, and I expected premium quality. Unfortunately, that's not what I received. Design Issues The cake did not resemble the inspiration photos we discussed. I asked for a deep, elegant green with blended transitions -- something fitting for an adult's 40th birthday theme. Instead, the cake looked more like a Minecraft or Ninja Turtle cake with bright neon green, flat colors, and no blending. When I brought up the design issue, the owner blamed me, saying the buttercream "needs to sit out for 4-5 hours to darken." The cake did sit out for almost 5 hours, and the color never changed. It wasn't even close to the shade I requested. The explanation didn't make sense, and it felt like I was being blamed for something that was simply a design mistake. Quality Issues: Undercooked Cake When we cut the top tier at the party, we discovered: * an unusually thick 2-inch layer of frosting in the middle, * and a raw, floury, undercooked interior. The texture and aftertaste confirmed it wasn't baked through. We ended up throwing away the entire top tier and whatever was left over at the end of the night. This is more than disappointing -- it's a food safety concern. Customer Service & Tone This was honestly the most frustrating part. When I reached out to discuss what went wrong, the owner's tone was polite on the surface, but the conversation felt passive-aggressive, full of constant rebuttals, and completely lacking in accountability. Every single concern I raised was met with: * an excuse, * a deflection, * or a technical explanation that didn't match my actual experience. There was zero acknowledgment that anything might have been done incorrectly. She repeatedly mentioned things like: * "I didn't charge you for the little decorative balls -- those were free," * "I didn't charge you for the cake topper, it was $3.99," which felt unnecessarily frugal and honestly strange considering I spent almost $500 there. Mentioning $3.99 repeatedly after charging me hundreds of dollars made the whole interaction feel awkward and unprofessional. She also offered me a few free cookies -- but only if I used them this year because she "couldn't move the gift card into the next year due to accounting." I didn't want cookies. I wanted a partial refund, which was the only fair resolution. She immediately shut that down and said she "couldn't do that because of policy," even though she is the owner who sets the policies. There was no room for discussion, no willingness to listen, and no genuine concern for the customer experience. Overall For nearly $500, I received: * a cake that didn't match the design, * colors that were incorrect, * an undercooked top tier, * and a customer service experience that was rigid, dismissive, and full of excuses. I don't post negative reviews lightly, but this was extremely poor value for the price, and the lack of accountability afterward made the situation far worse. I hope this bakery takes this feedback seriously and improves both quality control and how they handle issues when they arise.

They have a modern design and everything was very clean with plenty of tables and spaces for plenty of people. Hopefully they have outdoor seating to make use of the patio out of front in the warmer months. Although a number of the sweet pastries and cakes sounded really good as well as the drink options, I ordered an iced mocha and a feta and spinach puff to go. But then I saw a turkey and cheese croissant was available too and I switched to that. The service was quick and the staff were friendly. There was a hiccup with my order from changing the pastry at the last minute but they were quick to give me the correct pastry and even let me keep the other one which was nice. The food and service is amazing. I work down the street at the post office on Stephen Street and i recommend this place to all my customers. You can in no way shape or form find better options for BBQ then Matt's. I promise you will love this place.
