The outside is so unassuming but once you walk in the vibe is sexy, funky, and cool. Perfect for date night or a place with close friends. You can sit at the table or bar. We sat at the bar which was perfect. The drinks were phenomenal and the glassware I'm obsessed. We started eith the tuna tartare which was the best I have ever had. I still think about it! The Caesar salad was a little greasy/oily but the flavor was good and the lettuce itself was good. The steak was amazong and so soft. Love how its precut to be able to share easily. This is a great spot for a dark, cozy, romantic, classic Beverly Hills, Italian -feeling experience. The staff all wear classic attire and they're generally pretty attentive although I've had a couple times where I was left hanging towards the end of the meal... Fair to say the place was always crowded when I went. The food is extremely high priced however, I suppose that's to be expected considering the location and the experience they're trying to provide. Everything I've eaten has been fantastic, except the potato croquettes which were underwhelming. The bread service is incredible, the paccheri pasta with prosciutto Cotto is absolutely phenomenal And the martinis are fun and pretty too. Caesar is tableside which some people get a kick out of but for me it's still just Caesar salad. Do ask for the giant black peppercorn because that is pretty fun to experience. I love that it feels like 9 PM even if it's 5 o'clock because there are no windows and it's always just a dark, classic, perfectly lit ambience. Oh, and can we talk about the decor. The entrance with the door handle gets me every time and the art in the bathrooms is stunning as well. After viewing some of the recent 1 & 2 star reviews I was about to cancel but since it was past the allowed 48 hr window I was grateful that I didn't! Got there at our scheduled time and was seated immediately at our small table for 2 right near the center of the restaurant. It looked like it was a last minute table as it was definitely in the way of the wait staff as the place was hoppin with many tables packed to capacity. We were greeted with glasses of apertif and our order was taken rather quickly and our waitress provided some tastings of the white wines to help make our decision. After we placed our order the manager came over and was generous to move us to a booth as he saw that we were in a tight spot so that was very much appreciated without us asking. For the dining itself: Caesar salad- prepared table side and the salad itself had fresh crunchy leaves and croutons scattered about with an anchovy flavored dressing that was evenly dressed the salad and topped with a generous snow covered parmigiano. Tagliatelle- prepared al dente with plenty of clams in every bite which were nicely covered in a buttery white wine sauce that had a slight citrus profile. Branzino Picatta- Great to see a fish prepared in this style as the crispy skin made for a good texture combo with the lemon forward sauce and balanced well with the scattered capers. During the time between the salad and pasta, unfortunately a ceiling tile fell in the bar area onto a table and luckily no one was hurt but the wait staff resolved the issue before we even received our entree. The food is deserving of 4 stars but the service and staff is 5+ so overall the experience was well worth the price point that other yelpers have made as a discussion topic. It's a random date night and my boyfriend and I pick this restaurant randomly. Everything was over the top beautiful. At first we wanted to come sooner so we called in. I'd been curious about trying La Dolce Vita for a long time, and finally took the opportunity to come here as a celebratory dinner for my husband's birthday in August 2025. I'd made a reservation a few weeks before coming and it was easy to make online with a lot of reservation times available. We ended up parking in a nearby carpark and had a short walk to the restaurant from there. Once we arrived, we were taken to our table immediately. One of the reasons I was interested in coming to La Dolce Vita is the restaurant's old-world charm. The restaurant is known for its patronage by Frank Sinatra, who even funded the restaurant. The ambiance here is beautiful and classic. It truly feels like an old Hollywood place inside. We were greeted by a hostess when we walked in and seated immediately at a booth. We got several dishes to share between us, including the Caesar salad, stuffed artichoke, vodka pasta, and branzino. Nothing was bad, but nothing was amazing either. Service was efficient and friendly. We also got the spumoni for dessert, which was pretty, but again, nothing to write home about. I was going to give 2 stars but then remembered that we had amazing service so I bumped it up to a 3. This was a mixed experience. We tried the garden salad: it was fresh but way too salty, and the added olives only made it saltier. The mozzarella appetizer was a highlight really enjoyable. Among the pastas, the vodka pasta stood out; it was more like a spicy arrabbiata and honestly, they should just rename it. The lemon pasta, on the other hand, was not great. There was a chalky aftertaste and not worth ordering. The branzino was cooked to absolute perfection, though. Sides were hit or miss: the beans were great, but the potatoes were bland and actually needed salt of some type of sauce like a good marinara. Also, they threw in some rosemary as a garnish without warning, which was a nuisance to pick out if you don't like it. On the service side, our server BRYAN was AMAZING!! one of the best I've encountered anywhere. He's the reason the experience still felt worthwhile. Personally, I don't think I would come back unless it's for drinks. I would really like to see a change in the menu a little bit because this place genuinely has potential. While visiting Los Angeles this weekend, my girlfriend and I were looking for a great Italian restaurant and came across La Dolce Vita on a list of the best Italian restaurants in LA. We decided to give it a try -- and it ended up being one of the highlights of our trip. From the moment we walked in, the hospitality stood out. Chris, the GM, personally greeted every guest who walked through the door, including us. He was incredibly warm and welcoming and had such a great spirit that it immediately set the tone for the evening. We ordered the house pasta special with vodka sauce (I wish I could remember the exact name because it deserves the recognition), and it was outstanding. The pasta was perfectly cooked and the vodka sauce was rich and flavorful, with a really nice kick of spice from the chili peppers that brought the whole dish to life. We also started with the Caesar salad, which was excellent -- simple, classic and executed perfectly. The service throughout the evening was attentive without being overbearing, and the overall vibe of the restaurant was chic and lively while still feeling comfortable. The pricing was also very reasonable for the quality of the food and experience. We went back to La Dolce Vita almost two years after our first visit, for a double date with our friends Esther A. and Brad H. It was a wonderful Saturday night, planned months in advance. We got babysitting, took Ubers, drank copiously, and ran up a hefty bill over the course of four-plus hours. Food, drink, and ambiance were all great, more or less as I remembered. Service, though, left a bit to be desired. It became clear, way too late in our meal, that the restaurant wanted to turn our table. We had a 7:15 reservation and gave every indication that we were sitting down for a long dinner. We started with a round of drinks (I did notice the pickled vegetable garnish for the LDV Gibson got smaller), then ordered two bottles of wine when we put in our food--one to go with our appetizers and pastas, the other with our veal parmesan. We were surprised, then, when the pastas and veal parmesan arrived in one huge course; even more so when our server told us they had a reservation coming in for our table, minutes after we opened a third bottle of wine. I understand that restaurants need to manage their flow of diners, but that rushed veal parmesan was the first indication that we were on the clock. Restaurants often indicate time restrictions on the various reservation apps, but La Dolce Vita does not do this, and we might have chosen a different restaurant had they said they expected to turn our 7:15 table. I imagine this is exactly why they don't list a time limit on Resy. The service team might also have guessed that we wanted to stick around by the aggressiveness of our drink orders, but instead of mentioning anything on the front end, they waited until we had a third bottle paid for and partially poured before telling us to hurry things along. We pushed back and pointed out that it was almost 10:00 and we'd just gotten another bottle of wine, and our server talked to the management and came back to say they found another table for the incoming party. I don't understand why they didn't figure this out without bothering us and making us feel unwelcome. At least we were allowed to finish dinner at our leisure. We even ended the night with another mini-round (my husband and I split a negroni) which we all paid for the next morning. The food was good. I remembered the shrimp fra diavolo and the bucatini al limoni from our first visit, and they were just as nice the second time around. We also got an excellent Caesar salad with parmesan, Sicilian anchovy, and torn croutons, prepared tableside, and a rigatoni special with vodka sauce. The veal parmesan was delicious and enormous and should 100% have been served on its own, after the pastas, with the wine we explicitly ordered to drink with it. We finished our dinner with a shared dessert. I think it was the almond budino, but to be honest, things got a little cloudy after that third bottle. Were we greedy for wanting to keep our 7:15 table until well after 11:00? Maybe. But it felt like a reasonable expectation, and our bill was expensive enough. I don't like that La Dolce Vita was so willing to take our money before turning around and trying to get us to leave. We had a lot of fun, but I don't know that we'll go again. read more

Unfortunately we didn't get to try some appetizers as they were out of the stuff we wanted but it's okay we will be back! The dessert was really good. While the service was excellent regardless, the crowd of people standing over you to order a cocktail and bumping your chair while you're trying to eat is less than ideal. **When booking your reservation that you are not booking the bar seating. The food was mostly delicious! We enjoyed the tartare, mussels, marsala and potato. The bucatini was a little too rich for me and the broccolini was unfortunately bland. The Caesar is perfect and for those that don't like anchovies the dish still works perfectly. We shared the pork chop which was huge and cooked rare enough to be the best temperature for pork. The lemon bucatini was my favorite though. It's rich and creamy but still bright because of the lemon. The Branzino was standard and good enough but would probably skip next time. Cocktails were great too and definitely pack a punch. The service left a little to be desired. Even though we had reservations we had to wait 20 minutes before being seated. The hostess was a little condescending about it but I'm sure she deals with a lot lol. All in all though I highly recommend it for a special occasion or just a romantic moody date night. read more

The Caesar was good, but the shrimp was awesome. Lots of flavor packed into such a small protein. For entrées, we shared the Veal Parmigiana, the Bucatini Al Limoni and the Rigatoni special. Couldn't tell you what we liked the best because they were all delicious. Pleasantly surprised because it's expensive in the heart of Beverly Hills, but it delivered on taste. For the main courses each shined in their own way: bucatini al limoni had the best pasta, al dente to perfection with a light sauce; off menu rigatoni with a spicy sauce, the sauce was to die for, just the right amount of sauce & spice; the lasagna uniquely served on its side spiraled around with a charred top, not sure if there's supposed to be a char on top or not, I think it took away a little from it, but the meat & sauce was amazing; had a monster cheescake, generous slice, thick & creamy, a little too charred on top but none the less a good finish! Drinks were solid! I had all three varieties of martinis except the vintage $75 one & a negroni. All were solid with a good amount of alcohol & good varieties on the standards, of the martinis I had I liked the 50/50 the best. Really nice ambiance, make sure to make a reservation because it gets packed. I don't remember was it was called but I got a cocktail with aperol, tequila, and grapefruit, and it was delicious. We ordered the Ceasar salad which tasted a bit too fishy for my liking, and the artichoke which was pretty good, but you can only have so much of it. For our entree we got the pasta with prosciutto and it was good. I would say for the price you're paying, it was not worth it. However the service was great. read more

We called and got a spot at the bar. Our bartender, Ashley, was super helpful and very sweet. We got the Caesar, Branzino, and Spaghetti with meatballs. They were all phenomenal. The skin on the Branzino wasn't as crispy as I would have liked, but that's because it's in a piccata sauce. But the sauce was worth it! The bread they bring out, was some of the best bread I have had. The one with sesame seeds?! Fugetaboutit. So good! They serve it with gardinere, oil, and vinegar. We had the sommelier recommend a wine, and she was great. She got us something perfect and in our budget. Note: Valet doesn't start until 7. Making a single phone call to inform my husband that "no one else got poisoned" does not in any way make up for what happened. You're transformed into a different time and space the moment you walk through the doors. The restaurant is small, intimate, creative, and alive. The decor and music take you back 50 years ... but you don't feel like you're in a 50 year old space, you feel like you're in the space when it was new, 50 years ago. The place was filled to capacity, and felt bustling - we were still seated right away. The service was stellar. Martini's served in multiple parts with extra accouterments, well plated appetizers on what seemed to be real china, and attentive staff. Dining here is an event, and not just a meal. The food was great and satisfying. This is a restaurant that is more about the entire experience than just the food itself. If you're looking for an exciting dining experience from a place that understands the value of hospitality in dining out, this spot is worthy of consideration. I'll definitely be back. read more

I certainly didn't come out to dinner in Beverly Hills and expect a bargain on food pricing but one thing stood out and caused me to write this review. After our 2 course dinner and a bottle of quite decent wine, the waitress asked as it is a birthday, would you like some desert? 99 times out of 100 this is a gesture on the part of the restaurant and offered at no charge. We agreed to the suggested chocolate tart which arrived with 1 candle coming out of the smallest, hardest tart I have ever had. This was that 1 time as the tart was neatly waiting at the bottom of our bill at $18. If you need the money that bad, I wish you luck but you won't be getting any more of it from me. read more
