The diving in Maui is amazing and one of the reasons why we came to Maui for our vacation. There are a lot of options to scuba right from the beach and many options for dive outfits to go out with. That being said, the folks at Maui Diving Scuba Center have the local knowledge to keep their clients safe and also educate and inform and I am glad we choose them. I signed up for the 5 star 5 dive package and ended up booking one additional Mala dive with them because the diving there is so good. In all, I spent 5 days diving with them and a total of 9 dives. They were well organized and prepared to get us rolling promptly which meant most days we were out of the water and back to the shop around 1 PM which left lots of family time for the afternoon. Additionally, they offered a Turtle conservation class which I attended, and thought it made me a better more responsible diver when swimming with turtles. I just want to personally thank the divemasters I had the chance to go diving with (please pardon any misspelling on the names). Big shout out to Yancy, Johnny, Sarah, and Dave for taking great care of me and the rest of the divers while we were out with you. Johnny offered a photo package from our Mala dive that was really an unexpected bonus. Last but not least is Jillian in the office. She really went above and beyond helping to coordinate all of my dives. She was patient and understanding when I screwed up and booked a night dive on my wife's birthday. Having someone that is solution-focused and customer-centric is vital for a tourism company. Jillian also helped me find a new dive mask. I have struggled to find a mask that doesn't leak because of my beard and is also comfortable. It was so much more fun diving without having to keep clearing my mask. Thank you for your help in making this an unforgettable trip!

Great dive shop and instructors. Junior made sure everyone in the group was comfortable and ready to go for each dive. We purchased a 6 dive package and didn't regret it. Every dive had something new and interesting things to see. The most memorable ones were the Mala Pier, night dive and the 5 caves. After seeing so many turtles at Mala Pier we also decided to come back ourselves to go snorkeling a few days later. The workers at the shop were very accommodating as well. My regulator had an issue, so I was able to rent one for a couple of days while they fixed it.

I went on both a twilight and a night dive and both were amazing. We dove Mala pier for the twilight dive and it great to swim around the wreckage of the old pier. We saw turtles and white tips, but the highlight of the trip for me was when Steven pointed out my first frogfish! There were two of them sitting together and then just a few minutes later another diver spotted three sitting together. For the night dove black rock and it was easily one of the best dives I've ever been on. Top three for sure. If you like eels this is the dive for you. There were eels everywhere and they were all looking for food. I saw one just miss chowing down on a crab. We also saw turtles, an octopus, and a squid that changed colors and didn't appreciate the lights. The only thing I would recommend to people is to rent stronger lights if possible. I had my two 800 lumen lights and they were perfect, but most of the divers lights were 400. My lights really lit up the area. I went on a boat dive to Lanai at one of the cathedrals as well as another site and neither were even close to as good as my previous two shore dives. If I ever make it back to Maui I'd dive with Maui Diving for sure.

Another fantastic dive with Maui Diving. I was debating between Five Caves and the Mala Ramp. After a suggestion from the shop, we dove Mala and I'm SO glad we did! Visibility was incredible. We saw flounder, lobster, so many green sea turtles, eels, cleaner shrimp, two resting white tip reef sharks, a frog fish and an octopus (even if he didn't want to come out to play). I had Steven as a guide and lucked out that it was just the two of us! (I've gone diving with so many groups, which really limits your time underwater. I don't use much oxygen so we were able to stay under for 95 minutes. My only suggestion - I wish the wetsuits were a little newer. I tried on two and both were a bit ragged. The one the fit had no zipper pull which makes putting on your own suit impossible!

Superb. Did a Mala Plus (Black Rock) and was impressed with the professionalism and quality of the gear. Most rental gear is sun faded and beat up, Maui Diving kitted us out with rear inflate BCD's and premium regulators which worked like a charm. Overall a superb experience.

Such a unique, wonderful time!! We booked as a private group of 4 for the beginner off-shore diving…read moreexperience, as it was everyone's first time diving. Our instructor Sean was amazing!! Your first scuba experience may feel quite daunting (it was for me!) but your instructor goes over all the equipment, safety measures, and hand signals to know--that you are also required to go over in your online course, so helpful! LEADING UP TO YOUR DIVE: A lot of the prep comes before you even arrive for your dive: the online info courses and waivers (took about 20-35 min) and inputting the height and weight of each diver, so once we were ready to start heading to the beach, Dive Maui quickly got us into our wet suits, and later quickly had us fit for our masks, oxygen tanks, and weights for the vest. The indoor area where they go over the info and where you put on your wet suits also have a bathroom you can use before and after which was helpful to have a place to change afterwards. They don't have lockers or a designated place to leave your stuff, but it did kind of feel safe if you're just leaving a bag of clothes or shoes when you dive; overall, I'd recommend coming with less stuff though unless you have someone to hold your things. THE EXPERIENCE: 10/10 but that is just speaking for me LOL we got to see so much wildlife in their space: so many different kinds of fish, schools of fish cleaning off turtles (we saw around 10 turtles!), we caught to briefly look at 2 sharks chilling on the ocean floor, and saw a flounder fish in the sand. At one point, I was swimming alongside a turtle!! We had someone in our group who was not as strong a swimmer and was more nervous with all the gear so they had a harder time enjoying the experience, but our instructor was really good and intentional with making sure they were okay and walked with them slower through the experience. Otherwise, we overall really enjoyed the experience and have no regrets! It definitely feels like you get to see more of Maui's wildlife beauty in its natural place, as opposed to the more touristy, marketed Hawaii. They recommend all divers be a strong swimmer, to expand on this--as long as you are comfortable maneuvering yourself in the water (would you be able to quickly change direction if you notice you're drifting into coral or , able to swim deeper and manage how deep or shallow you stay in the water--no need to be on a swim team--it is not about speed or being able to literally dive LOL IMPORTANT: our booking did not do shallow water training at a pool or at the shore before going down to practice our skills test (how to blow water out of your mask, practicing what to do when our breather comes out of our mouth, clearing our sinuses, checking our oxygen tanks and responding to our instructor with correct hand signals of our oxygen level). So we knew we were going to practice these skills, but it can definitely be scary since you go 20 feet down and then do the skills. Yes, you need to be a decent swimmer, but I think it's more important you think about if you can stay calm and trust your instructor and the skills they are teaching you--the entire experience of using the gear and being 20-30 feet underwater takes some time to get used to, so make sure you are okay with knowing that you don't get shallow water training and can stay calm and remember to take deep breaths as you get used to breathing through your mouth only and blowing water out when you can't breathe in, rather than panicking. If you are typically able to pick up new skills and can stay calm under pressure, then totally try scuba diving!! Dive Maui will keep you safe! We parked in the nearby lot near the grocery stores. When you register, they give parking suggestions and specify where not to park to make sure you won't get a ticket or get towed parking in private spots. It would be great if they were able to have a photographer or camera to catch a few pics during the experience. Even if they charged for the pictures, that's one I would (and think many people would) pay for! especially since not many people want to bring their phone or have underwater cameras to bring along with them, let alone having to figure out how they want to hold or attach it to their gear with them (not even sure if they allow this)

(Mugging is when the whales hang out very close to the boat and you can not move the boat). I am sure Renee got some great gopro video because I did and she had a long pole for hers. We also had them spy hop us and later had a baby breach near the boat. Overall one of the best whale watching trips I have been on and I have taken a lot! Sorry I could not upload video.
