Wow! Thank you Hau Tree. We were seated outside right in front of the baby monk seal. It was hot, but the hostess brought us fans and was very accommodating if we needed to move. The fish was delicious, the produce tasted so fresh (salad and tomatoes) so it was worth the $$ to me just because nothing was "tired." The pasta was also cooked perfectly al dente. I recommend reservations, my mom and I had a beautiful Mother's Day / birthday / graduation celebration, they even brought out a cake. I didn't feel rushed at all, and I'll be going back here again. The best part about this restaurant is definitely the ambiance. The views of the beach are spectacular, even though there are birds from time to time. I have been here a few times already and I always order the Ricotta Calamansi Pancakes. They are my favorite and never disappoint. We were staying at the Hilton Hawaiian Village for the weekend and the Hau Tree Bar was convenient and easy. We could have ordered via the poolside service but could never flag down the waitress, so I walked over to the bar and ordered from there. They have a lot of drinks and a lot of food options. We went with a couple that were kid friendly. We ordered the chicken fingers, a side of fries, and popcorn shrimp dynamite. The bartender was super friendly and gave me an approximate time when the food would be ready to come back. His timing was perfect and I was able to pick up the food within 15 minutes. The popcorn shrimp was very good. I would've liked a little bit of coconut but I know that's not everybody's taste. The french fries were good as soon as we got them, but as time went on, they became for sale. The chicken strips were simply chicken strips nothing special, but the kids enjoyed them. I would say for the ease of being at the pool all day and not having to go far to find food or drinks. The Hau tree bar is a great option. You can also come off the beach and eat/drink there. This little bar is located within the large pool area of the Hilton Hawaiian Village resort, just before you cross into the Waikiki beach area. During our week stay at the Hilton Hawaiian Village resort, we spent just about every day at this poolside bar. They have poolside tables (which are family friendly) or limited seating at the bar. While there, we got to know many of the bartenders but the one that we spent most of our time talking with was Edy. He's been working at the resort for over 25 years. On one of our days we came to the bar just as Edy started his shift. Although we were coming for a single drink, Edy entertained us with stories, jokes and amused us while working the bar. We ended up staying for more than a drink. Edy made sure all of his guests were taken care of with drinks, food and water refills - in rapid time. If you're lucky, you may catch him perform his quarter trick or show you how to push a cup through a small hole in a napkin . We ended up having so much fun and stayed his entire shift, and an additional two hours afterward. Their cocktail menu is simple but they can mix up anything you ask. They also have some local beers and some of the usual domestic/imports. They also offer a small food menu. we tried their shrimp Po-Boy sandwich and their musubi's. Both were amazing but weren't made at the bar (they come from another restaurant on the resort). If you find yourself in the area, stop on by the bar for a quick drink. You may find yourself chatting with some of the locals Tony & Kelly, who frequently sit at the bar. They're a friendly couple that are good company and can offer good tips on things to do in the area. read more

Good spot for drinks on the beach. My friend and I were going on a sunset cruise nearby and decided to stop by Hau Tree for some pre-cruise drinks as we walked by. This spot is in the Hilton Village, right next to the beach. It's pretty much as close you can get to legally drinking with gorgeous beach views. We came around 4 pm and half of the tables were available, so we could sit wherever we wanted. We each ordered a frozen daiquiri for $12.50. I had the mango. They also offer food here, but it's not cheap. For example, a small bowl of pineapples is $14, and cihcken tenders is $16. They definitely charge a premium for their beachside location. My daiquiri came out quickly and was delicious. It was strong but I couldn't taste much of the alcohol as it was covered by the mango flavor. The menu is really small and hours are extremely limited. Of course, prices are high and food quite not enough to fill yea but just enough to empty your pockets slowly. There are mix drinks that can be made into non alcoholic beverages just be aware of the cup sizes. The virgins come in bigger cups. Overall three stars. Dee is beyond amazing!! We had a large party and she went above and beyond to make sure that everything was taken care of!! We have some "high maintenance" men in our party, plus tons of high school kids and I don't know how but Dee was able to deal with them and make sure everything was satisfied. We also had Meyer the night before who also was able to accommodate our large party! We are staying on property for a week and honestly hope to always get the amazing service that Dee and Meyer provided!!! Ok, so even though I want to leave a 1 star review im gonna give it two to be fair. We stayed at the Hilton Hawaiian Village which was amazing and the Hau Tree Bar was right by the pool which made it super convenient for drinks. The bar tenders were great and we always tip accordingly so we appreciated their service and drinks weren't too bad. Pretty standard and basic but nothing to write home about. We had Mai Tais all over the Island, I feel the best ones were at Mai Tai bar at Royal Hawaiian but thats here nor there for this review. Getting back to it. Ok so we spent alot of money there at that bar over a 5 day span and everything was great until one misunderstanding happened. I had brought some food for my family to eat in there and I didnt see a sign anywhere and it was COMPLETELY MY FAULT. I guess they have little signs on the table or somewhere around and I didnt see it. Nor did my family. Maybe we were all in the moment of the vacation who knows.. Whoops silly me. The issue that I had, was my wife got a dirty look by one of the workers there and that employee shook her head passing by her when my wife walked up to the bar. The lady came back by our table about 5 minutes later did it a second time (shaking her head at all of us) then finally had the guts to tell us we werent allowed to have outside food at the tables by the bar area. All she had to do was tell us kindly to pack it up and move it to the pool area we would of done that! I mean something so petty turned into a huge issue for us because it killed our vibe and we were in the moment you know? Thats all you had to do! Were not kids, were grown adults. And walking around shaking your head like your one of those bobblehead toys doesnt solve anything! Another waitress came by and was suuuper cool and apologized on her behalf. She even told us where we could sit with a view! We appreciated that! The bottom line is this, people are there to enjoy their vacation. Thousands of people. Its not always going to be easy and your going to have misunderstandings there with some of these people but dont shame them! Do things discreetly or pull them aside, or figure a way to handle the situation professionally. And if you dont know how to do it, ask someone who does. Your customer service means more than those drinks you pour, and the food you serve. If you lack in that department your ships gonna sink real fast or your jobs gonna be cut.
