My wife & I just finished 6 dives over three days with this company. Very professional, but still laid back/fun. Loved all of our Dive Masters. They do most everything for you as far as switching out tanks/prepping kits. Not to mention keeping you safe! Johnny, Ethan, & Sarah- thanks for showing us a good time! Keep in mind this shop does SHORE dives! You will be gearing up and walking to your site from wherever they can find parking- an issue on Maui. Though they will drop you off beachside if it's a long haul. Be ready to fight swells and currents going in and out. It can be tricky if all you're used to is boat diving- like I was! Absolute worst dive shop ever! I wish I could give this place zero stars. Incompetent dive master. Way overcharged for the experience of having to schelp our gear really far. The dive master had barely been on island a few weeks and couldn't handle the medical emergency that occurred. Thankfully we were experienced divers because it could have been a total disaster. And the customer service was less than appalling. Save your money and go elsewhere!!!! There are plenty of other dice shops on island that will charge less and give way better service to take you to the exact same dive spots and the dive master might know the names of the fish. read more

Explained our trip and briefings were detailed and to the point, we saw great marine life and beautiful reefs! These guys are the best from top to bottom! We did the recent Manta and Shark dive with Sarah. Although we did not see a manta, Sarah took us to some awesome spots where we saw 20+ turtles, reef sharks, an array of eels and tropical fish! Sarah was a wonderful guide and offered professional grade photos which made the dive all the more special! read more

My first trip to Maui and did not really know which group to go with on our dives. I took a random chance and picked Maui Diving. It was AWESOME! The entire crew and ownership is really friendly and helpful. They directed us to the best dives and away from those we thought would be better. Took a discover diving course with Simon of Maui Diving out of the Lahaina location in December 2022. I was nervous, but he was calm, experienced, thorough and very good with baby beginners. He kept a very close eye on us. I came away excited about the sport. Will also was a dive instructor for for my more advanced husband and he quite liked him. They have a fellow teaching underwater photography, and the retail locations in both Kihei and Lahaina seem to have a full range of wet suits, snorkels, masks gear. Nice folks. The whole experience was amazing! My brother and I did an intro to diving, which required a pool lesson. They even made scheduling accommodations as my flight arrived late in the afternoon, and it worked out perfectly. All the staff there are very friendly and had a lot of island Aloha! To us, that makes a huge difference and made us feel very welcome and comfortable. Our dive instructor Jenny took good care of us and made sure we were safe, and enjoyed the diving experience. Molokini Creator was AMAZING! We just loved it and would recommend this dive shop for anyone who is looking for a dive guide on the island. This is our last night in Maui and it's been the trip of a lifetime. A large part of that is due to this shop. I (and a couple of my friends) fulfilled our bucket list wish and got dive certified with this company. The experience was phenomenal start to finish. We even had a newbie with us (never been under the water) and it was smooth and so unbelievably fun. Huge shout out to our instructor Brent and our assistant dive master Michaela. Their chemistry together as well, as with us made the experience unforgettable. The amount of knowledge and experience we got in only two short days was extraordinary. They both have such a love of what they do that it definitely came through. So much so that it inspired us to add an extra Day of diving. The dives themselves were beautiful and we saw so freaking much!! Brent had a gift for finding hidden creatures and spotting things far before we did. It was magical. I can't wait to continue my diving adventures and hope to someday come back to Maui. If I do, I will definitely visit this shop. Everyone was so friendly and fun. It was a great environment. After getting my Open Water certification with Mike years ago, we wouldn't consider diving with any other dive shop in Maui. Friendly and helpful staff, who are always happy help with a smile. Organized a dive with them for our small group with various levels of experience, and had an awesome time. Deborah's patient and kind instruction was excellent. If you're looking for a first time dive, pick these guys! The instructors were patient (and they needed a lot of patience with me.... :) ) took a lot of time getting us ready and helping us in the water. We were apprehensive about doing just an intro dive without getting certified because we didn't know what we'd see. We saw so much, though. Tons of coral, a turtle, a shark and cool fish. If you do the intro course and they offer you a second dive, do it! It was well worth it. That's where the most amazing stuff is. They're also a great company. During the second dive, my ears started to hurt when I went too deep and one of the instructors had to take me back to shore. The person I was with got a full second dive though. It was nobody's fault and to be honest, I was already amazed at everything we were seeing and doing for what we paid - we definitely got more than our money's worth. But they still offered a partial refund because I didn't get the full experience. There was no need for that but just the offer said a lot about them. This has been the highlight of our trip so far. We appreciate your help and patience with us. We had a great time. read more

My husband and I came to Maui for our 14th year anniversary and our main goal,was to do a bunch of diving. We chose this small shop based on the reviews. Granted, we were there in the off season, but we basically got a private dive master for each dive. And the dive masters were great! We had the chance to dive with Will, TJ, and Mike. They all provided a different experience but I would gladly dive with any of them again. Interestingly they were all shore dives. We are pretty used to boat dives and like the ease of entry, etc. so we were a little uncertain. Some of the entries were a bit challenging but the dives were all amazing and I would do each again! Rich and Jess in the shop were great! They were warm engaging and informative. I did not price compare on the island. They were pricey dives but I think diving on Maui is just a bit expensive. The dives were worth every penny. We will dive again with this shop next time on the island. read more

There is a reason Maui Diving has so many 5-star reviews. This was my first trip to Hawaii and I was hoping to refresh my diving skills and at the same time get the opportunity to see what was all the fuss was about Mala Pier. First off, our instructor and guide Dave was excellent. Got us geared up and in the water quickly. Lots to see. Lots of fish and turtles along the submerged coral encrusted pier remains. We were visited by 3 white-tipped​ reef sharks. Amazing. The whales were singing so loudly throughout the dive. Their sounds can be clearly heard throughout my GoPro video. Do the two tank dive for the day, you won't regret it. It took me 57 years to get to Maui and I can't wait to get back. Did I mention how good Dave was? Ask for him! I came to the shop to rent tanks and weights to Dive beautiful Maui, easily my favorite Hawaiian island to Dive... They told me "we don't rent tanks". When I asked why (I have never known a dive shop that didn't rent tanks) they said it was because they had electrical problems and their compressor doesn't always work. They were however offering guided diving. This is just the way it happened I will leave it up to To decide if they were trying to upsell me. We had a great time with Maui Diving. Mike was a wonderful guide and took us to two sites where we saw sharks and lots of turtles. The dives were both shore dives which were fairly easy. We prefer boat dives, but both sites were accessible by shore and I believe it helped to keep the price reasonable. This was one of the best experiences we've had diving since getting certified 7 years ago. read more

This was a fun experience, and the instructor was very safety oriented and helpful. I had no idea that we would have to walk from the parking lot into the water with 65+ lbs of scuba equipment - that was tough. Also, it took some time to acclimate, and I think my next time will be even better. In terms of sea life variety - it was good but not amazing. We did see a sea turtle and eel though! read more

The folks at Maui Diving are really helpful and professional. They are a small, family run shop, a few blocks away from Front Street, with easy access to various nearby shore dives. We had boat dives set up with another company, but wanted get started with a shore dive with our newly certified (6 months ago) divers (aged 12 and 14) to get them comfortable again in the water. Steven was our dive guide and he was excellent. He was thorough with the setup of our gear, briefing of our dive site, and on ensuring our new divers were comfortable in the water. When needed, he kept close with our kids to reassure they would experience an awesome dive (for instance, when a shark hung around a little too long for my daughter). We dove Mala Pier first, saw turtles, tons of fish and a pair of white tip reef sharks that circled the waters around us. There's a little bit of a swim out before you decend and when you exit, but it wasn't terrible. Our second dive was at Airport Beach, where the facilities were modern, and diving was shallow and easy. I didn't do a ton of shopping around (due to a last minute need), but I would recommend checking them out if you are looking for guided shore dives. Compared to at least one major resort, their prices were cheaper. read more

Sarah was my guide/instructor and she was great !!! Very professional, friendly and knowledgeable. Did both black rock beach and Mala wharf dive. Mala wharf had a lot of turtles and saw a couple of white tip reef sharks. Dive shop has space for sitting and a good size merchandise size. Slight negative: Was scheduled for a 9am dive and time got changed to 8am with less than 24 he notice. (Was even less of a heads up as I was on plane when notice was email to me) Was not able to make the 8am dive and the lady on the phone seemed irritated like it was my fault. read more

Today my wife and I officially got PADI Open water certified! It was absolutely an amazing experience! Harmony was our instructor she was thorough, helpful, and answered any and all questions we had! She was great and would recommend her as a guide and as an instructor to ANYONE! Because of her we plan on bringing our business back here and will tell everyone to come here. We traveled to Maui for a weeks long vacation and my 18 yr. old son who was certified 2 yrs. ago in Maui wanted to get a couple beach dives in during our trip. I have an instructors level certification although I am no longer actively teaching SCUBA. I stoped by Maui Diving the night before and inquired about costs for rentals for the the next day. The kid working was very nice and told me the price and that we could show up the next morning at about 9:30 to get our gear. So, the next morning we come in and I had a great conversation with who I thought might be the owner but apparently he was not. I'm from Sacramento and used to teach out of Dolphin SCUBA (the biggest and best dive shop on the West coast) and we knew a couple people in common. Another young man set us up with our gear and I will say that checkout was farely easy (I did not travel with my scuba gear this trip except fins/mask/snorkel). We set off to dive 5 graves/5 caves and we entered the water to waist level to put our fins and mask on (I am using one of there masks) and then we dropped down in about 6 ft. of water. Immediately, my mask started filling with water so I tried to adjust under water but had no success so I went to the surface. I took the mask off and realized the frame was cracked and water was just flowing in (thank goodness I had my mask in the car and my wife was able to retrieve it for me). When we returned to the dive shop I was upfront and honest with the kid who was taking our gear in. He told me he would have to talk to his manager about the mask. He comes back and say's I'll have to pay $40 and they were giving me a break on a $99 mask. I went to talk to the manager and she promises me that all their gear is thoroughly examined after each return. I said, "I think someone missed on this one becuase it started leaking right when I got in the water". She then goes on to tell me that it must have happened in the car and a tank probably rolled on it. After arguing my case I finally said, "whatever" and basically ate the extra $40. I have been diving for 21 years now and know how to pack a car with tanks and gear. Someone obviously missed something when this mask was returned from the previous renter. It just sucks when your an honest person and you tell them exactly what happened and they stick you with the charge! To all my Sacramento Nor-Cal divers especially everyone from Dolphin Scuba in Sacramento and Stockton, give your business to another dive company (there are plenty of them). 2 stars for the nice conversations and assistance while checking out our gear. By the way, I got NO paperwork with checkout and checkin! Not even a receipt! read more

Luckily it was a quiet day so it was only me and my instructor, Kevin. Wonderful experience. My first time scuba diving and it was a thrill thanks to the expert guidance of Kevin. Spent a little over an hour at about 30'. Saw some beautiful fish and reefs. I would definitely do it again! Worth every penny! My only criticism is that they don't take underwater photos. I'd like to have a token of my experience. I would gladly pay extra for it! read more

These guys were extremely grateful and considerate with our skill level. We had a great dive overall. I will warn others that when there is a strong current you may want to make sure you are ready for it. Here in Maui, that was the only negative I had about the dive itself. We saw everything we wanted to see plus more. We were able to videotape the entire thing (make sure you are Certified Diver or they probably won't let you do this) with our GoPro. The company was very professional and made sure me and my Wife were taken care of. I would recommend these guys to anyone from any level. We had an incredible day for diving and saw a ton of wild life at 5 Caves. Dive Master Kevin was extremely nice and easy to talk to. It was nice to have a small crew; just 5 of us total plus Kevin, vs some of the operators that take out huge groups and it's less personal/friendly. Excellent dive site. We have done Mala Pier a ton, which is exceptional and we're looking for something new to show our 13 year old in her second dive trip and 5 Caves did not disappoint. We saw 4 white tips, tons of eels; one of every color you can imagine, sleeping turtles, swimming turtles, some saw an eagle ray, tons of schools of fish, urchins...you babe it. It's the best on the island, supposedly. You are basically stuck paying whatever price they stick on their products. Update: I am positive of the store name and location. We rented a tank only to realize as we wheeled the cart to the car that my husband could not dive due to time of departure the following day. We walked back in and you refused a refund as well.
