We did the "Lock, Stock & Barrel" experience for 4 people at $115 per person, and it was fantastic. We also added a few extra dishes, including the maitake mushrooms and picanha skewers, and everything was absolutely delicious. Between the four of us, we enjoyed several cocktails and two bottles of wine, bringing our total to about $1,035. The food, drinks, and overall experience made for a truly memorable steak night.

Gin Martini with Blue Cheese Olives

Having experienced the Cheesesteak Lunch solo and incurring my wife's wrath for not bringing her along, we returned to Matu for our Anniversary Dinner. The Host welcomed us graciously, wished us a Happy Anniversary, and seated us immediately at a cozy table in the corner of the busy dining room. The serving team quickly approached, filling our water glasses and again welcoming us with big smiles. We'd had some cocktails before arriving, so my wife decided to stick with a Diet Coke for dinner, but I ordered a martini that was perfectly poured, icy cold, and topped with very fresh, blue cheese olives--a great start. Interestingly, Matu does not offer a filet mignon à la carte. The only way to order a filet (my wife's favorite cut) is to order the Filet Dinner, which is a 4-course tasting menu. Perhaps they just can't get enough filet at the quality they insist on -- I don't know -- but we decided to order the Filet Dinner and share the intermediary courses, with me ordering a small Ribeye and Creamed Spinach as my entree. The meal begins with a small cup of 24-hour Bone Broth that arrives steaming hot and packed with beefy flavor. The rich broth actually coats your tongue a bit, and the flavor lingers nicely. Next would have been Steak Tartare, but my wife substituted the Japanese Caesar, which was exceptionally tasty, with flavors in the dressing I simply couldn't place, but would happily eat for days. The last of the appetizers was a duo of Beef Croquettas -- also rich and flavorful with a savory sauce that amped up the richness even further. I don't know if I could eat an entire order (the full appetizer comes with 4 croquettas). Finally, on to the steak. My wife's Filet was melt-in-your-mouth tender, with a deep flavor. My own Ribeye was equally tender, with a rich flavor from the marbling. Both steaks were served the house way, which is warm and red in the middle, with a lovely crust from live fire. These folks know how to make a steak, that's for sure. Creamed spinach was much the same as most places... still, very satisfying and a great accompaniment. For dessert, we ordered the Strawberry Panna Cotta, which was served with a celebratory candle for our anniversary. Mildly sweet with a slight tang from the berries, this was a light and refreshing way to cap the meal. I have to say, this was an excellent dinner with fine service in a wonderful atmosphere. Additionally, the prices are quite reasonable for the location and the quality of the food, and our dinner here was $200 LESS than our Valentine's dinner at Cipriani, so I have to say this would be your much better bet for a celebratory night out. Though my wife insists we come back soon for lunch so she can get that amazing cheesesteak... and I'm totally willing to join her LOL!

Ribeye Ribeye or NY Dinner for 2

I definitely need to come back to Matu again! My husband and I had the Ribeye Dinner for 2, which had four courses. Every single course was great. Included was: 1) bone broth, 2) steak tartare (I subbed my portion for the 47 salad), 3) Picanha skewers, and 4) ribeye steak and Japanese Caesar to share. Absolutely no notes. Our favorite course was definitely the last, with the ribeye and Japanese Caesar. Everything was delicious and we felt the price was reasonable for the quality and variety of dishes. Our server, Jasmine, was also great. Great ambiance in the restaurant as well! We made a reservation so didn't have any issues with waiting. Our service was also pretty quick. We used the valet parking for convenience. We definitely would like to come back and try more from Matu!

Ribeye or NY Dinner for 2

I decided to try Matu for their halal options. We confirmed with the waiter that almost everything is halal except the beef croquettes and braised beef cheek. The waiter and staff were friendly and professional. The restaurant itself is what you would expect of a steakhouse. Elegant but crowded. We got the ribeye dinner for 2 and here's what I thought of each dish: 1. Beef bone broth 3/5 - this comes very hot so took a minute or two to actually drink it. It was good but nothing more than a normal bone broth. 2. Beef tartare 4/5 - I was nervous eating this one as I never had raw beef before. The flavor however was very delicious and reminded me a bit like sashimi. While it's not something I would reach for just because of the thought of raw beef I am so glad I tried it as someone who only eats halal. It was very delicious. 3. Picanha skewers 4/5 - the meat itself was very fatty and charred on the outside really well. I could easily pull off a piece from the skewer. The sauces were an interesting pair and went well with the skewers. 4. Japanese Caesar iceberg 5/5 - as someone who loves cheese and Caesar dressing, this was absolutely delicious! It's basically half of a lettuce head in which they spread the dressing and cheese on top. The dressing itself had a good tang and I appreciate the amount of cheese that they put on top. Would get again. 5. Ribeye to share 3/5 - this was a good ribeye. It was warm throughout and went well with the sides. They only allow for one temperature but I waited said he can ask to have it a little more cooked as I am more of a medium steak person. I would say when they have side dishes that shine the steak did feel a little lackluster. Addition twice baked potato 5/5 - this was not included in the standard ribeye for 2. We added this on top and am I glad we did. It was so good. Crispy on the outside and soft like mash potatoes on the inside. I would come back just for this. Overall, Matu is a nice restaurant to go to if you want to do a fancy dinner.

Matū Philly Cheesesteak and House-made Wagyu Potato Chips
    Peter C.

I can see why this is often rated the best cheesesteak in LA! The freshly baked sesame roll takes the sandwich to the next level for me and adds a nice depth of flavor in each bite. Plenty of wagyu beef that is seasoned well and cooked perfectly. The cooper sharp cheese is a nice tough but not overpowering. Roasted long hot pepper was not hot, but it would be nice if it was. I'd skip out on the house-made potato chips next time as they were overly salted and nothing special. Service was great and quick with lunch being bar seating only. Will be back for more and now I want to try the dinner!

We stopped into Matū after having dinner at another amazing Beverly Hills restaurant, hoping to grab a drink and get a feel for the vibe. Unfortunately, the service experience at the front was so disappointing that we never even made it past the host stand. When we walked in, we asked if we could sit at the bar which had three open seats. The hostess immediately told us the bar had an hour wait. I was confused, since it's a bar... and we had just come from Jade and Wally's, where the bars are extremely popular, always packed, and first-come, first-served like almost every other high-end spot in the area. I asked why we couldn't sit in the open seats, and she said they had four people waiting and were holding all the seats until four spots opened up together, meaning nobody could sit at the bar until that happened. There were two open seats together and then one person and then another open seat. She repeated that the wait would be at least an hour, maybe longer, even though multiple seats were empty right in front of us. The hostess was curt, dismissive, and honestly borderline rude in the way she explained it. The policy itself makes absolutely no sense and feels like it's doing them a major disservice. Holding up a bar with open seats for a party of 4 that can't sit until who knows when instead of seating guests who simply want a drink, is baffling. So unfortunately, I can't speak to the food or drinks, but I can say the service and first impression were not good at all. Beverly Hills has too many amazing spots with great hospitality to deal with that kind of confusion and attitude. Big bummer, and we won't be returning.

So cute! Great reheating instructions! Thank you Matú

My husband had a work lunch here today. Sadly, I did not go :__-( It was for two people, and they both got a cheesesteak and shared a salad and potato chips. Hubby brought me home a sandwich :-) :-) :-) SO sweet!!!! So, naturally, I jumped onto to yelp to let you know how it is to go.... Excellent! lol I have eaten at the bar but this is the first time brought home and reheated it. I can confirm that it is just as great! Why? Because they give you reheating instructions and they are perfect! Sandwich is wrapped with a scan sticker that tells you what to do. I re wrapped the sandwich in foil and placed in my air fryer on the bake function and it was deeeeelish!!!!!! OMG! This sandwich is my favorite steak sandwich. So nice to know it's just as yummy to go. I would recommend it to anyone. Great restaurant....dinner too!

Came here on Valentine's Day with a reservation and we were sat within 10 minutes. The service throughout our meal was great - our server was helpful, attentive & warm. If the Rustic Ribeye was what we thought it would be, they would've definitely got a 5 because everything else was really really good! We got the Matū dinner for 2 and upgraded to the Rustic Ribeye. I think my favorite dishes were the filet with the 47 salad & the beef tartare. The beef tartare had great flavor - savory, a little salty, a bit creamy from the egg & good aromatics.

This review is specifically for the cheesesteak as I have not tried the dinner portion of Matu. This all coming from a Philly transplant. First, the overall set up for eating here and ordering. We arrived around 1:15 and were informed they were taking no more waitlist for seating. Only the bar area is open for lunch so there aren't a ton of seats. The waiting area is a bit crammed and it's very difficult to tell who is in line to sit and who is waiting for a to go order. It was pretty hectic. Luckily they let us place a to go order and we were able to sit outside on a couple lounge chairs located in front of the restaurant. The food took about 30 minutes to come out. We did a lap around the neighborhood and grabbed some coffee nearby while we waited. Nice part of town for sure. The sandwich itself is very tasty. Tender meat, nice flavor and I am a huge fan of Italian long hot peppers so it was nice to see one in LA as they are not common over here. The seeded roll was nice, if not a bit over toasted on the sesame seeds. Overall the sandwich gets a solid 8/10 for me on taste alone. My issue with this spot is the price and the size of the sandwich. We got one sandwich and it came out to almost $32 after the mandatory 18% tip. Who am I tipping? I had to wait in line and check on if my sandwich was ready four different times. It's also a skinny roll relative to something you'd get in Philly and pretty much double the price. That's the main issue with places trying to elevate food that is traditionally inexpensive. This is a $20 sandwich max and deserves to be served at 2AM after bar hopping. I'm not sure if a high end cheesesteak works for me conceptually. It's meant to be comforting and cheap. Going here was both stressful and expensive. Overall I give the experience a 3.5/5 but am rounding up because the sandwich was good, just overpriced.

Came for the Philly cheesesteak sandwich and wow... it's phenomenal. Each sandwich is made fresh by the chefs, and you can really taste the quality in every bite. Every part of it feels thoughtfully done. The sesame bread is delicious, slightly sweet, and toasted to perfection. The steak is high-quality and full of flavor. They use sharp white American cheese, and honestly, that's what sealed the deal for me. If you love good cheese, you will love this. I usually don't order mine with peppers, but if you like a little spice, I'm sure you'll enjoy it. One thing to keep in mind: expect a wait. No matter how early you come, there's usually a minimum 45 minute wait to be seated, and sometimes it can be up to two hours or more. Still, if you're patient, it's definitely worth it.

This place has really good reviews yet slightly disappointing. We came here for a birthday occasion and service was terrible, we had to wait forever for the server and she got the orders wrong multiple times. Birthday cake (which was a candle on a slice of normal chocolate cake cost $12) Steak was tender yet extremely salty. Tartare was okay. Very overpriced for the food quality.

Part of the Ribeye Dinner for 2 ($148): Picanha Skewers with Tahini Sauce & Zhoug - each person gets their own serving 03-08-2026

Matū is definitely the place to go for a sumptuous steak. They serve Grass Fed Wagyu. On the most recent visit, we came for my husband's birthday. I made the reservation on their website. They texted me on the day of to confirm the reservation. We found metered parking on the street halfway down the block on Beverly Dr. There is a Valet stand available out front for $15. The first time hubby & I came here was for lunch. We shared a Matū Philly Cheesesteak ($24) & House-made Wagyu Potato Chips ($4) back on April 6, 2025. It is a pretty exceptional Cheesesteak! We also shared the 24-Hr Bone Broth ($9) & the "47" Salad ($16). Everything was so delicious! They only serve the cheesesteaks at the bar counter & is available on a first come first served basis. On this past visit, March 8, 2026, we originally chose to get the Rustic Ribeye Dinner for 2, but the meat had too much sinew in it for us to want to chew through. When asked how it was, we decided to tell them how we felt instead of politely saying it was okay. We were then offered the Ribeye and reluctantly accepted the offer. We really don't like to complain or cause an issue. So, what we had for dinner was the Ribeye Dinner for 2 for $148. It includes: *24-Hr Bone Broth - nice and rich beefy broth! *Steak Tartare - flavorful and tender tartare! Hubby doesn't typically eat raw meat, but he managed to eat this. *Picanha Skewers with Tahini Sauce & Zhoug - these were nicely charred on the exterior and held excellent flavor. I appreciated the grilled tomatoes *Japanese Caesar - one shared between 2 people - this was pretty unique and was refreshing to eat with the ribeye and after eating all the other meats *13-14oz Ribeye - one shared between 2 people - the ribeye is a great cut! They thinly slice the very rare meat making it super easy to eat. We enjoyed it fresh from the kitchen and as leftovers. It remained tender and moreish. *Extra - Arturo's Panna Cotta topped with macerated strawberries ($12) - this was really tasty! The macerated strawberries paired well with the silky panna cotta. Although the Dinner for 2 gave us more than enough food, I would definitely order a veggie or some sort of side dish to accompany the meat forward meal. **Per their website & on their menu: +An 18% Fee will be added to your bill. +This is not a tip or gratuity and it is not for service rendered by our people. We are a no-tipping establishment. +The Fee is revenue that is not segmented or designated in any way and it is taxed per state law. +WE ACCEPT CREDIT/DEBIT CARDS ONLY Steaks are essentially cooked super lightly, almost rare. The table next to us wanted their steak cooked a little more. Samantha took a super hot dinner plate to their table and transferred their steak to the plate to cook a little more. Samantha made sure all the diners in the restaurant were enjoying their dinners. Service is quite efficient and polite. We received fresh utensils and plates as needed for each course. We interacted with Nolan, Julia, & Samantha. Nolan initially started us out and then Julia seemed to replace him. Samantha wanted to make up for our disappointment with the Rustic Cut Ribeye. She went above and beyond, and even comped the dessert for my husband's birthday. They don't normally do this for celebrations. We left on a happy note and will return again!

On multiple occasions, Elton has given me poor service and a noticeable attitude. I chose to overlook it at first, but eventually I brought it to management's attention because the treatment was consistent and unacceptable. After that complaint, the situation escalated. When I returned, Elton refused to serve me altogether. He would not look at me, acknowledge me, or take my order. I was left sitting there while being completely ignored. It became so obvious that other guests sitting next to me noticed and were concerned enough to step in and ask him why I wasn't being helped and to tell him to serve me. That should never have to happen. I then asked for the manager I had previously spoken to, Leo, because I wanted to understand what was going on. I still have not received any clear explanation. What's most concerning is that this behavior feels intentional. No employee in hospitality gets to decide who they will or will not serve based on personal feelings. If a staff member's feelings are "hurt" after a complaint, that does not justify refusing service to a guest. That is not professionalism--that is the opposite of hospitality. It was honestly disturbing enough that the people next to me told me directly that it didn't feel right and that I shouldn't come back because it seemed like I wasn't wanted there. That is not okay, especially at an establishment of this caliber. I am actively trying to get in touch with someone at the hotel who can properly address this situation, because this needs to be taken seriously. No guest should ever feel ignored, singled out, or unwelcome in this way.

I emailed the bar to make a reservation since the online system was down, and they emailed back immediately to confirm -- and even said they would surprise my mom with an extra birthday cake! Now all I had to do was wait 3 weeks until her visit so the experience could finally happen. The day arrived and I got my mom to Maybourne Bar with her none the wiser. From the moment we stepped through the door, the experience was a 1 million out of 10. Every course is unbelievable. This is a caviar tasting in the best way -- all nine courses are topped with generous helpings of delicious N25 caviar. You get sweet, salty, savory, comfort food, upscale dining, everything comes together in the absolute best way. I especially loved the deconstructed deviled egg and the lobster roll, and the ice cream was some of the best I've ever had. The chips and dip came with the cutest miniature potato chips (although I'll admit I could have used a few more), and the caviar salmon burger was super flavorful. And, true to their word, they surprised my mom with a birthday cake -- and then surprised us both with complimentary lychee cocktails! The service was impeccable as well. Each person on the waitstaff was kind, helpful, and accommodating. We loved how descriptive they were of each dish. It was also really nice of them to decide to give us an extra 2-top so we would have room for all of the courses. This is not only an incredible tasting menu, but made even more incredible by the price. 10 courses and a glass of champagne are $85. I was honestly shocked at how much we received for under $100. I cannot recommend this experience highly enough. This is a true gem in Beverly Hills. I'm already planning my next visit!

A great fusion establishment with a mixture of espresso drinks, cocktails, and other refreshments…read moreavailable with a mixture of Mexican, Mediterranean, and Asian bites, both large and small, all sharable and very fresh and well-presented. My friend and I were a bit boozed out from the night before, so we stuck with a handful of sharable platters including California rolls and ceviche, all tasted amazing. Nothing was too heavy and the portions were all manageable, not too small or too large. The outdoor seats were very cushy and comfortable, it's perfect for sitting with your fur baby, and the restaurant provided water bowls upon request as well. Servers were all really friendly and the food did not take long to come out, though it wasn't too busy that Sunday afternoon around 3pm. Would definitely come back here to try the cocktails with other fusion bites next time we're in the area!

The restaurant itself is very cute, but the menu is a bit all over the place--sushi, Latin dishes,…read moreand pasta. We ordered rolls, salads, ceviche, and pasta, but everything was just okay--nothing memorable. We had to ask for wasabi and ginger three times, and the server seemed confused. Service overall was friendly but very slow, and the restaurant wasn't even full. The pasta was a miss, and the "salad" wasn't really a salad. Drinks were the highlight--great martinis and well-made cocktails. That said, our bill was over $600, and none of us left full. Portions are tiny. Go for drinks and ambiance, but I'd skip the food.

I would argue these are the best drinks in LA…read more I've been bartending for over 15 years and the amount of drinks here that were all home runs is astounding. There are a lot of pretentious cocktail bars these days with "technique" and interesting ingredients, but falls short in flavor and execution. Dante is not one of those bars. It's the opposite. Seemingly simple and fresh drinks ended up being cocktails that were all mind blowing. 10/10 would recommend to impress friends who like cocktails

I was really looking forward to dining here, but unfortunately the service was extremely…read moredisappointing. After being seated, we waited nearly 15 minutes before our server even acknowledged us. Not even exaggerating on the wait time. When I ordered a Twist cocktail and asked if it could be made with tequila instead, our server said he would check with the bartender. He later returned and tol us it wasn't possible, so my friend ordered a different drink instead. What was frustrating is that he never mentioned happy hour had ended while we were waiting for him to come back. We were then charged $10 for the original drink we never received, and the replacement drink was charged at full price because happy hour had expired. That didn't feel fair since the delay was entirely on the server's end. To make matters worse, a 20% service charge was already added to the bill, yet the service was some of the worst we've experienced. Between the long wait, poor communication, and incorrect charges, the experience didn't match the reputation or prices of this restaurant. I wouldn't recommend it based on the service alone. FYI during happy hour selected drinks are $10
